(will) the man accused of driving under the influence and slamming his car into a parked chp s-u-v on the side of 8-80 in hayward ....killing a chp officer has been identified. he is 22-year- old mohammed ali of hayward....' he is facing multiple criminal charges -- including murder. kron4's ali reid has the new details these court documents state, mohammed ali got into an argument with his wife while in manteca, then made a conscious decision to drive to hayward . all while knowing he was impaired by marijuana and alcohol.pkgaccording to officers, mohammed ali admitted he ingested marijuana, and drank alcohol before getting behind the wheel on christmas eve. during the nearly hour long drive from manteca to hayward, records show ali admits he should have pulled over at least 3 times, but decided to

keep driving.drinking and driving is socially unacceptable. smoking marijuana and driving is as unacceptable.witnesses say the 22 year old, seen here in a previous mug shot, was driving recklessly christmas eve swerving through lanes, and eventually onto the shoulder of interstate 880 where the chp s-u-v was parked. according to investigators, preliminary analysis of ali's cadillac indicates he was driving at about 120 mph when he crashed into the c-h-p cruiser. officer andrew camilleri was killed. his partner officer jonathan velasquez was seriously injured.we extend our very deep sympathies to the family of officer camilleri, to his friends and chp family. we also hope for a speedy and full recovery of officer velasquez.in the meantime, ali is facing a number of felony charges including second degree murder and driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol. he is still being treated for his injuries. however, within the next couple of days, officials say he will be transported to santa rita jail.this is something we need to get out to the public. driving high is not ok. it's like drinking and driving, like any other drug. standupalameda district attorney nancy o'malley says since thanksgiving, hundreds of drivers have been arrested for d-u-i and 6 have died in her county alone.reporting live in castro valley ali reid kron 4 news (will) we have new numbers

(will) a scary scene at the village at corte madera. an armed robbery outside a shopping mall put the place on lockdown yesterday morning. now police are looking for the suspect. kron4's spencer blake has the details.. "i saw multiple police vehicles with the sirens on behind the nordstrom store from the highway.""then i heard somebody in nordstrom saying something, but i missed that too. you know, that were just saying what happened earlier this morning."security and police officials say the robber was going after a u-p-s driver.this area is where delivery trucks pull up to loading docks behind the big stores.police say the robber got away."well san quentin is right over there.i - marin? it just doesn't usually happen in marin so it's a little surprising."(nats - pa announcement)though none of the action was happening inside the store, nordstrom employees were escorted to this evacuation assembly area.

it's a town-owned lot across the street from the mall, and it's designated for just such an occasion.a couple employees tell kron four they aren't allowed to talk on camera, but that they were waiting outside for about an hour before the scene was safe and clear. "everybody was fine. i went in, bought some things. nobody had any issues, everybody seemed fine. nobody felt nervous. everybody seemed good."a u-p-s spokesman says they're grateful their driver is safe, and they're working with police during their investigation.the company also expressed appreciation to people and businesses who shared photos, videos, and witness accounts to police. a big story this morning.... an elderly woman's electric blanket goes up in flames and sets her on fire. now... the woman is recovering at the u-c davis burn unit. it happened in oakley. the woman had to be airlifted to the hospital. her daughter says that she heard screaming and then saw her mother running down the

hall with her back on fire. she says she doesn't know how the electric blanket caught on fire.

5 a-m at 98th avenue and sunnyside street on new year's day. a dark colored sedan was speeding on 98th avenue-- hit the female pedestrian-- and fled the scene. she was rushed to the hostpital but she died. police have not released her name at this time. (will)in the north bay ... police are investigating a road rage incident lead to a shooting. officers responded to reports of gun shots monday night in santa rosa. police say the victim was driving on calistoga road and dupont drive when a car stopped behind them. the suspect tailgated the victim for a couple blocks and eventually fired a shot at their car. the victim was not injured in the shooting coming up next on the kron 4 morning news ... right now mountain view police are searching for some thieves that stole an a-t-m. we'll tell you what they said. and here's a live look outside... at the embarcadero.

(will)mountain view police department says that thieves stole an atm from the front lobby of a popular restaurant. now -- investigators are now asking for the public's help in identifying the thieves. kron 4's charles clifford has details. according to the mountain view police department, thieves using a stolen truck from cupertino, broke into the lobby of michaels restaurant here at shoreline park and stole and atm.investigators believe the thieves smashed the front windows of the restaurant with the truck and then removed the atm, which was bolted to the ground. the break in most likely happened late monday evening or early tuesday morning. police found the atm discarded along nearby charleston road. the money had been removed and the atm was burning.sotkatie nelson says these individuals set this atm on fire. i don't know what they were doing in terms of trying to get it open, or possibly remove fingerprints, but they did significant damage to the machine.police

also found the stolen truck about a < mile away from the restaurant.sotkatie nelson says the truck that was used in this incident was stolen out of cupertino. i don't know exactly when it was taken but it couldn't have been long ago.michaels restaurant sits on the edge of the shoreline golf course. chris banta plays here several times a week and eats at michaels frequently. he was surprised that anyone would steal their atm.sotchris banta says i can't even imagine how they would do that. it was bolted down.at this point, police have been unable to identify the thieves. they also haven't located any surveillance video that might help identify the suspects. they are now hoping that the someone will come forward with information.sotkatie nelson says at this point we are just trying to get some witnesses to come forward. possibly someone who might have been out on an early morning bike ride or jog and seen something just to help us because right now we have no suspect information.anyone with information is asked to contract the mountain view police department. michaels restaurant is scheduled to reopen on wednesday. in mountain view, charles clifford kron 4 news.

