(vicki) and i'm vicki liviakis. 3 suspects have been arrested in vallejo... but two are still on the loose. the two home invasions happened in sonoma county. the first on fulton road in santa rosa early this morning. and then about two hours later... there was a second home invasion on melcon lane. police then spotted the suspects in vallejo. kron 4's haaziq madyun picks up the story from there... a high speed police pursuit of five home invasion suspects in this minivan stops after a collision with another vehicle. at that point the five suspects, 4 men and a woman inside van got out and started running in different directionssot the wild scene took place on redwood road in outside of linda bracciotti's flower shop sotthis is a photo of one of the three home invasion suspects being arrested. a perimeter was set up and the search was on for the remaining two suspects, a man and a woman spotted running away from the vansot

suspects in this vehicle stormed into the home and shots were fired misty harris. when deputies arrived they found someone shot that person unfortunately died at the scene. misty harris with sonoma county sheriff's department says the scene at melcon was actually the second of two home invasions. the first case, around 4:20 at a home on the 1900 block of fulton road. both connected and both later tied to this van found by police in vallejo. 3 people were caught, swat teams memebers are still looking for two suspects. harris says drugs seem to tied the two cases. harris. was this a drug deal gone back? we don't know, but we do know that marijuana play a factor in both cases. harris adds that violence of this type - two home invasions where guns were reportedly used against residents is not common in the county. harris. this is very unusual this type of violence for sonoma county. management district says inspectors are on the scene. this morning... they received at least two complaints of flaring. it's not clear what lead to the flaring... or what chemicals may have been released into the air. chevron released a statement saying... "there has been some intermittent flaring at the richmond refinery this morning. we apologize for any concern this has caused our neighbors. there is no need to shelter in place. flares are a highly regulated safety device monitored by the air district used in the refineries. this is an isolated incident and the refinery continues to operate." (grant) in marin county... a man is arrested on suspicion of d-u-i after a crash that killed his passenger. the crash was last week in marshall. police say 23-year-old lucas mcfadden was driving on shoreline highway around 4:30 a-m. they say he crashed head-on into a truck that was towing an excavator. 18-year-old ricardo de santiago was a passenger... and died in the crash. mcfadden suffered major injuries. he is now facing vehicular manslaughter charges. there is now a

(vicki) a massive amount of water flooded the streets around south el camino real and norte dame & 9th avenue in san mateo this morning after a water main broke. kron4's maureen kelly reports that a catholic school had to cancel classes today and tomorrow because of the damage. water from the broken 24 inch transmission line flooded streets....requiring lanes of traffic on busy south el camino real to be blocked off....and created a lake in the courtyard of st matthew's catholic school. it happened before 7am....so only a few early drop off students had to be evacuated. looks kind of muddy it looks really muddy it's kind of depressing but i kind of like it because we don't have schoolthe classrooms were not affected, but school staff and parent volunteers could be seen cleaning up the gym and the church, which bore the brunt. it's mostly the floor the carpets the water got pretty deep especially in our gymnasium but we have multiple

restoration cruise and everybody is working side-by- side trying to quickly get the water out the mud out will begin the repairs as soon as we canclose to a half dozen homes on nearby avalon drive had water flooding into their basements and garages. the resident of this house didn't want to go on camera but says they've only been back in their house 9 months after a big remodel, and will need to move out again until this mess is cleaned up.and a man who lives just north of where the break happened says his son's car was flooded. here's a picture of what it looked like before they got the water out. it's pretty flooded it 8 inches of water in the inside had to drain it out and vacuum it outby mid afternoon the spokesman for california water service said they still did not know what caused the line to break. will know more as we get into the repair as we have the engineers take a look at it. age is not the only factor on main breaks it can be a pike condition pipe material soil conditions earth movement etc.no one lost service because of the break...and what is coming out of the taps was unaffected and drinkable. maureen kelly kron4 news (grant) now to the voliatle

