sent out a warning asking those who live near hesperian boulevard, washington avenue, upton avenue.. and halcyon drive to stay inside. that person is belived to be armed. there are no details yet on where that shooting started. fremont p-d and san leandro p-d are working together to catch the criminal. ( robin )the c-h-p is on the hunt for the driver responsible for running into a school bus, and then taking off.kron 4's ali reid reports on that crash. it was very scary for the children on board that school bus.according to c-h-p, a car in front of the bus was going around 40 mph, and started slowing down with traffic.just before coming to a complete stop, the the bus .... ran into the car.and the car behind the bus hit the bus' bumper.all 3 vehicles pulled over to the right shoulder. this was on northbound 101, near the east heading overcrossing.the driver in the 3rd vehicle fled the scene before getting out.thankfully

a quick thinking student snapped a photo of her car and the license plate number ... according to c-h-p it's a 2004 ford taurus with moderate front end damage ..... license plate number 8-b-e-j-9-1-6the driver is described as an elderly white woman.four students reported minor injuries .... two were taken to the hospital.anyone with information on this accident is urged to call c-h-p reporting live in san jose ... ali reid ... kron 4 news. ( robin )new this morning... students at martinez junior high school will not have class... after a threatening message was written on a bathroom wall. the message is said to be about a potential shooting. right now the school district is working closely with investigators to find out who wrote the message. all activites at the junior high have been postponed as well. after two people were pulled from lake merritt early thursday morning. 9-1-1 calls brought first responders to lakeshore drive just after four a-m. witnesses say an altercation could be heard outside between a man and a woman. they believed someone was drowning and needed assistance. on arrival... crews could see one man struggling in the lake. officer felicia aisthorpe//oakland police dept.: "officers responded to the scene. and observed one mail in the water, for officers jumped in the lake merritt to assist the subject, they pulled him out of the lake they started cpr on the subject and he was transported to highland hospital where unfortunately he was pronounced."( robin ) that man was identified as michael grace of oakland. just after six o'clock thursday officials located the body of oakland resident... tayana johnson... 10 feet under water, 50 feet from shore. investigators are treating johnson's death as a homicide after it was revealed that the two were in a relationship. johnson's body showed signs

of physical injuries. ( robin ) police arrested a san jose state student for an alleged sex assault. and now they are looking for more possible victims. luis venegas is in jail on several charges including sexual battery. the 4th-year student had been living in a campus village - known as 'c-v-a' to students. an investigation began on march 3rd when a victim contacted university police. that led to police learning of two more victims, and they say, there might be even more victims. anyone with information is asked to contact san jose state university police. ( robin )in the north bay.... family and colleagues are mourning the death of a marin county sheriff's deputy. 24-year old ryan zirkle was killed thursday morning in a car crash... as he was responding to a 9-1-1 call. kron four's terisa estacio has that story. really excelled in athletics, varsity, star quarterback" san marin asst principal mike casper on ryan zirkle, the marin county sheriffs deputy who died tragically early thursday morning. marin county sheriff robert doyle. "as you can imagine this is a sad day, ryan zirkle was 24 years old, his 25 birthday, 11 days away." the deputy was in his patrol early this morning when he crashed into a tree... he had been responding to a 911 call out in point reyes where he was based. sheriff doyle. a 911 caller called in and said they heard a crash. since communications had not heard from him they sent his partner out and saw the crash, and found ryan. sheriff doyle says first responders did all they could. sheriff doyle. it took 35 minutes to get him out, hospital, they did all they could but he did not survive. while deputies are in mourning... we are learning

much more about ryan zirkle. he was engaged to be married, had recently bought a home in petaluma with his fiance... he grew up in novato. mark whitburn. i was his baseball coach. mark whitburn told me that he once thought ryan was messing around in class, because he smiled so much, but soon realized, ryan was just that guy, always so happy. whitburn. he was just the best. kind, nice. an investigation into the crash is being conducted by the california highway patrol. there is no word right now on a service. he is survived by his mother, dad two brothers, fiance and many other family and friends. in novato, terisa estacio, kron4 news, ( robin ) police in the south bay are looking for a thief who stole one-thousand dollars worth of electronics. this is the man they are looking for. it

