shivers anxiously as she awaits the call of her father who was arrested by immigration and customs enforcement agents. she says about 6 of of their cars pulled up to her napa home at 9:40 sunday morning as he was doing yardwork.sot: isabella salgado, daughter// "i figured i should say bye at least while they were arresting him because i figured it's better to say bye in person that not to say bye at all."..but she didn't get to say bye. instead isabella says an ice agent told her to wait in a car from where she watched her father walk away in handcuffs.sot: helena ponce, wife// "and he he was like they just asked if i was armando and he said the only thing i said to them was what? and then they just handcuffed me and put me in the car."the ice agents were then spotted by food truck

employees in the parking lot of the century theaters where the family says armando was kept in a car for about a half hour in what they believe was a move to make their presence known.sot: helena ponce, wife// "so that people can see them and he says they were like jokingly saying you're next to mexican guys eating food."sot: karla marquez, north bay rapid response network// "for them to park outside of a movie theater in a parking lot on a sunday where people are with their families they're shopping nearby that is if they didn't detain anybody that does strike fear in people."an

immigrant ( james ) after hearing from what she hearing from after hearing from considers "credible sources", oakland mayor libby schaaf warned that there would be ice raids across the bay area. mayor schaaf says she is not trying to cause a panic. she wants to let immigrants know that there is help out there for them. a representative from the "oakland community organization" says there has been an increase in phone calls from worried families. now mayor schaaf wants those families to know their rights. ( james ) several people were taken into custody during the ice raids all across the bay area. raids were confirmed in napa... el sobrante and pinole. the raids prompted san jose mayor sam liccardo to issue a statement saying that the city supports immigrants and that the san jose police department does not participate in ice operations. ( james ) and happening today... a father of three who was detained by ice could learn his fate. there will be a hearing and vigil today in san francisco. last

night... the man's family and communtiy came together to show him support. kron 4's hermela aregawi was there and spoke to the family. fernando carrillo has been behind bars for nearly five months..ice officials detained him in october - after he dropped his daughter off at day careon monday... the family will attend what may be his final court hearing. lourdes barraza/ice detainee's wifewe are fearful. we are overwhelmed. but at the same time, we feel some sort of relief knowing that we are finally going to know what's in store for us.carrillo's entire family.. including parents and siblings are documented.. and live in the san jose area. he entered the u.s. for the first time in 2004 on a visa.. his family says when he tried to renew it.. he was accused of false identification and served 30 days in jail. carrillo reentered that same year.. and stayed until he was deported in 2012.. after ice officials pulled him over.francesca paist/ice detainee's nieghbor when undocumented are able to find a job and pay taxes, when you separate them, what are they to do. now the cost can be we need to put them on welfare assistance where as had we left them intact they were taking care of themselves. the father of three has been working as a direct tv installer for the last four years. he is the main breadwinner. his wife says.. if he's deported.. the family

leave with him.detainee's daughter:"i miss him"(hermela aregawi)we reached out to ice... the say..carillo has a false id charge and a prior dui conviction.. which his family says was a misdemeanor. tomorrow morning.. the judge will decide.. wheter any of that matters. reporting in san jose hermela aregawi kron 4 news. ( james ) in the east bay... police arrested a man with outstanding warrants. it happened at the lake merritt bart station in oakland. police received reports about a man possibly involved in drug activity on a dublin bound train. police waited at the lake merritt station and detained brian borland. no drugs were found on borland but a records check revealed he has two outstanding warrants.... one for larceny in colma and

another in pleasanton. ( james ) police make an arrest after an armed robbery and sexual assault at a party city store in fremont this weekend. the crime happened saturday just as the store was opening....and kron four's spencer blake caught up with a witness who was shopping there. the party city at fremont hub was the target of a man who took advantage of the employees there in more ways than one.saturday morning, police say a man walked into the store and held two female employees at gunpoint.a report says he also sexually assaulted them."8:30 in the morning? that's pretty brazen. and it's pretty quiet around here, i'm sure."the suspect left the store after that....and this woman was parked right in front of the doors.she saw him walk - not run - out of the store with his hands in his front pockets. he was dressed all in black. "it was odd. little movement - his movement was just odd. he was kind of like hurrying, but trying to be like calm at the same time."though she thought it was strange, our witness went inside to shop, and heard an employee whimpering in the aisle next to her.that's when she found out an armed robbery had ájust happened."they were shaken, but i just stayed just to be comfort because everyone else left the store."employees called 9-1-1 and multiple fremont police officers