markets for the second time this week, the dow saw its numbers significantly plunge. the dow lost nearly one-thousand-33 points today. that's the second thousand-point decline this week. and it officially means the dow is in correction mode...the average is down 10 percent from its record high just two weeks ago. experts blame the plunge on continued concerns over the bond market, inflation and interest rates. the nasdaq and s-and-p also saw steep losses, with each falling nearly four percent. (catherine) yes some surprising numbers in a new study of the silicon valley economy. in the past two years, the region from santa clara to daly city has lost 44=thousand people to other parts of the country. at the same time - it gained nearly 45- thousand new immigrants from foreign countries. the online real estate firm redfin says sacramento is the top choice for people leaving the south bay.... followed by los angeles, seattle, portland and san diego.and the migration is driving up real estate prices in those cities. at the same time silicon valley is attracting record numbers of foreigners.the joint venture economic study found two out of five residents of santa clara and san mateo counties were born in another country.a hiher percentage than san francisco, and far above the state and national averages.mexico, china, india and other asian countries supply two thirds of the immigrants.foreign=born workers now occupy two=thirds of the jobs in computers and mathematics.and for the first time. a majority of residents speak a language other than english at home.

people are forced from their home after a fire in the south bay... hear from a neighbor who rushed to help the victims in the middle of the night. reaction collision this morning berkeley involving an a-c transit bus .. and two other cars. kron 4's lydia pantazes was on the scene and explains how it all unfolded. we're told that the bus was actually traveling towards us on ashby avenue when a car was actually crossing california. that bus crashed into the drive side of that sedan.so the impact of the collision forced the two cars into a parked car and then into the front of an occupied residence, er a occupied house here on the 1500 block.this accident happened just shortly after 6:30 this morning .i felt a loud 'boom,' deaf i can feel vibrations i thought it was an earthquake but it wasn't. i got up and just went to walk around the house and see what it was, saw lights, read ac transit bus ... 20 feet from outside of my house. yeah it was pretty scary. um well i was sleeping and you know just there dreaming and stuff and uh it was a huge ... crash and i like kinda just

(vicki) a big story we're tracking. four people are without a home tonight...after a fire broke out a single - story duplex in los gatos. it happened around nine last night on dardaneli lane. when firefighters arrived to the scene... they found flames coming from inside one unit of the duplex. the flames were put within an hour...however three occupants are suffering from fire related injuries. two of the injuries were considered moderate...and one minor. kron four spoke with a brave neighbor...who rushed in to help firefighters. here are some of the stories we are following in your neighborhood... (grant) a crime alert in the east bay... police are looking for five suspects...in connection with a home invasion in fremont. it was last night... on little foot place. seven victims..including two juveniles were inside the home during the time of the robbery. police say the armed suspects made off with over eight grand in cash and jewelry. police say the suspects pistol-whipped and physically dragged some victims. .. (grant) berkeley police have cleared a homeless encampment at old city hall. this comes after several complaints from the community... and a fire at the encampment on tuesday. officers went there early this morning to give people notice that they had to leave in a few hours. the encampment

was a growing concern due to it's close proximity to berkeley high school. (vicki) in the south bay. police are investigating bullet holes ...spotted in windows at a bank in mountain view. it happened around three yesterday afternoon at the wells fargo bank branch on grand road. police shut down the intersection of grand road and el camino real...for at least an hour during the investigation. no one was injured...and police say the bullet holes were not part of a robbery. (grant) and in the north bay. two temporary stop signs will be installed this month on muir woods road. it's an effort to keep drivers safe because the road has eroded... and narrowed on of the lanes. the signs will be placed at a 150-foot section of alternating one-way, single-lane roadway near santos meadow. the temporary stop signs will be in place until a five point nine million dollar rehabilitation of muir woods road begins in 20-20. man. zachery rose was last seen on saturday. he was spending the weekend in fairfield with a friend. police say he walked away from his friends home on shorey way... but left his personal belongings behind and has not been seen since. is scrambling to avoid a second government shutdown for 2018. senate leaders from both parties say they think a shutdown is avoidable. house speaker paul ryan called on members to embrace the senate deal.. in order to avoid a government shutdown. right now... senator rand paul is holding up a vote on the budget because he says more debate is needed. paul says he is prepared to keep the senate in session all night to protest the bipartisan budget deal.... that increases the federal deficit by hundreds of billions of dollars. lawmakers are facing a midnight deadline... which is 9-pm our time. going right up to 2017..."1991 presentation high graduate catherine leehane says that since she and a classmate went public with their stories, 18 other former students have also come forward, implicating at least 8 teachers and staff members."...i was not surprised by the additional victims by my abuser, but to find out that there are additional abusers and violations of the law has been shocking and horrifying..." last fall, leehane went public with her story about how she was sexually abused by a teacher, who is now deceased, and how the administration failed to fully investigate. catherine lehane"...the teacher had me in his office and he put his arm around me and and was intimate with me and kissed my hand and later showed me a picture of a naked woman....."some 5,000 former students and supporters have signed an on line petition calling for anindependent investigation. leehane believes the abuse continues even now and shared a post from another former student. catherine leehane "....i listened to the victims stories and didn't have to hear the teachers name to know who they were talking about,