happened at a target in morgan hill.if you recognize this man... police are asking that you contact them... so they can put a name to a face.... and catch this criminal. ( robin )santa clara county police are looking for this man. police say he stole a piece of art from a popular hospital in san jose. this is the stolen picture... it is said to be worth 16- thousand dollars. it is normally found in the new sobrato building, at valley medical center. police are asking for help identifying the suspect. ( robin )the vallejo fire department is facing serious understaffing problems. the problem is leading to longer wait times for residents in emergencies. reporter karma dickerson talked to a firefighter... about the issues they face on a daily basis. early sunday morning - flames poured from a commercial building in vallejo...juan - who manages the building... says after he called 9-1-1 it took ten to fifteen terrifying

minutes for firefighters to arrive... sot - juan i start coughing, coughing, coughing and i was calling the fire department...it's a scene, vallejo firefighters say... that plays out over and over across the city.the department stretched thin... forced to call on neighboring departments for help.on sunday - fairfield and benicia fire departments helped battle the commercial structure fire... potentially taking away resources from the neighboring cities.sot - anthony shair-ali, vallejo fire departmentwe would like to let citizens know we are understaffed and we can only do it with so many people and we can only do it for so long. and the fatigue factor begins to weigh in. vallejo firefighter anthony shair-ali says staffing levels in the department are so low... and the calls for help are so high... theyúre being forced to work ámandatory overtime... sot- aliwe are employed by the city but we work for the citizens and the vallejo firefighters have a great deal of pride and ownership in the level of service we provide to the citizens.ten years ago.... vallejo had eight fire stations.today... they have six.this fire station in vallejo's glen cove neighborhood is one of two that was shuttered after the

( robin )in florida... four people are dead and ten others are injured... following a pedestrian bridge collapse. the walkway had only been in place for a couple of days. it was supposed to be completed over the next few months. natasha chen has more on this developing story. --reporter pkg-as follows--a team of investigators from the ntsb is on scene as well as staff from the occupational safety and health administration. they're going to be working all night. meanwhile we're seeing people come to this intersection lighting candles here remembering that this was a terrifying moment especially for those where were trapped under the bridge in their cars and they're remembering at least four people who died toady.a horrifying sight at florida international university --a pedestrian walkway collapsed thursday afternoon.isabella carrasco / fiu student: "the cars were completely crushed underone person was pulled out of the car and they started performing cpr right on the street."authorities responded to the scene shortly before 2

( robin )some couples ( robin ) some couples who have been planning way ahead to have a family by freezing eggs and embryos may now be out of luck. a storage problem at a san francisco clinic has now lead to lawsuit. kron 4's dan kerman has the story clients of san francisco's pacific fertility center have

filed a class action lawsuit for breach of contract negligence and conversion due to the improper storage of eggs and embryossot tracey cowan/ attorney 11-20these eggs and embroys the clients consider them their future childrenearlier this month attorneys say pacific fertility center clients received this email saying "a single piece of equipment lost liquid nitrogen for a brief period of time. your tissue was stored in the affected tank and may have been impacted.sotif you can imagine to learn overnight just because processes weren't followed or there was an equipment failure of some kind that your dreams of becoming a parent have been wiped out, it is a devastating lossattorneys say the only way to know the viability of some 2000 eggs and embryos is to thaw them if viable they must be used immediately, if not, some prospective parents can't start over either because they are too old or because they have medical issuessotwhat we want more than anything else is for this to never happen againon monday a class action

lawsuit was filed against this cleveland clinic over the destruction of 2000 eggs and embryos . as for pacific fertility center , it's housed on the 5th floor of this francisco street office building. we reached out to them for comment, but did not hear backstandup dan kerman/sf 133-143attorneys say they are finding improper storage of eggs and embryos is a widespread problem, so in addition to the lawsuit they are also reaching out to lawmakers to pass legislation to regulate the industry. industry. ( robin ) the alameda county sheriff's office was back in federal court thursday. back in january... six former and current women inmates... some who were pregnant... filed a lawsuit alleging abuse... and forcing women to agree to abortions. kron four's philippe djegal reports.

