youtube's headquarters in san bruno. >> we know that the female shooter has died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, and three others are injured tonight. sources tell kron 4 that the shooting appears to be domestic and others were caught in the crossfire. the youtube office is located on cherry avenue in san bruno. that is right near interstate 380 and 280. the quarteners are also in that area. let's take you live to the scene tonight. kron 4 has been there through the afternoon, and he has the very latest. jr? well, i can tell you here we are almost five hours after all of this went down. you can see it is still an active scene. you look off into the distance. this road is closeed off to most people. we have seen a number of people who work at youtube. they have been able to come back, go into this afterand peck up their cars because many of them left immediately after this shooting happened,
5:30 pm
but some of them have trickled back to get their car and whatnot. you look way off into the distance there, and you can see all of that yellow tape just outside the youtube building. i talked with a number of those people who work at youtube. many of them are not commenting on what is going on, but i talked with one woman earlier this evening and she told me her husband was on his way. he works at youtube, was on his way into the office and he was walking in and at that point, he heard between 15 and 20 gunshots. she describeed it saying that first he heard ten gunshots, and then there was a pause, and then he heard at least five, possibly, another ten gunshots, and got out of there pretty quickly. but initially, he thought it was firecrackers and whatnot. so we're hearing stories like that. we're on the opposite side. you heard about that carls, jr., store where a couple of the victims, at least one of the victims made their way over to that store. that store is on the opposite side of where we are located right
5:31 pm
here, but i have been able to talk. a number of those youtube folks, also, people who work at other buildings in this area. they said that they heard through e-mail a lot of times, many of them didn't actually hear the gunshots, but they got the e- mails, came outside, and saw the mess. that is how they describeed it going on outside with all of those law enforcement vehicles coming in and out. we see a number of law enforcement from the fbi to local law enforcement agencies for not only here in san bruno, but all over the area, even the bomb squad as well. and they got their video of that. trying to play some of those sound bytes and some of those interviews that i had with some of those people in the next 30 minutes or so. steve, pam, i want to throw it back to you, now, in the studio. all right, j. r. continuing our team coverage tonight. slate is live outside the headquarters. >> we understand, gain, you are behind the youtube building kind of near that courtyard that you have been talking about throughout the afternoon.
5:32 pm
and the fbi is there. what do you think is going on? right now, we want to show you something new. we have moved to a different vantage point. right here at this building, this is where the shooting took place this afternoon. that is one of the two youtube buildings here at their headquarters. to the left, you'll see the courtyard with red umbrellas. hopefully we can take some video here moments ago, literally, like three or four minutes ago, fbi agents were out there pointing around and looking around. it looked like part of their investigation. we believe this is the courtyard they have been referencing that has not been confirmed. that grabbed our eye that this may be the very courtyard that behind youtube where police did tell us where this took place. and again, four gunshot wounds happened here, and i also want to show you something when we get in a second and show you how close this carls,
5:33 pm
jr. is directly across the street. 30 or 40-yards from that courtyard where it may have been the shooting. and when i first arrived on the scene here, the witnesss i spoke with were all inside carls, jr., or carls jr. employees who actually interacted with victims who had come running over from youtube. so let's go aled and play some of what they told me. she left the bathroom, and she was already in the dining room, and people were taking care of her. i was trying to find some tools to help her. i found a bungi cord and i tied that around her leg to stop the blood flow no. she was like a young asian lady probably in her 20s. >> did she have any idea why she was targeted? >> she didn't know why she got shot. >> and all of a sudden, it was two or three shots. and then, leek, within 30 seconds after that or 407 seconds after that, then she was running out, and she was shot in the
5:34 pm
leg. >> a lady went limping into carls, jr., she was shot in the foot, and that is when police came there to take care of her and they took her away to the ambulance. >> we heard a shots go off. it was like bang, bang, bang, and then you heard a couple more go off. >> ant 50 or 20 shots rang out. we put on the police scanner. then we came over this way, and they just kept coming and coming. and so we were watching these people come out of the building. >> so, again, this is where the shooting took place at that youtube building there, and again, we saw fbi in the courtyard there a few moments ago n. back. that is where the actual shooting was. and just again, the charles junior directly across the street. this was all still taped off by police. so carls, junior, and a big part of this investigation being right there. subpoena separate them. >> and a lot of good reporting.
5:35 pm
there is new information that with are getting. for example that, one of the people who was injured, a woman was shot in the calf. we didn't know that until now. and people asked her, well, i just -- why did you think you were targeted? she didn't think she was targeted. it was, for her, an accident. we do know that three people are being treated for serious injuries at san francisco general hospital. all of them for gunshot wounds. that is where our story telling is picked up by allie reed who is live there. give us an update. what are the conditions of these three? well, we know right now, steve, of those three victims is that two were female. one of a man. one 27-year-old female is in fair condition. the 32-year-old has serious injuries, and the 36-year-old male is in critical condition this evening. they were all rushed here at a zc -- zuckerburg general hospital and have been treated by emergency staff. now, according to doctors, none of the patients here had to undergo surgery today. however, this is the only level one trauma center in san francisco, and
5:36 pm
what that means is that not only does this hospital provide intensive care, surgely -- surgery, prompt assessment, and emergency operations, if need be, it can handle patients that need more comprehensive care. that is exactly why those victims were rushed here this afternoon. this er is equipped to deal with mass casualty situations. now, doctors won't specify the type of gun that was used, but did rule out an automatic weapon. they tell us all three patients are awake and that they know they are here and what happened to them. the emergency center was under lock-down for quite some time, but that was lifted within the last half hour. dr. andre cambell explains how each patient was treated upon arrival. and every time when someone comes in, we use these techniques called advanced draw ma life support which has been pioneered for the last 30 or 40 years. basically, what we do is we go from top to bottom to do an assessment. we look at their airway, whether or not
5:37 pm
they are breatheing, whether we look at the airway. breatheing, moving their chest. the blood pressure and the pulse is stable. we then look at the injuries that they have in terms of disability trying to figure out what their mental status is, and we expose them when we take off their clothes and we look to make sure we have gotten all the injuries. and then we do a secondaryer is very where we go from top to bottom looking and every detail and make sure we have not mised anything. and although none of the patients required surgely earlier today. and the hospital tells us they are under constant watch, and if need be, that will happen sometime today. reporting live from san francisco, allie reed, kron 4 news. >> thank you, allie. you are looking live right now at the scene of the crime as it werement at youtube headquarters where it is going to be a very long night for forensic teams and investigateers to try and unravel what caused this terrible situation.