arrived quickly and fanned out looking...but couldn't find the man.sunday the department reported that officers had worked all day and into the night saturday...and finally found and arrested a suspect a few streets over on grimmer boulevard.a private security guard manned the entrance to party city sunday, which shoppers tell me is ánot standard procedure."that was a little weird to me. it's like, 'who wants to break into a party city?' but now i understand why today they would have someone there." police haven't released the suspect's name, but a spokesman says charges against him will likely be filed monday."if i came in like two minutes earlier, i probably would have been in there with this whole thing going down." in fremont, spencer blake, kron four news. avenue in emeryville. someone told police that three people were trying to get into apartments. when police arrived they found that the kids had also stolen packages from some of the apartments. ( james ) nearly two weeks have passed since the shooting rampage at marjory stoneman douglas high school in parkland, florida that killed 17 people. students and staff will return this week as the investigation into the shooting continues to grow. john lawrence has the details. students returned to the scene of the crime on sunday... picking up items they dropped in a panic during the shooting rampage on february 14th. marcel olivera/student"i felt happy to be back, to be around everybody that was there, to know that everybody was safe it was uplifting. i felt better."the open house helped ease some of the tensions that have been brewing since the terrifying day when 17-people were killed and others were injured..greg pittman/teacher, marjory stoneman douglas high schoolpeople were very upbeat and very relieved to see each other, like you haven't seen them in years. and it felt

like it's been years since i've seen them."teachers and staff members return to work monday and tuesday.students are back in class on wednesday. as they try to return to some sort of normalcy...florida governor rick scott called for an investigation into how authorities responded to the incident.gov. rick scott/r- florida"i want to do everything i can in my job right now to make sure this doesn't happen again."as officials look for answers, there are calls to suspend or remove broward county sheriff scott israel.rep bill hager/r- florida state house"i'd be supportive of the sheriff stepping aside so we can get an objective analysis of all the facts." israel, however, says he has no plans to step down.sheriff scott israel/broward county"at this point we have no reason to believe that anyone acted incorrectly or correctly. that's what an investigation is."i'm john lorinc reporting. there was a heated discussion on the best way to stop gun violence. a bay area congressman hosted a town hall meeting in lafayette. kron four's philippe djegal was there and reports on community solutions to a deadly problem. (philippe) a timely town hall -- centered on gun violence prevention... draws more than 850 people to the stanley middle school gymnasium... with the line to get in -- stretching outside the door.nancy morgan/mother- "i'm concerned about the powerless feeling that i have about, not just school violence, but violence -- gun violence in general." nancy morgan and her husband's two older boys studied at lafayette schools. nancy morgan/mother- "i think that assault-style weapons need to be banned." they are in california... but representative mark desaulnier (duh-sohn-yay)... the host of this town hall... says not at the federal level... which falls on the lap of congress.mark desaulnier/con gressman- "in the three years that i've been there, there've been over 300 gun violence bills introduced -- none of them have had a hearing or a vote. so, we need to have a hearing and a vote." during the 90-minute gathering... several in the audience had a chance to speak and ask questions...

or, just make statements. some taking shots at president donald trump and his ideas on how to make schools safer.no name/speaker- "arming teachers is a bs idea." brad fell is a former member of the national rifle association. brad fell/gun rights advocate- "my concerns that the federal government will take away my second amendment rights." at times, fell became combative with the crowd and the congressman himself.nats- "i'd love to go out and have a beer with you and talk about it. shut up! please folks." fell says after mass shootings... the typical knee-jerk reaction is to unfairly blame them on guns. brad fell/gun rights advocate- "guns are not the problem -- people are." congressman desaulnier says lawmakers should focus on background checks.mark desaulnier/con gressman- "in california we require them, but we should have national background checks, and get rid of the loophole where people don't have to do a background check if they go to gun shows." in the end, nancy morgan says she's hopeful -- national gun laws will get a makeover.nancy morgan/mother- "if you give up hope, then nothing will ever change." and, change may be on the horizon. in lafayette, philippe djegal,

( james ) in san francisco ... an increase in crime in the upper haight and panhandle neighborhoods has many residents on edge. over the weekend people from the neighborhood attended a meeting to talk about their concerns. it was hosted by district supervisor london breed. the police chief discussed a recent homicide in the neighborhood, but said generally it is an area of low crime. neighbors asked for more foot patrols in the area after the bodies of three men were found in the street following an apparent drug overdose. homeless advocates were also at the meeting. they asked the community to be more understanding of the need for affordable housing and health resources.

