( robin ) breaking news we are following overnight... nearly a dozen small earthquakes rattle the east bay. since 11:30 last night there have been 11 small quakes in the danville and diablo areas. the most recent happening at 3:25 this morning. you can see on the map where all of the quakes were centered. the biggest quake hit at 3:24 this morning... that was a 2-point-8 magnitude quake.

the smallest was a 1-point-8 magnitude. this is the second time this week that an earthquake swarm has hit the danville area. there are no reports of any damage. ( robin )president trump threatening to take ice and border patrol out of california. this notion not sitting well with a number of politicians... and local organizations who are speaking out against the president's comments. kron 4's ali reid reports. pkga sanctuary city is meant to protect innocent families trying to make a life in the u-s. but president donalad trump says california is protecting criminals. especially ms-13 gang members. we talk about child safety, that these kids walk home alone and they meet one of these gangs. these aren't human beings. these are animals.he's now threatening to pull immigration and border patrol from the state.if we ever pulled ice out and said her let california figure it out themselves, in 2 months they'll be begging for us to come back. they would be

begging.california is the nation's first 'sanctuary state' - which limits the degree to which state and local agencies can cooperate with ice agents .... advocacy groups believe the president is trying to pool all immigrants into one pile.we're not criminals. this is some sort of scare tactics.scaring americans to be afraid of us. but americans are human beings like us and we live around them in our everyday lives. and they know that the majority we're decent hardworking people that believe in america and we're working for that.i believe immigration is an issue in america that needs a real solution. i think the president needs to work on a real solution instead of demonizing us and trying to scare people. ( robin ) it's not clear how serious the president is about actually doing this ... but immigrant groups now want to empower themselves by learning even more about their rights. stirring up controversy... pitching the idea of possibly giving bonuses to school teachers... who undergo gun training.kron-4's justine waldman talked to some local educators... and shares their reaction to the president's proposal nats bell no guns are allowed at san mateo high school. the presidents latest proposal includes an end to gun-free zones. and to arm highly trained teachers with concealed weapons to secure schools against mass shootings like the one in parkland last week. sot the position is ridiculous and ludicrous history teacher casey teague tells me he is here to teach. that handling guns, should be left to the experts - like law enforcement.sot adding something like a weapon undermines the entire environment we are trying to create on the school campus the president insists the

"attacks would end" if teachers were armed, adding that they would need regular training and would get paid more.. pres. trump: "we have to harden those schools, not soften them. a gun-free zone to a killer, or somebody that wants to be a killer, that's like going in for the ice cream. that's like saying, 'here i am, take me.'" the n-r-a agrees with the president.wayne lapierre: "schools must be the most hardened targets in this country."sot j: would you want to have a gun? heavens no? mr. teague has concerns about how the guns would be secured, the extent of training and the message it sends to students. plus, put an unreasonable burdens on educators.sot it is not a solution to the problem adding more violence does not resolve it if anything it would escalate the itjustine: the president said federal funding would become available to pay for the bonus and training. justine waldman kron 4 news.

( robin )warriors coach steve kerr reacting to the mass shootings and gun violence. kerr says the students protesting... asking for stronger gun laws.. are starting to make a difference. i think what those kids are doing is great and i think it is the start of change, i really do. every time i see them on tv or online, im amazed. its heartbreaking but inspiring all at once. ( robin )kerr went on to say that as a country it is the young people who will curb gun violence... and it is truly amazing to watch this process. gun control is near to kerr's heart. his dad, malcom kerr, was shot and killed in 1984... haight-ashbury neighborhood. now police believe their deaths may be linked to fentanyl. kron 4's charles cliforrd has that story. sotif you buy a drug on the street, you have no idea what's in it and it could kill you.dr thomas aragorn is san francisco's health officer. he says that the death of three menearly thursday morning is alarming. sotsi've been at the health department since 1996 and as far as i know we have never had three people die from a drug overdose.while testing has not yet been completed on the victims, he says it appears that they may have died after consuming fentanyl. a 3-milligram dose of fentanyl can kill a healthy adult male in minutes. dr. aragon says that fentanyl consumption is a growing problem in san francisco. fentanyl is often mixed in with other drugs such as crack, methamphetamine or opoids and without testing there's no way to know if fentanyl is present. hoping to avoid a repeat of thursday's tragic events, health officials are making three suggestions.first, users should never take drugs alone. second, users should obtain naloxone, a drug which can reverse the effects of fentanyl.sotit could save your life or the life of someone your withand third, testing strips are avaialbe that can detect fentanyl.sotthey are

