(robin) a big story we're following this morning... san francisco has a new interim mayor. supervisor mark farrell was sworn in last night. he was voted in yesterday... after a racially charged debate. people started shouting "shame on you, racist board" during yesterday's board meeting. and the meeting was shutdown for 10 minutes. after the sudden death of mayor ed lee in december... supervisor london breed took over as acting mayor. she was nominated to stay on as interim mayor... but was voted down in part because she's running for the office in june. after being sworn in... farrell talked about his goals for the city. the most important thing for me is the continuity of the city of san francisco and the county. resident waking up tomorrow morning expect the muni busses to run on time, the expect police officer ot be walking the beat, they expect to see public works cleaning our streets and all vital services that the public expects us to deliver as a city and we will do that. it

also means tackling our cities most pressing issues; getting out homeless onto streets and into shelter and housing. making sure our streets are safe and clean for san francisco resident. (robin) happening now... san francisco police are searching for a gunman who shot two people... killing one of them. it happened in the bernal heights neighborhood just after 5 last night. both victims were taken to the hospital. one later died. we do not know the condition of victim. after six- children were killed in the last six - months all in car accidents.. and in each crash, the driver of another vehicle has been charged with murder. kron four's terisa estacio shows us the cases, the concern prosecutors have, and what's being done. two brothers, two cousins, and two sisters all children, and unique and special in their own ways, but sadly - share a common cause of death all 6, victims of vehicle accidents in the last 6 months, where the driver of another car now charged with their murder, and that is sounding alarms for bay area prosecutors. derek butts, contra costa deputy district atty. "it seems to me to be a real large number of these cases, which is of grave concern." contra costa deputy district atty derek butts is handling the prosecution of the most recent case - noe saucedo. sacedo of pittsburg, now charged with 2 counts of murder, and

posession of a controlled substance, and evading a peace officer in last weeks horrendous crash in antioch. the two young girls, lenexy and camilia both died due to injuries suffered in the crash. back in november, this devastating crash - where four family members died, including two teen boys, joe and baden. the group was coming back from a basketball game, when this man, fred lowe allegedly plowed into their car. the boys' fathers also killed. lowe, had a several prior dui convictions and was driving on a suspended license he is in custody, and his case is moving through the court system. and then this case, back in june - where this man lemuel wilson now faces multiple murder charges for killing brothers vincent and lorenzo in concord. authorities alledge wilson was driving under the influence when he slammed into the family car in concord, and took off. he later was arrested and is in custody, for murder and hit and run.

all of these happened in contra costa county - and now this warning coming from prosecutors dealing with these grime cases. butt.s what the people of contra costa county should know, if you drive drunk or drive in an extremely flagrantly reckless manner, and you end up killing somebody, that our office is going to take a very close look with charging you with murder and lastly butts. and you could spend the rest of your life in prison if you are convicted. in contra costa county, te kron four news. (robin) police in the east bay are looking for a gunman after three people were shot. it happened on market avenue in north richmond on monday night. police say an argument may have lead to the shooting. the three people shot are recovering in the hospital. police do not have a description of the gunman. they are asking anyone with information to please come forward. (robin) in the east bay... police have arrested two young men...who they say have been breaking into homes in emeryville. police responded to a residential complex on adeline street near the home depot monday night.

the property manager says he saw the suspects on a surveillance camera and called 911. police say when they showed up, the two guys took off. eventually, 19-year-old david chavez and 28-year-old samuel morales were arrested...both live in emeryville...and police say the two burglarized the same complex last weekend. (robin) the foggy weather has created problems on bay area highways. 10- cars were involved in two separate crashes... on state highway-37 in sonoma county. in the first crash... three cars collided just west of lakeville highway. then ... seven other cars and a big rig crashed in the same area. four people were taken to the hospital with minor to moderate injuries. police say ... visibility in the fog was about 50 -to 100- feet at the time of the crashes. (robin) a man seriously hurt after being found on fire in a san francisco alley. now investigators are trying to figure out how it all happened. it happened near the 24th street bart