"you cannot reason with a tiger when your head is in its mouth!"gary oldman remains the favorite to win best actor at sunday's academy awards... and so are the artists who turned him into winston churchill for "darkest hour." the film picked up two prizes at this year's make-up and hair stylists guild awards: best period and-or character make-up, and best special make-up effects.(nat)war movies often win oscars for sound, and it appears "dunkirk" is ready to uphold that tradition. the world war two thriller won the motion picture - live action prize for sound mixing at the cinema audio society awards. among its eight nominations, "dunkirk" is up for best sound editing and best sound mixing at sunday's oscars."three, two, one, ready, action!""the shape of water" director guillermo del toro has good reasons to attend this year's guadalajara international film festival: the mexican city is his hometown, and according to variety, del toro is scheduled to open a new movie theater named after him on march 10th. the festival's director says "hopefully, he'll have a few oscars in tow." we'll find out sunday. in hollywood, i'm david daniel.

( james ) menlo park police are looking for a man they consider armed and dangerous. he's jose gutierrez. police think he is in a silver honda accord. police believe his neighbor's loud party upset him... and that's when he fired off a gun in his backyard. witnesses say it was an assault type weapon. the swat team set up a perimeter around his house. we talked to a man who says he saw the whole thing go down. ( james ) the swat team did enter the home sunday

morning... and found evidence of a shooting. but again... the gunman has not been found. ( james ) two people are injured after a fire tears through their home in san jose. it happened yesterday afternoon on the 31-hundred block of kermath drive. when firefighters arrived the two people were outside the home with minor burn injuries. they were taken to the hospital and are expected to be okay. nobody else was injured. the cause is under investigation but firefighters say been a cooking mistake. ( james ) a university of san diego basketball coach was arrested in the bay area on suspicion of domestic violence. lamont smith was taken into custody at oakland yesterday morning. police were called to a hotel near union square after midnight for a domestic disturbance. the victim was taken to the hospital. smith is facing charges of domestic violence... assault and false imprisonment. smith was previously an assistant coach at both santa clara university

and saint mary's college. san diego was in town taking on san francisco last night. ( james ) a suspected drug dealer is in jail this morning in san francisco. this is a picture of the drugs police seized in the bust. the incident happened on mission street... in the citys south of market neighborhood. that's where officers seized 470 bindles of heroin... meth... and cocaine. a man was arrested and booked into jail...police have not released his name. ( james ) now to the east bay ... where concord police arrested a man after a chase near highway four. police say the driver of a mustang refused to stop when officers told him to pull over. he began throwing items from inside the car. officers recovered those items as evidence. and after arresting the man ... they also found money and two bags of a white-substance. ( james ) in the south bay.... police arrested a man in connection with several bank robberies in the last two months. police say oscar radillo is responsible for three bank robberies in san jose. the first two

happened early last month. and the lastest one was earlier this month... at a chase bank. police tracked radillo down at the great mall in milpitas. he was arrested and booked into the santa clara county jail. ( james ) in oakland, more than a dozen people are without a home ... after a fire erupted in the basement of their building. the fire broke out saturday afternoon in an apartment building on linden street. fortunately, the fire was confined the basement. fire officials say fire detectors, carbon monoxide detectors and extinguishers helped keep the fire from spreading. ( james ) because of the cold weather, the fire chief says they're seeing a lot of fires caused by heaters. but he is not sure if that was the cause of this fire. ( james ) police in the

east bay have arrested three teens after they robbed a bart passenger. it happened at the bay fair bart station in san leandro. police say the three teens stole a laptop from a bart passenger while he was waiting on the platform. the officers quickly detained the teens and the victim was able to identify them. they were booked into juvenile hall on multiple charges. the laptop was recovered and given back to the victim. ( james ) in the north bay, police are looking for people accused of stealing lottery tickets from a convenience store. it happened friday night at the discount cigarettes store in petaluma . a man entered the store... and grabbed two large racks of california lottery scratchers from the counter. the man then ran out of the store and got into a car the driver took off. police think the two people are in the santa rosa area cashing in on winning lottery tickets. ( james ) in san francisco-- teachers held a flash mob over the weekend in honor of "working people's day of action." they were

