authorities say the students ingested an unknown substance that made them sick.. (grant) kron 4's dan kerman is live in san francisco tonight... dan, first off, how are the kids doing tonight? 7 san francisco ambulances and the fire department's mass casualty bus descended on james lick middle school in noe valley tuesday afternoon after students began getting sick after ingesting an unknown substance sot lt. jonathan baxter/san francisco fire dept. 12-23 we're not sure what the substance is that the student ingested. the students named off a couple of items that they thought it was, however we are working with the hospital and poison control to determine the exact substance at which time we can divulge what that actually was it all began with one student who went to the schools office at 120 in the afternoon reporting they were ill after ingesting something. over hour one ill student expanded 10 students who were ill. fire officials say 7 had minor

symptoms, 3 others more significant symptoms.sot2 we have classified as moderate or yellow which means they are showing more severe signs which could include naseua and vomiting altered level of consciousness and they are being transported to a hospital and we have one student that was showing extreme adverse effects and we categorized him as red which is critical but not life threatening5 students taken to the hospital for treatment initially though eventually all 10 were to be transported. in the meantime the school district has notified parents of every child in the school just in case they too become ill.sot gentle blythe/ sf school district spokesperson 129-129if they see any symptoms or have any concerns and they should seek medical help immediately and all students in the school have been notified they will not be in trouble if they come forward having ingested something, we just want to make sure all students are safe and have the care that they need.

the victim graduated from san jose's silver creek high school in 2016, the east side union high school district released a statement saying in part: "we are in shock and disbelief regarding this tragic event. our thoughts and prayers go out to her family, friends, and loved ones." they're also making counselors available to students. (grant) tonight--- we are hearing from the driver who found the stabbing victim on the side of the road yesterday. richard load-holt says the woman was fighting for her life when he found her... soaked in blood and dragging herself. "it reall did look like something out of a horror movie... that someone would be inhumane to do that to another human being. she looked very... words to describe... other than marred beyond recognition. she looked like she knew she had to fight. and i commend her for that and she was courageous. she fought, and she fought a good fight."

(catherine) an east bay family has filed a civil claim against bart -- paving the way for a wrongful death lawsuit. 28-year-old shaleem tindle was shot and killed by a bart police officer last month. a shooting his family claims was unjustified. kron four's philippe djegal reports from oakland... where the family and other community members are demanding action... (philippe)nats- marching through the west oakland bart station... just feet from where 28- year-old shaleem tindle was gunned down january 3rd... tindle's family says time has not softened the loss of one of their own. his father yashiki -- devastated.yashiki tindle/father- "these cops is getting away with murder." on the deadly day in question... bart says one of it's officers responded to reports of gunfire and a fight happening across from the bart

station. tindle's family says shaleem was wrestling with another man and had actually shot the other man in the leg before the officer got there. but that tindle had already been disarmed by the time the officer showed up. attorney john burris represents the tindle family, and says he's seen th e officer's body camera video, that captured the shooting and the moments leading up to it. john burris/attorney- "the officer comes up and says show me your hands, show me your hands. and, within moments, he starts shooting and he shoots shaleem in the back. bang, bang, bang. he could not have seen a weapon of any kind. he could not have seen shaleem's hands. this is a photograph of a gun investigators found on the ground at the scene. the officer who opened fire has been named in the civil claim... joseph mateu (muh- too) the third. mateu is on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation... which is being carried out by the oakland police department. shaleem's brother wants mateu

charged with murder.laron mayfield/shaleem's brother- "we gotta standup and make these cowards pay for what the hell they did. justice for shaleem. justice for shaleem." bart says once the investigation into the shooting is complete, it is committed to releasing the body-camera footage. in oakland, philippe djegal, kron four news. (grant) an undocumented immigrant is facing federal charges... after he was acquitted in the death of kate steinle last year in san francisco. jose ines garcia-zarate pleaded not guilty to two federal gun charges today in court. the charges came five days after his acquittal by a jury in the kate steinle case. in 2015-- steinle was walking on pier 14 with her father... when she was shot and killed. garcia- zarate's attorney claimed the shooting was accidental... and that steinle was hit by a ricocheting bullet. his subsequent acquittal prompted a firestorm of criticism from president trump toward

sanctuary cities... because zarate... an undocumented immigrant... had been deported five times before the shooting. (grant) and immigrant rights groups are organizing a new newtwork of neighborhood watch teams in california...in response to threats by the trump administration of an immigration crackdown. religious groups and migrant rights activits are training hundreds of volunteers to be part of a rapid response network. observers on the teams document the arrests of immigrants... find them legal counsel... and support them and their familes as they navigate the court system. here in the bay area...fears of massive detentions have increased...amid reports that immigration agents are planning to arrest as many as 15 hundred people... who are in the country illegally. (grant) in the north bay... a school district has launched an investigation after several teachers have come forward saying male students are sexually harassing them. obscene e-mails and text messages during class. we want to warn you - some of the allegations are disturbing. (estacio reporting) listen to what this teacher says is happening to her in her classrooms at tamalpais high in marin county. "i have been touched more than once, i have had obscene phone calls, on my work and personal emails, some using the school ip address." the math and english teacher recently spoke at a school board meeting - and she adds she is not alone - here is another teacher describe how she and others say they are being sexually harassed by male students at redwood highschool, in the same district. "there has been a woman who had condoms on her car, one male student asked a teacher what she looked like without any clothes on." "at first, i was shocked, to be honest with you." i met with school board president leslie lundgren. she says, the board had no idea the women were going to address the board in open session, but she says, she is glad they spoke up... so the board can take action. they have hired a private lawfirm that specializes in work place issues, as well as bring in a speciality female administrator. lundgren. the

