( robin ) happening today... oakland mayor libby schaaf and assembly member rob bonta will announce the oakland children's initiative. the new action hopes to dramatically expand access to affodable and high quality prechool and college readiness and success programs for thousands of children in the city. the announcement

starts at 10 a-m at the city's public library on 81st avenue. ( robin )the rain is being blamed for a crash in antioch. it happened just after 6:00 p-m tuesday on east 18th near hargrove.according to contra costa fire...several vehicles were involved.a total of four people were taken to the hospital. two with moderate injuries, and two with major injuries. you can see firefighters using the jaws of life to remove one person from the vehicle. authorities say they responded to several vehicles accidents in that area. ( robin )rain conditions continue to pick up today... causing issues with san francisco's water supply. kron 4's dan kerman went out to speak with city water manager's on the rains affect. the rains have returned once again in march and water managers say it's really making a difference in terms of water supply. sot david briggs/eb mud water operations mgr. 07-17storage at east bay mud's reservoirs in the sierra and locally are now at 82% of

( robin ) the c-h-p says... it has made an arrest in one of the latest freeway shootings. an 18-year-old man is charged with firing a pellet gun at another driver along interstate- 580 in san rafael, during the height of monday's commute. the highway patrol says, it was an apparent case of road rage. he's been identified as cristian torrez-perez. he was pulled over at this san rafael gas station less than 4 hours after the incident. investigators say a pellet gun and ammunition was recovered in the car. torrez-perez was booked into county jail. ( robin )we now know the name of two people killed... when

their vehicle crashed into a tree in san jose. it happened friday on casselino drive. authorities have identified the victims as 15-year-old isabelle gonzalz and 22-year-old brandon gomez hunsperger. there police say a honda accord was traveling ....when the driver... hunsperger...lost control of the car and crashed into a tree. both victims died at the scene. two other vicitms ...a man and a woman were in the car during the crash...but will be ok. police believe pot and alcohol...played a role in the crash. on lockdown tuesday.both the middle and high schools in hercules were put on what officials call a "soft" lockdown. students were confined to their classrooms while police officers searched the campus. graffiti was found in a restroom but there wasn't a tangible threat. it just said.. do not go to school on a certain date. parents were notified of the lockdown with some choosing to pick up their children. the lockdown was lifted after a little over an hour. ( robin )in national news... a school resource officer is being praised for stopping a shooting at a high school in maryland. 17-year-old austin rollins - a student - opened fire with a handgun at great mills high school tuesday morning . two student were shot. a 16-year old girl has life- threatening injuries. and a 14-year-old boy is in stable condition. authorties say a school resource officer ...blaine gaskill... engaged the shooter. both the shooter and the officer fired at each other simultaneously.

the shooter was later pronounced dead. gaskill was unharmed. right now...investigators are looking into the relationship between the shooter and the female victim as a possible motive.(sot) "there is an indication that a prior relationship existed between the shooter and the female victim. we are working as we speak to determine if that was and if so the extent of that and if it was part of the motive for this shooting." ( robin ) the incident is the 17th school shooting in the united states this year. texas... has been arrested. she was booked and charged in vallejo on monday after trying to enroll at bethel high school. police say the girl was wanted by the copperas cove police department in texas... for the killing of a 17-year-old boy who was found dead from a gunshot wound in november 20- 17. right now she's in solano county juvenile hall... where she'll stay until she's extradited to texas. ( robin )austin texas has been on edge after a string of package bomb explosions -- but a possible blast reported tuesday night turned out to be unrelated, police say the latest incident turned out to be a goodwill worker who was injured by -simulated military ordnance- in a donation box. kristen holmes is in austin with the latest. two pieces of military ordnance -- training devices, known as artillery simulators -- were apparently inside a box that was donated to

