pierce streets. that's near the painted ladies and alamo square. police say one of the suspects tried to get away in a car... and hit an officer in the process. (vicki) kron 4's terisa estacio is live in san francisco tonight... with details on how this all unfolded. terisa? .. this is the tale of two stories how they ended up collding, leading to the arrest of two suspects, and four very grateful tourists. (estacio) erin te. this is our first day here - and what a day it turned out to be for this group who just arrived in san francisco thursday morning from orlando. the group had parked this black toyota near alamo square to go take some pictures - when erin's husband, forrest using his binnoculars, realized their car was being broken in to and, then realized, a police officer on a bike was trying to stop the suspect.forrest lin. i was scared. forrest says he was scared, because he then saw another suspect try and run over the officer and the suspect. forrest shared

these pictures with kron four news this is the officer injured when the car ran him over and this is emerency crews treating both the officer and the suspect. the driver of the car - took off, but then crashed close by here at hayes and buchannan. a woman in a prius was struck, residents say they saw it unfold in front of them. tyler brown, witness. two people got out to escape apprehension, i believe. san francisco police say the undercover plainclothes officer hit by one of the suspects was part of an ongoing operation to help crack down on the escalation of auto thefts in the city. san francisco police say they will look into whether the group is involved in past crimes. robert rueca, sfpd. we do not know their criminal history, we are looking into that. erin. we thought we were being very careful. erin her husband and two friends tell me the suspects stole two pieces of luggage, but the officer was able to save their backpacks. and for that, they have a message to the injured officer. erin. i think we are very grateful to this officer

for acting so quickly for us and for the city, and we are very grateful. : (grant) happening now... police are looking for a suspect who allegedly used a stolen suv to ram an alameda county sheriff's deputy.(vicki) that officer then fired several rounds at the suspect. this all happened just after 9:30 this morning in hayward at arbor avenue near west a street... right off of interstate-880. (grant) that suv was found abandoned a few blocks away west of 880 on royal avenue. kron4's

maureen kelly explains how it all went down here you can see the deputy's motorcycle on the ground. the alameda county sheriff say the officer tried to pull the suspect over for speeding, when for some unknown reason, the situation turned violent. the officer was still on his motorcycle when the suspect put the suv into reverse, rammed into the officer as he was still on his bike dragging and pushing him backwards on the motorcycle for about 15 to 20 feet. the officer was able to get off of the bike, the suspect car disengaged from the motorcycle and continued backwards, the suspect then put the car into drive, drove at the officer again we believe to run him overand to kill him. the officer pulled out his weapon fired into the vehicle. . a man who lives on the street says he heard the shots. pretty close to home, kind of scarythat suspect took off....and abandoned the suv here just a few blocks away in the driveway of an apartment complex. as it was towed away you can see five bullet holes in the windshield.knocking deputies went house to house looking for the suspect in the neighborhood....as some residents were told to shelter

in place.this family says their son at the nearby east bay art school was one of two schools in the area put on lockdown.it was scary i sent a message to my son are you ok, he said i'm ok and up to one or two hours kids are now regular going to lunchthe perimeter and the lockdowns were lifted just before 1pm....deputies are working to pull surveillance images of teh suspect so they can identify, locate and arrest him. it's unknown at this time if he was stuck by any of the bullets but there was no sign of significant gunshot injurymiraculously teh deputy was able to walk away from the incident with only minor injuries. he'll be put on adminstrative leave which is standard procedure in an officer involved shooting. maureen kelly kron4 news (grant) a man's been arrested for

impersonating a milipitas opolice fficer and sexually assaulting a woman. the incident was january 16th at the baymont inn in milpitas. police say the suspect -- stanley friesen -- met with a woman he had been chatting with online. friesen allegedly identified himself as a police officer... and told the woman he wanted to have sex with her. police arrested friesen in tracy. (grant) palo alto police have arrested a man who they say committed several violent crimes within just a few hours. it started around seven pm monday at the macy's at stanford shopping center. police say javas minor groped a female employee. when the loss prevention officer told minor to leave... he reportedly punched the employee in the jaw... and took off. police say a short time later, officers received a call about a robbery at the p-f chang's in the same shopping center. authorities say minor went into the kitchen claiming to

have a gun. according to employees... minor was taking food from the kitchen. police say he threatened to kill several employees before leaving. authorites tracked down minor at the transit center on university avenue. police say as officers were putting minor in a patrol car... he tried to kick an officer. paramedics were called when minor said he could not feel his hands. police say minor spat in the face of a paramedic. he was then taken to the hospital where he tried to bite a nurse. authorities say minor then head-butted that nurse. minor was arrested on a string of charges includingv robbery and criminal threats. (vicki) in the south bay... a high school soccer coach is arrested and charged with molesting a child. and we've found out he worked in átwo bay area school districts. kron 4's will tran reports from san jose. marciel gonzalez recently coached soccer here at oak grove high school.when administrators learned that he was arrested on wednesday night... they quickly moved to