(philippe) a jury-trial could happen as early as may. this after a federal judge tabled the plaintiff's motion for a preliminary injunction -- asking for more medical information. the plaintiff's wanted to have the remaining pregnant women at the santa rita jail in dublin transferred to more comfortable conditions. debbie johnston has taken interest in this case... after her 22-year-old daughter was arrested earlier this month and booked into santa rita. her daughter is not part of the lawsuit now... but could be added soon.... debbie says in recent weeks, her daughter has complained about how she's been treated behind bars. she's three- months pregnant.debbe johnston/mother- "she's terrified. she thinks they're going to make her lose her baby." the lawsuit was filed by six former and current women inmates. four of them were pregnant. two of them had miscarriages. they allege that the alameda county jail is not safe for pregnant women. among the claims, it accuses alameda county sheriff's deputies, who run the facility... of making pregnant women agree to

abortions. and, not providing proper nutrition or clothing.debbe johnston/mothe r- "you can punish people -- i get that. um, but you can't treat them like animals and you can't treat them with such lack of humanity and lack of caring just because they happen to be in jail and pregnant." the alameda county sheriff's office denies the allegations... and, says it's confident it's attorney's will prove their case in court. in san francisco, philippe djegal, kron four news. ( darya ) breaking international news.... seven u-s service members were killed in a helicopter crash in western iraq. a short time ago, the penatgon said there were no survivors in the crash. a second american helicopter flying alongside did not report seeing signs of hostile fire when the

helicopter went down. the u-s military says the helicopter was ánot on a combat mission at the time. ( darya ) in the east bay... a group of thieves leads police on a chase from castro valley to oakland. that chase ended with a crash. here is a picture from the crash scene. police say 4 people tried to grab a woman's purse in castro valley. during the police chase... officers discovered that the car they thieves were in was stolen. you can see from this picture that the crash ended when they crashed the car through a fence and into a garage in oakland. all 4 people were arrested. ( james ) the c-h-p is on the hunt for the driver responsible for crashing into a school bus in san jose... and taking off. at least 4 students were hurt. the c-h-p says the bus rear-ended the car in front it on highway 101. and was then hit from behind by another car. all three drivers then started to pull over to the right shoulder. but the driver who rear-ended the bus... decided to take off instead. that's when a quick thinking student snapped a photo of the woman's car and the license

( darya ) a big story this morning.. california high school in san ramon sent a letter out to parents saying they found hate speech graffiti in the bathrooms yesterday. one was anti-semitic... a second was hateful towards african americans... and the third threatened violence. the school took extra precausion and had law enforcement on campus. ( darya ) and threatening graffiti was also found at james logan high school in union city. this is a picture of the graffiti. it was found in a bathroom it says that somebody is going to shoot up the school. the school was briefly locked down after the graffiti was found. the school says they do not believe that the threat is credible and that school will resume as normal today. ( james ) classes are canceled at martinez junior high school... after a threatening message was written on a bathroom wall. the school district says someone threatened to shoot up the school. the district says it is working with police

( james ) the s-f-p-d officer once known as the "hot cop of the castro" has been found guilty of felony hit and run. christopher kohrs had been accused of hitting two people in north beach -- back in 2015 and then leaving the scene. a passenger testified that kohrs was the designated driver that night and appeared to be sober at the time. but did not react fast enough. kohrs turned himself in later that day. one victim suffered has a broken jaw, a fractured ankle, and an injured shoulder. the second victim suffered a broken nose, a broken eye socket, a broken neck, a brain hemorrhage, a spinal fracture and memory impairment. kohrs is scheduled to be sentenced on april fourth. ( darya ) san francisco police say two people were hurt during a home invasion. it happened in the oceanview neighborhood near 280.

