(grant) and i'm grant lodes. the memorial service will begin in an hour. kron 4's spencer blake is live in yountville tonight-- as friends, family, and community members are now arriving. spencer? the doors officially opened about a half hour ago, but people have been arriving since as early as three o'clock. the lincoln theater seats about 12-hundred people, and organizers are expecting all those seats to be full as they honor doctor jennifer gray golick, christine loeber, and doctor jennifer gonzales shushureba.people are still making their way in.service doesn't start for about another hour.some of the people i met here outside are veterans representing various posts of the american legion. they collaborated to form a color guard to greet mourners and dignitaries as they arrive to the theater. (vicki) governor brown issued a proclamation today ahead of the memorial service. he is declaring today as a day of remembrance of the yountville shooting. governor brown has also ordered flags to be flown at half-staff over the state capitiol. in the proclamation today... governor brown said "we honor these women for their dedication and service, for their bravery in the face of terror, for the compassion they brought to veterans and their communities and for the joy and love they shared with their families and loved ones. the loss to the entire community is immeasurable." this massive 4 alarm fire in san francisco's north beach...are still coming to grips with the loss. kron4's maureen kelly was back out at the scene today... where she talked to the business owners and employees who are wondering what their next steps will be. i'm pretty sad about it primitivo martinez came back where his job used to be to take pictures of the burned out shell.the building on the corner of union and columbus that housed the restaurant he worked in and five other storefronts has been red tagged....and considerd unsafe....which means for now primitivo and many other people are out of work.my boss just came try to get inside and went into the basement water was up to her knees so everything is lost in the basement i'm pretty sure everything is lost up here too the building also has 28 units upstairs but they were empty after another fire there several years ago. it's weird because i think it was under construction, they said it was under construction this time to for the owner of coit liquors....it's the second time he's has to start over.he plans to work out of his brother and sister in law's cafe up the street. no one can go in at the time so until we can do that then we can start putting some stuff into the storethe fire department spokesperson says the cause is

still under investigation.the four alarm fire ripped thru the building starting a little after 730 saturday night and many st patrick's day revelers forced to evacuation. there were no injuries....and while this building is gutted....the department spokesman says their aggressive tactics keep the fire from spreading to the other buildings in this densely packed neighborhood.. ..8 residents have been displaced for now from 575 columbus which has been yellow tagged due to water damage but the city is working to repopulate that building.a spokesperson for the city's building department says the building is so unsafe inspectors could not get inside so the full extent of the damage is unknown...you can see the street is still being blocked off here just in case.the owners are on notice to hire an engineer to help them determine what next steps need to be taken to secure the site. maureen kelly kron4 news

(grant) and kron four just spoke to fire investigators. they say the believe that fire was accidental. (vicki) other news we are following tonight... uber is pulling self-driving cars from the road - after a pedestrian was hit andkilled by an autonomous car in arizona..(grant) catherine heenan has more on the incident - which could raise new questionson regulations.... (catherine) a woman was walking alongside her bike last night - outside the crosswalk - when she was hit and killed by a self-driving car operated by uber... it happened around 10-pm in tempe, arizona - and appears to be the first known death of a pedestrian hit by an autonomous car on a public road. there was a human safety driver at the wheel when it happened... uber has now suspended testing of its self-driving cars not only in tempe....but

here in san francisco - its headquarters. also pittsburgh and toronto. police in tempe today were asked if there are any preliminary findings on who's at fault... sgt. elcock - we hate to draw conclusion. there's no conclusion. that will come after the investigation. but again, the vehicle was traveling northbound and the pedestrian was outside the crosswalk. so it was mid-block. and as soon as she entered traffic she was hit that was traveling northbound. northbound. just this month in california - the state said that in april it would start allowing companies to test autonomous vehicles without anyone behind the wheel. that's something arizona was already doing. but this incident could force some changes. uber meantime has released a statement...saying "out hearts go out to the victim's family." and adding that the company is fully cooperating with local authorities in their investigation.

