(vicki) and i'm vicki liviakis. the suit targets sanctuary policies that prohibit some cooperation with federal immigration enforcement. today sessions slammed officials who he accused of promoting open borders. as you heard... he singled out oakland's mayor, who recently warned people ahead of federal immigration crackdowns. some immigration officials say the move enabled hundreds of criminals to evade authorities. sessions outlined the lawsuit during a speech in sacramento. jeff sessions / u.s. attorney general: "the department filed a suit against the state of california to invalidate these unjust laws and to immediately freeze their effect. federal agents must be able to do the job that congress directed them to do."(vicki) sessions pointed to three

state immigration laws he says are unconstitutional. those laws restrict police from voluntarily giving federal agents information about undocumented immigrants.... prohibit private companies from voluntarily cooperating with ice... and require the state to inspect federal immigration detention facilities (grant) and sessions was greeted with protestors today. this is video of the demonstrators outside of the kimpton sawyer hotel in sacramento... where sessions was speaking during the annual law enforcement legislative day. the demonstrations were mostly peaceful. (grant) it didn't take long for california's governor and attorney general to fire back against the lawsuit today... nats of gunfire. (grant) shots ring out in san francisco after a deadly police shooting. officers opened fire after stopping a car that they say... had three robbery suspects in it. (vicki) the shooting happened around 10:30 last night in the mission disctrict... on capp street... between 21st and 22nd street. as kron4's haaziq madyun reports... several witnesses recorded portions of the incident on their cellphones... .. this man is showing me video of a deadly police shooting that he witnessed in san franciscosotit happened 10:36pm tuesday on capp street near 20th in san francisco's mission district. sf police investigators say that is where officers where flagged down by two victims of an armed robbery. the victims told the officers the suspects

were drving a black honda civic. police spotted that vehicle on capp street a block away. the male driver obeyed the command to get out of the vehicle. a female passenger eventually got out of the car, but this witnessed who asked not to reveal his identity, says there was a third person holding a gun in the trunk of the vehicle who did not get out of the car. in fact the witnesses says he saw the man in the truck fire a weaponsot friends and family members tell kron4 the person who was killed in the shooting was jesus adolfo delgado of san franciscosotsan francisco police investigators say they found a handgun in the trunk of the vehicle. among the agencies conducting independent investigations into this officer involved shooting are sfpd's homicide division and the san francisco district attorney's office independent investigations bureau...in san francisco haaziq madyun kron4news

(vicki) also new tonight at five. a man is behind bars ...accused of exposing himself to a 16-year-old girl in san mateo, it happened around five p.m. yesterday...on monte diablo avenue and amphlett boulevard.

there police say a 16-year- old girl was walking...when a man started exposing himself to her. the victim contacted police...and once at the scene ...officers located christian morales. the 35-year-old suspect...is a registered sex offender. morales was arrested and booked into jail on suspicion of indecent exposure. (vicki) five-months have past since a 37-year-old woman from danville was found dead in an east bay home near the town of byron.(grant) this week, the family of the victim announced a 10-thousand dollar reward for information that helps solve this murder. today, kron four's philippe djegal spoke with the victim's uncle... who owns the home where the woman was found. (philippe) emily courchesne (core-shayne) was alone inside this home... house sitting for her uncle and his family who were on vacation at the time... when her uncle believes she was confronted by armed home invaders.al courchesne/vic tim's uncle- "emily was a totally innocent bystander to what we think was just a

robbery." the home is located off marsh creek road in unincorporated contra costa county near byron. al says he had a close relationship with his 37-year-old niece... he says emily was shot to death -- after he thinks the suspects panicked.al courchesne/victim's uncle- "we're almost certain that the killers, they knew we were on vacation -- that they didn't know that emily was house sitting there. uh, but they knew we were away, and that's, they're intent was to find something of value, thinking that nobody was home." emily's body was discovered on the morning of friday october 6th of last year. the contra costa county sheriff's office believes that she was killed some time between wednesday evening and thursday morning of that week.al courchesne/victim's uncle- "everybody who knows about this is horrified by it. it's just so -- it's just a senseless act." the courchesne (core-shayne) family is putting up the 10-thousand dollar reward money for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in this case.al courchesne/victim's uncle- "give yourself up -- do the right thing." and, to this day, al courchesne (core-shayne) says it doesn't appear any items were stolen from the house during the course of the murder. in contra costa county, philippe djegal, kron four news.

