shopping.the mayor's body will be moved to city hall this morning ... where it will lie in state in the building's rotunda. kron4's ali reid has more on the city's plans to pay respects to the mayor. those steps behind me is where the casket will enter city hall tomorrow morning.doors will open to the public at 8am. pkgthe fire department will hang a flag in memory of mayor ed lee. by 7-am, the casket will be escorted by police up the steps of city hall and into the rotunda.it's such a big loss to everybodysan francisco police chief william scott, who was hired by mayor lee says the department is ready but they are also grieving.this is a huge loss for our city and i think there's many many officers in sfpd that have built relationships with mayor lee and so we have a role to play but it's difficult because we have a lot of personal

relationshipsparking is restricted for the weekend, and the city is preparing for huge crowds.it's an opportunity for people to say their respects and their goodbyes to a great mayor in my opinionmourners will have the opportunity to pay their respects all day long. the mayor's casket will be closed. it's just very sad. it's a tragedy and he was very loved and it just makes you life is precious every moment with your family during the standup pay their respects.... tomorrow also there will a sunday at 3 in afternoon.the casket will not be here thousands of expected, so plan reporting live francisco ali reid kron 4 news (robin)in our other big story ... a judge ruled that two men will stand trial for the deadly ghost ship warehouse fire. derek almena and max harris are facing 36- counts of involuntary manslaughter. as kron4's terisa estacio reports... prosecutors argued the defendants created the conditions ... that led to the fire. it was certainly a contentious day in court. although there are 2 defendents there are nine lawyers - butting heads and arguing about who should be held accountable for the deadly fire. serra. we look forward to fighting this in courtthis comes after firery reaction to testimony in court thursday curtis briggs, what you have seen in two weeks, indictment not on my client max harris, or derick almena but the city of oaklanda defiant end following two weeks of grueling and often graphic testimony on whether defendants max harris and derick almena should stand trial in the deaths of 36 people who perished in the ghost ship fire. for david gregory, who's daughter michaela died in the arms of her long time boyfriend alex vega in fire, it has been a very tough two weeks david gregory, daughter died in the blaze.gregory talked exclusively to kron four news on this last dayof the preliminary hearing. gregory. there is enough, they were the ones who allowed this

place.this man - oakland fire marshall miguel trujillo was the last witness to testify, on the stand he admitted- the city never inspected the warehouse, since being built in 1930, despite the changes in ocupancy which would have mandated upgrades such as fire extinguishers and smoke alarms. also, trujillo added, on the night of the party on dec 2, there was not a permit to hold such a large gathering - and if there was a permit, then it would have required a property to have lighted exit signs, and other safety issues. however, truijullo also added, city and state code infers that not only an owner, but an occupant is responsible for making sure a space is up to code. that is not how the defense for max harris and derick almena see it.tony serra. they are not responsible.tyler smith. the owner, the owner is the one responsible.

(robin) the man acquitted in the murder of kate steinle... is seeking a new trial for his conviction for illegal gun possession. lawyers for jose garcia zarate filed a motion ... claiming the judge failed to properly instruct members of the jury ... before they acquitted him. the defense team says, the jury should have considered that garcia zarate did not know he was holding a gun when it fired. they add, he did not hold the gun long enough to warrant a firearm

possession conviction. the conviction carries a maximum sentence of three years in jail ... and currently he is set to be sentenced for it january 5-th. (robin) happening now:the fbi says it is still searching for the body of sierra lamar. that comes just days after a man was sentenced to life in prison for kidnapping and killing the bay area teen. yesterday the f-b-i tweeted out this flyer... asking for help in finding sierra. antolin garcia torres has been convicted of her murder. but it is still not clear exactly what happened, and her body has not been found. sierra went missing on her way to school in morgan hill back in march of 20-12. (robin)in other bay area news this morning ... police are searching for a man ... who burglarized a pleasanton liquor store. the scene ... was captured on camera. it happened last friday morning at the 'food and beverage liquor store' on stoneridge drive. the video shows the suspect ... crawling through a hole to enter the store. he made off with cigarettes and (robin) a sausalito pilot has been arrested in alabama.