celebrating the contributions of educators and workers around the world. the event happened in front of the ferry building on the embarcadero. teachers held up signs in the shape of apples listing their contributions in classrooms... then they danced to live music. san francisco is one of dozens of cities that celebrated "working people's day of action" across the country. ( james ) thousands of people came to san francisco to welcome in the year of the dog with the annual chinese new year parade. it's a celebration that honors a community whose roots grow deep in the city. kron 4's ella sogomonian shows us the sights and sounds from the parade. (nat: fire crackers ) crackling fireworks kicked off the chinese new year parade at market and second street saturday night.the annual tradition has been hosted in san francisco for several decades.sot: very proud of the chinese culture in the united states and the population here is getting bigger and bigger." the city is home to one of the largest chinese populations in america. the first settlers emigrated in the mid-1800's to the bay area where they took part in the gold rush and built the transamerican railroad.the colorful pageantry is a way to pay respect to their heritage and showcase their culture to those new to the traditions. sot: i mean i love it i love all different cultures and i love to see so much diversity and it being celebrated."sot: where did you move from? san diego,. what is your

impression of your first chinese new year in san francisco? it's been super fun i love all the culture and the parades its been super fun" music, martial arts, traditional attire and dragons passed by in the grand display for all to see. sot: ella sogomonian, @ellasogomonian// "and parades actually aren't a chinese thing this is a way the community was able to meld together the american culture along with their own chinese tradition and make this a truly special event that's been a staple of san francisco for more than several decades." sot: chinese chamber of commerce// "chinese new year parades are an american tradition it doesnt happen in china so we are part of the san francisco community and that's why we have our annual parade."200 groups participated including the newly made 240 foot long golden dragon that marked the end of the parade that took one year to plan.

of our future of malls series. hilltop mall in richmond has seen better days. but now developers say there is no need to worry because the mall is not dying... it's changing. kron 4's dan kerman has an up close look at what's to come for this once popular east bay spot. this is richmond's hilltop mall in better days when hundreds turned out for an arts benefit shortly after the mall opened in 1976sot leslie lundin/ managing partner, lbg real estate companies 09-19 they would have like 700 people in the center court and really utilize it and make it into a public space that you don't normally seethat's a far

cry from what it looks like now while the grand spiral walkway and this art installation known as the solar cantata remain, many shops are empty, and on any given weekday there can be just as many security people on hand as there are shoppers. but leslie lundin thinks the shops at hilltop can once again be a vibrant community space that draws people in from all over the east bay. sot we call it a transformation, it's not that the mall is dying, the mall is changinglundin is the managing partner of lbg real estate companies which bought the 77 acre site last year... and plans to redevelop it into a mall for the future. sotwe put a suggestion box out to the community to say what do you want. and pretty consistently people said great restaurants, we want entertainment. people need a safe place to hang out, a sheltered place to hang out and hang out with their kids, and play with their kids and this is the perfect environment for it.the redevelopment plan calls for not only a face lift inside and out, but a change in the mix of tenants. there will be a movie theatre, a live theatre, a food hall, and 50,000 square feet of restaurants and various entertainment related tenants which could include bowling,

billiards and karaoke there will also be an enlargement of the mall's central court sot we're going to be creating a larger common area because that's what people want , people wants space for more kiosks and more exhibit space. lundin says familiar retailers will also be on hand, as well as unique ones like this bookstore, specifically geared to those who live in this area. sotthe reason why the multi cultural bookstore is successful is because it is curated because somebody has gone out to find books about children from different cultures.and it's amazing they keep telling us stories about kids who are dragging their parents back to this store because it's something they have never seen beforebut this mall of the future also will focus on services. the existing 24 hour fitness will be joined by a 99 ranch asian supermarket, and developers also hope to add health care providers and spa services, and a future phase would use some of these empty parking lots to bring housing to the greater hilltop by the bay development..sotwhat we do want are walkable communities, so ultimately our goal is to create a walkable mixed use community and this retail property is going to be an amenity for this entire

community, like a downtown. developers agree it's a sizeable undertaking sot it's huge, it is, but we're enjoying it and we think the community is going to love it as well when we get done. standup dan kerman/richmond 315-325construction is set to get underway this summer, with a phase 1s grand opening during the summer of 2019 parts of the mall will remain open during the transformation. in richmond, dan kerman, kron 4 news.