police say three armed men broke into the apartment around 11 o'clock wednesday night and held three people at gunpoint. two of the victims were pistol-whipped during the robbery. the thieves ran off with cellphones... wallets... shoes and a safe. ( darya ) police are looking a woman seen in this new video. officers say the woman used stolen credit cards to make several purchases at santa rosa stores... including target. ( darya ) in the east bay... we're learning more about the deaths of two people.. who were pulled from lake merritt. we first brought this story yesterday morning as breaking news. crews pulled out michael grace and tayana michael grace pulled out michael grace and tayana johnson. witnessses say they heard a man and woman arguing around 4 in the morning. when authorities got to the scene... they saw grace struggling in the water. officers jumped in the water... pulled him out and started c-p-r. but grace died. just after 6... johnson's body was found in the water. her death is being treated as a homicide. police say her body showed signs of physical injuries. grace's death is being investigated as accidental.

( darya ) the autopsy results have been released in the deadly hostage standoff in yountville. officials say all three victims died all three victims died instantly ... from gunshot wounds to the head. one of the victims was pregnant. the gunman albert wong died of a self - inflicted gunshot wound. a 'celebration of life' for is planned for the victims on monday. the event will take place at 6- p-m at the lincoln theater, in the napa valley performing arts center ... on the veterans home campus in yountville. morning... at least six people are dead after a pedestrian bridge collapsed near florida international university in miami. the national transportation safety board is on the scene and in the very early stages of investigating the deadly bridge collapse. university officials say it was built to provide a safe way to cross the busy intersection. now...the safety of that 14 point 2 million dollar project is being questioned. ( darya ) some bay area couples who have decided to freeze eggs and embryos may now be out of luck. a storage problem at a san francisco clinic has now lead to lawsuit. clients of san francisco's pacific fertility center have filed a class action lawsuit for breach of contract and negligence over the improper storage of eggs and embryos. earlier this month pacific fertility center clients received an email saying that an equipment problem may have affected their embryos.

( darya ) two state legislators are looking to cut marijuana taxes... to keep customers buying pot álegally. recreational marijuana has been legal for about three- months. but some lawmakers are worried that state taxes are driving customers to the black market. growers and sellers have also been complaining. right now... the state imposes a 15- percent excise tax. that's on top of separate taxes for cultivation and the regular state taxes. ( darya ) california high school in san ramon sent a letter out to parents saying they found hate speech graffiti in the bathrooms yesterday. one was anti-semitic... a second was hateful towards african americans... and the third threatened violence. the school took extra precausion and had law enforcement on campus. ( darya ) and threatening graffiti was also found at james logan high school in union city. this is a picture of the graffiti. it was found in a bathroom it says that somebody is going to shoot up the school. the school was briefly locked down after the graffiti was found. the school says they do not believe that the threat is credible and that school will resume as normal today. ( james ) classes are canceled at martinez junior high school... after a threatening message was written on a bathroom wall. the school district says someone threatened to shoot up

( james ) the s-f-p-d officer once known as the "hot cop of the castro" has been found guilty of felony hit and run. christopher kohrs had been accused of hitting two people in north beach -- back in 2015 and then leaving the scene. a passenger testified that kohrs was the designated driver that night and appeared to be sober at the time. but did not react fast enough. kohrs turned himself in later that day.the two victims suffered major injuries. kohrs is scheduled to be sentenced on april fourth. ( darya ) san francisco police say two people were hurt during a home invasion. it happened in the oceanview neighborhood near 280. police say three armed men broke into the apartment around 11 o'clock wednesday night and held three people at gunpoint. two of the
