( marty )crews in santa rosa were out in full force friday, preparing for the storm. kron 4's maureen kelly was there. we're anticipating up to 4 inches for the duration of the storm system. the 4 inches of rain is not necessarily the concern for us. it's the intensity so when we start looking and a half inch to an inch an hour that's definitely where we run into problems and for the potential for significant events to occur. santa rosa fire's assistant fire marshall says they've upped their resources in order to keep a closer eye on hillside areas affected by the northbay firestorm.....like the fountain grove area. we have additional fire fighters on hand a second battalion chief and we have roaming patrol's going along going around our hillside community. public works and water apartment are both doing patrols both checking on our

systems and making sure that things are flowing that need to be flowing so far the other big storms since the october fires have not reached their anticpated potential.....but this one could. but the city and sonoma county have had protective measures in place for months.....including grass wattles...which eariler this year kept hazaderous materials from fire ravaged homes from entering the watershed.....and now serve a new purpose.now the fire debris gone we have a lot of open muddy lots that's why it's critical those things we referred to as bmps best management practices remain in place that's those grass waddles, the erosion control measures because they really need to keep the silt and sentiments on the site and keep it from migrating onto the property and impacting our storm drain systemthis storm is also already creating problems outside the burn zone. these men came to the municpial yard on stoney point road to load up on sandbags.we went to home depot to buy

north bay...marin county fire tweeted this video of crews rescuing two people from a flooded car. it happened in sonoma county. because of the storm, marin firefighters were helping sonoma county fire with this rescue. the driver of this car tried to drive through flood waters...and got stuck. crews used a jet ski to reach the car and pull two people out. they also rescued two dogs. no one was hurt. ( marty ) here's a live look at yosemite this morning... ( marty ) officials are bracing for severe weather in many parts of the state. they are asking people planning to visit the yosemite valey to make other plans. as the approaching storm gained strength, officials announced that the valley would be closed today. rain drenching the foothills could trigger mudslides, making

( marty ) two weeks after the deadly crash of a tesla in the south bay. a new video has surfaced, showing how the car's auto-pilot may have steered the car into that barrier on highway 101.the accident last month killed the driver. here's what happened when another tesla driver tried to replicate what happened. i decided to test that subsection of the road where that autopilot accident happened ...software developer shantanu joshi owns a tesla model s.as he approached the intersection of 101 and 85 in mountain view, he put his car on autopilot."... and the results are kinda freaky"with his hands off the wheel, the car begins to drift towards the barrier.he quickly took control.here it is again in slow motion.the company says its owner's manuals come with a long list of warnings..at the top is one saying "autopilot is intended for use

tuesday's deadly shooting at youtube headquarters in san bruno. we're learning more about how the shooter -- 39- year-old nasim aghdam -- got ahold of her gun. kron four's philippe djegal reports from san bruno where he spoke with police and city leaders. (philippe) on january 16th... san bruno police commander geoff caldwell says nasim aghdam legally purchased the gun she used in tuesday's shooting from a gun shop in san diego. a 9 millimeter smith and wesson pistol similar to this one. commander caldwell says aghdam opened fire at youtube headquaters, shooting several rounds... then reloaded another magazine, and continued firing before turning the gun on herself. rico medina/mayor- "it does shake the community -- it was a crisis." san bruno mayor rico medina, says he's working with city manager connie jackson and other local agencies to try to move forward... evaluate what happened, and find ways to prevent another shooting like this. for the first time since it was lockeddown tuesday -- youtube headquarters is back open. though police and security guards are still monitoring all e ntries and exits. jackson says the first three officers on-scene tuesday entered the building quickly and helped minimize the damage.

( marty )crews in santa rosa were out in full force friday, preparing for the storm. kron 4's maureen kelly was there. we're anticipating up to 4 inches for the duration of the storm system. the 4 inches of rain is not necessarily the concern for us. it's the intensity so when we start looking and a half inch to an inch an hour that's definitely where we run into problems and for the potential for significant events to occur. santa rosa fire's assistant fire marshall says they've upped their resources in order to keep a closer eye on hillside areas affected by the northbay firestorm.....like the fountain grove area. we have additional fire fighters on hand a second battalion chief and we have roaming

of crews rescuing two people from a flooded car. it happened in sonoma county. because of the storm, marin firefighters were helping sonoma county fire with this rescue. the driver of this car tried to drive through flood waters...and got stuck. crews used a jet ski to reach the car and pull two people out. they also rescued two dogs. no one was hurt. ( marty ) officials are bracing for severe weather in many parts of the state. they are asking people planning to visit the yosemite valey to make other plans. as the approaching storm gained strength, officials announced that the valley would be closed today. rain drenching the foothills could trigger mudslides, making roadways hazardous. a river at the park's entrance is expected to rise nearly 15 feet -- which is well above flood stage.

nasim aghdam -- got ahold of her gun. kron four's philippe djegal reports from san bruno where he spoke with police and city leaders. (philippe) on january 16th... san bruno police commander geoff caldwell says nasim aghdam legally purchased the gun she used in tuesday's shooting from a gun shop in san diego. a 9 millimeter smith and wesson pistol similar to this one. commander caldwell says aghdam opened fire at youtube headquaters, shooting several rounds... then reloaded another magazine, and continued firing before turning the gun on herself. rico medina/mayor- "it does shake the community -- it was a crisis." san bruno mayor rico medina, says he's working with city manager connie jackson and other local agencies to try to move forward... evaluate what happened, and find ways to prevent another shooting like this. for the first time since it was lockeddown tuesday -- youtube headquarters is back open. though police and security guards are still monitoring all e ntries and exits.
