a big story we're following this morning ... police are looking for a man involved in a deadly shooting in san francisco. police say the suspect approached two men in golden gate park. they started arguing, then the suspect shot both men, killing one and injuring the other. the shooter took off running...and car-jacked a person. police are still looking for the shooter and the stolen s-u-v he used to get away. it's a silver toyota 4-runner...license plate number 7-a-o-b-8-1-6. thanks camila. we

across the country this morning to a stunning admission from the f-b-i reveals that someone had called the agency about the confessed parkland, florida shooter last month. it was a tip that the f-b-i didnt follow up. kron four's spencer blake has the story. some funerals are already underway for those shot and killed at marjory stoneman douglas high school in south florida.emotions were still raw friday when the f-b-i announced someone called in a tip about the confessed shooter on january fifth.the caller gave specific information, explained that he owned a gun, and made online statements that he wanted to kill people."that protocol was not followed. the information was not provided to the miami field office, and not further investigation was conducted at that time."former f-b-i agent rick smith says this failure falls squarely on the shoulders of the bureau."ya know sometimes you get a call that can't be acted upon. here you have a suspect's name,

what he's going to do, a little bit about him, and nothing's done?"what's more...the broward county, florida sheriff says his office had also heard a lot about cruz before the shooting. check. 10 days later a person can pick up their gun if they pass ... or are refunded their money if they don't. and gun shop owners also have the discretion to refuse to sell someone a gun ( marty ) parkin says in the last 3 years the california doj has said no to fewer than 10 gun buyers ( marty ) with the florida high school massacre on everyone's minds. a bay area father has created an app to help police during mass shooting incidents. mike jacobs is also a palo alto school administrator who says he is concerned about the increase in school shootings. the app is called safeguard o-e-s is expected to launch before the end of the month. jacobs began developing the app right after the sandy hook shooting 5 years ago. it is meant to help teachers and staff members communicate with

first responders during active shooter situations. the "real time" g-p-s system shows authorities exactly where the threat is. it also gives an overview of the entire campus, and displays the status of every area.

( marty ) people in mexico are still rattled following that massive earthquake that struck yesterday. the 7-point-2 quake rattled buildings the epicenter was in the oaxaca region. this is the third major earthquake in southern mexico in the past six months. kron4's charles clifford has been tracking the quake and has the details.. friday's earthquake in southern mexico, was felt from the pacific coast to mexico city 225 miles away.sotwe were on the 6th floor of our hotel

and everything was shaking. jack davis and his family are vacationing in mexico city. he spoke with kron4 friday afternoon via skype. he says they were in their hotel when the quake hit but their first warning that something was wrong was actually when they heard mexico's earthquake early warning system going off outside.sotwe heard this wierd sound about 30 seconds before hand. it sounded like a dump truck. that was the early warning system.jack says that after the quake hit, they quickly left the hotel and were greeted with a chaotic scene outside.sotall the traffic was stopped the streets were cluttered. there were these different alarms going through the loudspeaker that we couldn't understand. friday's quake comes 5 months after a pair of earthquakes. . a magnitude 8.2 on september 7th and a magnitude 7.1 on september 19th killed more than 400 people and injured thousands more in southern mexico. fortuantly, as of late friday evening, there have been no reports of fatalities and only light damage. davis says they didn't see any injuries or damage in mexico city but they are taking extra precautions in

devices are being affected by an issue called a "text bomb" yet again. reports say i-o-s 11-point-2-point-5 has a major flaw caused by a unicode symbol. which is a character that visually represents text in another language. software engineers recently found that two specific indian language symbols can crash any apple device when used. if you have an apple device and get a message with the text ... your device could shut down completely. apple is working on resolving the issue. ( marty ) speaking of apple ... the company's new home-pod might need a coaster. some people who bought the newly released 350- dollar speaker ... say it leaves a white ring on wooden furniture. but apple says the problem is actually normal. it happens often when a product is equipped with a silicon base. apple recommends wiping wood tarnished by the home-pod with a soft or damp cloth... or putting the speaker on another device.

( marty ) a bummed out dog is about to get a lot more popular, thanks to a facebook post. twice a month, "sting" visits a library in minnesota, so kids can read to him. it is part of a library program called "paws to read." but last week, no one showed up to read to sting. so his owner posted some lonely- looking pics of him on facebook. the post quickly went viral. now the library's phone has been ringing off the hook with people wanting to read to sting. officials say the dog is now booked through april. breaking news this morning out of mexico ... 13 people are dead and 15 are injured after a helicopter crash. officials say that helicopter was surveying damage caused by a massive 7-point-two earthquake that hit southern mexico yesterday. the epicenter was in the oaxaca region .. this is the third major earthquake in southern mexico in the past six months. kron4's charles clifford has been tracking the quake and has the details. friday's earthquake in southern mexico, was felt from the pacific coast to mexico city 225 miles away.sotwe were on the 6th floor of our hotel and everything was shaking.

jack davis and his family are vacationing in mexico city. he spoke with kron4 friday afternoon via skype. he says they were in their hotel when the quake hit but their first warning that something was wrong was actually when they heard mexico's earthquake early warning system going off outside.sotwe heard this wierd sound about 30 seconds before hand. it sounded like a dump truck. that was the early warning system.jack says that after the quake hit, they quickly left the hotel and were greeted with a chaotic scene outside.sotall the traffic was stopped the streets were cluttered. there were these different alarms going through the loudspeaker that we couldn't understand. friday's quake comes 5 months after a pair of earthquakes. . a magnitude 8.2 on september 7th and a magnitude 7.1 on september 19th killed more than 400 people and injured thousands more in southern mexico. fortuantly, as of late friday evening, there have been no reports of fatalities and only light damage. davis says they didn't see any injuries or damage in mexico city but they are taking extra precautions in case there are aftershocks.sot we are back in the hotel. we were only outside for 10 minutes. we packed our bags.

six months. kron4's charles clifford has been tracking the quake and has the details. friday's earthquake in southern mexico, was felt from the pacific coast to mexico city 225 miles away.sotwe were on the 6th floor of our hotel and everything was shaking. jack davis and his family are vacationing in mexico city. he spoke with kron4 friday afternoon via skype. he says they were in their hotel when the quake hit but their first warning that something was wrong was actually when they heard mexico's earthquake early warning system going off outside.sotwe heard this wierd sound about 30 seconds before hand. it sounded like a dump truck. that was the early warning system.jack says that after the quake hit, they quickly left the hotel and were greeted with a chaotic scene outside.sotall the traffic was stopped the streets were cluttered. there were these different alarms going through the loudspeaker that we couldn't understand. friday's quake comes 5 months after a pair of earthquakes. . a magnitude 8.2 on september

( marty ) an airline employee helped prevent two teens from becoming victims of human trafficking. the two young girls --ages 15 and 17 -- came to the woman's ticket counter. they had a number of small bags, but no i-d's. the worker noticed the tickets from sacramento to new york were purchased online... and the credit card used had a different name. and she noticed another sign that something was wrong. ( marty ) the teens told deputies they met a man on instagram... who invited them to new york for the weekend to model. sheriffs believe if the airline worker didn't intervene, the girls would have become victims of human trafficking ( marty ) state lawmakers are proposing new protections for renters in california.
