everything look fresh and new. i get to watch the blossums on the trees popping out when there's a little sun.by friday evening, the wet weather had eased up across the east bay but cool temps remained and more rain remains in the forecast ( marty ) a big story we're following this morning... two 12 year olds making two different threats, against schools in san jose. kron 4's hermela aregawi spoke to police and explains why one child was arrested, and the other was not. san jose parents on edge.. after a spike in school shooting threatson thursday.. two students here at sylvandale middle school said a 12 year old boy sent them threatening text messages.it didn't show the actual suspect's cell phone. it was made to look like somebody else's so there was some investigation that went into who this actually came from police quickly investigated the threats and arrested the student.in this case there was a direct threat made to

specific students as well as a direct threat made to the schoolthe second case, on wednesday.... a 12 year old girl tweeted a threat to east san jose schools.. saying.. (gfx)"you guys look so innocent and say you have a no bully zone but you literally make me want to shoot up your (expletive) schools."police served a warrant at the girls home also in san jose but did not arrest her.that was a broad threat that was made towards the alum rock unified school district.several parents in the district say they didn't send their children to school thursday because of that tweet.silvia perez/mother "we were concerned for the safety of the children and at that point i thought,what is this school doing, all these questions came in my mind. it has put me a little bit at ease now that they have said they found who they thought was responsible (hermela aregawi)san jose police say.. the threat from the 12 year old girl is still under investigation. they tell me they will present the case to the santa clara country district attorney.. to determine if there will be cahrges filed. reporting live in san jose hermela news. the south bay... in milpitas...police are investigating a message circulating on social media. the post on snapchat and facebook from a student threatened to shoot up milpitas high school.the student also mentioned pulling the trigger on himself. police say they contacted the student and found that the threat had been re-posted several times. one student told her dad of the threat and he didn't hesistate to drive to the school and take her home. ( marty ) police officers were stationed outside both milpitas high school and calaveras high school yesterday as a precaution. ( marty ) oakland mayor libby schaaf is taking heat from the white house for warning people in oakland about ice raids in the bay area. more than 230 people were arrested in northern

california. the white house says mayor schaaf may have jeopardized the safety of ice officers when she warned the community last weekend. ice carried the raids out in the bay area ... and throughout northern california. the department of justice says schaaf's announcement allowed 880 people toavoid arrest. ( marty ) the mayor says she has received some threats from the public...but none she believe, that pose any serious danger to her or her family. ( marty ) a big story we are following in the east bay. a five-year-old girl was killed in a car crash. authorities say the child was not properly secured in a child safety seat. the crash happened thursday morning on kirker pass road at hess road in concord. officers discovered an overturned s-u-v that went down an embankment. the five-year-old girl died at the scene. three other victims including a six-year-old boy, suffered minor injuries. ( marty ) that crash is renewing concerns over proper use of car seats, and the importance of following the law when it comes to child restraints. kron four's

terisa estacio reports that chp officers often see children improperly buckled up, putting their lives at risk. sacramento are coming together after a puppy was found dead... hanging from a tree. we want to warn that you may find these pictures disturbing... authorities say the black terrier mix suffered nine fractures and internal injuries before it died. the community has raised 16-thousand dollars to help find the killer. police say the school shooting in florida last month only highlights the urgency of finding the puppy killer.

came crashing down...the winds, rain, and snow also wreaking havoc on travel... more than 3,000 flights have been canceled and amtrak has suspended all service between boston and washington, dc. power outages from north carolina to massachusettes leaving hundreds of thousands to settle in for a cold, wet, windy, dark night. in boston, i'm polo sandoval reporting. ( marty ) in the north bay, a man is in the hospital, and a second is being questioned after a officer involved shooting in santa rosa. police say the two men were trying to rob an armored car facility when the shooting started. kron4's maureen kelly has the story. i heard seven gunshots bam bam bam bam bam just all at once. santa rosa police say the gunfire rang out shortly after a hold up alarm was triggered by two employees here at the garda world armored vehicle facility. the pair were allegedly confronted by two suspects inside.one of which was armed with a handgun. if you're to be some sort of a secure walk in a room that