fire him.by thursday morning.. when parents were dropping off their kids... they were horrified.angel rodriguez/parent-that's the hard part especially when it comes to high school because they want their freedom and this is an area where we definitely need to trust the people around them, so to have a soccer coach which is an activity the children want to be in, that that's really scary the east side union high school district says the alleged sexual assault victim is not one of their students. morgan hill police arrested gonzalez after receiving a tip from a minor and that child's parents about the alleged sexual assault which they say occurred within the past two years at a private residence in morgan hill.anthony wortham/parent-you wouldn't think someone that old would go after a high school girl or anything like that. if my child told me that, i would be mad and i would try to switch them out of school. as a parent you try to protect your kids as much as possible gonzalez coached soccer at many places including south valley junior high in gilroy and live oak high school in morgan hill from october 2015 to february 2016(will tran-because gonzalez has had access to so many kids as a soccer coach through the

years... authorities believe there could be more victims.in san jose will tran kron 4 news (grant) two students were two (grant) two students were shot and wounded inside a los angeles middle school today...(vicki) police have taken a young student into custody... catherine heenan is here with the story... (catherine) video shows officers leading away a dark-haired girl in handcuffs...and police say preliminary information indicates she's only 12 years old... the shooting happened at salvador castro middle school around 9-am in the westlake neighborhood of l-a. a 15 year old boy was shot in the head. he's in critical but stable condition and said to be doing well tonight.. a 15-year-old girl

was shot in the wrist. students were cleared by officers one by one before they were allowed to leave the classroom buildings.. aside from the two students who were shot -- three other people were injured in the resulting chaos. capt. erik scott - we had a 30-year-old female, a 11- year-old make and a 12-year-old female with abrasions predominantly to the head and face area. only two of the five patients were injured as a result of a weapon." some of the abrasions were later found to be slight grazing from gunfire. video from the scene includes someone being taken away in an ambulance....also...students gathered on a campus baseball field. both shooting victims are expected to survive and police say they've found the gun that was used.they're trying to figure out a motive -- and say they want to know how the girl managed to get the gun. they say if it's determined it was from a home where it wasn't properly locked up -- therecould be

adults also facing prosecution. grant and vicki? (vicki) in the east bay... the alta bates medical center in berkeley will stay open for at least the next 10 years. sutter health made the announcement yesterday. there had been rumors that the facility could close as soon as next year. those rumors led to protests outside of the hospital. there are still plans to close the facility eventually. sutter health says the closure is to avoid the cost of upgrading the building to meet the state's earthquake standards. when it closes it will merge with the summit medical center in oakland. (grant) it was a rough morning for bart commuters in the east bay. (vicki) a derailment of a maintenance truck overnight ... delayed trains this morning. kron 4's lydia pantazes was there... as the lines of riders waiting to get on trains... got longer and longer. major delays on bart this morning. the delay was reported at 4:01 a.m. due to a derailed maintenance vehicle in the south hayward area.bart

pd says it was a maintenance truck that runs on the track with special train wheels. bart officials said the truck - which is still disabled on the northbound line on the fremont-warm springs route also damaged the third rail that powers the trains. bart rider says: this is a bummer because she wanted to get to school early.bart rider says: the delay will make him late so he will probably drive now bart rider says: there;s nothing you can do.i talked with passengers who were getting off bart at this location who said they were frustrated. that they had to wait a half hour. but now the trains are getting back to normal.meantime, while there was damage to the track, there were no one was hurt in the derailment.reporting in fremont, lydia pantazes kron 4 news. (vicki) now that store in iowa is temporarily shut down. marcus mcintosh has the story. this was old navy near jordan creek this afternoon.shoppers ended up stopping in their tracks... a sign in the window reads 'temporarily closed.'a move that could be traced to what happened to james conley the third tuesday.james conley iii/old navy customer:"i found two hoodies and i went to the cash register to check out when i was asked if i am going to purchase the jacket i had on."conley thought maybe it was a joke that he was asked about the jacket he says he was wore into the store before--a jacket he tells us he bought at old navy as a christmas gift for himself.it wasn't a joke.james conley iii/old navy customer:"the manager proceeded to say anytime anyone has old navy apparel on, they have to scan it."something he later learned may not have been true.james

neighborhood.(grant) a big story in san francisco.... an attempt to stop car break-ins in turns violent. an under cover cop was injured during a sting near alamo square. police say an auto burglary suspect... tried to flee in a car... and then struck that officer... and another suspect. it happened around 11:50 this morning near alamo square on hayes and pierce streets. the officer is expected to survive...the condtion of the injured suspect is unknown tonight. . (vicki) and in the east bay... a manhunt is underway in hayward for the suspect who rammed an alameda county sheriff's deputy with a stolen suv. it happened around 10 this morning...when a sheriff's deputy stopped the suv for speeding in the area of arbor avenue. the driver put the suv in reverse...pinning the deputy and his motorcycle to the back of the vehicle and dragging them. the deputy then fired multiple shots... before the suspect sped off.. the deputy expected to be okay. (vicki) in berkeley -- a man has been arrested for hitting