police there say he was transporting 38- pounds of pot. this is the suspect .. yev-geny fark-torovich.. investigators say, police received a report of a suspicious plane landing at pryor regional airfield. so when it landed -- they searched it. investigators say, they found a garbage bag, suitcase and black storage bin .. all packed with marijuana. the sausalito resident is charged with marijuana trafficking. (robin)new this morning ... a mountain lion was spotted in the backyard of a home in san mateo.the homeowner saw the big cat at around 8:30 last night ... in the 800 block of parrott drive.the mountain lion then went back into a wooded area near st. john's cemetery.if you see a mountain lion ... police say you should face the animal ... make yourself look big ... and try to scare it off by making noise and throwing rocks. morning ... a swimmer is recovering ... after being bitten by a sea lion in san francisco. it happened just before 2 o'clock yesterday afternoon near aquatic park.now we are learning exactly what led up to the attack. kron 4's gabe slate has the details. sot - sfpd officer, marine unit - mathew reitersan francisco police officer mathew reiter is with the marine unit stationed near aquatic park in san francisco. around 130pm thursday they got a call from a sailboat captian that they picked up an injured swimmer who was bitten badly by a sea lion in the bay, just outside the aquatic cove here. the swimmer and unidentified 56 year old man was not wearing a wet suit and was swimming alone. sot - sfpd officer, marine unit - mathew reiterofficer reiter said the

thieves are targetting medical marijuana deliveries in concord.as kron4's maureen kelly reports, there have been at least seven robberies.. the latest was this week. it might be green, but it's worth it's weight in gold....and that makes it a lucretive target for enterprising thieves.concord has no medical marijuana dispensaries in town.... but some pot shop offer door to door service....and the combination of cash and a cash crop has been too tempting to pass up for some theives.on monday evening a medical

marijuana delivery driver showed up to an address here on the 1800 block of carlotta drive. the person who answered the door was not expecting that kind of pungent package so the driver walked back to his vehicle.as he turned to go back to his truck, two suspects were waiting for himone of the suspects pointed a handgun at him, he dropped the marijuana he was there to deliver and ran awaythey tried to break into his car to get more marijuana and fled the area. those in the neighborhood were surprised to hear that this armed robbery was the seventh time since april that a medical marijuana delivery guy has been robbed in concord alone.i guess when you can start selling it in a store and rj reynolds starts packaging it you won't have to have it delivered.concord police say their community is not alone in experiencing this crime trend, saying they've heard of other similar robberies happening in neighboring cities.police say they have arrested one person responsible for three of the seven robberys this year. they are unsure if the other four are connected. they are still looking for the two suspects in monday's crime, and say they are also looking for a beatup silver two door car that was seen in the area and could be linked to those

(robin) major changes are coming to the way you access the internet.federal communication s commission has voted to rescind the rule that requires net neutrality.the overturn of the obama-era law means internet providers no longer must treat all web traffic equally.this opens the door for internet providers to possibly charge more for access to certain social media websites or certain video streaming sites.the f-c-c sees the ruling as a return to its proven regulatory approach. meantime ... repealing the f- c-c's ruling in congress is

one option of saving net neutrality. local government filing lawsuits is another. california state senator scott wiener says he will introduce legislation in the new year requiring net neutrality in this state. community is claiming their landlord is unfairly trying to raise their rents ... following the devastating wildfires back in october. kron4's charles clifford has the story. here in sonoma county, more than a thousand homes were destroyed by wildfire in early october. by mid october both the president

