(estacio - san francisco police headquarters) authorities here at sfpd say they have a lot of questions for the linebacker - as he was last seen, leaving the alleged crime scene in his range rover. (estacio reporting) it was here on the 600 block in san francisco where the call came in - a dispatcher repeating to police that a victim was calling in reporting that her ex- boyfriend, , identified aldon smith - had beat her up and bit her in the wrist listen in: "the victim is calling us saying the suspect threw her around the room and bit her wrist. he climbed out of the window and may have gotten into a black range rover." smith - the dispatcher also says was wearing a black 49er sweatshirt as he darted through the window before taking off in his vehicle. san francisco police launched an investigation they also tried to reach out to smith, but say they were unsuccessful. shortly after the incident

saturday night, smith posted to his social media site, long cryptic reply which included this statement, quote you are all wrong." smith who was dropped by the 49ers in 2015 following a dui conviction - then picked up by the raiders shortly thereafter has had a long history of problems including multiple dui arrests and other domestic violence accusations. early monday morning, after this latest case, the raiders announced they were cutting him. smith had not played due to nfl suspensions due to his legal troubles. (vicki) happening now in san police and district officials are taking extra steps to keep kids safe at rooftop elementary school this comes after a person who made threats against the school... was released from jail yesterday. police are not identifying the suspect who made the threats. the do say he was affiliated with the school... but not an employee. parents we spoke to say it's a scary situation but they are happy with how the school is

handling the threats. "we felt good about sending her to school today. she probably couldn't be in a safer place right now with all the extra police presence and security measures. i hope the issue gets resolved soon and we can get back to business as usual here."(vicki) (vicki) access points to the school are being watched closely by police officers. district officials are also offering extra emotional support to students and staff. (grant) last months high school shooting in florida is still creating some fall out here in california.(vicki) a santa clara county supervisor wants to put a stop to the long standing practice of holding gun shows at the county fairgrounds. kron four's rob fladeboe joins us now live with more on the story. rob? (rob live) in the run up to these gun shows one see billboards and other signs promoting the shows all over town. and even if there are just a couple of these shows here each year, one county supervisorsays county property

is no place for them and even if it's just two shows a year, that's two too many. the marquis here at the santa clara county fairgrounds is currently promoting upcoming shows devoted to toys, cats and beer. but just last month, the fairgrounds hosted a "code of the west" gun show, sponsored by the california rifle and pistol association. such shows have been a fixture here for years. this is video from a similar show held in fairfield where guns are bought and sold in strict compliance with federal, state and local laws. but it's the advertising and promotion of such shows that is driving this latest effort to shut them down in santa clara county. in the wake of the parkland, florida high school massacre, the buying and selling of guns, even though legal, is not consistent with promoting the health and well being of residents says supervisorken yeager.ken yeager/santa clara county supervisor "...in advance of the shows there is a lot of advertising, billboards and placards on telephone poles.

and the morning after the shooting i saw this and i thought that county property is not the place for the promotion if guns so it occurred to me that if we ban the gun shows they wouldn't be able to do all of this promtion and selling at the fairgrounds..."yeagar says his proposed ban would have no impact on the buying and selling of guns at government- sponsored gun by back programs like this one, which have also been conductedat the county fairgrounds. 32 years ago.... two young women were found dead on an east bay road, both murdered. there was never even a suspect.(vicki) that is... until last friday... when charges were filed... earlier today kron4's haaziq madyun spoke to the lead investigator about

what led to the cold case arrest. a suspect has been arrested and charged in the double murder cold case of 18-year- old michelle xavier and 20- year-old jennifer duey in fremontsot the cold case dates back to feburary 2nd 1986, that is when around 12:30am a motorcyclist noticed the dead bodies of the two victims here mill creek road...fremont detective jacob blass picks it up from there sotaccording to fremont police investigators the duey and xavier attended a family party earlier that evening and were last seen around 8pm at a convienience store on mowry blvd. that is about 6 miles away from where their bodies were found. fremont police located michelle xavier's car in the mission valley shopping center which is closer to the crime scene but what remains a mystery is where, when and how the murder suspect and the two victims cross pathssot