station in the mission district. kron 4's haaziq maduyn talked to witnesses. a woman heading to work makes a grim discovery...a man engulfed in flames...sotit happened tuesday morning here in an alley at osage and 24th street in san francisco, a few steps away from the 24th street bart station. witnesses say a man was spotted sleeping in the alley and shortly after he was seen covered in flames. when the female good samaratin saw that she sprung into action. san francisco police lt. rachel murphy picks it up from theresotan act that prevented the victim from burning to deathsot this mission district resident agrees...sot

community would have did it"> sfpd crime scene investigators say the cause of the fire is somewhat of a mysterysotthe victim was taken to a local hospital with life threatening injuries. san francisco police nvestigators are following up with several witnesses and checking surveillance cameras in the area, looking for any clues to how the fire started...in san francisco haaziq madyun kron4news (robin) toys -r-us has announced which stores will be closing as part of its reorganization plans. the company declared bankruptcy last year and now we know that 9 bay are stores are on the list of closures. here is the list of the stores in the bay area. they include the stores in pinole... pittsburg... san rafael... brentwood... fairfield... emeryville... east san jose... san jose and union city. this is part of a plan to close 182 stores. the company says that some of

these stores could be saved if they are able to renegotiate some lease terms. the going-out-of-business sales are expected to begin sometime next month. (robin) the humane society of the north bay is currently taking care of a dog that was found tied up to a fence .... at the sunrise memorial cemetery in vallejo. those taking care of him say this is not uncommon .... but as kron 4's camila bernal explains ... the recovery

aaron persky's - petition to the ballot this fall. persky sentenced former stanford swimmer brock turner to six months in jail for sexually assaulting an intoxicated woman. organizers angry with the light sentence collected more than 90-thousand signatures to recall the judge. persky's current term ends in 20-22. if successful ... it will be the third time in state history that a sitting judge has been recalled. (robin) it turns out millenials may not be spending all their money on avocado toast and six dollar lattes. according to a new bank of america survey ... 27-to 37-year olds are putting money in the bank like never before, catherine heenan has the numbers ... and they're not what you'd expect. here's the most surprising stat: 16 percent of millenials have managed to save at least

as one legal battle heads toward an end, another is just getting started.disgraced doctor larry nassar is expected to be sentenced wednesday.and now, an investigation into his former employer, michigan state, is underway.john lorinc reports. larry nassar will never again be a free man.that's the vow from the judge who is set to sentence the former u-s-a gymnastics doctor who's pleaded guilty to seven counts of criminal sexual conduct. whitney burns/nassar accuser"i was robbed of my ability to dream for my future. i had to break things down much smaller in order to survive as this man's hands were touching places that i'd never let anyone touch."nassar has admitted to sexually assaulting many young females

it has been revealed that comey was interviewed last year as part of mueller's probe into possible russian meddling in the presidential election ... the new york times reports comey was asked about memos he wrote about his interactions with trump. investigators recently interviewed attorney general jeff sessions as part of the probe as well. this was sessions' first interview as part of the investigation... and the attorney general was not under subpoena. president trump says ... he is not worried about sessions speaking to investigators. (robin) the white house says ... it is cooperating with the mueller probe ... but does not know if sessions and trump discussed the interview when sessions was at the white house monday. (robin) donations are pouring in for the 13 siblings who were held captive in southern california. more than 120-thosuand dollars has been

been donated so far. the siblings were kept chained to beds for months by their parents... authorities say people from across the world have been donating money, toys, blankets, and clothing. and several people are offering to foster or adopt the children who range in ages from two to 29. the parents -- david and louise turpin were arrested after sheriff's deputies found the malnourished children inside their home in riverside county. they have pleaded not guilty to torture and other charges. ( james ) a homeless man is seriously hurt after being found on fire in a san francisco alley. now investigators are trying to figure out how it all happened. the man was found tuesday morning... just a few steps away from the 24th street bart station. witnesses say the man was sleeping in the alley. a short time later... they say he was on fire. police say a good samaritan saved the man's life by grabbing a bucket of water from a nearby cafe and dumping it on the man. police are now checking surveillance cameras in the area... looking to see how the fire started. police resonded to a fight outside the safeway on mendocino avenue. it happened around 11-thirty last night... an officer attempted to separate the two men.. one of the men, 27-year-old timothy ruhs, tried to run away. the officer chased ruhs and tackled him to the ground. the man then punched the officer multiple times... breaking his nose. ruhs was eventually arrested... and the officer was taken to the hospital for his injuries. ( darya ) happening now... police are looking for the driver who hit and injured two people in walnut creek. it happened last night near the intersection of north main street and. second avenue. there is no word on the victims conditions this morning and police have not released a description of the driver they are looking for. ( darya ) a bill being introduced into the legislature by state senator scott wiener... may help curb car break-ins in san francisco. "senate bill 9-1-6" would allow prosecutors to prove that a suspect broke into a car... áif the window is broken. right now... a

