thursday was also sent to the hospital. a third swimmer says he was nipped in the foot tuesday but it didn't break the skin.these incidents has the national park service posting signs warning people of the danger and say the cove is closed to swimmers until at least monday. at this point they do not know if it's a seal or a sea lion involved in this incidents but many suspect these attacks are the work of one particular animal. we don't know if the seals disease or not we really haven't seen the seal but i just think that it makes sense to use a little caution in this area so that more people are injuredboth the south end rowing club and the neighboring dolphin club are also asking their members to stay out of the water. before the cove was closed, hard core swimmers still went out in the water, even though they witnessed the aftermath of today's attack.were in their home just like if you were in a park and you saw someone get bit by a dog you wouldn't avoid going back to the park the next dayalthough some were more cautious than usual.i was never worried but now i'm like, i don't know i'm not sure i want to be bit so i stayed in closer todaythe national park service says they will evaulate the situation after the weekend and determine if the need to close the cove to swimmers beyond monday.....but they are hopeful the problem animal swims somewhere else. maureen kelly kron4 news

paid is respects to mayor ed lee. this is video as he arrived to view mayor lee lying in state in the rotunda of city hall this morning. willie brown is the one you see in the long red coat. he pauses inside the rotunda for about a minute... and eventually tips his hat and gives a salute to the mayor. kron four spoke with mayor willie brown before he went inside city hall... this is what he had to say about his late friend... willie brown says "ed lee did not acquire the job by any means through his own initiation. he didn't say i'm qualified. he didn't say vote for me. he didn't say i will entertain you. he did none of the above. he was purely a person who did the jobs that he was assigned and he never sought any of those jobs including the mayorship." (2-shot/vicki) there is a major development in a case surrounding the september, 2016 beating death of 88 year old "miss flo" douglas, of san jose.(2-shot-steve) as kron four's rob fladeboe reports now, a grand jury has indicted three men for hermurder. these young men, zachary cuen, johnny brown and willie king, all three just 20 years old. have been indicted by a santa clara county grand jury. they are accused of murder in the september 2016 beating death of floavis douglas, who was known by one and all as "miss flo."lance daugherty/dep. dist. attorney ".....miss flo was a vital member of the community and her loss has been felt by a tremendous amount of people. our office wants to move this case along and bring justice for what happened..." 88 year old flo douglas died as a

dollars. in may... 13 workers were injured when they fell 20 feet when a temporary mold collapsed. according to the department of industrial relations... "significant safety lapses" caused the collapse. investigators also discovered the mold had not been designed, installed or inspected properly. subcontractors also failed to ensure the mold could withstand the intended load. five... a judge temporarily blocks new birth control rules from president trump. the federal judge in philadelphia has ordered the trump administration not to enforce those rules that could significantly reduce women's access to free birth control. the injunction issued today stops the government from enforcing the policy change to president obama's health care law. the law required most companies to cover birth control at no additional cost. the new policy would allow more categories of employers to opt out of providing free birth control to women by claiming religious or moral objections. california, washington, and massachusetts have sued the trump administration over the rules. (pam) twice in two days swimmers have been hospitalized after being bitten by a marine mammal.. while swimming in and around aquatic park cove. now federal officials have closed the area to swimmers until monday. kron4's maureen kelly reports ... now a third swimmer who was bitten eariler in the week, is coming forward. scary of course scary of course because i was by myself it was getting dark and i was a quarter-mile from any point of getting out so yes gary definitelyanders jakobsson was swimming near the sea wall on tuesday when he was bitten by something unseen underwater....he's not sure if it was a seal or a sea lion since both frequent the area, but he knows it wasn't a shark. you like a horse how they bite they use their lips so soft but very powerful and the whole foot was it was in its mouth so it must've been so it must've been a big animal to get my whole foot in therebut the incident didn't end there