one person is dead after a collision between an a-c transit bus and a car this morning in berkeley. it happened around 6:30 this morning. authorities say the car was on california street when it was hit by the bus near ashby avenue. the force of the collision sent both the car and the bus into a nearby home. the driver of the car was killed and one person on the bus was injured. no one inside the home was harmed. the cause of the crash is under investigation. (catherine) in the south bay... three people are without a home tonight after their duplex went up in flames last night. it happened around nine p-m on dardanelli lane near winchester boulevard. all three residents were taken to the hopital with injuries. it's believed the fire might have started in a makeshift bedroom in the dining area.. the cause is

(catherine) some people in berkeley woke up this morning - to find police and city officials dismantling their homeless encampment. the encampment was set up in front of the old city hall about three months ago. authorities say the decision to take it down was the result of public health and safety concerns. tuesday, for example - a fire broke out at the encampment. people on the site were given a notice to vacate yesterday morning... around five a-m today... about 25 of them were asked to leave.the city decided that with the amount of complaints and the fire on tuesday, it was time for the encampment to be moved. the fire damaged the exterior of the old city hall building. many of the people who had to leave say they're not sure yet where they'll go next. the woman who was driving and live streaming when a car crash killed her little sister sister and friend has been sentenced to six years in prison. obdulia sanchez has been convicted of gross vehicular manslaughter, d-u-i and child endangerment. sanchez was driving around 100 mile per hours in los banos when she lost control of her car. the car overturned... ejecting and killing her 14- year-old sister. video shows sanchez taking her hands off the wheel while driving. the recording also shows sanchez leaning over her lifeless sister after the crash. per minute before they were able to cap the watermain around 830.woke up this morning to all kinds of stuff going on, amazing. rivers of mud flowing down the street. my sons car was flooded out pretty bad. waiting for the insurance adjuster to show up someone to tell us what to do it also created a lake in the courtyard of st. matthew's catholic school. only a few early drop off students were evacuated from campus. but classes are cancelled today and tomorrow...there's a lot of water water, lots of water inside the classroom. oh no there's nothing in the classroom but the gym in the church are all flooded...here you can see the cleanup going on in both the church and the gym. ...the damage there was so significant it will be out of commission for the next two months. it's unfortunate but we're grateful that everyone safe no one was hurt and will put all our efforts getting it back up to runningafter the water receded crews were busy hosing down and digging out the mud covering the campus and norte dame avenue. close to a half dozen homes on nearby avalon blvd had water flooding into their basements and garages. the resident of this house didn't want to go on camera but says they've only been back in their house 9 months after a big remodel, and will need to move out again until this mess is cleaned up.by mid afternoon the spokesman for california water service said they still

a warning for anyone headed to las vegas...(catherine) police are on the hunt for a man the say shot four people within a week. they've released this surveillance video of the suspect. las vegas police say the shootings happened last week... one man was shot and killed while sleeping. on the same day... another man was shot in the face and killed. four days later... a homeless man was shot and killed while sleeping under an overpass. the condition of the fourth victim is unknown. police are now stepping up patrols in the area.."someone's going around killing homeless people, why, cause you dont like us?" homeless shelters say more beds will be added....and police are encouraging people to use them. but some in the homeless community insist they'll look out for each other.
