of hand. a dangerous sideshow on the bay bridge caught on camera. chip is reacting saying their first priority is keeping people safe but knowing when a sideshow is going to happen is a challenge. we have the news. >> we are on the bridge. he's lucky he did not go off the bridge. >> that's the reaction of folks here on treasure island looking at cell phone video of a sideshow that brought traffic to a stop on the upper deck of the bay bridge. people said while they recognize sideshows are a unique part of bay area culture doing it on the bridge is taking it too far. >> 1st and foremost it should be mentioned that safety is a big issue with sideshows and it has been a part of bay area culture particularly with the high c movement. >> they are very dangerous and

this video on the bridge is crazy. >> he calls side shows on the bay bridge crazy but the officials of the california highway patrol say it's not unusual. >> we see these things from time to time. >> california patrol says they are dangerous and the passengers you see here leaning out of the windows could have been ejected if the libert -- driver lost control of the vehicle. >> you have people operating bridges on the edge of their performance envelope and stuff on the roadway and we know our bay area roads needs work and you are risking the lives of people participating and we take it seriously. california highway patrol does their best to stop the shows but the spontaneous nature present the challenge. >> they are very spontaneous and when they can call 911 and give us the information.

>> reporter: officials say although it may be frustrating waiting for it to and they recommend drivers stay in their vehicles until it is safe to continue driving. a slideshow getting more dangerous and in recent incidents as an officer was hit by a car and guns fired into the air. this is sideshows in oakland earlier this year and police say they are dangerous for both participants and police in one incident someone shined a laser . they are putting pedestrians at risk and they

three african-americans shot and killed by police whose families hired the same attorney. in the shooting the family pleads for justice and mary maloney explains. >> >> reporter: horror and heartbreak for a man killed by police. >> they did not have to kill him like that. >> was week two sacramento police officers confronted stefon clark in his grandmother's backyard and they thought clark had a gun. officers fired 20 rounds killing clark. >> what -- will he lie dying and they waited 6 minutes and then they go over to him and put him in handcuffs. >> shortly after they muted body cameras. investigators did not find a weapon and what police did find was a cell phone.

welcome back. time to check in on traffic and weather and i will get you traffic and a bit. we got stuck in a back up let's talk good news and that's all the sunshine and warmer temperatures. >> plenty to go around and if you like yesterday çtoday is going to be warmer around the

bay area. in fact visibility is great and we see mostly clear conditions here in san francisco and in fact we were delay free all morning yesterday and it looks like the same so far. starting off on a good note if you're picking up -- if you're picking up loved ones we are good there and oakland looking ahead at today plenty of sunshine and much warmer temperatures and tomorrow the trend continues and you week ahead is going to be nothing but sunny and warm conditions and dry and no rain and as we get into the weekend things will cool down just a bit for saturday and sunday but it is still beautiful and your forecast looking at temperatures now not nearly as cold as what we sow this time yesterday and 40s and 50s on the board and we are 41 degrees in livermore now and 45 in oakland in tracking the 40s and the south bay as well and 46 in san jose and 49 in mountain

view and 50s in san francisco and 55 in downtown along the coast 52 and we are looking at 45 degrees now in santa rosa. the dry conditions and warmer weather all thanks to this high- pressure system that we are seeing continuing to build throughout the entire week around the bay area and today you can expect 70s and we are tracking 67 for the high in san francisco. at 70 degrees in downtown oakland today and a whole lot of sunshine in san jose with temperatures possibly reaching 73 degrees and your seven day, the warming trend continues near 80 and some places on thursday -- for some places on thursday and a cool down as we glide into the weekend. we talk low 70s for saturday and sunday. make your outdoor plans beautiful and that's a look at weather and back to traffic. traffic is looking much better on 80 into san francisco and look at traffic tracker and i want to talk to you about the

stalled big rig during the 3:00 hour and got a word from a little tran and he said all lanes are open westbound west of the tunnel and that big rig crews are assisting. we only had one lane open on the other deck and it was a mess when traffic backed up into the tunnel and onto the eastern span and you can see it looks a lot better. it is crowded midspan to fremont street and that is a residual delay and no longer a hot spot. behind the toll plaza looking good and all quick track -- trip into san francisco, 9 minutes as you drive and at least it's right on time. richmond bridge westbound 580 nights and -- nice and spoon -- smooth. no problems to report or hot spots and at least it's not raining. across the golden gate looking

good. 20 minutes into san francisco and traffic tracker east shore freeway in great shape heading west 24 light out of walnut creek and lafayette no problems for 580. if you leave now is a quick 11 minute trip hitting north to downtown oakland. a man is in jail after leading police on a pursuit that started on the bay bridge and ended in contra costa county. the pursuit ended in the 1500 block of windy drive in the city of pleasant hill and say the man was driving a yellow van and another pursuit was reported around midnight at 880 south and oakland. a woman led police on a short pursuit before crashing at the high-speed offramp and police have not received any details about that woman. new information and tied to the deaths of two people found in lake merritt over a week ago and an suv was pulled from

