rain of 2018 moved in today. showers started this morning and the rain continues. there are even a few isolated storms poppiing up around the bay area. you can see the rain on doppler radar. most of it has been light so far but we will see pockets of heavy rain as some of those thunderstorms move through. on the satellite image you can see as high pressure has finally given way and let rain return. the air very unstable on the back side of this storm and that may be enough to cause a few thunderstorms. you can also see more storms also headed our way. the forecast model shows rain moving through tonight and then turning to showers. showers will likely continue on thursday but will be widely scattered. rain will again intensify thursday night into friday morning. highs tomorrow will be in the 50s and mid 60s with a few showers. showers and cooler weather will continue on friday. we're expecting partly cloudy skies on saturday and sunday. but more storms are expected by next tuesday.

office of emergency management arrived in coffee park in a motorcade and briefed the media in front of a burned out cul de sac. we will be here arms locked will state and local officials to help california recover from the fires rain cut the q and a short....but not before the director of the state emergency management pointed out that much has been done to address the potential of flooding....which is always a problem after fire scotches the earth.properties have been surrounded by straw waddles....and sand bags and more waddles are out protecting the storm drains.we feel relatively confident that that going into this rain event we are going to be in pretty good shape and we have teams that are ready to respond immediatelyshaven if we start to see some localized flooding or some fast movingwater. and we're prepared to deal with thata spokesman for fema says those residents who's homes did not burn to the ground might not escape from mother nature's wrath....especially if they live downhill from burned out areas.floods follow firesjust as surely as night follows dayso if you live down stream if you live down hill from this fire consider flood insurancebut be aware....buying flood insurance today, doesn't mean it goes into effect

(vicki) happening now... police are searching for the gunman who shot a woman during a robbery in san francisco. it happened just after midnight....in the nob hill neighborhood near sutter and larkin streets. police say the woman was walking...when a man got out of a car...approached her... and snatched her purse and cellphone. the man then pulled out a gun and shot at the victim as she ran away...before leaving the

(vicki) and happening now in berkeley. police are looking for possible witnesses to a serious hit-and-run collision. it happened december 18th... on san pablo avenue at haskell street. there officers say a female pedestrian was severely injured when a s-u-v hit her. the victim was taken to the hospital..and remains there tonight with "significant trauma". officers believe the suspect's s-u-v was dark colored...and similar to a chevrolet trailblazer. (grant) happening now... the mavericks surfing competition window is open as of today. the competition started in 1999 and brings in the top surfers from around the world. mavericks is held at pillar point harbor-- near half moon bay. last year the competition was canceled after the previous organizers filed for bankruptcy. it is now organized by the world surf league-- the competition

(grant) spotify is facing a one-point-six billion dollar lawsuit -- accused of violating u-s copyright laws. wixen music publishing... claims that spotify used more than ten thousand songs without a license. those songs include tom petty's "free falling," and works by artists like the doors, neil young and missy elliot. u-s law requires two copyrights for every song - one for the actual recording, and one for the composition. wixen says its seeking the maximum-allowed damages of 150- thousand dollars per song. spotify has not commented. picture the worker does not want to go on camera.. after receiving many death threats about the fight that erupted her at this kennel. here's how it unfolded shadows owner posted on facebook - these images she said she dropped her dog friday at the kennel and then when she picked him up on sunday this is what she discovered. she says her calls to the kennel's owner have gone unanswered - demanding to know more about his stiches and drainage pipes protruding from his body."they were no where near each other one was in a kennel, the other walking by, they started to cage fight, they were fighting at the gate, somehow the dog got out and they pulled me into the kennel. anothr worker got the dogs separated and we got the dog to the vet.the worker - says she wanted to talk and clarify what has been posted on facebook."it is not true what is one facebook. the dog was not mauled.the worker says the whole issue has been quite upsetting.now people are calling up, calling us a piece of shit, hope the place goes to hell, that it burns up. shadow's owner tells kron four news, she is still looking for many answers, such as the medical records of the other dog involved and why it took so long several days after the fight to tell them about it. and. they want to talk with the owner of the kennel in walnut creek, terisa estacio kron four news (grant)(anchor) time

the latest on the discrimination claim.... (catherine) google is facing a revised class-action lawsuit...it claims that google underpaid women in comparison with their male counterparts.. the original lawsuit was dismissed last month - with a court ruling that it defined the class of affected workers too broadly. now - a fourth plaintiff has been added - aside from the three former female employees who originally sued. the lawsuit also claims that the company asked new hires about their prior salaries.january first - a new california law went into effect - which prohibits employers fromasking applicants about that... this lawsuit is separate from the department of labor's investigation into google's pay practices.. google says its own analysis shows no gender pay gap. grant? here at this kennel in walnut creek.....a dog fight erupts and one dog named shadow is injured.the owner posting on facebook that when she picked up her pet from the northgate kennel and catery....she found him like these pictures.she says she wants answers. a worker at the kennel says that the injured pit bull initiated the attack. and workers at the kennel did all they could.they say that the dogs were not together and that the injured pit bull got out of its kennel somehow and started fighting with another dog on a leash.

"we add more food to their diet."the tigers aren't the only animals that will stay outside. leopards will also stay outdoors. staff will give them more straw to lie on. some animals will also have shelters outside that they can go in. some are heated, others are not."we have a box for our otters if they don't want to go in the back and want to stay out," said dancho. "we'll give them an area where they can stay out and still have a nest box outside."despite the cold the turtles are still outside, but their water is heated."we make sure they get a lot of fresh water," said dancho. "a lot of people don't realize when it's this cold it's actually very dry."if the water outside doesn't all freeze the ducks will stay outside; otherwise, they'll be moved indoors. dancho says it isn't just the animals that he looks out for when winter weather hits."the thing to do here is make sure our staff stays protected," he said. "the animals have their natural instincts and they know."some of the animals, like the alligators, have to go inside if it gets too cold. dancho says as of early wednesday afternoon they had not officially decided to close the zoo on thursday because of the storm, though they're expecting it will be closed. either way, staff will be there to take care of the animals.