posession of a controlled substance, and evading a peace officer in last weeks horrendous crash in antioch. the two young girls, lenexy and camilia both died due to injuries suffered in the crash. back in november, this devastating crash - where four family members died, including two teen boys, joe and baden. the group was coming back from a basketball game, when this man, fred lowe allegedly plowed into their car. the boys' fathers also killed. lowe, had a several prior dui convictions and was driving on a suspended license he is in custody, and his case is moving through the court system. and then this case, back in june - where this man lemuel wilson now faces multiple murder charges for killing brothers vincent and lorenzo in concord. authorities alledge wilson was driving under the influence when he slammed into the family car in concord, and took off. he later was arrested and is in custody, for murder and hit and run.

investigators are trying to figure out why two students were killed at a kentucky school by a classmate. 17 more students were hurt. we first brought you this story yesterday morning as breaking news. investigators are combing through the crime scene. police say a student walked in... armed with a handgun... and started shooting. within minutes first responders arrived. the 15-year-old shooter was taken into custody and will be charged with murder and attempted murder. francisco police are searching for a gunman who shot two people... killing one of them. it happened in the bernal heights neighborhood just after 5 last night. both victims were taken to the hospital. one later died. we do not know the condition of the other victim. ( james ) a homeless man is seriously hurt after being found on fire in a san francisco alley. now investigators are trying to figure out how it all happened. the man was found tuesday morning... just a few steps away from the 24th street bart station. witnesses say the man was sleeping in the alley. a short time later... they say he was on fire. police say a good samaritan saved the man's life by grabbing a bucket of water from a nearby cafe and dumping it on the man. police are now checking surveillance cameras in the area... looking to see how the fire started. ( james ) voters in the south bay will decide whether an embattled judge keeps his job. the registrar of voters in santa clara county says enough signatures were collected to add judge aaron persky's recall petition to the ballot this fall. persky sentenced former stanford swimmer brock turner to six months in jail for sexually assaulting an intoxicated woman. organizers collected more than 90-thousand signatures to recall the judge. persky's current term ends in 20-22. ( james ) police in the east bay are looking for a gunman after three people were shot. it happened on market avenue in north richmond. police say an argument may have lead to the shooting. the three people shot are recovering in the hospital. police do not have a description of the gunman. edition of people behaving badly. while driving home i noticed this pile of debris located on the corner of fifth and king street, in san francisco while i was there i watched where is all this stuff coming from . big item pickup for tomorrow morning .more stuff being added to the pile .. a pile which covered the entire sidewalk and spilled into the street i also noticed a do not leave bulky items here sign hanging from a tree by a piece of string . this was all outside of the arterra condominium complex the pile had everything in it including the bathroom sink fast forward to the next day i return only to find the pile still therethese always some kind of trash there from the apartments and all that it always a mess so start making phone calls .while i was waiting i noticed more items being added to the pile at one point workers from the department of public works were passing by so i flagged them down .. they started documenting the site it turns out the someone in the complex on january 4th scheduled a

bulk item pickup for the morning i returned .and according to dpw they did everything absolutely correct which was contact recology, recology gave them the ok to put items outside.what was not done right was the resident the way that they put the items out they didn't put them out as they should have i put in a call to recology and they confirmed the bulk pick up it was for 9 miscellaneous boxes and 1 end table. .the max for bulky there must be a sign attached with the letter bir which means bulky item recycle and the most important part it must not block the sidewalk apparently the complex ordered the pickup and let everyone in the building know know so everything was dumped . one free bulky pickup is permitted per year if you fail to follow the rules you could be fined for illegally dumping or as my followers in the united kingdom called it fly tipping i placed a link on kron 4.com