( james ) in entertainment news... three new movies hit theaters over the weekend... but could any of them take down black panther at the box office? david daniel has a look at the box office winners. "fifty shades freed" fell to fifth place, grossing six- point-nine million dollars in its third weekend in theaters. the sci-fi mystery thriller "annihilation" began its run in fourth place with 11-million dollars. "peter rabbit" hopped down to third place, gobbling up 12- and-a-half million dollars. "this will be a game night to remember.""oh boy.""hmm.""game night" took the silver medal in its debut weekend, earning 16-point-six dollars... a far cry from (nat)wakanda forever!

south bay father could find out if he'll be deported back to mexico. fernando carrillo has been behind bars for nearly five months.. he was arrested in october -- after he dropped his daughter off at day care. carrillo's entire family -- including parents and siblings are documented. they live in the san jose area. carrillo came to the u-s in 2004... on a visa. his family says when he tried to renew it... he was accused of using false identification and served 30 days in jail. carrillo re-entered that same year.... and stayed until he was deported in 2012... after ice officials pulled him over. today... he'll be joined by his family... for his final court hearing. ( james ) carrillo is a father of three. he'd been working as a direct tv installer for the four years. his wife says áif he's deported... the family leave with him. a prayer vigil

will be held this morning... at san francisco's ice building... ahead of carrillo's hearing. ( james ) a napa father was rounded up in an immigration raid over the weekend. armando salgado came to the u-s -- from mexico -- when he was just 4- years old. his 14-year-old daughter says he was taken into custody sunday morning... as he was doing yard work. the family took video of the arrest. she says she didn't even get to say goodbye. ( james ) salgado's wife says her husband does have a criminal history... but she says he is now a hardworking family man and he isn't a threat to anyone. an ice representative did not respond to questions about salgado's arrest. ( james ) after hearing from what she considered "credible sources"... oakland mayor libby schaaf warned that there would be ice raids across the bay area. mayor schaaf said she was not trying to cause a panic. she wanted to let immigrants know that there is help out there for them. a representative

from the "oakland community organization" says there has been an increase in phone calls from worried families. now mayor schaaf wants those families to know their rights. ( james ) several people were taken into custody during the ice raids all across the bay area. raids were confirmed in napa... el sobrante and pinole. the raids prompted san jose mayor sam liccardo to issue a statement saying that the city supports immigrants and that the san jose police department does ánot participate in ice operations. ( james ) two people are hurt after a fire tears through their home in san jose. it happened yesterday afternoon on the 31-hundred block of kermath drive. when firefighters arrived the two people were outside the home with minor burn injuries. they were taken to the hospital and are expected to be okay. nobody else was injured. the cause is under investigation but firefighters say been a cooking mistake.

( james ) new this morning... police arrest three kids for prowling and theft in the east bay. it happened at an apartment complex on christie avenue in emeryville. someone told police that three teens were trying to get into apartments. when police arrived they found that the kids had also stolen packages from some of the apartments. ( james ) menlo park police are looking for a man they consider armed and dangerous. he's jose gutierrez. police think he is in a silver honda accord. police believe his neighbor's loud party upset him... and that's when he fired off a gun in his backyard. witnesses say it was an assault type weapon. the swat team set up a perimeter around his house. we talked to a man who says he saw the whole thing go down. ( james ) the swat team did enter

the home sunday morning... and found evidence of a shooting. but again... the gunman has not been found. ( james ) in the east bay... police arrested a man with outstanding warrants. it happened at the lake merritt bart station in oakland. police received reports about a man possibly involved in drug activity on a dublin bound train. police waited at the lake merritt station and detained brian borland. no drugs were found on... borland but a records check revealed he had two outstanding warrants. one for larceny in colma and another in pleasanton. ( james ) also in the east bay...a woman hit by a bart train is expected to recover from her injuries. it happened last night at the north concord bart station on port chicago highway. the woman was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive. ( james ) the california democratic party is ánot endorsing longtime senator