(catherine) the family says the little girl was with her mother and younger brother...shoppingfor new shoes friday night - when the unimaginable happened.. a large mirror mounted on the side of a rack of shoes suddenly came crashing down on 2-year-old ifrah.... she was rushed to the hospital where she later died. police and the family say the heavy mirror was not properly secured... nearby workers at the strip mall say they heard the crash and then the mother screaming.. payless shoe-source said in a statement that it's cooperating with investigators....butthe child's father says that's no consolation. he says the family is devastated. hospitals is way up....the study says it's nearly doubled in recent years. . from 2004 to 2015 - more than 36-hundred children were hospitalized, many of them needing intensive care. and doctors say the problem continues to escalate...with more deaths. since the end of december 2016 we have seen and amazing alarming increase in accidental overdose deaths. in a separate report we told you about last week.....experts say a lot of children are also being 'given' opioids by their own doctors. something that has many parents concerned. the c-d-c says about 60-thousand kids a year end up in hospitals because of opioid overdoses. grant and vicki? 53-year-old gilberto rodriguez... was found february 13th... in the parking lot of gray whale cove state beach. police say rodriguez had been shot and died at the scene. the beach... is just south of the devil's slide tunnels. ... (vicki) also in the peninsula... part of a large redwood tree falls onto a home... damaging it it happened on baywood avenue in menlo park. officials say the 130-foot tall tree had been struck by lightning last september... but the strong winds from the recent storm caused the tree to fall onto the home. it lodged into a bedroom on the second floor of the home. luckily, nobody was injured. (grant) in the east bay... police are investigating a shooting near interstate 8- 80... near the oakland coliseum. it happened yesterday when a man was walking near the freeway. a good samaritans saw shooting victim... and picked him up. police say a car crash may have been involved... bu the exact location of the shooting is still under investigation. (grant) a man accused of burglarizing a walnut creek gated senior community is

behind bars. saturday night.. police say michael kemper got through its security. they say he drove off a stolen car .... and crashed several miles away. he then tried stealing another car... but police caught him. police say kemper has a criminal history in walnut creek for stealing cars. the rossmoor senior living community houses more than 9-thousand people. "there was a mist of white and we could feel the pellets on our face"survivors say everything grew eerily quiet, then came the calls for help. "people yelling for their wives, their kids." kahlynn huck thought she had lost her husband.then the dazed survivors spotted the tail of a snowboard sticking out of the snow "we just started digging, i mean furiously digging."nat when the evan huck's face emerged,

he was unconscious.his lips were blue.all of a sudden "then he opened up his eyes, and he's looking right at me and he says, 'where's my wife?'"heather turning helped to dig him out. i'm no hero. i just happened to be there at the right time and react well. but so were many other people // i think the man was very lucky. (catherine) (catherine) two other snowboarders were not so lucky.the body of 42=year old wenyu zhang, was found hours before the avalanche. he was reported missing thursday night - as a blizzard sent 150 mile an hour winds whipping across the squaw valley. and in fresno county blake smith suffocated when he fell headfirst into a snowdrift and couldnt get out. grant and vickie? (vicki) hundreds of people march in washington today-- to mark president trump's deadline to scrap daca. the program

protects people known as 'dreamers,' undocumented immigrants who arrived in the u-s as children. but court actions are putting the deadline on hold, giving lawmakers more time to come up with a solution. meanwhile, dreamers are in limbo and afraid. sara sidner reports. these are the faces of dreamers.amritpal is one of 2550 daca recipients born in india. christine is one of 7060 recipients born in south korea. and oscar is one of 544,150 recipients born in mexico.monday was supposed to be doomsday for the program that allows them and nearly 700,000 others to be in the united states legally. president trump set march 5th as the end of the deferred action for childhood arrivals program.president trump:"i have a love for these people and hopefully now congress will be able to help them and do it properly."but they didn't.sara sidner/ reporting: he says he has a heart, but then he ended the program. what does that tell you?" christine/ daca recipient:"he has a heart that beats. but that doesn't mean anything. everyone hearts can beat but can he relate to us?"amritpal/