oakland and dan kerman has the latest details in that case. monday afternoon this vehicle registered to michael grace was pulled from lake mayor spotted by a drone earlier about 75 feet off shore and 8 feet down and police say grace is the man who drowned in the lake march 15th after an early morning altercation with his girlfriend diana johnson. >> we had several callers who reported an argument between a man and a woman and could hear a woman screaming. >> johnson's body was found in the lake but she is believed to have been murdered. >> she had trauma to her body and the investigators have not released all of the details and the case is technically open but she did die of trauma. >> while grace's car was discovered it does not clarify how he and the girlfriend got into the lake. in fact it raises more questions. >> where they both in the car when the car went into the lake? how did the car get into the

lake? was she in the lake and he drove the car after. there are questions and unfortunately we will never know because they are deceased. >> authorities will look for any additional evidence. they are expecting to wrap up the investigation shortly. dan kerman. a crash happened in 2016 on the way to spring break and killed two people. as reported the family of one of the victims hopes hernandez makes a major change during her time in prison. >> two years to the week that a crash killed two people the driver responsible learn her fate. march 21st 2016 renie hernandez was driving in this view -- suv heading down to big sur. the girls were dancing and

singing. a few minutes later hernandez crossed into the oncoming lane and crashed into another car. the driver was killed instantly. a passenger in hernandez's car william scott later died and hernandez pled guilty to two counts of vehicular manslaughter and reckless driving causing industry and she dropped -- address the court at sentencing but not the victims families directly. they were there and an emotional testimony they tell the judge how much they miss nico and the ghost mother had to leave the court room and we spoke to her after hernandez was sentenced to six years. >> i wake up in agony and i go to sleep and agony i am sentenced for life and what do i do? what do i do? i think of him every second of

to decent temperatures in the 30's and 40's yesterday morning and today not the case and it feels better but still you want to put on the long sleeves and dress in layers because later on things warm up and plenty of sunshine expected around the bay area and as we get into tomorrow the warning trend continues and that's the story for the rest of your work week. warm dry conditions with no rain and a whole lot of sunshine to enjoy and then it looks like things will settle down and with temperatures out the door not too bad with 40s and 50s and 45 degrees in oakland and i'm tracking 46 in hayward and 46 in downtown san jose -- san jose and 55 in san his -- san francisco. napa 53. of course those are set to change with high-pressure seeing around the bay area continuing to build bringing us sunny and warm conditions and

we are seeing those as we get into the afternoon and speaking of look at the highs today and warmer around the bay area than what we experience yesterday near 77 pushing almost 80 in concord and livermore coming in at 77 as well and upper 60s and low 70s for downtown oakland and 70 degrees expected in hayward and low 70s for yourself bay zone and san francisco not too bad and we could see low to mid 60s for today with a whole lot of sunshine and 74 elsewhere and 77 in santa rosa pick your three day planner you can see the warming trend over the next couple of days. we stay nice as we get into tomorrow and upper 70s pushing near 80 as we get into thursday and it will be toasty around the bay area so stay hydrated and make sure you put on sunscreen and it looks like it will stay that way for the rest of your work week and i have more details to come in my

seven day coming up in a bit. let's hand it back to robin and get an update on the commute. >> all is well and quiet and our earlier hotspot cleared and there was a big rig west of treasure island that had all but the left lane closed making folks late but cruz got it out of the way and a little bit of a backup in the cash lanes and under 10 minutes to fremont street. highway 92 no problems from hayward to the peninsula and getting crowded but moving right now under 15 minutes from 880 out to 101 and checking in on 101 no big troubles there and traffic light and at the limit and we have another traffic check -- check in a bit. we showed you video of two people ripping off a business that was helping wildfire victims and our store reached a company in gilroy who believes

they were victims of the same thieves. >> this is heartbreaking. >> what is heartbreaking says jules wilson of g -- gilroy's seagram's rv is that someone would steal a credit card from fire -- fire victims and explode -- exploit their loss and still more from those trying to help. >> he tried to do the best you can and offering the best service and this is what happens. >> we reported how the people in this surveillance video used a stolen credit card to buy $7000 worth of generators from reed's trailer shot in petaluma. the same thing happened earlier here at this shop in gilroy. >> this individual called over the phone and wanted some generators came in and show the id and credit rate -- credit card and took off with the generators. one of the employees recognized his face from the surveillance video you head shown on the

