tonight investigators are searching for clues in southern california. i'm vicki leviate. mountain view police made contact with the shooter before the incident. live from you tube headquarters in san bruno, the location of the shooting, teresa? >> reporter: there's so many unanswered questions at this hour. officials are promising to try and get to the bottom of the crime. talk a look behind me. you can see what it looks like today. 24 hours after this shooting out here in san bruno, you can see the crime scene tape is still out there. we have been watching employees throughout the day, just a small number of employees go underneath the crime tape and into the building. many of those employees not talking at all. we heard from some employees a

short time ago, they told us that they are overwhelmed with all that's happening out here. this is the very latest from law enforcement. >> the you tube campus in san bruno wednesday recovering from the shooting. this as the law enforcement begins the long process of piecing together a time line to understand what happened. the suspect was discovered with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. she is as been identified as 38- year old nasim agdahm. >> the suspect's vehicle has been secured and expected to be processed over the next few days. investigators are working to gain access to and review all social media posts with an effort to further comprehend the motive for the crime. >> she lived in san diego with her grandmother. these are pictures taken as san

bruno police along with atf officials carried out a search warrant. they took five bags of evidence including a bag of clothes. another search was conducted at her parent's home in river side. police believe the self- proclaimed animal rights activist was angry at you tube for censoring some of her videos the investigation is believed that the suspect was upset with practices of you tube. this appears to be the motive for this incident. >> she returned to work wednesday and a short statement given. >> in this global community, thank you for the outpouring of support and well wishes and words of togetherness. your support reminds us that even in the toughest of times the you tube community comes together and supports one another. >> authorities say three people were taken to the hospital. the mayor of san bruno added this. >> we had a crisis yesterday and our hearts and thoughts are still with the victims that are recovering in the hospital and with the you tube and their

employees who will be em bashging upon work and trying to get themselves together as they move forward. no one goes to work thinking that this is what will happen to them around their meal time. . >> and this coming in late this afternoon, the family of nasim with this statement, "we express our utmost regret and sorrow for what has happened." that's the latest out here. as far as the investigation, teresa stocio kron four news. we have continuing coverage of the shooting. in south san francisco after reports she visited a nearby gun range. first, lauren kelly live in the newsroom with what we're learning about the shooter. >> the shooter maintained a heavy online presence which she used to promote issues she was passionate about veganism and animal rights.

she also used the internet to vent her grievances about you tube. >> i'm not the only one. >> in this video posted online under a pseudonym can be heard calmly expressing her unhappiness with you tube. her family says she was angry with the online video platform for the past year accusing of yaw tube of suppressing her videos causing her to lose followers from online advertising. many promoting the lifestyle and rallying against animal cruelty but others are musical parodies and exercise videos like this one that you tube restricted for viewers over the age of 18. >> why did they do that? because it's famous. >> family members reported her missing to the san diego sheriff's department on april april 2nd worried because he stopped answering her cell phone. after her father was alerted

she was found sleeping in her car, he says he called back to alert authorities that she was angry at you tube and might be headed there. her brother in san diego who didn't want his face shown told a reporter about the concerns. >> i googled reviews of the you tube headquarters when she had a problem with you tube. >> he also says he did not know his sister had a gun but thought she was turn up at the company's san bruno headquarters to start a fight. a woman who says she's a relative said that law enforcement should have done more they said she was angry another you tube so be careful and police said yeah we're watching her. >> family members say she emigrated to this country from

rye ran when she was 18 years old. today would have been her 39th birthday. our coverage we have learned that 11 hours before she opened fire on you tube employees, ago agdamh was questioned by police in mountain view. that part of the story still unfolding. what do you know? >> that's right, as you said a scant 11 hours before she launched her attack on you tube, she had a 20 minute conversation with police officers in mountain view according to the chief she said or did nothing to arouse suspicious. . >> here in the parking lot of the san antonio center, they ran the plates and learned the vehicle and its occupants were associated with a missing

person's case out of san diego. >> the interaction with the individual is very calm. very collected and normal. there's no indication to them that there's any suspicious activity and criminal behavior. her behavior is very normal. >> the chief says she gave a reasonable explanation for her presence there telling officers she was moving to the area and would be staying with family and looking for a job. police reported the contact to her family and eventually learned the woman had ties to you tube but there was nothing to suggest she would do later that same day. >> at that point there was no reason to be suspicious. he called the officer who he spoke to about an hour prior and it was relayed she may be in the area because she has an argument or issue with you tube over her posting videos.

the chief went on to say had there been the slathest indication he was bent on revenge, the response had been entirely different than what it was. he says just the fact that she was sleeping in her car is not suspicious. he says they come across people sleeping in cars all the time in mountain view. . rob, well prior to the shooting at you tube headquarters yesterday, san bruno police say the suspect visited a local shooting range. reports from south san francisco where it's possible that she made a stop. >> after about two hours inside jackson armed shooting range in south san francisco, a san bruno police officer walked out without answering questions. he would not confirm or deny he

was reviewing surveillance footage recorded tuesday morning. video that may shed light on whether or not she paid a visit here before opening fire at you tube headquarters. >> there's cameras inside. obviously he was here. taking a look at footage. >> two plained clothes officers who say they were with the san bruno police department spent a few hours leaving in an unmarked suv deferring comments to supervisors who didn't explain what investigators were looking for. store ranl space next door to jackson arms. store employees who worked here tuesday say they didn't recognize him but to lieu na they said she looked familiar and may have used the shooting range before she head to san bruno. >> they believe her. not 100% sure but they think so. >> the owner of the shooting range declined to contact. comment.

