( robin ) this morning... we now know the names of two people killed in a shooting near daily city. we first told you about this shooting yesterday on the kron 4 morning news. they are 21 year old vanessa guillory of san francisco and 22 year-old michael garcia-salem from half moon bay. last night a vigil was held in broadmoor... near daly city. flowers and candles were left at the scene in front of the hillside market where guillory and garcia-salem were killed.

out between the victims and another group. a third person who was also shot is expected to be okay. ( robin ) ice raids in several bay area cities played out over the weekend but the number of people arrested was not as high as anticipated. oakland mayor libby schaaf announced saturday that those raids could be coming... and now as kron 4's dan kerman explains... the mayor is doubling down. soti do not regret sharing this information, i felt it was my duty to share the information i hadoakland mayor libby schaaf is making no apologies about warning bay area residents saturday that federal immigration agents were set to conduct raids and make arrests.sot libby schaaf/oakland mayor 16-24it is important that people know their rights and responsibilities and what resources are available to them in this community immigrant rights organization report raids in at least 6 northern california cities. and oaklands centro legal de la raza reports 11 to 15 arrests, which they say is not an abnormally high number for the region. and while the mayor is getting some support on her facebook page like this post saying "keep it up mayor schaaf" most are critical.. this one calling her a traitor and another bringing up kate steinle and threatening the life of schaaf's family her response

came to the u-s in 2004 on a visa. his family says when he tried to renew it... he was accused of using false identification and served 30 days in jail. dozens of people showed up to the us immigration and customs enforcement office in san francisco... pushing for carillo to be released. a judge is expected to make a final decision in three weeks. ( robin ) in the south bay... city leaders are taking steps to help people prepare for another emergency... more than a year after the coyote creek flooding forced thousands from their homes. last night the city held a meeting for flood victims to talk about improvements that have been made. water officials say they have placed markers in the water to get a quicker read on how high the levels are as for the emergency notification system... officials are hoping to get alerts out quicker. they've installed two new flood barriers and removed a lot of debris to help slow flooding in the future.. ( robin ) a new report criticizes north bay officials for struggling to alert thousands of people in a timely fashion... as fire raced through hills and homes last october. a special team of state experts... examined sonoma county's response to the firestorm - in which 42 people died. the report reveals what the assessment team claims were mis-steps. sonoma county supervisor james gore says the people deserve better. ( robin ) gore says it is impossible to say if a better system could have lessened the damage or saved lives... but he is determined to improve the current system. the cause of the firestorm is still being investigated. city on edge after a school shooting threat was posted on social media... frightening parents and students.... but it turns out the threat was not meant for the bay area school. but... as kron4's haaziq madyun reports...some parents are still concerned about their children's safety... those parents asked that we disguise their voices. sot that is lincoln middle school in alameda. this parent says their child receive this heads up message around 7am monday morning from a friend about a potential threat from a student targeting the school. the parent asked not to reveal their identitysot

( robin ) in national news... congress is back in washington this week and gun control is front-and-center. it was also a major topic of discussion during president trump's gathering with state governors on monday. john lawrence explains. nearly two weeks have passed since 17-people were killed in a florida high school.and the gun control debate is raging. president trump/no font needed "we continue to mourn the loss of so many innocent, precious young lives. but we'll turn our grief into action. we have to have action." the white house has yet to release specific legislative framework for any gun-based proposals. but the president pledged to eliminate bump fire stocks and called for strengthening the country's background check system.gov. john kasich/r-ohio "you just got to go and check who you are who you're selling a gun to. i mean these are things that are just- they're not depriving anybody of their second amendment." some

( robin ) gun control supporters in the state say california's laws are working. according to the brady campaign to prevent gun violence - california has seen a 57 percent decrease in firearm deaths over the past 22 years. but some opponents of the bill say more restrictive gun laws are not the answer to gun violence. ( robin ) for your money... get ready to pay more for a gallon of gas... this is because crude oil costs are going up. right now... gas prices are 26-cents higher than they were this time last year.. right now in oakland a gallon of regular will cost you $3.32. in san jose .... it's a few cents cheaper at $3.29. and san francisco is the most expensive in the nation ...