he bit me on the right foot on the way back on the way back same same creature probably slap my left foot a couple times so yes at that point my heart rate started getting increased but i try to stay calm and focus on getting back to shore because i was about a quarter-mile away fromthe bite didn't break his skin.....jakobsson is a professional swimmer who is training to swim the english channel....in nearly 20 years of open water swimming, this is his first encounter like this with wildlife so he has no plans to stick to pools forever. but he does think it's a good idea that the national park service is closing the area, since the other two victims, one bitten thursday the other this morning, have had to be transported to the hospital for treatment.at this point at this point that would be the safer route to go, we have to figure out what's going on and take measurements to protect our swimmers that tackle that attack on thursday was bad right now it's suspected that only one animal is responsible for all of the attacks.this is an usual thing this is an on usual way for a marine mammal to act so i would tend to think maybe it's the same one but i don't really have any evidence for thatthe national park service will evaluate wheter or not to reopen the cove to swimming on monday. maureen kelly kron4 news

(steve) calming winds are givign firefighters a chance to gain ground against the thomas fire burning in southern california. this comes as crews are mourning the death of a firefighter killed battling the fire. firefighters put these black bands on their badges in honor of cory iverson. he leaves behind a pregnant wife and a two-year- old daughter. iverson's death is the second blamed on the thomas fire. he was just 32-years-old when he died.

(steve)( 3 mon vo) a new development in a story we've been following for months out of the south bay. you may recall the tragic murder of 88 year old "miss flo" douglas during a botched home invasion robbery last year in san jose. tonight, as kron four's rob fladeboe reports now, the case could come to trial soon amid a grand jury indictment against three alleged perpetrators. these young men, zachary cuen, johnny brown and willie king, all three just 20 years old. have been indicted by a santa clara county grand jury. they are accused of murder in the september 2016 beating death of floavis douglas, who was known by one and all as "miss flo."lance daugherty/dep. dist. attorney ".....miss flo was a vital member of the community and her loss has been felt by a tremendous amount of people. our office wants to move this case along and bring justice for what happened..." 88 year old flo douglas died as a result of a beating she suffered during a home invasion robbery at her home here on cragmont avenue. zachary cuen and johnny brown are alleged to have punched and kicked douglas during the botched robbery while willie king, whom was first charged

(steve) in the east bay... a woman was the victim of a purse snatching at a coffee shop. it happened wednesday afternoon at the mount diablo starbucks in lafayette. according to the police... the woman tried to hold on to her purse but the man pulled it out of her hands. he then took off in a get-away car. that get- away car was impounded the next day as evidence in the purse snaching. authorities were able to identify the car on surviellance... and another officer spotted it. chief christensen says there has been a rise in robberies at bay area coffee shops. chief eric christensen/laf ayette police department: "a crime that we may not have seen a year ago but now we have seen an increase because people have now learned, don't leave your laptop in the car, don't leave your purse inside the car and they are taking those items with them as they sit comfortable inside the restaurant or coffee shop." authorities authorities say they have made contact with the get-

(pam) a warning in san mateo... after a mountain lion is spotted in the backyard of a home. the homeowner saw the big cat at around 8-30- last night ... in the 800- block of parrott drive. the mountain lion then went back into a wooded area ... near saint john's cemetery. if you see a mountain lion ... police say, you should face the animal ... make yourself look big ... and try to scare it off by making noise and throwing rocks.

(steve) and take a look at this... a small dog survived a coyote attack in a backyard brawl in illinois. the dog -- boozer -- has been a part of the family for about 15 years. you can see it gets dragged through the backyard until the owner chases the coyote off. the owner says he wants this incident to be a lesson to others. (pam) new tonight at six... police are looking for two people accused of stealing prescription pills from an el cerrito walgreens. the incident happened last tuesday night... but police just released these images today. this was at the walgreens on san pablo avenue. police say, the duo rushed the pharmacy counter... jumped over it and took an undisclosed amount of pills.