( robin )in san jose... a high school track coach is behind bars... after being accused of possessing child pornography. just last week his brother was arrested on the same charge. this morning we have learned... they're twins. on tuesday... officers arrested clinton pappadakis at his home. authorities say... child pornography was located on several devices in his home. he was booked into the santa clara county jail. pappadakis was a track coach at oak grove high school.(cont) ( robin ) just last week... his twin brother clifford pappadakis... was arrested for suspicion of annoying and molesting a child... and possessing child pornography. clifford pappadakis worked as a physical education teacher, as well as, a track and field

coach at willow glen middle school. the investigation started when parents say... they witnessed pappadakis taking pictures of female students on september 8th. the parents reported the incident to the school officials... who then alerted police. ( robin )in the east bay... a man was found dead following a physical altercation outside a mobile home park. right now... a murder suspect has been arrested... and is behind bars. the incident happened at diablo mobile lodge in concord. kron 4's haaziq madyun... has the details. a physical confrontation between two men ends in deadly stabbing here at diablo mobile lodge in concordconcord police investigators say their officers and medical first responders were called to lodge drive thursday around 5:22am for a man who was not breathing. life saving measures were performed but the victim was pronounced dead at the scenesotcesar cambron lives in the diablo

heading towards a safer future. in berkeley the area around the gilman street exit... just off interstate- 80... could soon be reconstructed to make driving safer. kron 4's hermela aregawi reports. the gilman street interchange has long been extremely dangerous and city and county officials are working to make it safer.according to the alameda county transportation commission..the number of accidents on i-80 eastbound there is 95-percent above state average, while westbound is even worse at 115-percent over. lauren kaplan/albanyyou know it's really really busy. the traffic is getting really crazy and dangerous, and having kids and you know, people darting in and out. it's just not a very safe place.this week.. the albany city council was presented a plan that would add round abouts on both sides of the highway - that wold funnel traffic onto and coming off 80. they're also considering adding an overpass for cyclist and pedestrians.yumi

( robin )san francisco's historic preservation commission... has voted unanimously to remove part of civic center's pioneer monument. critics of the 18-94 sculpture... made their case to the commission in a meeting yesterday. the monument has been criticized for being insensitive and racist... for its depiction of native americans in california. the removed component of the statue would be stored in a facility away from the civic center. the san francisco

arts commission now has the final say on the matter. ( robin )five current and former public officials have been charged with misspending public money. the charges follow a 20-17 state audit of the panoche water district in central california. authorities say... on top of the misspending... they found mishandling of hazardous waste at a rural water agency. police say investigators found barrels of hazardous chemicals buried at the water district. state attorney general xavier becerra says, the officials used public money inappropriately for items including... kitchen remodels, baseball games and... believe it or not... katy perry concert tickets. the federal charges were filed wednesday.

after he reported his wife had hung herself from a tree in bodega bay. authorities say debra bales attempted suicide multiple times over three days with her husband's help. bales apparently had just come off of opoid medication and feared she would become addicted. clement is facing voluntary manslaughter charges. a preliminary hearing is scheduled for april 17. right now... a cardiologist is behind bars... accused of charging patients a fake one-hundred-dollar "dea fee"... and prescribing thousands of opioid pills at once in sacramento county. 67-year-old nicholas capos jr... was sentenced to four years in federal prison. prosecutors say... he prescribed patients pills without conducting physical examinations. in one incident capos jr... prescribed one patient 26- hundred hydrocodone pills... in just 28 days. capos... no longer has his medical license. alerting north bay wildfire survivors about a suspected unlicensed contractor. the board is warning people about this man... peter koke of north carolina the boards says koke is running a company operating under the name koke cleanup.. or koke demolition. they're currently investigating the company... and believe they are using a fake license number. working with the north bay disaster fraud task force and the f-b-i...the state board is investigating claims that koke was paid thousands of dollars but never completed the work. the state says, at least six people have possibly been victimized. by year 20-22. in part one ....of a two part series... kron 4's dan kerman takes a look at two bay area westfield shopping centers... that have already taken steps to if rumors of the shopping malls demise are true what's happening here at westfield's valley fair property in santa clara, they're spending 1.1 billion dollars to remodel the mall from floor to ceiling and expand.sot ben lazzareschi/exe cutive v.p., jllthis is a large format remodel where they are not only adding a large format bloomingdales but also adding a plaza and some open spaceben lazzareschi (laaz-er-resk-ee) is with jll, a commerical real estate management firm which has studied what retail centers are doing stay relevant. he says valley fair is a great example of how malls are changing with the timessot ben lazzareschiwhat we're seeing is malls adding new

amenities to increase their attractiveness and draw to their customerslazzareschi says that begins with unique and great restaurants. valley fair has already started in that area with din tai fung, the steamed dumpling and noodle restaurant. and its redevelopment project will expand to include an outdoor dining district. lazzareschi says entertainment, in the form of live music or movie theaters like this one going in at valley fair must also be part of the package to bring in customers both day and night. westfield's san francisco centre already has many of these amenities; state of the art movie theaters, a spa, and another key component, this community space under the dome which brings people together for public events. sot leah heil/senior g.m., westfield sf centrewe are a curated city within a city, everything you want and need as at your fingertipsleah heil is senior