( robin ) in the north bay... a group of senior citizens formed a protest in santa rosa... because they worry they'll never get to go back home. the protest was right in front of the mobile home park where they live - one that was mostly destroyed by the north bay wildfires back in october. by order of the state... these surviving homes at the - journey's end mobile home park - have been red-tagged because there are no utilities there. ( robin ) now many of the people at the mobile home park have been denied long term housing assistance from fema and their insurance companies because their homes are still standing, but officials say in order to get these people back in their homes... the entire infrastructure of the park would have to be rebuilt. the group of seniors say they will continue to protest every

( robin ) in the south bay... a tree trimmer is dead..after he was electrocuted by power lines in san jose it happened yesterday afternoon on page mill road. neighbors initially called 9-1-1 to say that the tree trimmer appeared to be stuck and could not get down. when fire crews arrived... they realized the man had been electrocuted when he cut a branch that hit a power line. the victim has not yet been identified.

( robin ) people who live in the recent burn and mudslide-devastated areas of southern california are bracing for more stormy weather. there's been nearly two months of clean-up work since those deadly mudslides tore through dozens of homes in montecito -- and killed 21 people. since then, there hasn't been a lot of rain and crews have been able to clear the debris. but now - with another storm approaching... people are getting ready for more potential trouble. people in montecito have already been told to get ready to evacuate just in case. ( robin ) president trump will soon be making his first visit to california as commander in chief. the president will head to our state in mid-march to view prototypes for a potential border wall, and to learn more about the construction. he

( robin ) this black history month... we're celebrating the pioneers who are shaping our country. this morning... we meet a woman who knows about the civil rights movement... because she was a part of it. john grey shares this piece of hidden history. nell stokes didn't read about the civil rights movement, she lived it. nell stokes says: "i didn't really recognize the extent of the racism until i was 6 years old" raised in montgomery, alabama her best friend was a white girl... til the first day of school. stokes says "i saw her and i ran over to her and said, ah, ah, was gonna say hi connie and she looked at me and said why you talking to me little náááá, wow, get out of my face and it stung me"that sting stayed with her... so years later when a woman in town

( robin ) the warriors are winners in new york. they beat the knicks at madison square garden last night. after a close first half... the warriors blew this one open in the third quarter. klay thompson nailed a three. he scored 26 points. the warriors won 125 to 111.

from adam mcgill, police chief novato - "if there is an active shooter situation, whether youre a lone officer or a team of officers you are to go in and engage the suspect as quickly as possible">( darya ) police chief adam mcgill recently spoke out on social media. he said he was sickened by the missed opportunities in florida. a former resource officer at the parkland high school waited outside the building... as the gunman was inside. mcgill says officers take an oath to run toward an active shooter. ( darya ) in the east bay... confusion over a school shooting threat. a middle school in alameda was thought to be targeted on social media. one parent says their child got a message from a friend -- that threatened the school. alameda police say the message was traced to washington state... and actually targeted lincoln high school in tacoma. tacoma police arrested a boy up there

for making the threat. here's what happened in alameda. ( darya ) some parents we talked to were upset that it took the school a few hours to get the robo calls and emails going. but the district defended the response -- saying it wanted to release accurate information. ( james ) in the north bay... a young boy is rescued after falling down a ravine. it happened sunday at mount tamalpais state park. officials say the 4-year-old boy fell 30- feet into a creek. the marin fire department helped get the boy to safety. he was taken to children's hospital oakland... where he is recovering. ( james ) in the south bay... city leaders are taking steps to help people prepare for another emergency... more than a year after the coyote creek flooding forced thousands from their homes in san jose. the city held a meeting last night for flood victims to talk about improvements that have been made. water officials say they have placed markers in the water to get a quicker read on how high the levels are in coyote creek. as for the emergency notification system... officials are hoping to get alerts out quicker. ( james ) water officials also say they've installed two new flood barriers and removed a lot of debris to help slow flooding in the future.

( darya ) a tree trimmer is dead... when he was electrocuted by power lines in san jose. it happened yesterday afternoon on page mill road. neighbors called 9-1-1 to say that the tree trimmer appeared to be stuck and could not get down. when fire crews arrived... they realized the man had been electrocuted when he cut a branch that hit a power line. the victim has not yet been identified. ( darya ) in the north bay... a couple is in custody after police linked them to recent burglaries. novato police arrested heather howard and louis thorsson at a storage building on novato boulevard last week. the two were allegedly seen carrying a stolen speaker... when police arrived, they found items connected to four recent burglaries. howard and thorsson were booked into marin county jail. ( james ) police are looking for a jewelry thief in the peninsula. this is the suspect... daly city police tweeted this picture.

