4:22 am
jessica trimble is veterinarian with fuzzy pet health. she actually specializes in pet travel. she says that when it comes to keeping animals safe on an airplane, the first step is getting to know your pet's specific needs.sotyour decision about your pet's travel should be based on their age, their breed, their health condition. those all things that you should talk to you vet about.for instance, small dogs often have trouble breathing and that could be a problem if they are in a crate in a cramped airplane cabin.sot are small squishy faced dogs tend to have respiratory issues, so we need to take that into account when we make travel plans. a lot of the problems that dogs are having is when they don't get proper air flow under a seat. it's also important to prepare your pet for the rigors of flying. sotso that they are used to being in a crate, working on making sure they are used to loud engine noises or unusual movements are really critical as having that health check. it's also better to have your pet in the cabin as opposed to in the plane's cargo hold.sot flying in a cargo hold, as
4:23 am
opposed to the cabin tends to be more dangerous because of temperature change, pressure changes and you don't know how the people throwing the luggage in will handle your pet's carrier. and finally dr trimble says that it's important to remember that each airline has it own set of rules for traveling with pets, the key is to know what your pet can tolerate.sotyou should know your pet and their limitations. if an airline is trying to convince you to do something that is unsafe for you pet you should standup for yourself and say you know what based on my pets health conditions maybe i should schedule with a different airline or find another mode of travel. é(robin) still ahead on the kron four morning news... it was once a center where a lot of good took place. we tell you where the future of the yountville veteran's home stands.... after 3 of its employees were killed inside.
