support for the march for our lives movement saturday. they started with a rally at civic center plaza. kron 4's hermela aregawi was there... and has the story. in a word.. enough..people from all over the bay area.. rallied at city hall.. demanding politicians pass more laws to protect kids from being killed by guns. hannah wissotzky/protesteri'm 12 and even though some people will tell me oh you are too young to understand what this is. and i understand what's happening around me . we have many drills to make sure i feel safe and the people around me feel safe but i think putting guns in school will completely deplete that. just the idea of having that powerful weapon in school just freaks me out. evelyn lorintzi/protesterwe have these things called lockdowns where you go up against the wall just for practice and every time a few people get really scared more than a million people took to the streets across the country.. inspired by the survivors of the parkland florida school shooting. dr. sophia yen/protesteri just think this could totally be prevented. we saw this happen in australia and they passed laws and they haven't had any since so it is

flu season is winding down, but the latest report from the c-d-c says the b-strain of the flu is being reported more frequently than the a-strain that had been dominant recently. nearly 58- percent of all confirmed cases of the flu were caused by the b-strain. the c-d-c says the b-strain tends to be more severe for younger children. experts say it's possible for those who've already been sick with the flu to get sick again... with a different strain.... they recommend everyone who is still unvaccinated to get a flu shot while strains are still circulating. ( marty ) the secret to a longer life could be found in your diet. doctors say a reduced-calorie diet can slow the metabolic process that leads to aging. they say a high metabolism rate is also a high-stress state. that stress may cause aging and age related diseases. reseachers tested three groups. one group tested a calorie reduction... another tested exercise... and the last tested half-diet, half- exercise. research found

( marty ) the protests continue in sacramento over the death of an unarmed african-american man by sacramento police. a national civil rights attorney has now joined the call for justice for stephon clark. reporter marc thomas has the story.

this is not new territory for national civil rights attorney ben crump. he's represented the families of other high profile cases such as trayvon martin, michael brown and tamir rice. he's now joining the team representing the family of stephon clark - the 22 year old shot and killed by sacramento police. it's still unclear what the team will announce at monday's press conference here at the federal courthouse. for a second day protesters took to the streets of sacramento yesterday demanding justice for clark. as day turned to night the mostly peaceful protests took a tense turn - with demonstrators standing on vehicles and shaking police cars in south sacramento. the demonstrators demanding justice for clark and changes to the system.protester: "know what your political goals are! we settle for petty goals. we don't just want justice for stephon clark. we want to make sure that helicopter's aren't fly for petty ass break-ins of cars. we want to make sure

curry received an m-r-i on saturday. they are officially saying that he has a grade 2 m-c-l sprain. that is one of four ligaments on the knee. it's located on the inside part of the knee. steph will be re-evaluated in three weeks. coach steve kerr talked about the injury this afternoon. draymond afternoon. draymond green will play sunday versus utah, kevin durant will be back next week. it is still unclear when klay thompson

will be back after breaking his thumb. as for other injuries we turn to san francisco giants pitcher madison bumgarner. the giants star pitcher is out four to six weeks after breaking a bone in his pinkie finger friday in a spring training game. saturday madbum had surgery on his throwing hand. doctors inserted three pins into his pinkie to stabalize the bone that was broken. the area that we're talking about is the lower part of the pinkie that connects to his hand. this is the second year in a row that bumgarner has gotten hurt. last year he fell off a dirt bike. it's believed he'll be back sometime in june. he won't be able to throw until those pins are out. on to march madness and it certainly was a mad one saturday. a historic win for one team. 11th seeded loyola- chicago taking on kansas state first half...the drive...the kick out to donte ingram....the lefty...that's in the basket. beautiful shot. loyola leading early on.

going to the d-m-v is as popular as visiting the dentist. kron four's stanley roberts shows us a lot of people are lining up at the d-m-v, because they have questionable license plates. and in some cases people are deliberately altering them to avoid paying tolls and tickets. your license plate in the back looks like it might have been altered a little bit the two b's look a little blurred out so you're going to have to get new license plates ok there are a lot of drivers rolling around the bay with a potentially expensive problem and they might not even know it sound of police buzzer i'll tell you what, i'll let master sergeant gil from the south san francisco police department enlighten with his knowledge the reason i'm stopping you you speak english the license plate in the back this particular style of the license plate the white background is actually reflective material and what has been done to this license plate there appears there is some acid or chemical placed on the reflective material making it non reflective and

so here is the deal. there are two ways an officer can handle this ..he can issue you a fix it ticket yea show them that your license plates are no longer legible however if the officer has a sneaky suspicion that you intentionally altered the plates they could issue you a bigger fine which is 11 hundred and five dollars all three drivers were issued fix it tickets which basically means you go to the dmv get. new plates and get an officer to sign the ticket oh and pay $25 dismissal fee but honestly waiting in line at the dmv should be considered cruel and unusual punishment .. just saying riding with the south san francisco police department stanley roberts kron 4 news ( marty ) as we celebrate women's history month, there's a new study takes a look at the pay difference between men and women. a report by the american association of university women finds that women still earn just 80-cents for every dollar earned by men. but some states have lower disparities in pay than others

new york is number one, at 89-cents. californa is number two, at 88-cents. followed by florida, at 87- cents. and washington d-c and vermont at 86-cents. flu season is winding down, but the latest report from the c-d-c says the b-strain of the flu is being reported more frequently than the a-strain that had been dominant recently. nearly 58- percent of all confirmed cases of the flu were caused by the b-strain. the c-d-c says the b-strain tends to be more severe for younger children. experts say it's possible for those who've already been sick with the flu to get sick again... with a different strain.... they recommend everyone who is still unvaccinated to get a flu shot while strains are still circulating.

for a murder suspect. officers responded to reports of gun shots on friday night ... in the area of wells avenue... near jerry raber ash street park. police say they found the body of a man with a gunshot wound. the victim has not been identified. and there is no information on suspects.