both employees were able to secure themselves and activate this alarm and for the suspension be able to take any cash in that locationone officer responding to the call came upon the suspects as they were walking out.he officer confront of those suspects and the one suspect fail to drop a handgun and instead raised the firearm towards that officer. the officer in defense of his life fired his handgun multiple times at the suspects. the one suspect was struck at least one time by those gunshots.that suspect ran into a creek behind the building and collapsed.he was captured and transported to the hospital with non lifethreatening injuries. the second suspect was discovered hiding inside an empty armored truck.just across the creek is a row of townhouses. one resident's back window was pierced by a bullet.that ended up lodging in the screen of his tv. he didn't want to go on camera, but says it's scary to think he and his wife were right upstairs when this happened. another resident on the street had this to say. it's part of his got argument right. not everyone people shoot firearms that they're going to hit and i think that it's a little scary to think it is that close to you but at the same time we have to try to stay safe and the police have to try to protect us, so i don't know it's a mixed bag

police say it's too soon to know yet if that bullet was fired by the officer or the suspect. maureen kelly kron4 news ( marty ) a man convicted of killing a family of five is sentenced to five life terms without the possibility of parole. a jury convicted binh luc of stabbing, beating and strangling five family members back in 20-12. it was one of the worst mass killings in san francisco history. investigators say luc killed the family during a robbery, after losing money at a casino. ( marty ) and the city of san francisco has released new numbers showing that some crimes in the city are going down. the new numbers show that homicides in the city and murders committed with guns both dropped in 2017. but

the number of rapes in the city increased by 7%. property crimes also increased last year by 15%. and police say early numbers for this year show that the number of car burglaries is on the ( marty ) police are looking for a hit and run suspect on the peninsula. it happened thursday night in san mateo, at the intersection of 5th avenue and humbold street. the pedestrian was walking in a crosswalk at the time of the collison ...but there limited visability at the time because of heavy rain. a witness described the vehicle as a blue 2000's mercedes benz suv. ( marty ) in san jose... a garbage truck driver is dead after he was hit by his own truck. it happend friday morning on camden avenue and el paseo drive. police say the driver died at the scene. no word on what caused the garbage truck to slam into the driver. his name has not been released. jcpenney is once again cutting jobs in anticipation of a worse than forecast year by wall street. the retailer says 360 jobs at stores and corporate headquarters will be cut. jcpenney already closed 140 stores and laid off five-thousand employees last year. wall street reacted to the news with a 10 percent plunge of shares during early trading friday. the retail chain said it expects earnings and sales to be lower in 2018 than wall street analysts predicted. there are eleven jcpenney stores in the bay area... no word yet if those stores will be impacted. ( marty ) oakland mayor libby schaaf is taking heat from the white house for warning people in oakland about ice raids in the bay area. more than 230 people were arrested in northern california. the white house says mayor schaaf may have jeopardized the safety of ice officers when she warned the community last weekend. ice carried the raids out in the bay area ... and throughout northern california. the department of justice says schaaf's announcement allowed 880 people toavoid arrest. following in the east bay. a five-year-old girl was killed in a car crash. authorities say the child was not properly secured in a child safety seat. the crash happened thursday morning on kirker pass road at hess road in concord. officers discovered an overturned s-u-v that went down an embankment. the five-year-old girl died at the scene. three other victims including a six-year-old boy, suffered minor injuries. kron4's maureen kelly has the story. i heard seven gunshots bam bam bam bam bam just all at once. santa rosa police say the gunfire rang out shortly after a hold up alarm was triggered by two employees here at the garda world armored vehicle facility. the pair were allegedly confronted by two suspects inside.one of which was armed with a handgun. if you're to be some sort of a secure walk in a room that both employees were able to secure themselves and activate this alarm and for the suspension be able to take any cash in that locationone officer responding to the call came upon the suspects as they were walking out.he officer confront of those suspects and the one suspect fail to drop a handgun and instead raised the firearm towards that officer. the officer in defense of his life fired his handgun multiple times at the suspects. the one suspect was struck at least one time by those gunshots.that suspect ran into a creek behind the building and collapsed.he was

( marty ) oakland mayor libby schaaf is taking heat from the white house for warning people in oakland about ice raids in the bay area. more than 230 people were arrested in northern california. the white house says mayor schaaf may have jeopardized the safety of ice officers when she warned the community last weekend. ice carried the raids out in the bay area ... and throughout northern california. the department of justice says schaaf's announcement allowed 880 people toavoid arrest.

( marty ) a big story we are following in the east bay. a five-year-old girl was killed in a car crash. authorities say the child was not properly secured in a child safety seat. the crash happened thursday morning on kirker pass road at hess road in concord. officers discovered an overturned s-u-v that went down an embankment. the five-year-old girl died at the scene. three other victims including a six-year-old boy, suffered minor injuries.
