( james ) a robbery in daly city leads to a chase in san francisco... and ends with a crash. police got a call about a robbery at the safeway at the westlake center....

around 7 last night. police say the thief took cash out of a register... and then drove off. officers then chased the thief into san francisco. the thief crashed their car into a newspaper stand on church and market streets... and that's where they were taken into custody. ( james ) san leandro police have made an arrest in an assault case. police say maxwell littleton got into an argument with a friend inside a grocery store.. and threatened him with a gun. once outside the store... littleton hit his friend with a wooden stick... knocking him to the ground. the victim was treated for minor injuries. littleton is facing two charges for assault with a deadly weapon and brandishing a firearm. scoff at the sight of new luxury apartment buildings going up... bothered by the fact that most san fraciscan's are priced-out of living in one of these new developments... unaware of the city's inclusionary housing ordinance.kate hartley/mohcd - "the inclusionary housing program definitely makes a big difference." based on the law... developers of all new housing projects with 10-units or more... are required to either, one, make 19-percent of the development affordable housing... two, build an equal amount of affordable units at an off- site location... or, three, pay an in lieu fee... a fee that the san francisco mayor's office of housing and community development collects and then invests in affordable housing.kate hartley/mohcd - "we have had an inclusionary program since 2002." and, in the past decade.. kate hartley... director of the mayor's office of housing and community development... says san francisco has collected about 198-million dollars in inclusionary housing fees. that comes out to about 20-million

dollars a year. when leveraged with low-income housing federal tax credits... state and other local funding... hartley says the inclusionary fees make a big difference.kate hartley/mohcd - "it is actually being spent. we have built over the last 10 years, using inclusionary fees, about 2,000 units. and, uh, we have many more, uh, units, hundreds of units in the pipeline right now." we caught up with kate hartley at the openhouse community at 55 laguna street. san francisco's first 100- percent affordable housing complex for l-g-b-t seniors. built in part with inclusionary housing fees.kate hartley/mohcd - "typically, the city provides about, between 40 and 60 of the cost to build housing." as i mentioned... developers have a choice of either making a porition of new buildings affordable... pay a fee or build affordable units off-site... meaning on a piece of land somewhere else... an option, hartley says,

( james ) a fire destroyed part of a home in the south bay. it broke out sunday morning at 100 magenson terrace in los gatos. the garage burned down. fire fighters were able to put it out before they could reach the home itself. residents of the home quickly ran out as soon as they smelled smoke. the cause of the fire is unknown. ( james ) in the north bay, two people went to the hospital after their car went over the edge of a road. it happened on saturday night. the car went about 150 feet down a ravine along the pano-ramic highway between mill valley and stinson beach. southern marin fire responded to the scene and brought the two victims and their car up... using rope.

( james ) high school students got involved in a town hall meeting addressing gun violence. it happened saturday inside vallejo high school's gym. congressman mike thompson was there to answer questions about gun control. he explained how his bill in congress aims to expand the background check system to include all gun sales, whether in person, online, or at a gun show. the bill would also provide grant money to states to help them submit information to the background check system. thompson says he was impressed by the number of people who showed up. ( james )thompson, who is a gun owner himself thinks high-capacity magazines should be banned. ( james ) for the third straight week... the movie "black panther" topped the box office charts. it is now

( james ) in the wake of recent school shootings, a south carolina company has created what it is calling a bulletproof door. the company unveiled the door on friday. during the

( darya ) aldon smith has a history of run-ins with police. here are just some of the past incidents.( james ) in september of 2013... he was arrested and charged with d-u-i after crashing into a tree in san jose. then in october of that same year... he turned himself in for weapons charges related to an incident in 2012. then in august of 2015 he was sentenced to 20 days in jail after a hit-and-run. then he was investigated last february for domestic violence... no charges were filed in that case. then a month later he was detained after a car he was riding in crashed with a police car in san francisco. no charges

( james ) four teens are in custody following a stolen car investigation in san bruno. it happened saturdy afternoon at the tanforan mall on sneath lane and el camino real. officials saw several people run out of the mall and get into a stolen car. the driver hit multiple cars trying to speed off... the group stopped at a gas station... got out of the car... and tried to run away. the four teens including 3 minors were taken into custody for multiple violations. ( james ) in the east bay... the family of a man killed by concord police was awarded a one-point-two million dollar settlement. 21-year-old charles burns was killed by police who came to his home to serve a search warrant in 20-13. he was

( darya ) a man is in jail after concord police say he rammed into 3 police cars during a chase. it happened friday night when officers tried to pull over a van for a code violation. police say during the stop... the driver hit a police car and took off. and during the chase... hit two other police cars. the driver-- joseph cormier of walnut creek-- was arrested and three counts of assault weapon. suffered minor injuries. ( darya ) a fire in rohnert park forces three people out of their mobile home. the fire started around one o'clock yesterday on rancho verde circle.

crews say smoke was coming from under the home and from the top of the windows. they got the fire out in about 20 minutes. this is a picture from scene from the department of public safety. the american red cross is helping the the people who were living in the home. firefighters believe the fire started in or near the bathroom. ( darya ) a fire damages a home in the south bay. it broke out sunday morning on magenson terrace in los gatos. the garage burned down. fire fighters were able to put it out before it could spread to the home itself. everybody inside the home got out as soon as they smelled smoke. aren't sure yet the fire. ( james )( james ) a fire in rohnert park forces three people out of their mobile home. the fire started around one o'clock yesterday on rancho verde circle. crews say smoke was coming from under the home and from the top of the windows. they got the fire out in about 20 minutes. this is a picture from scene from the department of public safety. the american red cross is helping the the people who were living in the home. firefighters believe the fire started in or near the bathroom. ( james ) a fire destroyed part of a home in the south bay. it broke out sunday morning on magenson terrace in los gatos. the garage burned down. fire fighters were able to put it out before it could spread to the home itself. everybody inside the home got out as soon as they smelled smoke. was elected. they're calling it the "trump slump." the drop is a reaction to the republican getting elected and quieting the fears that democrats will crackdown on gun owners. gun makers sturm, ruger and american outdoor brands have also seen their stocks plunge since the president took office. ( darya ) in the wake of recent school shootings, a south carolina company has created what it is calling a bulletproof door. the company unveiled the door on friday. during the demonstration... the door stopped bullets from an ar-15, a shotgun and a nine-millimeter pistol. the company says the door is designed specifically for u-s classrooms. the company says it can produce about 10-thousand doors a month. ( james ) a fund set-up to help the families of victims in last year's las vegas shooting is now over 31- million dollars. organizers say more than 90-thousand private and corporate donors contributed to the fund. all of the money will be paid directly to the families. loved ones

advocates say ... ice raids are depriving detainees of due process. they claim those swept up in raids ... may not be getting a chance to talk to a lawyer. attorneys say they weren't able to enter ice headquarters in san francisco yesterday ... where many detainees are being processed. some detainees were taken to further offices. this has prompted protesters to rally around the bay area ... demanding the raids to stop.
