all in the same car - a black cadilac escalade. as kron4's camila bernal reports -- there are still a lot of unanswered questions tonight... the california highway patrol is continuing this investigation into an overnight shooting that happened on highway 280 just before 3 this morning.take vo chp telling us that anywhere between three to six people were driving southbound near the alemany exit and that's when they were shot.chp has not released the identity or condition of the victims but said they were interviewed this morning by their officers. chp also not giving us details on how the shooting happened and said that it was unclear is the shooter was on the side of the road or driving on the highway. cbe: chp finished gathering evidence on the highway just before 7 this morning but they say this investigation is not finished.reporting in san francisco, camila bernal kron 4 news (catherine) there have been more than 100 freeway shootings in the bay area since 20-15. most of them -- in the east bay. now - the state transportation agency has agreed to build a surveillance (catherine)

(grant) a man is behind bars tonight... accused of inappropriately touching a teen in sunnyvale... this is the suspect... 23-year-old henry reed... police say they were called out by a school official..who said the suspect was displaying some sort of inappropriate behavior with a 17-year-old girl... investigators say they believe the suspect touched the teen inappropriately...and forced her to do the same to him.the suspect previously worked with children as a part-time musician assistant around santa clara county.. but tonight police are not saying where exactly he worked... happened late last night just outside the rohnert park police station. officers inside the building say they heard shots from outside. when they walked out...they spotted a man with a gun yelling...kill me, kill me. for the next couple of hours... negotiators tried to get the man to give up as people at the apartments next door tried to see what was happening.. michelle may/witness says " they kept yelling for him to put it down. come on anthony, put it down and he kept yelling profanities at them." police say as soon as the officer fired his weapon, he rushed over to help the man. an ambulance was already on the scene -- and the man is expected to survive. to avoid any conflict of interest... the sonoma county sheriff's department will be investigating the shooting. (grant) a san jose high school tennis coach is missing and presumed dead...after a skydiving accident in new zealand. authorities say tyler nii appears to have died last wednesday...after he

plunged into a lake in the south island of new zealand. the 27-year-old victim... was a tennis coach at archbishop mitty high school in san jose. new zealand police say another male skydiver was also injured in the skydiving accident...howe ver ...he suffered minor injuries...and will be ok. search crews are currently using sonar devices..to search for him. dry on wednesay. a much colder storm moves in on thursday to bring some gusty winds and rain. cold showers continue on friday with a possible dusting of snow on some of our higher peaks. more showers are possible on sunday too. lawrence karnow: we had areas of thick fog today that were slow to burn off in some parts of the bay area. that kept their temperatures rather cool. while thoses places that had the sun like santa rosa saw their temperatures soar in the mid 60s. it will be partly cloudy tonight with stars and areas of dense fog. the fog will be very thick again in some of the valleys. on the satellite image you can see the storms off the coast but high pressure will send them well to the north for the weekend. we will see an offshore wind which should help bring warmer temperatures to parts of the bay area especially near the coast and south bay. it should be a good weekend to travel around the state. there will likely be tule fog in the central valley again so be careful. highs around the bay area will be in the 50s to upper 60s. there will be a few more clouds on sunday but plenty of sunshine and mild temperatures. on monday the clouds will (grant) montecito mudslide survivors gathered in santa barbara to share stories of their experiences. this is a look at some of the aftermath...damaged homes and roads. these devastating mudslides led to at least 20 deaths...and four people are still missing tonight. as the community comes together, many are happy to be alive.

(catherine) happening today... the nation is honoring the late martin luther king junior. the civil rights icon would have been 89 years old today.. people across the country were marking the day.... thousands joined a march in san antonio, texas, for example.. people in tennessee celebrated with annual parades.... and in georgia - there was a special church service. martin luther king day is always the third monday in january...and this year it fell on dr. king's actual birthday. station.....and what started as a trickle of marchers....soo n turned a stream of people joining the large crowd already waiting to walk together and honor the civil rights hero.many held signs with dr king's likeness...and inspirational slogans....like this one reading to ignore evil is to become accomplice to it. this 11 year old girl wearing a mlk sweatshirt said it felt good to make her presence felt. we have had a lot of racism this year this past year so maybe standing up will break the racismlt governor gavin newsom brought two of his daughters to march. he says the presidents recent vulgar and deragatory comments when discussing immigration last week made this attending this celebration even more important. there's a stronger imperative and i think that's indicative of the turnout today for people to step up and stand up symbolically subsequently calling this out. in so many ways we didn't need those comments about haiti in africa and el salvador to remind us who's in the white house in terms of his bigotry

