( marty ) in the east bay... the family of a man killed by concord police 5-years ago has been awarded over one million dollars in a settlement. kron4's ella sogomonian has more. 21-year-old charles burns was killed by concord police officers who came to his antioch home on barcelona circle to serve a search warrant back in may of 2013.

( marty ) on the east coast, the cleanup is on following the powerful nor'easter that killed at least nine people . the storm moved out to sea saturday but its effects will linger for days. john cuoco has more. waves higher than houses spilled into neighborhoods in scituate, taking the brunt of a massive storm that saw widespread flooding and heavy winds.midnight's high tide crested at 14.5 feet - three feet above flood stage. saturday morning, residents woke to serious damage.roads along the ocean were flooded and a travel ban was implemented to keep people away from dangerous road conditions.trees and power lines are down throughout the

mike thompson was there to answer questions about gun control. he explained how his bill in congress aims to expand the background check system to include all gun sales, whether in person, online, or at a gun show. the bill would also provide grant money to states to help them submit information to the background check system. thompson says he was impressed by the number of people who showed up. ... uber is getting ready to roll out a new service. the company says it can now help get you to your doctors' appointments for free. every year, millions of americans miss medical appointments because they don't have transportation. the missed appointments cost the medical system more than 150-billion-dollars a year. uber health is partnering with health care providers to schedule rides for patients. so far, more than 100 health care organizations are on board -- including hospitals, rehab centers, senior care facilities and physical therapy centers. ( marty ) delta airlines says it lost a big tax break over a discount used by only 13-people. that's how many customers the airline says used its n-r-a discount. delta scrapped the offer following the deadly school shooting in florida. the move angered some republican lawmakers in georgia. they

the family of a man killed by concord police 5-years ago has been awarded over one million dollars in a settlement. kron4's ella sogomonian has more. 21-year-old charles burns was killed by concord police officers who came to his antioch home on barcelona circle to serve a search warrant back in may of 2013. he was accused of selling drugs.sot: john bounes, father// "i don't know why they messed with him like they did. he was not a bad kid at all. he worked he helped me work on bikes he worked as safeway. it was uncalled for what they did."burns was shot 10 times and there is debate whether a police dog was

deployed before or after the last round was fired.their attorney says police arrived in unmarked cars and burns was unarmed.sot: peter johnson, attorney// "they created this really chaotic situation by being very reckless and it make be as simple as those cops were amped up over this operation and the way it went down. were not acting professionally in it and by creating this chaos they were reacting and responding in a really careless fashion."just weeks before the lawsuit was to go on trial the city of concord agreed to pay 1.2 million dollars in a settlement. but the family says its not about the money. sot: john bounes, father// "the way they shot him and the way they put the dog on him i think they're very sick people i think they need to be drug tested and be taken off the street and prosecuted for what they did to a young man. a 21 year old man who had no gun no knife and i think they made some stuff up."burn's father wants the two officers who shot him francisco ramirez and chris loercher off the streets.

( marty )( marty ) in the east bay, a man is in jail after police say he rammed into 3 police cars during a pursuit. it happened friday night when officers tried to pull over a van for a code violation on concord boulevard and clayton way. police say during the stop, the driver hit a police car and took off. and during the chase, hit two other police cars. the driver-- joseph cormier of walnut creek-- was arrested and charged with three counts of assault with a deadly weapon. one officer had minor injuries. ( marty ) in the sacramento suburb of folsom, high school teachers and staff took part in an active shooter drill. it's part of preparing for a gunman on campus the folsom police department led the training. several area

schools took part in the drill that simulated gunfire and evacuations. it's all part of the department's multi-level approach to stopping gun violence at schools... that includes officer training drills, school safety training, and parent forums.

police are investigating a fire that damaged a home that displaced four people. it happened on anjou place in newark near newark junior high school yesterday afternoon. police closed down some streets in the neighborhood for several hours. here are some photos of the scene. officials say firefighters contained theblaze and kept it from spreading to nearby homes. two people were treated at the scene for minor injuries. no other injuries were reported. the cause of the fire remains under investigation. ( marty ) police arrested a man for allegedly stealing two cars and burglarizing four home in a walnut creek gated community. officers responded to separate calls from neighbors. police say... michael kemper, was under the influence of a controlled substance... when he used the resident's "hidden key" to enter three homes. he then allegedly drove off with one of the stolen cars ....but crashed

