turn lane only (i'm sorry i didn't know)he did what many other drivers are doing . and if caught it could have a double impact on their wallets allow me to explain this is mission street at van ness in san francisco and on mission painted on the ground are two huge arrows signifying u-turn only for drivers in the two left lanes in fact up above is this black and white sign also alerting drivers that the u-turn is required oh yea and there is also an orange construction sign reading u turn only and this sign is the crux of the story .. you see, orange signage indicates you are in a construction zone (traffic sounds) so every driver, in the dedicated turn lane who decides to ignore the signs and tries to merge into traffic is setting themselves up for a ticket which is normally around 236 dollars but could jump up to over 350 dollars if the officers marks the double fine box on the ticket .and it comes with one point on your driving record when drivers ignore the u turn only sign and go straight, it has a ripple effect, so the drivers follow the rule often get stuck in the intersection
4:42 am
with nowhere to go like this driver who has to back up because he is about to hit an onslaught of cross traffic . and these two drivers . who were also stuck in the middle of the intersection(sound of traffic)i would say these two but the truth is just they basically didn't wait for the intersection to be clear before trying to cross . also it creates gridlock and you often end up blocking the crosswalk keep in mind this is a busy intersection, and you never know who you might see rolling against traffic or ignoring the red light . not to mention there are a lot of distracted drivers whether they are eating a bowl of something . or texting away on your phone as long as you are in a construction zone every traffic violation could be enhanced. in san francisco stanley roberts kron 4 news (robin) coming up in the kron 4 morning news ... we'll tell you why a coffee shop in the east bay is refusing to serve police officers...
