gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and driving under the influence causing injury.she has accepted a plea deal and is not expected to serve the full seven years. kron4's terisa estacio says dunn's family is outraged with the sentence."i was able to speak in front of the judge," elijah's father eric dunn said. "i asked for the maximum. she killed my son."in court, five family members gave victim statements to the judge, pleading for a longer sentence."unfair, unjust," elijah's grandfather chuck manoiki said. "justice was not served. she was given 7 years for gross vehicular manslaughter, she should have been given second-degree manslaughter. she will only serve about 50 percent of the sentence."

(vicki) a warning about a scam in daly city targeting renters. a woman says she was looking for an apartment online... when she was tricked into wiring more than one- thousand dollars last week. she says the suspect posed as a property manager on craigslist... and went by the name of nathaniel turker. the man requested a security deposit... and the woman wired him one thousand-750 dollars. after she wired the money, the woman called the apartment complex and was told that the unit she was going to rent was occupied... and that a nathaniel turker did not work there. police are now investigating and looking for other possible victims.

(vicki) and police in contra costa county are also warning of a scam tonight. they say several residents received phone calls from a person who said they worked for the sheriff's office. the caller then tells the victims that there are warrants for their arrest because they missed jury duty. the scammer then asks them to pay 4-thousand dollars to clear the warrants... and they will accept the payments in the form of a prepaid debit card or gift card. the sheriff's department says they never require people pay fines through prepaid cards... and people are not contacted by phone. (grant) sebastopol police are investigating a burglary at a marijuana dispensary. it happened around 3 am wednesday at the 'peace in medicine' dispensary on sebastopol avenue near main street. authorities say the building was partially ransacked. they do not know how much inventory was taken... but say about 30- thousand dollars worth of marijuana products were found nearby. (grant) emeryville police arrested cameron gordon of oakland earlier this week...

after they say they found a loaded gun in his car during a traffic stop. it happened at 11:45 wednesday night on 53-rd street and san pablo avenue. authorities say while talking with gordon, officers noticed the smell of marijuana coming from the car. police say officers also noticed a cup in the center console filled with marijuana. during the investigation, officers found a loaded revolver as well as more marijuana. gordon was arrested on several charges including carrying a loaded gun in a vehicle. (vicki) a preliminary investigative report on the october 1st mass shooting in las vegasstill doesn't reveal a definite motive...(grant) but it does include new information, including how gunman stephen paddock planned the attack.. catherine heenan is here with more.. (catherine) the clark county sheriff says stephen paddock had done research into swat tactics... investigators say they also found child porn on his computer... we're

also learning that the number of people injured in connection to the shooting is much higher than thought. the overall injury number -- 851. that includes 422 people hit by gunfire....aside from the hundredshurt in the escaping crush of people. last october the number of injured was listed at about 550. paddock killed himself after killing 58 people. the sheriff says no criminal charges are being considered against his girlfriend. but there 'is' another person under federal investigation - although no details are being released yet. a big question remains motive -- and the sheriff says there's no final answer yet. sheriff joe lombardo: i put out in the public space that he had lost a significant amount of his monetary wealth in close proximity to one october and that may have a driving factor associated with it. reporter: so - status, losing money. you think that is a potential motive in this case?sheriff joe lombardo: it could be. it could be. like i said the behavioral analysis unit of the fbi who are the experts associated with the mindset of individuals of this type are still in the throes

(estacio reporting)eric dunn, elijah's father. i spoke to the judge, i asked for the maximum. she killed my son. chuck manoiki, elijah's grandfather. this was not justice.christina estrada, elijah's grandmother. one by one - the family of elijah dunn, distraught over the death of the three year old spoke about their heartache. it has been an angonzing time for the east

bay family. elijah dunn died in this accident back on september 9, 2016. it was a friday evening, he was in a car with his siblings - his mother was driving when she ran out of gas and pulled to the side of freeway on 680. that is when yarenit malihan. the wife of an alameda county sheriff's deputy plowed into the sedan. elijah was killed. his mother crystal crushed in the front seat, she suffered multiple broken ribs. the two other children taken to the hospital. malihan had a prior dui before the crash on 680, but was not convicted. she also had a drunk in public, several months after the 680 accident. but the district attorney charged her with gross vehicular manslaughter and dui. she plead to the charges friday. however, the family tells kron four news they did not realize her plea would give her such a light sentence for killing their beloved family member.i caught up with malihan's family outside court, they would not talk - in court, she gave a statement apologizing, and saying she would do antyhing to turn back time. but elijah's family did not believe it.eric dunn. she is not remorseful.(estacio, live) so malihan was given a 7 year sentence. the law states she will serve about half of that, then with

days before he died in october at age 66. (catherine) in national news... a preliminary investigative report on the october 1st mass shooting in las vegas still doesn't reveal a definite motive... but it does include new information, including how gunman stephen paddock planned the attack..

the clark county sheriff says that the number of people injured by stephen paddock is much higher than thought. the overall injury number -- 851. that includes 422 people hit by gunfire....aside from the hundreds hurt in the escaping crush of people. last october the number of injured was listed at about 550. paddock killed himself after killing 58 people. the sheriff says no criminal charges are being considered against his girlfriend. but there 'is' another person under federal investigation - although no details are being released yet. we're also learning more about some of the disturbing things found on paddock's computer. police have

released photos from the shooting scene - not seen by the public before today...they include the view from one of paddock's rooms at the mandalay bay... also - some of the many guns found scattered throughout the suite. photos also show some of the surveillance cameras paddock had rigged....so he couldmonitor the hallway outside his room. the sheriff today also affirmed the belief that there was only one shooter that day...and says investigators have gone over nearly 2- thousand leads.