dianne feinstein... as she seeks her 5th term in washington. only 37- percent of delegates supported feinstein. 54- percent support her primary challenger -- state senator kevin de leon. 60-percent of delegate votes are needed to get the endorsement. that means neither candidate will get the party's seal of approval or extra campaign cash leading into the june primary. ( james ) students are returning to marjory stoneman douglas high school this week in parkland, florida. it's been nearly two weeks... since a gunman killed 17 people at the school. students returned to the campus on sunday for an open house. teachers and staff members are back at work today. students will be back in class on wednesday. the broward county sheriff's office says it received a number of calls about confessed shooter nikolas cruz. one calls -- from november -- said cruz might be a school shooter in the making. ( james ) delta and united airlines are joining the growing list of companies that

are cutting ties with the n-r-a. neither airline will offer discounted flights to n-r-a members. their decision comes after growing criticism over the n-r-a's refusal to support stronger gun laws. other companies ending discount programs with the n-r-a include met-life and hertz. ( james ) the deadly florida high school shooting prompted a bay area congressman to push up his planned town hall on gun violence. more than 850 people came to stanley middle school in lafayette for the meeting over the weekend. people had a chance to voice their concerns and ask questions. tensions were high while some people wanted more gun regulations... and others said they wanted to protect their second amendment right. we spoke to one mother who said she felt powerless over gun violence. ( james ) although assault riffles are banned in california... they are not banned on a federal level.

( james ) our top this morning... two people are killed and another injured in a shooting overnight near daly city. kron4's lydia panatazas is live with the latest. just before 9pm sunday night of shots fired near villa street and hillside blvd. pd arrived on scene to find three people hit by gunfire. one male was pronounced deceased at the scene. one female died of injuries while on the way to the hospital. third victim was transported to the hospital and their condition is unknown at this time. there are two outstanding suspects and no description at this time. pd says there is no threat to the public and they believe the shooter/s knew the victims. no further and under investigation. ( darya ) police make an arrest after an armed robbery and sexual assault at a party city store in fremont.( james ) it happened saturday just as the store was opening. kron four's spencer blake caught up with a witness who was shopping there. the party city at fremont hub was the target of a man who took advantage of the employees there in more ways than one.saturday morning, police say a man walked into the store and held two female employees at gunpoint.a report says he also sexually assaulted them."8:30 in the morning? that's pretty brazen. and it's pretty quiet around here, i'm sure."the suspect left the store after that....and this woman was parked right in front of the doors.she saw him walk - not run - out of the store with his hands in his front pockets.

"it was odd. little movement - his movement was just odd. he was kind of like hurrying, but trying to be like calm at the same time."though she thought it was strange, our witness went inside to shop, and heard an employee whimpering in the aisle next to her.that's when she found out an armed robbery had ájust happened."they were shaken, but i just stayed just to be comfort because everyone else left the store."employees called 9-1-1 and multiple fremont police officers arrived quickly and fanned out looking...but couldn't find the man.sunday the department reported that officers had worked all day and into the night saturday...and finally found and arrested a suspect a few streets over on grimmer boulevard.a private security guard manned the entrance to party city sunday, which shoppers tell me is ánot standard procedure."that was a little weird to me. it's like, 'who wants to break into a party city?' but now i understand why today they would have someone there." police haven't released the suspect's name, but a spokesman says charges against him will likely be filed monday."if i came in like two minutes earlier, i probably would have been in there with this whole thing going down." in fremont, spencer blake, kron four news.

( darya ) a home in the east bay has been the target of multiple break-ins... and surveillance cameras caught it all on video. the rodeo home owner sent us these videos. one shows a thief entering through the side gate to get into the garage. another shows a crook coming right up to the front door to see if it is unlocked. the recent break-ins have prompted people in the neighborhood to buy a security system. ( darya ) neighbors believe it is the same thief in each of the videos. ( darya ) in san francisco ... an increase in crime in the upper haight and panhandle neighborhoods has many people on edge. over the weekend... people from the neighborhood attended a meeting to talk about their concerns. it was hosted by district supervisor london breed. the police chief discussed a recent homicide in the neighborhood, but said generally it is an area of low crime. neighbors asked for more foot patrols in the area after the bodies of three men were found in the street following an apparent drug overdose. homeless advocates were also at the meeting. they asked the community to be more understanding of the need for affordable housing and health resources.