and governor jerry brown had declared a state of emergency in sonoma county. that declaration includes language that is meant to prevent price gouging. this afternoon, i spoke with neighbors who say their landlord is violating that declaration.back on october 31st, the residents of the little woods mobile home park in petaluma received this notice from the owners stating that their rents would be going up by roughly 51 percent. many of the people who live here have low or fixed incomes and the news was devastating.soti was mad as hellsoti thought it was a joke but according to attorney evan livingstone, the owners may have broken the law.the rent increase notice was given out less than thirty days after both the president of the united states and governor jerry brown declared a state of emergency in sonoma county following the devastating wildfires that started in early october.california penal code 396, states that once a disaster has been declared by either the president or the governor, rents cannot be raised by more than 10 percent for 30 days. sotso the owners here think that doesn't apply to their rent increase. we

think it does.kron 4's reached out to the owners of the property on thursday afternoon, but no one was available to comment for this story.. livingstone concedes that the owners do have the right to raise rents to cover their expenses, but it shouldn't have happened while the state of emergency was still in place.meanwhile, the residents i spoke to say they would agree to a rent increase but hopefully it would be something far less than 50 percent.soti get one check a month. social security. i'm a senior citizensotmaybe they give us a little increase and we go about our lives finally the tenants and owners have an arbitration scheduled for early january.in petaluma, charles clifford kron 4 news. (robin) a firefighter on the front line of the largest wildfire in southern california -- has died. cal fire identified him .... as 32 year old cory iverson. they say, he leaves behind a pregnant wife .... and 2- year old daughter. dozens of police and fire vehicles escorted his body to the coroner's office in ventura county.. iverson's death

is the second blamed on the thomas fire. which continues to ravage ventura and santa barbara counties ... burning more than 242- thousand acres. (robin) california is ordering utility companies to do more to keep power lines from sparking wildfires. the state public utilities comission toughened its rules requiring power companies to keep trees and brush away from lines in high risk areas. the ruling may be partially in response to lawsuits placing blame on p-g&-e ... in the deadly north bay wildfires. though the official cause has not yet been determined. (robin) in the east bay... oakland police are looking for the man who raped... kidnapped... and robbed a woman at gunpoint. it happened around 3-30 yesterday morning on east 31st street near highland hospital. after the attack... the woman took herself to the hospital. anyone with any tips is asked to call police. ... the man accused of running over a crowd protesting a white nationalist rally in virginia -- is facing an upgraded murder charge. james fields junior was initially charged with second-degree murder for the death of heather heyer in charlottesville back in august. 36- others were hurt in that attack. prosecutors say fields will now face a first-degree murder charge. if convicted... fields could face a sentence of 20-years to life in prison. (robin) republican senator marco rubio is not on-board with the current version of the g-o-p tax plan. rubio says he's voting "no"... unless a more generous child-tax-credit is included. rubio's office says he has been working for months on a

(robin) covered california is extending a deadline for insurance sign ups --- as enrollement surges. you now have until december 22 to sign up for coverage that begins january 1-st. and while the enrollment period ends on december 15-th for most states... californians have until january 31-st to sign up. covered california says this week alone ... they've seen more than 38-thousand people sign up. and so far this year enrollment is up 17 percent. (robin) california's attorney general is suing the trump administration over debt relief claims from thousands of students.. the complaint -- federal education authorities are refusing to process debt relief claims. the claims are from students who had federal loans to attend corinthian colleges.... which included heald, everest, and wyotech.

the lawsuit says the students are eligible for help after courts ruled that they were defrauded by corinthian - in violation of consumer protection laws. (robin) and for the 13th straight year... students are continuing to apply to the university of california system...in record numbers. preliminary data released yesterday by the u.c system shows nearly 220 thousand prospective undergraduates applied for at least one u.c. school for the fall of 20-18. the figures include about 181- thousand applications to become freshman ... and about 40 thousand from transfer students. that's an increse of nearly six percent from last year's stack of applications. ( james ) a firefighter on the front line of the thomas fire has died. cal fire has identified him as cory iverson. he leaves behind a pregnant wife and a two-year- old daughter. police and fire crews escorted his body to the coroner's office in ventura county. iverson's death is the second blamed on the thomas fire. authorities say a 70-year-old woman died from smoke inhalation and injuries from a car crash... as she tried to evacuate. the thomas fire has burned almost 250- thousand acres. it's now 35-percent contained. ( james ) california is ordering utility companies to do more to keep power lines from sparking wildfires. the state public utilities commission is toughening its rules... requiring power companies to keep trees and brush away from lines in high risk areas. this is at