(catherine) new registration rules are kicking in for air-bnb in san francisco....and the results appear to be that the site has lost thousands of hosts in the city... by tuesday - all hosts must be registered.meaning air-bnb and rival site home-away won't allow any hosts who are unregistered. last may - after a court battle - the short term rental sites reached an agreement with san francisco. it led to more limits on rentals and tougher registration requirements. roughly 22-hundred hosts have met the new requirements to do business...but that's way down from the nearly 85-hundred listings the city had in early august. city officials had argued that the tougher limits would prevent people from turning their properties into permanent hotels in an area where housing is already scarce.

police are investigating separate burglary and robbery cases that occurred at stores in sebastopol. the first incident happened around one this morning... at the lucky store on gravenstein highway north. there officers found the store's sliding glass entrance door was broken. the male suspect made off with money...stolen from the store's cash register. then around one 34 a.m... an armed robbery occured at a seven-eleven store on pleasant hill avenue north. there a male suspect entered the store with a gun... and demanded cash. both suspects in the separate incidents...are at large tonight. (catherine) a robbery suspect led police on a chase friday - that ended inside a chipotle restaurant. it began friday night when a marin county sheriff's deputy noticed a car with a badly damaged windshield. when he tried to pull it over....he says the driver parked and then ran away - towards the northgate mall. the man ran inside a chipotle

restaurant where he was later arrested. a passenger was also taken into custody. authorities say the car was linked to a recent robbery and assault in san rafael. (grant) an argument over a lost cell phone turned into an all-out brawl in a newark pizza parlor. it happened at "john's incredible pizza company." two large groups of people began shouting at each other and then started hitting each other. after the fight... a store manager handed the lost cellphone over to police. apparently... it had been left in the lost and found hours earlier. only minor injuries were reported and no arrests were made. students and teachers have come down with a noro-virus at a school in san francisco. staff at mckinley elementary school say they noticed that students had symptoms....right at the beginning of the new semester. the k- through-fifth-grade school had a lot of people absent leading up to this holiday weekend. 53 students and four teachers. it's unclear how many people have been showing symptoms since school got out on friday. the father of a kindergartner who caught the virus says it didn't last long. (catherine) noro-virus is very contagious, and affects the stomach and intestines... health officials say it's important to disinfect everything and often when the virus is going around. not be staying in the bay area after all. he's now in the process of reuniting with the seattle seahawks. norton was fired by the oakland raiders earlier this season. just last week, kyle shanahan added him to his staff as an assistant head coach. now several reports out of seattle is that he is leaving santa clara and will head back up north to become the seahawks defensive coordinator. shanahan says he respects norton's decision. as for the teams in the playoffs, we have our final four set.. the philadelphia eagles will host the minnesota vikings in the nfc championship game. the vikings winning a classic game yesterday.. they blew a 17

point lead, then stefon diggs makes a catch and takes it all the way for the touchdown. on the afc side of the ball... the jacksonville jaguars beat big ben and the pittsburgh steelers in a high scoring affair, 45 to 42.. their grand prize? head to foxborough and take on the new england patriots. jacksonville has been the top ranked defense this season and face a tough test in tom brady.

now one guy who did beat that jaguars defense pretty easily is jimmy garoppolo. and the new england patriots are contintuing to pay him for their playoff performance. garoppolo received 51-thousand dollars for the patriots win over the titans. and that's because he was on the team's active roster for at least 8 games and is now on an nfc team. if new england beats the jaguars, garoppolo gets 56-thousand more. and if they win the title, he gets another 56 grand.

the ball brothers, liangelo and lamelo were held scoreless in their lithuanian pro debuts.. but they played much, much better today. proud father lavar ball in attendence. lamelo led all scores with 31 points. liangelo added 29 as they led their team to a 130 to 93 victory. this was the second game of the big baller challenge contests. their team plays again on wednesday. lifestyles... cherries are a great source of antioxidant. a dispute over the fruit at a market in australia ended with a trip to the hospital. the store owner says two men were upset about the fruit... they then attacked an employee. one man loosing control... and also his shirt. customers struggled to break up the fruit fight. the owner says the employee was taken to the hospital with head injuries. the two men were arrested and charged... but the whole incident left witnesses with a sour taste. (steve) george clooney is returning to small screen near you. he'll star on hulu's upcoming limited series "catch 22" based on joseph heller's novel. the series will consist of six episodes.