daca recipient: "it almost feels like, we're just a game, you know like this is just one big chess game for them." according to a lawsuit filed in new york against the department of homeland security, the march 5th memo would have meant 1400 daca recipients would lose their legal status every working day. but the supreme court stayed out of the dispute, which allowed a federal court ruling, that the memo can not be enforced, to stand while the case goes through the courts. it means daca recipients are left in limbo. amritpal has been the family translator, a second mother to her sister, and an income earner all while attending college and dealing with pain. amritpal/ daca recipient: "like people think just because we're here, we have all these benefits and we're you know the leeching off the government, but it's like we don't have medical, like half of my mouth is like rotting." as a daca recipient she is not eligible for government medical insurance programs or federal financial aid for school.amritpal/ daca recipient: "i'm emotional because some days it feels like our sacrifices aren't enough and our trauma isn't

enough."oscar was his high school class president, but then his father got deported. since then he's has had to work up to four jobs at a time to help his mother feed a family of six.oscar / daca recipient:"i worked in a swap meet, the taco stand. i worked in a food restaurant and just about anything to just make sure my family has food on the table."now he manages work and college.sara sidner/ reporting: "when do you sleep?" oscar / daca recipient:"hardly ever." christine's got into the college of her dreams.her father tried to pay for it but that dream eventually died with no financial aid. christine/ daca recipient:"he wanted me to be there. every time i see him write the amounts on the check, just seeing that just i just couldn't anymore."at 25 she now works at the korean resource center, hoping to make life better for other immigrants like her.she says politicians have failed them. christine/ daca recipient: "it's quite tiring. exhausting to know that people are playing with your life." (vicki) facebook is facing backlash tonight-- after reportedly asking users to fill out a survey about pedophiles. the survey was posted at the top of some users homepage yesterday. the report says it asked

people if pedophiles should be allowed to ask for sexual pictures from underage girls. the question was aimed towards improving facbook's policies... and was asking for suggestions on how to handle an incident in which a man asks a 14-year-old girl for inappropriate pictures. facebook responded saying the survey was a mistake.. and it has been taken down. (vicki) a judge in san francisco is further investigating whether an ingredient in the weed killer "roundup" can cause cancer. this comes after a federal judge blocked the state from requiring the product come with a warning label. today-- a scientist testified that she believes the active ingredient in roundup can in fact cause cancer. the san francisco judge will hear from experts throughout the week to help decide if there is valid evidence to support the claim that roundup can cause cancer. the company that makes the weed killer denies the claims-- saying hundreds of studies have proven it is safe. (catherine) and i'm catherine heenan in for pam moore. the san francisco police department is looking for smith --- saying they want to question him about what happened over the weekend. kron 4's terisa estacio is live in san francisco.. terisa, bring us up to speed on this investigation. . . here at sfpd say they have a lot of questions for the defensive end - as he was last seen, leaving the alleged crime scene in his range rover.(estacio reporting) it was here on the 600 block in san francisco where the call came in - a dispatcher repeating to police that a

victim was calling in reporting that her ex- boyfriend, , identified aldon smith - had beat her up and bit her in the wrist listen in:"the victim is calling us saying the suspect threw her around the room and bit her wrist. he climbed out of the window and may have gotten into a black range rover."smith - the dispatcher also says was wearing a black 49er sweatshirt as he darted through the window before taking off in his vehicle.san francisco police launched an investigation they also tried to reach out to smith, but say they were unsuccessful. shortly after the incident saturday night, smith posted to his social media site, long cryptic reply which included this statement, quote you are all wrong." smith who was dropped by the 49ers in 2015 following a dui conviction - then picked up by the raiders shortly thereafter has had a long history of .