the c-h-p says a woman died after being hit by a car on i- 80.it happened around 5-45 this morning near the 4th street exit.the woman was seen walking near the exit when she was struck by a ford escape. police believe she was also hit by several other cars as well.the driver of the ford was questioned by police and was not under the influence.so far no arrests have been made. ( marty ) in the east bay... the family of a man killed by concord police 5-years ago has been awarded over one million dollars in a settlement. kron4's ella sogomonian has more. 21-year-old charles burns was killed by concord police officers who came to his

antioch home on barcelona circle to serve a search warrant back in may of 2013. he was accused of selling drugs.sot: john bounes, father// "i don't know why they messed with him like they did. he was not a bad kid at all. he worked he helped me work on bikes he worked as safeway. it was uncalled for what they did."burns was shot 10 times and there is debate whether a police dog was deployed before or after the last round was fired.their attorney says police arrived in unmarked cars and burns was unarmed.sot: peter johnson, attorney// "they created this really chaotic situation by being very reckless and it make be as simple as those cops were amped up over this operation and the way it went down. were not acting professionally in it and by creating this chaos they were reacting and responding in a really careless fashion."just

( marty ) in the east bay, a man is in jail after police say he rammed into 3 police cars during a pursuit. it happened friday night when officers tried to pull over a van for a code violation on concord boulevard and clayton way. police say during the stop, the driver hit a police car and took off. and during the chase, hit two other police cars. the

driver-- joseph cormier of walnut creek-- was arrested and charged with three counts of assault with a deadly weapon. one officer had minor injuries. ( marty ) in the sacramento suburb of folsom, high school teachers and staff took part in an active shooter drill. it's part of preparing for a gunman on campus the folsom police department led the training. several area schools took part in the drill that simulated gunfire and evacuations. it's all part of the department's multi-level approach to stopping gun violence at schools... that includes officer training drills, school safety training, and forums.

on friday is in jail. james davis junior was arrested yesterday ... after a day long manhunt. the teenager has been on the run after allegedly killing his parents in dorm building. police say a call from a railroad worker led to the arrest. ( marty ) university police say someone from their department spoke with davis on thursday night. he had been transported to a local hospital due to what officers believed was a "drug-related" incident. ( marty ) on the east coast, the cleanup is on following the powerful nor'easter that killed at least nine people . the storm moved out to sea saturday but its effects will linger for days. john cuoco has more. waves higher than houses spilled into neighborhoods in scituate, taking the brunt of a massive storm that saw widespread flooding and heavy winds.midnight's high tide crested at 14.5 feet - three feet above flood stage. saturday morning, residents woke to serious damage.roads along the ocean were flooded and a travel ban was implemented to keep people away from dangerous road conditions.trees and power lines are down throughout the

( marty ) people in sacramento are coming together to raise money after a puppy was found dead... hanging from a tree. the dog was brutally beaten.we want to warn that some viewers may find this content disturbing. lonnie wong has the story from sacramento. ( marty ) police arrested a man for allegedly stealing two cars and burglarizing four home in a walnut creek gated community. officers responded to separate calls from neighbors. police say... michael kemper, was

under the influence of a controlled substance... when he used the resident's "hidden key" to enter three homes. he then allegedly drove off with one of the stolen cars ....but crashed several miles away. but police say they caught him when kemper tried stealing another car. weather in the bay area. has a lot of people thinking about a getaway to the sun, travel enthusiast dana rebmann joins us now to talk about cabo san lucas.. (ááá2 shotááá)if you want quick and easy, with plenty of sunshine, it's tough to go wrong with a trip to cabo san lucas. hop on a direct flight, and you can be walking on medano beach in a few hours. or i hopped on a cruise out of long beach with carnival cruise line and it came with two days in port in cabo. that leaves plenty of time for the beach or one of the many of tours and activities cabo offers.

from medano beach, cabo's famous arch, known as land's end, is an easy boat ride. jump in a water taxi, or you can easily book tours right from the sand or marina area. you'll cruise around the arch and the sea lion colony. some boats will drop you at the beach for short visit, others include snorkeling at pelican rock. the water is clear; the fish are colorful and plentiful, thanks to the occasional tortilla or two that seem to wind up in the water. to beach, goes up from there, bargain) mid-december through mid- april you don't have to leave sight of the coast to watch the humpback whales that come to town. once you pass the arch, you need to keep your eyes open because you never know when one will pop up. whale watching boats run numerous times a day from the marina area. smaller zodiac style boats move a little faster, and may get you a bit closer. larger boats will give you a smoother ride and offers amenities like bathrooms and perks like food and drink.