a child on a bart train. it happened aroudn 9:30 yesterday morning. police say raymond benson hit a five-year-old child who accidentally bumped into him. benson was arrested on suspicion of willful harm to a child and battery on a transit passenger. the child was taken to the hospital for evaluation and treatment. (grant) in the south bay... san jose police detained a man after receiving reports that he was chasing people... with a chainsaw. the chaotic scene played out on flintdale avenue near flint avenue today. authorities say when officers arrived, the man did not have a chainsaw. police say he cooperated with officers. the man was taken to the hospitcal and placed in a 72-hour psychiatric evaluation. (vicki) in the north bay. sonoma county... will file a lawsuit against pg and e...for damages the county sustained in the october wildfires. the suit... which will be filed by late february...claims pg and e is responsible for tens of millions of dollars in fire damage...and between nine million and 23 million-dollars

alone in debris removal expenses. county officials...say the suit is intended to make sure taxpayers do not pay the costs of the damage and cleanup expenses. (vicki) in marin county... the marine mammal center is urgently looking for volunteers to help with seal pupping season. elephant and harbor seals come to california's shores to give birth at this time of year. the center says some already need to be rescued. the center is looking for volunteers to care for the seals and their pups at their animal hospital. this is a six month commitment.. if you are interested in volunteering... the center is holding two open house events later this month. head to kron4-dot-com to find out more about this volunteering opportunity and the open houses. (vicki) ice agents could soon show up at courthouses to make deportation arrests. federal immigration officials say the move is to capture convicted criminals and gang members. (grant) joining us now to talk about the new guidelines... is san francisco district attorney george gascon. federal immigration authorities have formalized the practice of sending deportation agents to federal, state and local courthouses to make arrests, dismissing complaints from judges and advocacy that it instills fear among crime victims, witnesses and family members.wednesday's directive from u.s. immigration and customs enforcement said it will enter courthouses only to capture

specific targets, like convicted criminals, gang members, public safety threats and immigrants who have been previously deported or ordered to leave. family, friends and witnesses won't be picked up for deportation but ice leaves a caveat for "special circumstances."the policy, signed by ice acting director thomas homan, says immigration agents should generally avoid arrests in non-criminal areas of the court, like family court and small claims, unless it has supervisor approval. chemicals it considers ápossibleá causes of cancer. acrylamide-- created when coffee beans are roasted-- is considered one of them. a lawsuit filed in los angeles targets companies that make or sell coffee. according to the suit....the defendants failed to warn coffee drinkers that they may be exposed to the chemical.(grant) the suit seeks to impose fines and force the companies to post warnings. coffee companies say the acrylamide levels in coffee should be considered safe under state law. they also say the health benefits of coffee outweigh the risks. turning now to the warriors-- normally, there aren't many juicy headlines before the all star break in the nba season. but, we have an exciting story to talk about today.(grant) social media abuzz late last night...after an espn report surfaced saying lebron james

would be interested in meeting with the warriors this offseason. mark carpenter...joins us to break down this unlikely, but not entirely impossible scenario. what's going on mark? after what happened with kevin durant, we should know better by now that anything could happen. lebron james...is set to become a free agent this offseason and it's widely thought he'll be leaving cleveland. áif he does, he'll have several options in front of him, but until yesterday, áno one saw golden state as a possibility. and it seems, even kd doesn't think that is going to happen. "bullsáát, bullsáát. but you know, in this league, it's just like a couple years ago with me coming here. nobody would have thought that so, it's part of me as a basketball player, let's just worry about basketball. but on the other side, it's a business as well." but lebron james...joining the team that's defeated him in the

kelly explains how this all unfolded. five bulletholes can be seen in the windshield of the suv that the alameda county sheriff's office says was used to ram one of their motorcycle officers. they say the deputy tried to pull over the driver for speeding a little after 930 am. it turned out the suv was stolen...and here on arbor ave in hayward just off the 880 freeway the driver allegedly put the vehicle in reverse and hit the cop while still on the bike. the cop was dragged for 15-20 feet..once free of the motorcycle....the driver allegedly tried once again to run the deputy down.the suspect then put the car into drive, drove at the officer again we believe to run him overand to kill him. the officer pulled out his weapon fired into the vehicle. one man who lives nearby heard the commotion. i heard for what sounded like firecrackers loud ones. i got my clothes on and went outside looked on the block and i saw the motorcycle cop on the ground the bike not himthat's because, the deputy was able to walk away with only minor injuries. we're wondering why someone who is driving a stolen car would be so intense will be intent on

release. the winchester mystery house in san jose --- the inspiration for the film -- is hosting sold- out parties all weekend. guests will tour the mansion, view costumes from the film, and drink a toast to sarah winchester - the former owner of the house.. she is being portroyed by academy award winner helen mirren. guests will also be treated to a special screening of the film. analysts speculate, the movie should make between 6- and 8- million this weekend.