( darya ) three workers are recovering... after two trusses collapsed inside a santa building that's under construction. this happened yesterday afternoon on cleveland avenue. two of the workers were able to

free themselves from the fallen lumber... and firefighters did get the third worker out. the trio suffered minor injuries... and will all make full recoveries. answered the door was not expecting that kind of pungent package so the driver walked back to his vehicle.as he turned to go back to his truck, two suspects were waiting for himone of the suspects pointed a handgun at him, he dropped the marijuana he was there to deliver and ran awaythey tried to break into his car to get more marijuana and fled the area. those in the neighborhood were surprised to hear that this armed robbery was the seventh time since april that a medical marijuana delivery guy has been robbed in concord alone.i guess when you can start selling it in a store and rj reynolds starts packaging it you won't have to have it delivered.concord police say their community is not alone in experiencing this

crime trend, saying they've heard of other similar robberies happening in neighboring cities.police say they have arrested one person responsible for three of the seven robberys this year. they are unsure if the other four are connected. they are still looking for the two suspects in monday's crime, and say they are also looking for a beatup silver two door car that was seen in the area and could be linked to those suspects.maureen kelly kron4 news. the public is invited to visit his casket from 8 a-m until 7 p-m. and then on sunday... a celebration of life is planned to honor the life of mayor lee. it's being held at city hall and the public is invited to attend. the fire department will hang a flag in memory of mayor ed lee. by 7-am, the casket will be escorted by police up the steps of city hall and into the rotunda.

two men will stand trial for the oakland ghost ship warehouse fire ... that left 36 people dead. derek almena and max harris are facing 36-counts of involuntary manslaughter. prosecutors argued the men created the conditions that led to the fire. but their lawyers say the city of oakland is to blame. an oakland fire marshall was the last witness to testify and claimed the city had never inspected the warehouse ... since it was built in 1930. but the official said it was the repsonsibility of the property management to make sure the building was up to code. (james) the judge says there was enough evidence for the men to

stand trial next year. ( darya ) he was acquitted of the murder of kate steinle... now... jose garcia zarate is seeking a new trial on his conviction for illegal gun possession. defense attorneys claim the judge failed to properly instruct members of the jury. the defense team says the jury should have considered that garcia zarate didn't know he was holding a gun. the conviction carries a maximum sentence of three years. garcia zarate's sentencing is set for january fifth. ( darya ) happening now... the f-b-i says it's not giving up the search for the body of sierra lamar. this comes just days after a man was sentenced to life in prison for kidnapping and killing the bay area teen. the f-b-i tweeted out this flyer... asking for help in finding sierra. antolin garcia torres was convicted of her murder. but it's still not clear exactly what happened to her. sierra

( james ) five people were injured in antioch after a suspect allegedly drove a car into another one intentionally. officers responded just after 8 a-m to the collision on terrace view avenue wednesday. three people in

one car had severe injuries. a man and his young daughter were in the other car. investigators determined the people of the two cars had an argument stemming from an ongoing dispute. all five people were taken to the hospital and are in stable condition. ( darya ) a sacramento man has plzeaded guilty to three counts of murder by suffocating his three children and attempting to kill his wife. robert hodges will be sentenced next month to life in prison without the possibility of parole. the plee agreement drops the possibility of the death penalty. the district attorney said he agreed to a life term because of the surviving family's desire for a quick and certain conclusion to the heartbreaking case. man accused of running over a crowd protesting a white nationalist rally in virginia -- is facing an upgraded murder charge. james fields junior was initially charged with second-degree murder for the death of heather heyer in charlottesvill e back in august. 36- others were hurt in that attack. prosecutors say fields will now face a first-degree murder charge. if convicted... fields could face a sentence of 20-years to life in prison.
