(rob live) all quiet here at cupertino high school right now. after school activities are going on as scheduled but it was a chaotic scene here just after lunchas many students acted as though try were quite literally running fortheir lives. let's go to the video... this is a clip from a cell phone video that captures the frantic scene duringthe lunch hour after an announcement ordered them to evacuate the campus.and who can blame them in the wake of a recent rash of threats, both real and imagined, made against schools. this time, according to the santa clara county sheriff's office,there was an anonymous phone call threatening violence against the school. many students were at lunch, others were still in class while still others were off campus for lunch when the

announcement came. everybody was just trying to get away from the school. let's hear now from a couple of very frightened students and then from the sheriff's department. the sheriff's office swept the school and discovered nothing that might be considered a threat. there was no shooter, no weapons were found. the all clear came around 3 o'clock as students were dismissed for the day. many a worried parent could be seen arriving to pick up their kids amid some happyreunions. (rob live) this is the second such episode here at cupertino high school in the pastfew weeks. we've confirmed that back on february 28th, a student receivedseveral anonymous text messages threatening violence in the form of a bomb threat. no bomb was found. it's not clear of there is any connection between the two cases. despite that apparent panic by students running away from the schoo, a fremont union school district official praised students, teachers and sheriff'sdeputies for their quick response to the perceived emergency.live in cupertino rob fladeboe kron 4 news

(vicki) a big mess for commuters in the east bay-- after a police chase ends in a crash. it happened at port chicago highway in concord early this morning. the off-ramp was closed most of the morning-- but is now back open. it started when police responded to a burglary... and the suspects led officers on a pursuit. the driver crashed near that off-ramp on highway four.

the suspects were taken to the hospital with major injuries. (grant) and we're learning more about another police chase -- this one took place on the bay bridge.it all started just after midnight and ended in pleasant hill... this is video of the driver being taken into custody.. the entire chase lasted about 15 minutes.police say the chase started when the suspect almost hit a chp cruiser with a van while driving through a construction zone. the driver is facing charges including dui and driving on a suspended license. (vicki) it's been a rough start to the week for the student body at oakland technical high school. this after a beloved member of the varsity football team passed away late last week. kron four's philippe djegal spoke with the young man's friends and head coach... who say they lost a great guy. (vicki) on the peninsula... the man who threatened to shoot schools in san mateo county-- is now in custody. this is a picture of the man... taken inside a big 5 in san mateo. police say the man told an employee that he wanted to buy a gun... then he threatened to shoot up a school. san mateo police say they interviewed the man and he admitted making the threat... but he told police he was joking and apologized. he's now in protective custody at a hospital... for a mental health evaluation. (vicki) a man is behind bars for shooting two people

at random ... injuring one ... in east palo alto. the first shooting happened monday afternoon at the intersection of scofield street and capital avenue. the victim was sitting in traffic when a man pulled up in a silver s-u-v and shot at his car. the shooter then drove off and the victim followed him. minutes later the shooter fired at a woman walking and she was hit in the arm. the first victim stopped to help the woman. shortly after police found the shooter and arrested him. an alameda man is recovering from a serious injuries... after a pine tree fell on him. the city has since chopped down a second tree, and has checked every tree standing on that same slope. as kron 4's ali reid reports... this happened in washington park... while the victim was watching his daughter play softball. this accident was such a tragedy and thankfully that father survived and is recovering.after inspecting other trees in the area, the city says the park is safe for families to enter.pkgi find it crazy how a whole tree just fell on somebodywithin seconds, a large pine tree toppled over ... it's very scaryit crashed into this table, and a father that was watching his daughter play softball in the washington park field.gabriela montufarmy thoughts and prayers are for sure with the family and i hope everything is ok with him in fact, the parks department says the last time arborists assessed trees in the park was in 2017. maintenance staff