( james ) four people are behind bars this morning... after two home invasion robberies... and leading officers on a chase. it happened in richmond on saturday night. the first home invasion happened in the carriage hill neighborhood. while officers responded to that crime... another home invasion was reported nearby. the burglars tried to get away... but then crashed into a light pole off of interstate- 80 in pinole. police say the car they were driving had been stolen three weeks ago in a carjacking. three of the people arrested are juveniles. plane in the air... and bright flashes showing the plane on fire. it happened on the flight from salt lake city to los angeles yesterday. a woman was walking to work when she noticed the flames shooting out of the airplane overhead. and a mother onboard the plane was on her way to disneyland with her family when the plane made the emergency landing. ( darya ) the fire was out by the time the plane landed back at the salt lake city airport. there were 110 passengers on board... and they were able to get on another flight to l-a-x. southwest released a statement apologizing for the inconvenience. right now... we don't know what caused the engine to catch fire. ( james ) in the east bay... oakland mayor libby schaaf's decision to warn people about the possibility of an immigration sweep has led to a mix of support and multiple threats. ice raids in several bay area cities did play out over the weekend. one of schaaf's supporters wrote "keep it up mayor" on her facebook page. but opponents wrote "traitor" on schaaf's page. and one mentioned kate steinle and threated the mayor's family. but schaaf has no regrets... saying it was her responsibility to warn the public. ( james ) immigrant rights organizations reported raids

in at least six northern california cities. oakland's centro legal de la raza.... reports 11 to 15 arrests... which they say is ánot an abnormally high number. ( james ) an immigration judge in san francisco has delayed a decision on whether to deport fernando carrillo... a father of three who was detained by ice last october. carrillo came to the u-s in 2004 on a visa. his family says when he tried to renew it... he was accused of using false identification and served 30 days in jail. dozens of people showed up to the u-s immigration and customs enforcement office in san francisco... pushing for carrillo to be released. a judge is expected to make a final decision in three weeks. ( darya ) in the north bay... seniors are protesting in santa rosa. they fear they'll never get to go back home. the protest started yesterday -- in front of the mobile home park where they live -- one that was severly damaged by the north bay wildfires back in october. by order of the state...

homes that are still standing at the journey's end mobile home park have been red-tagged because there are no utilities there. ( darya ) many of the people at the mobile home park have been denied long term housing assistance from fema and their insurance companies because their homes are still standing. officials say in order to get these people back in their homes... the entire infrastructure of the park would have to be rebuilt. the seniors say they will continue their protest for the next several days. (darya) the california supreme court gathered to discuss controversial sentences for juveniles. yesterday the court ruled 4 to 3 in a vote that prison sentences of 50 years or more for juveniles are unconstitutional. the court issued its decision in the case of two young men who abducted and raped two other

minors in 20-11. one of the boys was sentenced to 50 years to life in prison... and the other 58 years to life in prision. the case was sent back to superior court for reconsideration. (james) starting today... drivers driving east on the richmond-san rafael bridge are advised to ignore green arrows and red x's on the overhead signs of the lower deck of the bridge. those signs will appear because there's going to be some testing done on the bridge. the testing is to prepare for the opening a third eastbound lane on the bridge between san rafael and richmond. the lane is scheduled to open in april. during the testing period ... only two lanes will be open to traffic. mtc officials say this new lane will ease traffic. ( james ) gun control supporters in the state say california's laws are working. according to the brady campaign to prevent gun violence - california has seen a 57 percent decrease in firearm deaths over the past 22 years. but some opponents of the bill say more restrictive gun laws are not the answer to gun violence.

county, the report revealed what the state assessment team claimed were mis-steps in how the county and its emergency officials faced the most destructive wildfire in california's history. the speciality team who was tasked with evaluating the response stated in the report that alerts and warning capabilities quote "were uncoordinated and included gaps, overlaps, and redundancies with regard to the capabilities in various departments. in addition, "the county lacked reliable, timely and coordinated situational awareness as to the scale, size and scope of the fires growth, character and movement." the team stated procedures and policies identified and utilized were more relevant to dealing with a storm or flooding and those

( darya ) a tree trimmer is dead... when he was electrocuted by power lines in san jose. it happened yesterday afternoon on page mill road. neighbors called 9-1-1 to say that the tree trimmer appeared to be stuck and could not get down. when fire crews arrived... they realized the man had been electrocuted when he cut a branch that hit a power line. the victim has not yet been identified. ( james ) happening now... people who live in the recent burn and mudslide- devastated areas of southern california are bracing for more stormy weather. there's been nearly two months of clean-up work since those deadly mudslides tore through dozens of homes in montecito -- and killed 21 people. since then... there hasn't been a lot of rain and crews have been able to clear the debris. but now - with another storm approaching... people are getting ready for more potential trouble. people in montecito have already been told to get ready to evacuate just in case.