(grant) aldon smith's high profile run-in's with the law have involved charges of drunk driving...weapons posession, and even an alleged bomb threat at an airport. the 49ers select aldon smith, defensive end, missouri... smith is a surprise draft pick, but it looks like a good one. he has a great first year: 14 sacks as rookie linebacker, the best in the nfl in 2011. the 49ers make their first postseason appearance in a decade... a storybook season falling just short the giants are going to the super bowl smith heads to miami, where he is arrested on suspision of dui. the charge was later reduced to reckless driving five months later: a now infamous party at his home in the san jose hills. police seized three automatic rifles. smith was later charged with possessing illegal assault

weapons. at the same time those charges were filed in 2013, smith was also charged with d-u-i. police say he crashed his ford pickup into a san jose home while under the influence, this is a problem i''ve got to get fixed smith agrees to enter rehab and misses five games in the 2013 season. he later pleads no contest to weapons charges and d-u-i. he was sentenced to 11 days in jail and three years probation. before that -- aldon smith makes headlines again - arrested at l-a-x... accused of making a false bomb threat during a random security screening. the l-a city attorney later declined to press charges in august of 2014 the nfl announces aldon smith will be suspended for nine games to start the season. one year later: smith is arrested on charges of d-u-i, hit-and-run and vandalism. just hours after he bailed out of jail, the 49er''s dropped him for their roster.

three people are injured after a stabbing on a greyhound bus... and it was headed for oakland. the stabbing happened this afternoon near visalia. police say the suspect was restrained by the bus driver and another passenger. a man on the bus says the suspect stabbed a woman who was holding her child. there is not yet word on how severe injuries were. the suspect was arrested. (catherine) 32 years ago.... two young women were found murdered on an east bay road... there was never even a suspect identified.. (steve) that is... until last friday... when charges were filed... people who live in the are tell kron4's haaziq madyun they never thought this day would come a suspect has been charged in the double murders of 18- year-old michelle xavier and 20-year-old jennifer duey in fremont. sotdetective jacob blass/fremont police department: "we have a david emery misch who is going to be our main suspect in this case...">the cold case dates back to february 2nd 1986. that is when around 12:30am a motorcyclist noticed the dead bodies of the two victims here mill creek road. it has been 32 years but people in this

quiet part of town remember it like it was yesterdaysot sot fremont police detective credits closing the case to existing evidence collected since david misch became a person of interest back in early 2000sot fremont police say there appears to be no prior connection between the suspect and the two victims. 57-year-old david misch is currently serving time in a california state prison for a 1989 murder of a woman in alameda county...in fremont now he is facing two additional murder chargessot in fremont haaziq madyun kron4news

(catherine) a caltrain hit and killed a person in san francisco this morning... marking the transit agency's second fatality of 2018. it happened just before eight a-m... south of the 22nd street station. caltrain officials say the person had been trespassing on the tracks. no one on the train was hurt... the incident caused major delays for commuters. the tracks were re-opened after about an hour. no details have been made public yet on the person who was killed. (steve) a five-year-old who died in a car crash last week has been identified. her name is layloni westbrook... the accident happened just outside concord on kirker pass road near hess road. police found the car had gone off the roadway and overturned down an embankment. layloni was unresponsive at the scene and later died at the hospital. c-h-p

officials say safety seats "were not used properly or at all" in the car. alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in the crash. (catherine) new at 6. a monterey county middle school went on lockdown today - after a student was stabbed in the chest. the 12-year- old student at north monterey county middle school was flown to a nearby hospital with life- threatening injuries. police said the accused attacker is also 12. it's unclear what led up to the incident, but police said it happened before class. the suspect was taken into custody and is now facing attempted murder charges. no other injuries were reported.