( james ) in the east bay ... where concord police arrested a man after a chase near highway four. police say the driver of a mustang refused to stop when officers told him to pull over. he

began throwing items from inside the car. officers recovered those items as evidence. after arresting the man ... they also found money and two bags of a white- substance. ( james ) police in the east bay have arrested three teens after they robbed a bart passenger. it happened at the bay fair bart station in san leandro. police say the three teens stole a laptop from a bart passenger while he was waiting on the platform. the officers quickly detained the teens and the victim was able to identify them. they were booked into juvenile hall on multiple charges. the laptop was recovered and given back to the victim. ( james ) in oakland, more than a dozen people are without a home ... after a fire erupted in the basement of their building. the fire broke out saturday afternoon in an apartment building on linden street. fortunately, the fire was confined the basement. fire officials say fire detectors, carbon monoxide detectors and extinguishers helped keep the fire from

( darya ) a university of san diego basketball coach was arrested in the bay area on suspicion of domestic violence. lamont smith was taken into custody at oakland yesterday morning. police were called to a hotel near union square after midnight for a domestic disturbance. the victim was taken to the hospital. smith is facing charges of domestic violence... assault and false imprisonment. smith was previously an assistant coach at both santa clara university and saint mary's college. san diego was in town taking on san francisco saturday night.

( darya ) a fire broke out in san jose just after 3 this morning... it happened at a strip mall on alvin avenue. the fire caused some damage to the building's attic. firefighters were able to have it under control shortly after they arrived. officials said some busniesses in the mall could possibly be closed today because of the damage. no one was inside the building during the fire and there injuries. this morning... bart carries hundreds of thousands of riders around the bay everyday. we asked bart riders how they think the system can be improved. kron four's philippe djegal reports those commuters had a lot to say. (james) breaking news from overnight... two people are killed and another injured in a shooting overnight near daly city.(darya) the killer has not been caught. kron4's lydia panatazas is live with the latest. the call came just before 9pm sunday night of shots fired near villa street and hillside blvd. pd arrived on scene to find three people hit by gunfire.one man died at the scene. one woman died of injuries while on the way to the hospital. a third victim was transported to the hospital and their condition is unknown at this time. police are looking for two gunmen and no description at

this time. pd says there is no threat to the public and they believe the shooter/s knew the victims. ( james ) our top story this morning... immigration raids across the bay area land several people in custody including a napa county father. kron 4's ella sogomonian has the latest on the weekend raids. 14 year old isabella salgado shivers anxiously as she awaits the call of her father who was arrested by immigration and customs enforcement agents. she says about 6 of of their cars pulled up to her napa home at 9:40 sunday morning as he was doing yardwork.sot: isabella salgado, daughter// "i figured i should say bye at least while they were arresting him because i figured it's better to say bye in person that not to say bye at all."..but she didn't get to say bye. instead isabella says an ice agent told her to wait in a car from where she watched her father

walk away in handcuffs.sot: helena ponce, wife// "and he he was like they just asked if i was armando and he said the only thing i said to them was what? and then they just handcuffed me and put me in the car."the ice agents were then spotted by food truck employees in the parking lot of the century theaters where the family says armando was kept in a car for about a half hour in what they believe was a move to make their presence known.sot: helena ponce, wife// "so that people can see them and he says they were like jokingly saying you're next to mexican guys eating food."sot: karla marquez, north bay rapid response network// "for them to park outside of a movie theater in a parking lot on a sunday where people are with their families they're shopping nearby that is unusual and even if they didn't detain anybody that does strike fear in people."an immigrant rights group told kron 4 several people were arrested in the east bay on the same day and all had previous deportation orders...including armando.his wife says the 39-year-old was brought from mexico to america when he was 4.she admits he has a criminal history...but says he isn't a threat and instead is a hard working family man who she along with their son and daughter rely on. sot: isabella salgado, daughter// "well at first it kind of makes me sad but after a while i get really angry and frustrated and just question like why? just why? there are so many other criminals without papers that are

(darya) happening today... a south bay father could find out if he'll be deported back to mexico. fernando carrillo has been behind bars for nearly five months.. he was arrested in october -- after he dropped his daughter off at day care. carrillo's entire family -- including parents and siblings are documented. they live in the san jose area. carrillo came to the u-s in