piece you did on "kron4" and according to the guy that works here he's the exact same guy and we would not have any idea. >> the alleged con artist said the generators were needed for food trucks for a fundraiser to benefit fire victims and reed has already been helping out victims with discounts on generators and rvs in gilroy's has also donated to fire victims adding to the outrage. >> when we hear the fact it might be the same people taking advantage of the tragedy that happened with the northern california fires pick one word is heartbreaking. >> small generators like this easily resold and invaluable to the fire victims go for about a thousand dollars and sequence rv is out over $6000 and that included a larger more valuable unit that had to be special ordered and there may be other victims out there as well. >> folks here are convinced

that they too had surveillance video of the same some. >> but it was deleted before they made the connection with what happened and they are hoping that video is shown far and wide -- far and wide in the hope the suspects will be caught. in gilroy. "kron4" news. a san mateo man pled no contest to the second degree murder of his neighbor and you may remember it was a case that stored -- started over a dispute on a space heater. david stubblefield will spend 40 years to life in prison and this is video from a court appearance last year and back in march of 2017 investigators say stubblefield and 77-year- old benjamin roy bowel got into a fight over a space heater. they -- he killed him and cut up the body and will be officially sentenced in may. the tour bus driver has been sentenced -- arrested on

d.u.i. and it happened on sunday morning and officer say the driver was driving a passenger bus on northbound 101 and collided with the right side of the bridge rail and they say she continued without stopping in a passenger call 911 noting that the driver was speeding and passing on the right shoulder and the chip stopped the driver at the parking lot and officer conducted a d.u.i. test and found the driver to be almost four times over the legal limit of .08% blood- alcohol content. the store clerk in colorado is back at work less than 24 hours after being robbed. the crook demanded 61-year-old jazz winter to give him the money from the register. she gave it to them and then tried to grab his gun and the two wrestled for the weapon and the man hit her several times with the of the gun and she is suffering from a minor bruise on her left eye and she says she's not scared to be back at

and it's going to be nice around the bay area. out the door not as chilly as what i was tracking and not too bad for the start but you will want to put on a long sleep for now and 40s and 50s on the board and 45 in oakland and 55 in san francisco and 46 degrees in downtown san jose and then you northbay zone which got a spread of 40s and 50s if you are in napa coming in and 53 degrees. high-pressure you can see it here building around the bay area and we will see high cloud cover but that's it and it's keeping all of the wet weather steering clear of us into the north of us and you can see affecting parts of washington and oregon and we are dry here at home and then these temperatures looking good and 67 degrees in san francisco for the highs and 70 degrees in oakland and 73 expected in san jose and looking at your seven day around the bay forecast. things will only get better and

farmers. in washington, alexander levone. stormy daniels stepping up her legal battle against president trump's personal attorney. daniels is suing michael cohen for defamation. cohen said he paid daniels $130,000 of his hone -- own money as part of a nondisclosure agreement but the new lawsuit claims cohen implied that daniels is a liar and it comes a day after daniel spoke about her alleged affair. president trump denies the affair. the court is rejecting an appeal and allowing the recall election to move forward. the judge behind the controversial sentencing of brock turner who was given a six month sentence for a sexual assault conviction. for a few argued the recall campaign should've filed with the california secretary of state but it was denied and the recall will be decided on the

june 5th ballot. the fact -- the federal trade commission launched an investigation into facebook's privacy practices after another privacy violation and this involves collecting data from text messages and phone calls and sleet has that story. >> now that people are taking a closer look at the data facebook is collecting it was discovered that they had been mining data from phone calls and text messages from some of their users and with some users the data collection has been going on for years and this affects people who installed facebook messenger or facebook light on an android device. it's not spying on the content but more like metadata. logs of phone calls and text messages and contacts and information like who you text and call and when. facebook says android users opt in for this feature when they download the app the social

welcome back time to check in on traffic and it is slow at the bay bridge toll plaza and the cash lanes on the left and the right and we've had our share of problems and 80 weston freemark and a stalled big rig and that was an earlier hotspot and all is well and quiet and 11 minutes from the bottom of the maze to fremont and here is the richmond bridge westbound 580 light and smooth and no problems working your way into the north bay and less than 10 minutes for this drive time. and also a nice ride if you come in from the north bay or leave san francisco and 19 minutes from the tolls up to highway 101 and traffic tracker looking good and you are at the

limit on 580 leaving livermore in 680 light rolling cells and no problems for the nimitz and 2:37 a quick six minute trip to sunnyvale. quintuplets born in walnut creek are home with their family. the babies had been in the hospital since they were born in january and we learned the final baby went home on saturday and parents chad and ab -- the parents say the babies are happy and healthy. lincoln, noel, grayson, preston and gabriella. all cute and we are glad they are doing well. a pair of wandering gray wells spotted off seal beach in orange county and harbor control keeping in -- keeping a close eye on them concerning the shallow waters that are making their way back to open seas and typically swim close to the shore during their migrations and in order to protect the young house from the perp -- from the predators.
