the investigation... and none of the threats have been deemed credible. (grant) a developing story we are following tonight-- it appears that problems with soil samples at the hunter's point naval shipyard are much worse than previously thought. earlier this year the navy real that nearly 50% of tests done by a contractor on portions of the site m have been falsified. kron4's maureen kelly talked to an environmental advocacy group who says newly obtained public records from the epa.... paint a much more disturbing picture. the level of remaining radio activity on this site is now unknown this is the letter from the epa to the navy which lays out the problem in black in white.it states that instead of half the soil samples conducted by a subcontractor being questionaable.....they found 90% of the soil survey from parcel b....and 97% of samples from parcel g of the hunter's point naval shipyard are suspect. that letter was obtained by the dc based advocacy group public employees for environmental responsibility, or peer.

their executive director talked to me by skype. the epa is using words like fraud, falsification, deliberate misconducthe says post world war two navy ships used in hydrogen bomb tests were brought to this shipyard for decontaimination.....and left behind radioactivite pollution. the samples were from land that's slated to be turned over to a developer and transformed into over ten thousands of housing units....but that had handover has been delayed. this uncertainty puts the entire hunterspoint in the limbo and it might mean as much as 12 years of past sampling has to be thrown out and they need to start all over againbut now the navy says they will need to retest the soil for containmention.....a navy representative told the public at an open house eariler this year that could happen this summer but no definative timeline has been laid out. the delays are frustrating to the chair of the hunters point citizen's advisory committee. when they push the project back that means these jobs are not gonna be available that means the affordable housing is not gonna be available and we all know that a third of this project is dedicated to affordable housing she says the community needs the epa and the navy to get going to retest and clean this area up....because anything that delays affordable housing is devestating to the bayview and the entire city.maureen kelly kron4 news.

following the deadly shooting of stephon clark. the police department says this is the first time officers have received written direction on when the cameras or the audio can be turned off. the memo says officers can turn off cameras in limited circumstances including dealing with a victim of sexual assault, or if a supervisor instructs them to do so. officers now must also verbalize their reason for turning off the microphone. already know who he was.in richmond will tran kron 4 news (grant) lots of students at cal poly san luis obispo...are outraged tonight... after racially charged photos surfaced - including one showing a fraternity member posing in black-face. others were dressed as gang members...flash ing gang signs. hundreds of students held an emergency town hall to denounce racism and intolerance after the photos surfaced on social media. the lambda chi alpha fraternity has been aced on interim suspension while the univsity reviews the situation. students are now demanding action from administration. "i can't speak for everybody, but we just want the campus to pretty much take action for this instead of brushing it under the rug, things like the

(estacio reporting) right now, purchases typically between 25 - 5o dollars do not trigger signing to make purchase. but by the end of the month, target plans to completely eliminate the need to your write out your name, ever. walmat has already done away with signatures. later this month, the big credit card companies such as american express, discover mastercard and visa will stop mandating signatures at check out. a spokesperson from a merchant advisory group calls signatures obsolete - and not necessary measures given protective steps such as adding chips to credit cards. customers had this to say about having their names erased as that last step before heading out the door. was rented out through air b-n-b. an 18-year-old man took a macbook laptop from the d-j's equipment area....then fled the home. the d-j ran out of the house and chased the suspect.. but stopped when he said the thief pointed a gun at him. the suspect then got into a dark grey honda that was waiting for him. police do not have a detailed description of the suspect or the get away driver. (vicki) the santa clara county registrar of voters say it needs around 5-thousand to 6-thousand election officers to serve in over eight hundred polling places for the june 5th election. the registrar is seeking bilingual support in 19 different languages. officer responsibilities include answering procedural questions and otherwise helping voters exercise their voting rights while being stationed at polling places throughout the county on june 5th. staff says those who are u-s citizens registered to vote as a permanent redent and are 18r older can be an election officer. the registrar will also hire high school students who are at least 16 years old. investigating a shooting that happened around 11 last night. four people were shot outside the marinia vista apartments. when they arrived there weren't and victims or suspects at the scene -- but found a two cars parked next to each other... srayed with bullet holes and with blood smears on the outside. reports say two 27-year-old men and two 23-year-old women brought themselves to the sutter medical center in vallejo. police say all four did not cooperate with the shooting investigation and there have been no arrests in the case. (vicki) on the peninsula.. . a man has pleaded not guilty to threatening to kill staff of congresswoman jackie speier. 52-year-old ronald lafaye appeared in court yesterday. he is accused of leaving voicemails at speier's office-- threatening to kill and harm her staff members. prosecutors say lafaye had no problem with speier-- but he has a history of making criminal threats. lafaye will return to court later this month-- and he remains in

is reunited with his children after a woman stole the car they were sitting in from bee line for mexico, and his ar 9-1-1 from the back seat helped authorities stop her. kelly hessedal has the story . a vehicle stolen near lincoln park with two children inside was located monday after being driven to the u.s.-mexico border, according to authorities. the female suspect, leslie esparanza saenz, 26, was taken into custody. according to san diego police, the children's father parked his hyundai outside a business in the 200 block of euclid avenue leaving a 3-year-old boy and 8-year old girl inside with the air conditioning and engine running. while the man was in a beauty supply store, a witness observed a woman get into the car and drive away with the kids inside. the father reportedly called police and the 8-year-old child in the car was also able to call 911 from a cell phone telling authorities that she and her brother had been kidnapped. officers on scene contacted chula vista police and border patrol to give them information on the stolen car and children. approximately 30

(vicki) a mother says a smart watch saved her life after it buzzed with an alert about her heart rate. it said her heart rate was over 120. she and her husband thought a fast heartbeat was related to the flu, but the issue turned out to be much more significant. an urgent care doctor sent her to the emergency room and was diagnosed with thyroid storm... and doctors say that can be fatal if left untreated.

officials say rowley led rhode island state police on a chase back to connecticut last week before his arrest... and they are still trying to determine the validity of his story. (grant) but now, a "cooler" approach to yoga gaining steam -- and it involves practicing on the water. reporter sophie heinemann dives in to find out what the fuss is all about. angie shoup is no stranger to yoga... but that doing it on the water is a whole different story. after being teased at school over his new lunchbox. lawrence karnow: a weak storm moved into the bay area today with a few showers. you can see the storm on doppler radar as it moved through. there is a chance of a few lingering showers tonight otherwise we will see plenty of clouds. on the satellite you can see another storm off the coast. the next one will be a little stronger with rain and some gusty winds tomorrow evening. most of the day tomorrow will be dry with just increasing clouds. that changes late in the day with a chance of showers in the north late in the afternoon. the storm then sweeps across the rest of the bay area tomorrow night. by thursday it will be over leaving partly cloudy skies and cool temperatures. it warms back up on friday with highs soaring back into the 70s before cooling down this weekend. more rain is possible sunday night and into monday. monday. last weather and goodbye