(grant) san francisco police need your help catching a hit and run driver. surveillance video shows the crash. you can see what appears to be a 90's model chevy tahoe or suburban crashing into a car so hard that that little car is pushed under the s-u-v in front of it. this was late monday this was late monday night in glen park. you can see the s-u-v resting on a honda civic. police do not have a description of the hit and run driver. (grant) at least a dozen businesses in san jose have had their windows smashed. now police are trying to find the vandals. some of the vandalism is happening to businesses along alum rock avenue near the highway 101

onramp. the windows at applebees were smashed last friday. then on monday night the restaurant was targeted again. people at the restaurant say they heard pellets hit the windows. in total, police are investigating 12 incidents. police think b-b guns were used to break the windows. (vicki) for your health tonight... a new federal report says opioid overdoses jumped 30 percent last year. we first told you the new information last night on the kron4 news at five. and recently... three men died in san francisco after they reportedly overdosed on fentanyl. the opioid epidemic is becoming more widespread across the country... and in the bay area. joining us tonight to talk about the issue in san francisco... and what is being one to prevent it... is doctor phillip coffin from the department of public health. emergency rooms saw a big jump in

overdoses from opioids last year - the latest evidence the nation's drug crisis is getting worse.a government

report released tuesday shows overdoses from opioids increased 30 percent late last summer, compared to the same three-month period in 2016. the biggest jumps were in the midwest and in cities, but increases occurred nationwide. the report did not differentiate between prescription pain pills, heroin, fentanyl and other opioids.the centers for disease control and prevention recently started using a new system to track er overdoses and found the rate of opioid overdoses rose from 14 to 18 per 100,000 er visits over a year.almost all those overdoses were not fatal. opioids were involved in two-thirds of all overdose deaths in 2016. (grant) students in santa rosa returned to school today after a threat sent them home yesterday. (vicki) this is the latest in a series of school threats at bay area schools. kron 4's lydia pantazes reports. students are back in class today after a lockdown yesterday.the threat was found just after 2 p.m. inside willowside middle school. investigators say the graffiti was found in the boys' bathroom and threatened to kill everyone.all students were placed on lock down in

sotfriends and family of 19-year-old jesus adolfo delgado are questioning the circumstances leading to him being shot and killed by san francisco police here on capp street tuesday nightsan francisco police investigators say that delgado was one of three suspects allegedly involved in an armed robbery on capp street. when officers stopped their vehicle the male driver and female passenger obeyed commands to exit the vehicle. however investigators say a third person in the trunk of the vehicle did not obey the commands to get out of the car...shots were fired. delgado died at the scenesot san francisco police say they did find a gun in the trunk of the vehicle. among the agencies conducting independent investigations into this officer involved shooting are sfpd's homicide division and the san francisco district attorney's office independent investigations bureau...in san francisco haaziq madyun kron4news

(philippe) not a day goes by without al courchesne (core-shayne) thinking about his 37-year-old niece, emily. al courchesne/victim's uncle- "we're still missing emily. she, she worked for me. i knew her since the day se was born. you know, she was precious to us." last year, on october 6th... emily was found dead inside al's home in unincorporated contra costa county near byron. he lives off marsh creek road. al says emily lived in danville, but was house sitting for him at the time, while his family was on vacation. he believes the home invaders thought the

(vicki) in the north bay... willowside middle school resumed class today... after a threat was found in a boy's bathroom. the graffiti was discovered yesterday around two pm. authorities say it threatened to kill everyone. the school was put on lock down while parents were called to pick up their children. we spoke to one parent who is upset about the ongoing threats.(james macmillan/parent): "angry, angry that the kids don't seem to understand you know how important this is and that it's such a bad decision to say something like that, to write something on the walls with everything that's going on right now, it's just made me angry that someone would still want to do something like that." authorities say this is the second incident of graffiti in this bathroom. the sheriff's department received a call earlier that day when staff found vague writing. authorities say that writing did not warrant a response. the incident remains under investigation. possession of drugs and a gun. police say the arrests stemmed from a police auto abatement operation. authorities say during the operation, police stopped the men for a traffic violation. police say when officers searched the car they found the gun, burglary tools and narcotics. all three were arrested and book into jail. thousand meals a week to government employees and visitors alike. marin county officials say the cafe is expected to reopen friday. (steve) a fire broke out this afternoon in san francisco. the fire department tweeted this video of the residential fire on 26th street and dolores. officials say the fire started around noon and was isolated to a two story building. it was quickly contained with no injures reported. firefighters were able to rescue a dog from the residence. the cause of the fire is currently under investigation. (vicki) the sonoma county sheriff's office say two suspects were found hiding underneath a santa rosa home early this morning. you can see the hole the police cut out to get to the suspects. officials say steven molina of petaluma and jessica ybarra of santa rosa were hiding in the home's crawl space. both were wanted for outstanding warrants. ybarra peacefully surrendered but molina threatened to kill the officers or himself if they came down to get him. a swat team and hostage negotiators were called in and molina was arrested an hour later. he now faces threatening an officer charges.
