francisco general and hospital officials are not yet releasing the cause of death. his family has asked that we share no further medical information and due to state and federal privacy laws we have to respect those wishes. the mayor was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. doctors worked on him for hours but it was too late. a number of city officials and supporters gathered at city hall to pay respects to mayor lee.he was from the dawn of his career, an advocate for the powerless a voice for the overlooked, someone who looked out for others in need before himself. that commitment to others defined the mayors 3 decades of public service.in the last 6 years, mayor ed lee made a lot of positive changes in the city. including helping pass one of the highest minimum wages in the country. i think people will realize in the coming days what he dd for san francisco. and the reason a lot of people don't know what he did for sf is that he wasn't a boastful person. he was simply a civil servant. he loved the job. he loved sf. in addition to maintaining her position as president of the board of supervisors, london breed is now the city's acting mayor. a special election will be held june 5th of next year. a mayor will then be chosen to fulfill the rest of mayor ed lee's term that expires in 2020.standupflags will continue to fly at half staff for the next 30 days while the city mourns itsfirst chinese

(robin) also in the east bay... the man accused in the death of a bay bridge toll worker has been officially charged. daniel berk was charged with gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and six counts of felony d-u-i. berk is accused of driving his truck into a booth, killing 46-year-old caltrans worker si si han. c-h-p officers say they could smell odors of alcohol and marijuana on berk when they arrived on scene. berk's next court appearance has not been released yet. han leaves behind a husband and 10 young daughter.

madyun kron4news (robin) california and the trump administration are squaring off in a federal court hearing over birth control rules. the hearing is happening in oakland where no ruling occurred yesterday. the judge will decide on whether or not to block new trump administration rules allowing more employers to 'opt out' of birth control coverage. the state of california is arguing the rules could result in the loss of no-cost contraception services for millions of women. but a justice department lawyer argued the state has not identified a single woman who would be affected and adds the rules protect religious freedom. (robin) tens of thousands of people are still evacuated in southern california as several wildfires rage on. the thomas fire is the largest of them all. and the massive wildfire is still marching up california's coast. it's grown to 236-thousand acres. and

is just 25 percent contained. and is threatening communities and santa barbara and venture counties. it's day nine of red flag conditions in the region. but firefighters took advantage of calmer overnight winds the fire is now the fifth largest in california history. from his team... for sending text messages critizing then candidate donald trump. the messages span from august 2015 to december 2016. the house committee says they have serious concerns about the political motives of mueller's team. baristas eventually stepped in to help. they asked the woman to leave and when she refused. they had to call police. ( james ) police were able to get the woman to leave. the video has now been watched more than 100- thousand times online. the student and her tutor say they hope that the video will will spread awareness, and help erase some ignorance. ( james ) a 26-year-old man is behind bars accused of possessing child pornogrphy... and trying to meet a minor for sex. shah-riyar reza of los gatos was arrested last week. police say reza befriended a minor through social media... and asked for explicit photos. now police are looking for more potential victims. reza lived two blocks away from montessori school. he has been booked into the county jail on multiple charges. ( darya ) parents of a vacaville middle school student say their 12-year-old daughter is being bullied by a classmate. and they say they have a voicemail that proves their case.( darya ) that call was made by a 12- year- old boy. her parents

say they called police immediately and contacted the vacaville unified school district the next day. but didn't get the response they were hoping for -- they say nothing was done. they wanted the boy suspended. but police say their youth services department will refer the boy ... to an anti-bullying program... in hopes of avoiding the criminal court system. police officer turned realtor -- catches a woman looting a home that was evacuated because of the lilac fire... burning near san diego. the realtor was checking on a client's home... when he noticed an unfamiliar car parked in the driveway. it was packed with stuff from inside the house. the woman told the realtor that she was an investor who was interested in the property. he didn't buy it... and called police. along with looting charges.. the woman is also facing drug and d-u-i charges.