morning... police in el cerrito are looking for these two men. officer say the two broke into a home last friday but they are just releasing these surveillance images. the two broke in through the back door and ransacked the place. nobody was home at the time. it is not clear if anything was stolen. ( james ) we have told you about laptop thieves targeting coffee shops around the bay area. now, police have released a video showing just how fast it can happen. take a look at this... 3 people enter a peets coffee in berkley... in less than 30 seconds... they spot a laptop they want to take and are out the door. and in this particular case... the victim was seriously injured. cal students told us they know this is happening... but admit it can be hard to watch what's going on around them. police say people should backup what's on their computer...get tracking software...and pay attention both inside and outside a cafe. ( darya ) the u-s supreme court has agreed to hear the case of a bay area billionaire who is trying to block access to a public beach in half moon bay. vinod khosla bought the piece of property along martins beach back in 2008. he then blocked off the only road leading to the beach... despite a court order. an appeals court ruled that he is breaking the law by blocking public access to the beach. he appealed that ruling to the state supreme court but that appeal was denied. the case will now be heard by the u-s supreme court. ( james ) we told you yesterday about a woman who's car was stolen after she welcomed a homeless woman into her home... well that car has been found. sharon

( darya ) a story story this morning... a san jose high school track coach is arrested... accused of possessing child pornography.( james ) just last week... his twin brother was arrested on the same charge. on tuesday... officers arrested clinton pappadakis at his home. authorities say child porn was found on several devices in his home. he was booked into the santa clara county jail. pappadakis was a track coach at oak grove high school. ( james ) and last week...

clifford pappadakis was arrested for suspicion of annoying and molesting a child... and possessing child pornography. clifford pappadakis worked as a p-e teacher and a track and field coach at willow glen middle school. the investigation started when parents say... they witnessed pappadakis taking pictures of female students back in september. the parents reported the incident to the school... and police were called. ( darya ) happening today... the sentencing trial begins for a former san mateo county teacher after he pleaded guilty to 5 felonies related to photo shoots involving young girls. anthony satriano taught at st. matthew episcopal day school for about 3 years. prosecutors say he would take pictures of girls... between the ages of 4 and 6 years old... in sexually suggestive poses. there are five victims named in the case against him but prosecutors say he may have targeted as many as 20 kids. ( darya ) in the south bay... two teenagers have been arrested for a shooting in

morgan hill. it happened near the corner of tennant avenue and church street. an 18-year-old man was shot in the leg. he is expected to be okay. witnesses say that the victim got into an argument with two people before the shots were fired. those witnesses were also able to lead police to one of the two suspects. the other eventually turned himself in. both are 17- years old. ( darya ) former oakland airport baggage handler has plead guilty to charges in a pot smuggling scheme. keith mayfield is one of 13 people indicted by a federal grand jury for trafficking pot grown in northern california to other states. he admitted to smuggling at least 551 pounds of pot between 20-13 and 20-15. mayfield will be sentenced in federal court on june sixth in oakland... he faces up to 20 years in prison. ( james ) officials are warning north bay wildfire survivors about a suspected unlicensed contractor. the board is warning people about this man... peter koke of

north carolina the boards says koke is running a company operating under the name "koke cleanup" or "koke demolition." they're currently investigating the company... and believe they are using a fake license number. working with the north bay disaster fraud task force and the f-b-i... the state board is investigating claims that koke was paid thousands of dollars... but never completed the work. the state says at least six people have possibly been victimized. ( james ) graffiti was spray painted at a local high school -- targets president trump. it was found tuesday morning at vanden high school in fairfield... and shows frustration with the current president and recent shootings. students say there are other ways to get your message out... and a staff member who was among the first to notice the graffiti agrees... but also sees the other side of it.

( darya ) sonoma county is getting more than 3 million dollars... to help hundreds of people return to work... after the october firestorm. california's employment department says the money will put 700 people back to work through sonoma county job link. the money will pay for job training in construction... healthcare... and retail. ( james ) a heads up to people heading to the theaters today ... the cinemark theater chain is now banning movie goers from bringing certain bags into their theaters. kron 4's gabe slate breaks down the policy. these signs stating cinemark movie theaters new "no big bags allowed policy" are

placed front and center as movie goers enter any of their 30 bay area movie house locations. officials with cinemark, which also owns the century theater chain, said this was an effort to enhance the safety and security of their guests and employees. sound from steven-it makes sense, probably because of florida, need to keep safe. cinemark did not say the florida high school shooting inspired this change but the timing is hard ignore. as mass shootings continue in this country they may be the first of many movie theater chains to implement a policy like this. the official cinemark policy is no bag bigger then 12 inches tall, 12 inches wide, with a depth of 6 inches.this rules out regular sized backpacks, big shopping bags, roller luggage most purses will fit within this 12 x 12 x 6 allowance. diaper bags and medical bags will be

allowed.. i visited several cinemark theaters.. i did not see anyone get turned away for their bag being too big. if a customer's bag was bigger than the new policy allows it was searched.. and then the person was let in with that bag. perhaps they are being lenient because it's the first day of this new ban but for now i would not worry about being separated from your bag you might just be searched.. i spoke with movie goers about the new rule most people did not mind sound from movie goers i don't mind, it's good, it's safer for all, i am ok with it. jenny thinks this new policy will mostly affect people who ride bikes or public transit to the movies sound from movie goersit's bad for commuters, people on bus and train who take their big bag everywhere, i feed bad for them. in daly city, gabe slate kron 4 news.