( robin )a young boy battling a rare genetic disorder arrived in san francisco tuesday... right in time to receive a special wish. to meet his favorite athlete.... stephen curry. kron four's philippe djegal was there for the surprise... and has the story. (philippe) five and a half years ago... seven-year- old jonathan page was diagnosed with a rare metabolic disorder called methylmalonic acidemia. it prevents his body from properly digesting fats and proteins. it resulted in jonathan suffering a stroke and the deterioration of his motor functions. the disorder has a high mortality rate.loree page/mother- "there are kids that have lived in their thirties. there are kids who have, um, passed away at an early age. however, we're gonna take whatever god shows us. and, we're just going to live life to the fullest." and, loree oliver says the

non-profit organization "dream on three," is helpoing to make that happen. by arrainging her son and the rest of her family to fly in to san francisco international airport... before meeting jonathan's favorite athlete wednesday... golden state warriors' point guard -- stephen curry. curry is also from jonathan's hometown -- charlotte north carolina. loree oliver/mother- "we are very excited to be here." jonathan page/7 years old- "(philippe) what do you like about steph curry? bars... 5 men are in behind bars... suspected of sexually assaulting 5 teenage girls. the men were hanging out at an apartment on shattuck avenue in berkeley early monday. a group of girls came over... and one of the men allegedly pulled out a gun and took away their phones. police say the teenage girls were then sexually assaulted. they were told that they couldn't leave the apartement... but eventually one of them did. she flagged down someone outside and called police. all five men were arrested. were arrested.

( terisa ) in the north bay... a former boys and girls club director in sonoma county has been convicted of sexually abusing young boys. paul kilgore was arrested back in 2016... after police connected him to a string of child molestation cases dating back to 20-10. kilgore was working as a child mentor and athletic director. he worked at the boys and girls club for 10 years before resigning in 2013. kilgore will be sentenced in may. ( terisa ) in the east bay ... c-h-p is looking for the gunmen involved in two freeway shootings... and they need your help. the latest shooting happened monday night along interstate-580 in oakland. and on saturday night in hercules... a woman and a five-year-old girl were injured in a shooting on i-80. c-h-p says at this point... they don't have any suspects.

received information leading them to the suspect. they also received these surveillance pictures. it shows the man they believe to be the bomber dropping off packages at a fed-ex facility in schertz, texas. that is the same facility where a bomb exploded early yesterday morning. in these pictures you can see a man using gloves to drop off packages. police have not released the name of the bomber... only that he is a 24-year-old white man. police in austin say... even though the bomber is dead... the threat to the city is not over yet.

man who was shot and killed in the east bay. police say aj-mal faroqi of brentwood was killed when shots were fired at his car in hayward. it happened early sunday morning on mission boulevard. the victim drove about a block before losing control of his car. police are looking at surveillance footage from surrounding businesses. ( terisa ) we now know the names of two people killed... when their car crashed into a tree in san jose. authorities have identified the victims as 15-year-old isabelle gonzalz and 22-year-old brandon gomez hunsperger. the crash happened friday on casselino drive. police say hunsperger... lost control of his honda accord and crashed into a tree. both victims died at the scene. two other victims -- a man and a woman -- were in the car during the crash. but will both be ok. police believe alcohol and marijuana were factors. ( james ) an arrest has been made in a third freeway shooting. an 18 -year-old is accused of firing a pellet gun at another driver along 580 in san rafael on monday. c-h-p says it was a case of road rage. authorities say cristian torrez-perez was pulled over less than 4 hours after the incident. they found a pellet gun and ammunition in his car. brought police to hercules schools. both the middle and high schools were put on what's called a soft lockdown yesterday... after graffiti was found in the bathroom. the message warned students not to go to school on a certain date. students were confined to their classrooms while police searched the campus for a little over an hour... before giving the all clear. reunion that was 14 years in the making ... after a lost cat turns up at an animal shelter in florida.( james ) retired k-9 officer perry martin lost his the orange tabby named t-2 back in 2004 ... after hurricane jeanne hit. then earlier this month ... the orange tabby showed up at a shelter. the cats microchip led to the joyful reunion.martin says he plans to keep t-2 plenty spoiled for the rest of his life. the shelter says this is a good reminder to microchip your pets and keep your information current.