tonight - uber has cancelled a show-and-tell of its self- driving cars, which was planned for this thursday in tempe. grant and vicki? (grant) six people are behind bars in connection with a high-end snatch and grab robbery in san francisco. and tonight-- the hunt is on for three other people. police have released pictures of who they're looking for right now. investigators say the thieves ran into a high-end fashion store at san francisco's union square last month. they're not saying which store. but about 50-thousand-dollars worth of handbags were stolen. within seconds -- nine suspects snatched more than 20 handbags and wallets from the display area. one of the suspects police are looking for has been identified as 21- year-old keyonna kyer. and here are pictures of the suspects who police arrested. three of them are juveniles-- and have not been identified. they are now facing felony charges. north bay is put on lockdown this morning after threatening graffiti is found in the bathroom. it happened at harmony elementary school and salmon creek school in occidental. both schools are on the same campus for pre- k through 8th graders. police were called to the campus when the graffiti was found. deputies say everyone is safe at this time and the lockdown was lifted students were sent home early. saturday night near willow avenue. police say the shooting appears to be a case of road rage. they say the woman's injuries are minor-- but the young girl suffered significant injuries. two other people were in the car at the time of the shooting but they were not injured. police have not released a detailed description of the shooter. (grant) police are also looking for the person who shot and killed a man while driving on mission boulevard in hayward. it happened early yesterday morning in the cherry-land community of hayward... outside of a hookah lounge. police say the victim managed to drive about a block before he lost control of his car and crashed. witnesses say they heard three shots. police do not have a detailed description of the shooter... but they are checking surveillance cameras in the area. "that explosion injured two people that were walking along the side of the road. those individuals are currently in a local hospital. they are a 22 and 23-year-old males, both anglo males. the victims apparently set off the bomb when they actuated a trip wire. "this device is a little more sophisticated than what we have seen to date." it is more sophisticated. it is not targeted to individuals. we're very concerned that with trip wires, a child could be walking down a sidewalk and hit something.austin residents were warned to be suspicious of everythig. (catherine) police say they haven't decided if the bombings are hate crimes or terrorism.for now they have no idea of the bomber's motivation. grant, vicki, (vicki) search teams continue to try to find a missing man from richmond... who did not return from a day of skiing at bear valley mountain resort. today the air national guard and c-h- p assisted in the search. thomas mullarkey's wife reported him missing late wednesday night then he did not return to their cabin in arnold. his car was found at the resort that evening. multiple agencies are searching for mullarkey. but authorities say the week's heavy snowfall have slowed their search and rescue efforts. the 65-year is said to be an advanced skier in good health. (vicki) the search continues for a 27-year-old concord man who has been missing for a week. david kempker was last seen in sacramento county near sherman island last monday. his truck was found parked along highway 160. now family

(grant) a big story we're tracking... the u-s supreme court is set to hear arguments in a california abortion case. the hearing gets started tomorrow at 10 a.m. however today...people are already lining up to get a seat in the courtroom. anti - abortion folks will challenge a california law ...which they say is an unconstitutional violation of their free speech rights. the 2015 law requires licensed pregnancy centers... to inform clients about state-subsidized family planning services -- including abortion. california argues the law is a neutral regulation aimed at informing women of their health care options. but some religiously affiliated pregnancy centers.... say it forces them to deliver a message that is in direct conflict with their mission to encourage childbirth. (grant) a stranded kayaker is rescued after being stranded in tomales bay over the weekend. the sonoma county sheriff's helicopter was patrolling in south santa rosa... when the water rescue was called in. the chopper got there in just seven minutes-- and found the man who had fallen from his kayak. another kayaker was helping the man stay afloat until rescue crews arrived. the man was treated for hypothermia at the scene. (vicki) in the east bay... the oakland coliseum d-m-v office is now reopen. the office has been closed for more than a month... as crews were working to repair water damage. you may remember that the office was flooded after a break-in.... where thieves stole copper pipes. but