2004... on a visa. his family says when he tried to renew it... he was accused of using false identification and served 30 days in jail. carrillo re-entered that same year.... and stayed until he was deported in 2012... after ice officials pulled him over. today... he'll be joined by his family... for his final court hearing. ( darya) carrillo is a father of three. he'd been working as a direct tv installer for the four years. his wife says áif he's deported... the family leave with him. a prayer vigil will be held this morning... at san francisco's ice building... ahead of carrillo's hearing. ( james ) after hearing from what she considered "credible sources"... oakland mayor libby schaaf warned that there would be ice raids

across the bay area. mayor schaaf said she was not trying to cause a panic. she wanted to let immigrants know that there is help out there for them. a representative from the "oakland community organization" says there has been an increase in phone calls from worried families. now mayor schaaf wants those families to know their rights. ( james ) several people were taken into custody during the ice raids all across the bay area. raids were confirmed in napa... el sobrante and pinole. the raids prompted san jose mayor sam liccardo to issue a statement saying that the city supports immigrants and that the san jose police department does ánot participate in ice operations. ( darya) two people are hurt after a fire tears through their home in san jose. it happened yesterday afternoon on the 31-hundred block of kermath drive. when firefighters arrived the two people were outside the home with minor burn injuries.

they were taken to the hospital and are expected to be okay. nobody else was injured. the cause is under but say been a cooking mistake. ( darya ) new this morning... police arrest three kids for prowling and theft in the east bay. it happened at an apartment complex on christie avenue in emeryville. someone told police that three teens were trying to get into apartments. when police arrived they found that the kids had also stolen packages from some of the apartments. ( darya) menlo park police are looking for a man they consider armed and dangerous. he's jose gutierrez. police think he is in a silver honda accord. police believe his neighbor's loud party upset him... and that's when he fired off a gun in his backyard. witnesses say it was an assault type weapon. the swat team set up a perimeter around his house. we talked to a man who says he saw the whole thing go down. ( darya ) the swat team did enter

the home sunday morning... and found evidence of a shooting. but again... the gunman has not been found. ( james ) in the east bay... police arrested a man with outstanding warrants. it happened at the lake merritt bart station in oakland. police received reports about a man possibly involved in drug activity on a dublin bound train. police waited at the lake merritt station and detained brian borland. no drugs were found on... borland but a records check revealed he had two outstanding warrants. one for larceny in colma and another in pleasanton. ( james ) also in the east bay...a woman hit by a bart train is expected to recover from her injuries. it happened last night at the north concord bart station on port chicago highway. the woman was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive. democratic party is ánot endorsing longtime senator dianne feinstein... as she seeks her 5th term in washington. only 37- percent of delegates supported feinstein. 54- percent support her primary challenger -- state senator kevin de leon. 60-percent of delegate votes are needed to get the endorsement. that means neither candidate will get the party's seal of approval or extra campaign cash leading into the june primary. ( darya ) students are returning to marjory stoneman douglas high school this week in parkland, florida. it's been nearly two weeks... since a gunman killed 17 people at the school. students returned to the campus on sunday for an open house. teachers and staff members are back at work today. students will be back in class on wednesday. the broward county sheriff's office says

( james ) in the north bay... police are looking for people accused of stealing lottery tickets from a convenience store. it happened friday night at the discount cigarettes store in petaluma . a man entered the store... and grabbed two large racks of california lottery scratchers from the counter. the man then ran out of the store and got into a car the driver took off. police think the two people are in the santa rosa area cashing in on winning lottery tickets. after an armed robbery and sexual assault at a party city store in fremont. kron four's spencer blake caught up with a witness who was shopping there. the party city at fremont hub was the target of a man who took advantage of the employees there in more ways than one.saturday morning, police say a man walked into the store and held two female employees at gunpoint.a report says he also sexually assaulted them."8:30 in the morning? that's pretty brazen. and it's pretty quiet around here, i'm sure."the suspect left the store after that....and this woman was parked right in front of the doors.she saw him walk - not run - out of the store with his hands in his front pockets. he was dressed all in black. "it was odd. little movement - his movement was just odd. he was kind of like hurrying, but trying to be like calm at the same time."though she thought it was strange, our witness went inside to shop, and heard an employee whimpering in the