things appear to be getting worse for facebook. the social media giant now says cambridge analytica - may have gotten information on 87-million users without their knowledge - up from the previous 50 . now facebook says 87 million users may have had their data breach. it was prooefly thought to be 50 million. cambridge an lit ka said to have ties to trump's campaign

getting paid $6 million to do the work with voter targeting. facebook will tell people if their information individually was shared. facebook announced they found 300 more accounts ran by a cemetery ling linked group. the ira page has a total of more than a million followers. facebook removed fubdz of fake pages and accounts run by this group. the ira spent 167 thousand $167,000 on running ads on the deleted pages. robert mueller's office indicted 13 russian nationals in february with links to the group. two years out and the 2020 census is creating controversy, confusion and concern. california first sued the trump association hours after the announcement of the conclusion of a citizenship question. 17 other states followed suit yesterday filing their own lawsuits but it's not just the

(vicki) happening now.... police in the east bay are looking for these suspects wanted for theft. dublin police tweeted out these photos of two suspects -- a male and a female who allegedly stole a car. the male suspect can be seen in a warriors steph curry jersey with the woman in jeans and a black top. the pair are also wanted for committing fraud in several other cities.

police are asking the public to contact them if they have any additional information. (vicki) martinez police say two suspects robbed an a-t- and-t store on arnold drive near the village oaks shopping center yesterday afternoon. officials released these photos of the two male suspects. police say the suspects entered the store around noon. one of the suspects held employees at gunpoint while the other suspect took a box of phones and some cash. they then fled the store on foot in different directions. police say both of the suspects visited the store the day before the robbery. report... after the first nationwide test for those germs was conducted last year. researchers found more than two- hundred genes that make some bacteria antibiotic resistant. the 'nightmare' bacteria has not spread widely yet. but the c-d-c says about 23-thousand americans still die from anti-biotic resistant germs every year. the c-d-c is promoting an aggressive strategy to keep the bacteria contained. it also says, people can protect themselves by washing their hands and disinfecting any cuts. the list of states affected.. has not yet been released. here. the suspect police say was discovered with a self inflicted gun shot wound... shortly after the shots were fired tuesday around lunch time. she has been identified as 39 nasim adgam. san bruno police chief. "the suspect believed to have parked behind rear of building and accessed through the parking garage. we are looking at all of her recent social media posts to further understand the motive of the crime. adgam lived in san diego with her grandmother - these are pictures taken as san bruno police along with atf officials carried out a search warrant. they took 5 bags of evidence, including a bag of clothes. another search was conducted at her parents home in riverside. police believe the self proclaimed animal rights activist was angry at youtube for reportedly censoring some of her videos. san bruno police chief. "at the time, she seemed to be obsessed with the practices and policies of youtube as the movtive.

aghdam did not have a history of mental illness.live in the newsroom i'm maureen kelly kron4 news (pam) yesterdays shooting at the youtube headquarters .... now has some people wondering about the recent policy changes regarding how creators get paid.(steve) according to aghdam's social media posts as well as statements from her father... aghdam became angry when youtube stopped paying for her videos. according to usa today... youtube does not directly pay the creators. rather they are paid through ads that run on their videos and red subscribers. in january... youtube changed its terms so that creators were required to have 4,000 hours of watch time over the last month and 1,000 subscribers to make money through ads. aghdam voiced grievances about this new policy in at least one of her videos.

according to usa today... 99 percent of the channels affected by these new terms were making less than 100 dollars a month. (pam) it turns out ... nasim aghdam spent the night prior to the shooting, in her car in mountain view. she also had a brief encounter with police there . but as kron four's rob fladeboe reports now, she went on her way, after convincing officers she was just someone sleeping in their car... and not a threat. rob fladeboe/mountain view "....i'm here at police headquarters in mountain view where police chief max bosel has been fielding questions all day about how his officers encountered the the woman, eleven hours before she would wal into the you tube offices and open fire on employees. the chief says it began when officers made a routine welfare check on a woman who was asleep in her car which was parked in the lot of the san antonio center here on showers drive. officers ran the plates and learned the car and it'soccupant were assocaited with a missing persons case out of san diego county. officers spent the next 20 minutes interviewing the woman whom they had identified as nasim aghdam, but in the end, there was nothing about the encounter to suggest anything was amiss.

arrested this man for stealing a bike. it happened near 16th and capp streets in san francisco. as for the bike he stole... it was a bait bike set up to catch attempted burglaries. officers arrested the suspect for the theft and burglary tools.