after the tsa discovered an unattended bag. those passengers who had already cleared security were moved to nearby terminal a and sheltered in place there, so they would not have to be re-screened. about a dozen planes sat on the tarmac, either having just landed or awaiting take off. travelers could be seen anxiously checking on their departure times. a few were a bit nervous when the bomb squad showed up but most seemed to be taking the emergency in stride. street has been friends with our family for years. she is an older lady. and from what i understand the electric blanket caught on fire and she just jumped up and was on fire so instead of rolling and trying to get it out she wasn't aware of that was in so much pain and..so freaked out by the whole thingthe 87 year old woman caught on fire in this oakley house. happened around four thirty in the morning on new year's day. her daughter tells me on the phone that she heard screamingthen saw her mother running down the hallway with her back on fire. that daughter then ran to help her. she said she doesn't know how the electric blanket caught fire but it did and left her mother with second and third degree burns on her back. the woman says her mother has health issues including alzheimers and doesn't remember how the fire ignited. neighbors i talked with are hoping their friend recovers quickly.god bless her all our

( james ) new this morning... in berkeley... police are looking for possible witnesses to a serious hit-and-run crash that happened last month. a woman was severely injured when a car hit her back on december 18th on san pablo avenue at haskell street. police say the victim is still hospitalized... and she is suffering from significant trauma. right now... police are looking for the driver or passengers of a dark colored s-u-v. police believe they may have seen the crash... and can help out in their investigation. ( will ) a u-p-s driver is safe this morning... after being targeted by an armed robber behind a north bay nordstrom. "the village at corte madera" had to be locked down tuesday morning -- and partly evacuated -- for over an hour around 10 o'clock. police say one person was pistol whipped by the robber. the thief -- armed with a handgun -- escaped in a white van and is still on the loose. police say armed robberies in broad daylight are not common in the area. the

searching for this man. he's accused of sexually assaulting and robbing a woman who works at harker middle school. the attack happened tuesday morning inside a classroom - around 6:30. police are increasing their presence at the school and beefing up patrols in the area. ( will ) in the north bay... santa rosa police are investigating the sexual assault of an 11-year-old girl. it all started when police were called to a home... after a father said a man shined a light into his daughter's room. police

arrested francisco cortes. the next day... the father went back to police... claiming the suspect had sexually assaulted his daughter. he said his daughter talked to the suspect on snapchat. police say cortes exchanged thousands of messages with the 11 year old... some were sexual in nature. ( james ) we now know the name of the suspected d-u-i driver... involved in a crash that killed a c-h-p officer on christmas eve. he's mohammed ali of hayward. he's now facing a number of charges... including murder. authorities say ali admitted to using pot and drinking alcohol before getting behind the wheel. while driving from manteca to hayward... ali told officers he should have pulled over... but decided to keep going. a preliminary analysis of ali's car... shows he going around 120 miles per hour when he crashed into the c-h-p cruiser. officer andrew camilleri was killed.

his partner officer jonathan velasquez was seriously injured.

speeding with his hazard lights on. after a chase... he was taken into custody on suspicion of d-u-i. but while searching his s- u-v -- police say they found the body of a woman wrapped in blanket. her name has not been released to the public. ( will ) the man acquitted in the murder of kate steinle will be back in court friday. jose garcia zarate will be sentenced for illegal gun possession. the conviction carries a maximum sentence of three years in prison. but he might not serve that much time. garcia zarate has been in jail since the day of the shooting. ( james ) police are looking for the thieves who made off with an a-t-m... during a smash and grab burglary in mountain view. they say the thieves used a stolen truck to smash through the front door of a restaurant... to get to the a- t-m. the truck was found abandoned about a block away. the burned a-t-m was found broken apart and empty in a google parking lot a few miles away. ( james ) a package thief is caught on video stealing

from a home in oakland. the victims say two packages were taken. one box contained cookies from grandma. when the thief realized what was inside... he threw the cookies on the ground. the other package is still missing. the victims have nicknamed the thief the "cookie monster"... and they're hoping he'll be caught soon. accused of robbing and sexually assaulting a middle school employee inside a classroom. ( will ) kron4's lydia pantazas is at harker middle school with video of the man police are looking for. ( lydia ) happening now... san jose police are searching for this man. he's accused of sexually assaulting and robbing a woman who works at harker middle school. the attack happened tuesday morning inside a classroom - around 6:30. police are increasing their presence at the school and beefing up patrols in the area.

( will ) a big story this morning.... an elderly woman's electric blanket goes up in flames and catches her on fire.( james ) now... the woman is recovering at the u-c davis burn unit. kron 4's j-r stone talked to the woman's daughter. i did and she still sounded a bit shaken over what

happened. the woman's mother is still in the hospital. she was actually airlifted from outside this iron house elementary school yesterday morning. neighbors i talked with described the ordeal. the lady that lives down the street has been friends with our family for years. she is an older lady. and from what i understand the electric blanket caught on fire and she just jumped up and was on fire so instead of rolling and trying to get it out she wasn't aware of that was in so much pain and..so freaked out by the whole thingthe 87 year old woman caught on fire in this oakley house. happened around four thirty in the morning on new year's day. her daughter tells me on the phone that she heard screamingthen saw her mother running down the hallway with her back on fire. that daughter then ran to help her. she said she doesn't know how the electric blanket caught fire but it did and left her mother with second and third degree burns on her back. the woman says her mother has health issues including alzheimers and doesn't remember how the fire ignited. neighbors i talked with are hoping their friend recovers quickly.god bless her all our prayers go out to herit's not the first story i've heard about electric blankets so my

( will ) a u-p-s driver is safe this morning... after being targeted by an armed robber behind a north bay nordstrom. "the village at corte madera" had to be locked down tuesday morning -- and partly evacuated -- for over an hour around 10 o'clock. police say one person was