as kron four's rob fladeboe reports this suggestion comes after a sharp increase in std cases. mirroring a trend across california and the nation, syphilis, gonorrhea and chlamydia have been increasing for the past five years here in santa clara county. california has the highest number of cases of all states and it's not just confined to the youngest, most sexually active people among us says the health department's dr. sarah lewis dr. sarah lewis/santa clara county health dept. "...it's very worrisome becase we're seeing the rise across all genders, across all sexual orientations and increasingly across all age groups. where once we saw chlamydia and gonorrhea mostly in people ages 15-25, now we are seeing these rising rates in all ages..."(full screen)in 2016, the latest data available shows that there were 6,963 cases of chlamydia, 1,914 cases of gonorrhea and 351 cases of syphilis in santa clara county. the number of cases of syphilis also tripled

blam blam( grant ) america's oldest gunmaker files for bankruptcy.remington arms wants to restructure its 700=million dollar debt.the company is blaming what it calls difficult industry conditions.( catherine ) so what does this say about america's supposed love affair with guns? kron four's steve aveson is in the newsroom with some answers. steve? product chain ulta repackages returned cosmetics and puts them back on the shelf selling them to unsuspecting customers. it is widespread knowledge that this practice has been occurring throughout all stores for years.attorney tom zimmermann represents a local woman who works in the beauty industry and became suspicious about some of the products purchased from ulta. he says the complaint filed last week in cook county circuit court cites claims by former employees of ulta that the corporation has a limit on how many returned items can be thrown away.the managers will take the use products out of the damaged bin and if they look good enough to resell they'll put them back on the shelves and resell them so that they don't exceed their quota.zimmerman says these products purchased from the ulta store on north michigan avenue seemed to be previously used eyeshadows missing a brush face cleansers already opened. he says the danger comes in pathogens that can remain on products for weeks. there was e. coli and klebsiella bacteria. which is commonly found in your intestine and it's expelled

first... we continue to get new information on the woman who was found brutally stabbed in the east bay. she's been identified as 19- year-old lizette cuesta of tracy. she was found crawling on tesla road in livermore yesterday... and died a short time later. police say she willingly got in a car with the 2 suspects.... 19-year-old daniel gross and his 25-year- old girlfriend melissa leonardo. cuesta identified them before dying monday at a hospital. they're set to appear in court tomorrow. (grant) an important vote tonight in concord. the city council will consider outfitting police officers with body cameras. members will vote to approve a one-point-five million dollar contract with the company that would approve the cameras. if approved-- all officers will have body and dash- cameras by september of this year. (catherine) in the south bay... a large group of students and parents are meeting tonight...in the hope of stoppingsome lay-offs at the east side union high school district.. those at risk of losing their jobs

(grant) and in the north bay. april ninth... is the deadline for the removal of all hazardous wildfire ash and debris from all homes and businesses in santa rosa. that's according to city officials...who say as of last week... there were approximately 335 resdidential and 12 commercial structures that had not been cleared of ash and debris by private contractors. 3000 santa rosa homes and businesses were destroyed in the october wildfires. (catherine) on the peninsula... a warning after a mountain lion was spotted in san mateo county. it happened around 2:30 this afternoon near crystal springs reservoir. the mountain lion was spotted about a mile and a half north of the sawyer camp trail entrance on skyline boulevard. it didn't seem aggressive... but officials

(catherine) p-g-and-e is warning that unsecured metallic balloons can fly into power lines - causingdangerous outages. they're bringing it up now since a lot of the balloons are presented on valentine's day....more so than any other holiday. earlier this month - metallic balloons caused a power outage in san jose..which affected nearly 36 hundred residents. (catherine) more couples are getting married in san francisco. in the fiscal year 2016-2017 -- nearly four- thousand more were public licenses were recorded thanin 2007. city officials say same-sex marriage is a major factor - which wasn't legal back then. as for valentine's day tomorrow... san francisco generally sees about three times more weddings than usual.. (philippe) shaleem tindle was killed january third... when a bart police officer shot the 28-year-old across the street from the west oakland bart station... where on tuesday, members of tindle's family and their attorney john burris declared the shooting was unjustified. john burris/attorney- "this is the backside of shaleem. one hole here, one here and one here." burris shared this photo of shaleem, pointing to three entry wounds on his back. the result of the three gunshots burris says bart officer joseph mateu (muh-too) the third fired at tindle. investigators found a gun on the ground after the shooting. tindle's family says it was shaleem's. in a civil claim filed by the family against bart... the tindle's say shaleem shot the man he was fighting in the leg before the officer responded... but that shaleem was not in possession of the gun when the officer opened fire. laron mayfield, shaleem's older brother witnessed the shooting... as did

(grant) the 19-year old woman who was brutally murdered monday morning has now been identified as lizzette cuesta of tracy. before she died, she was able to identify two suspects ---19-year old daniel gross of modesto and 25-year old melissa leonardo. police say the two are romantically involved with each other. they have been arrested and booked into santa rita jail. it was around 2am monday when a driver on tesla road in livermore saw cuesta on bleeding on the side of the road and called 911. we are now hearing from the driver who found the woman on the side of the road yesterday. richard load-holt says the woman was fighting for her life when he found her... soaked in blood and dragging herself along the road.