(vicki) in the east bay. police have confiscated two guns... nearly $40 grand in cash... and over $nine thousand dollars worth of drugs. the bust happened on 25th street in richmond. officers obtained a search warrant...after monitoring the location for several weeks. authorities say they found over half a pound of cocaine ... 222 xanax pills...60 amphetamine pills and 35 grams of mdma...worth around $nine grand. a 30-year-old suspect was arrested at the scene. officers also seized two pistols...and found $38 grand in cash. (catherine) we know that the 13 children - between the ages of two and 29 years old - are allout of the hospital...and that the seven adults are reportedly now living together in a home in rural california.. the six minor children are in two different foster homes in riverside county. they're all said to be in contact with each other...and regularly use skype to stay in touch. authorities aren't saying much about their current condition - although there have been reports of nerve and cognitive damage. they were also severely malnourished. the turpins allegedly shackled some of their children to beds, deprived them of water, and fed them tiny portions of food on a strict schedule. the 29-year-old weighed just 82 pounds when she was found. the turpin parents are due back in court march 23rd. if convicted,

(grant) take a look at this... costco thieves run out of the store with stolen goods and straight into the arms of police. this happened at a costco in seattle. the police were waiting at a fire exit... which is how the shoplifters had gotten out of the store in the past. the cops blocked the path of the getaway car that had backed up to the exit and when the thieves came out they were arrested. the same three people are suspected of stealing more than two-thousand dollars worth of merchandise from another costco earlier that same day. during that four- alarm fire in san francisco's north beach neighborhood.. has been red tagged. and new at 6... we've learned that a prelinary investiagation into the fire has determined that the cause of the fire... was accidental. (grant) several businesses were displaced in that fire. new at six, kron4's maureen kelly reports that the fire department is receiving some criticism over its response. this is a terrible fricking firethe saturday night fire erupted into an inferno....the viewer who shot this video marvelled that the plumes of smoke were higher than the steeple of st peter and paul's. today a red tag can be seen on several doors warnig that the building that fronts on columbus, union and powell is unsafe.. a spokesperson for the city's building department says the building is so unsafe inspectors could not get

austin, texas, are in shock - after a 'fou -dí people in austin, texas in shock. that is after a fourth explosion in their community in less than a month. this one happened last night and injured two people. a reporter is here with what police are assuming is a serial bomber. >> reporter: there pretty much certain that this is all connected. this is a scene of less nights explosion. one of the victims had been walking a bicycle. the bomb was left at the side of a residential road. the pattern was different. three previous times were stuffed in packages and left on doorsteps. another difference, police say that sunday's two victims are white. the first bombing killed a 39- year-old black man. the second and third killed a black teenager, critically injured the 75-year-old hispanic women.

placed a critical role in facing challenges for caring for veterans, largely a male population. like so many of their colleagues, they were part of a community of who were fearless and committed. i want to recognize them for it , and i want to express my gratitude and love for the community around them. they were remarkable women who served and those that continue to serve our veterans. for those who do not work with veterans or have much contact with them, i would like to make something really clear. our departed colleagues were passionate about working with that group of americans, and not as dispenses of charity of afflicted. those days for those who might be tempted, please be wary of the easy narrative of veterans as a broken and miserable people. the events of march 9, 2018 are unfathomably tragic. this is not what veterans are. we all love working with

veterans. that will never change. and that pep talk that pence game in the dugout about looking into each other's eyes and playing for each other, focusing not on the jam you're in but the love for each other, that is as accurate a description of collection -- the collective spirit of veterans you will ever find. citizens like no other. i could stand here for hours and play emails and messages from veterans that i received that would have us all in tears. that is why we love working for them. that is why they dedicated their careers to them. many of you know exactly what i am talking about. christine was from boston, jiffy and jennifer spent most of their adult lives in california. they converged in the community to confront issues that may seem niche to the public at large but are central to our
