right now police are still looking for the other driver involved. hello i'm grant lodes. (catherine) and i'm catherine heenan in for vicki liviakis. two other little girls and a young woman remain hospitalized tonight. the crash happened just after nine last night....on 35th avenue near paxton avenue. that's not far from fruitvale avenue and interstate 5-80. kron four's philippe djegal spoke to a witness. (philippe) shattered glass and at least two cars with their bumpers caved in... rest along 35th avenue.denise gonzalez/neighbor- "i was seeing everything from the window in my room." this damaged s-u-v belongs to denise gonzalez's mother. tuesday night, it was parked near paxton avenue. it was crushed during a collision between a toyota corola and an infinity s-u-v. oakland police say the infinity ran into the corola as the driver of the corola tried a to make a u-turn. after the crash... gonzalez and other neighbor say they saw the five people inside the s-u-v run away..denise gonzelez/neighbor- "uh, there was two girls and three boys.

(denise) one of them. like, fainted. the driver fainted." a 25 year-old woman was behind the wheel of the toyota corolla. police say she is in critical but stable condition. the three girls that were in that car are eight, nine and 10-years-old. the eight and 10-year-olds are in stable condition. the nine year-old was pronounced dead at a hospital.ofc. felicia aisthorpe/opd- "speed may be one of the causing factors of the collision, but that has to be determined by the investigators." councilman noel gallo wants tougher enforcement for people who speed down these narrow streets.noel gallo/councilman- "i feel for the family's. i feel for the children."denise gonzalez/neighbor- "i feel like disappointed and very sad." police say a 15-thousand dollar reward is being offered for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in this case. in oakland, philippe djegal, kron four news. (mabrisa rodriguez)a narrow cold frontal rain boundary making its way to the bay area slower than expected. this frontal boundary then continues south and east tonight bringing rain chances all the way south to monterey/san benito. a few showers may lingering early thursday then gradual drying. rainfall amounts will generally be a few hundredths to a few tenths. highest rainfall amount will be north bay and coastal mountains. snow levels will drop 3-4k feet. mostly dry conditions on thursday, but it will remain cool in the post frontal set up. high pressure builds friday and saturday leading to a nice warm up with highs in the 60s and 70s, which is close to average.ridge of high pressure begins to flatten and shift eastward saturday into sunday as the next system takes aim at norcal. rain chances return during the day sunday as a cold front moves through the bay area. showers remain on monday as the upper

(maureen)that's right grant......im in the stinson beach central parking lot where the creek here overflowed it's banks....causing all the damage.you can see here where crews have already begun the work to shore up the banks. (adlib about rain)but officials tell me that they don't expect this storm to impede their progress. crews from the conservation corp north bay have been busy putting down sandbags and plastic sheeting....trying to build the banks of the eskoot creek back up. the heavy rains of that atmospheric river caused the creek to overflow.....and in this video you can see it still flowing into the stinson's beach central parking lot. you can see there's a lot of rock and mud here too. national park workers operating bulldozers

have been working to clear this debris.at this time the worst damage is still roped off with caution tape.that's here in the north parking lot where all of that rushing water washed away the ground under neath and caused much of the parking lot to collapse. it makes for an unusual waterfall but the national park service is asking people to stay out of this area because it's simply unsafe.. the beach itself is still open to the public.....but getting to it will be a challenge.....especially since the parking lots are inaccessable for now. those who live and work in this small beach community say parking is already an issue....because there is very little street parking here. this is going to make things a whole lot worse the longer this drags on...especially on the weekend....when the beach loving tourists start showing up in droves.it's just gonna get nuts out here. even the parking lot is open, parking is a premium when the tourist come on the weekend and i know a lot of them are not even going to know it's closed and they're going to end up out on the street it's just gonna be a zoo out here businesses here going to suffer. usually it's crowded here on the weekends especially from this time of year on and i think people are just not gonna have access to it two bolinas residents taking a peek at the cleanup worry that this might even impact them if the problems keep all or part of the lots closed into the summer.and we're gonna be just over run it over filled with cars and we have no places to park over there and this is where all the people from the city and oakland call come to enjoy their weekends and the surfers and i'm just not sure

driver in a stolen car... crashed in san jose. you can see on your screen-- the car speeding past surveillance cameras. shortly after, the driver crashed.. and later died from his injuries. and as kron 4's sarah stinson reports-- two children were also injured in the crash. the firey crash happened right here on san carlos street, when a man driving west in a stolen hydunai lost control and swerved off into this embankment.i spoke with a man who was working at the 76 station right on the corner by bird avenue...he heard the crash and called 9-1-1. (soundbite: "then i heard tires scretch and a loud bang and then at that point i went outside.")when the car crashed at around 1:20 this morning, it flipped and immediately went up in flames.("i heard lady screaming saying get out, get out." you can see the charred car in this video. ("they went down a few times to get them out. two of them came out and then another one." san jose police say two children were extracated from the car and sent to the

hospital with life threatening injuries.the driver died shortly after at the hospital. strawberry season... meaning a new round of advice on washing them well before you eat them.. for the third year in a row... strawberries have topped the "dirty dozen" list from the environmental working group. their researchers rank pesticide contamination in dozens of fruits and vegetables. strawberries are the worst - but spinach is in the runner-up slot -- followed by nectarines, apples and grapes. the group says that nearly 70-percent of all non-organic food has some kind of contamination. (grant) a big story we're tracking tonight... an omaha couple suffered a nightmare ordeal this weekend while celebrating their three- year wedding anniversary in mexico. it all started with a violent crash that left them seriously injured -- but then it got worse. megan hahn reports. natsot: "all i know is that they were driving, the were coming up to a sharp curve and at a look out point and they don't remember anything until andre woke up and my daughter was unresponsive at the time."

tamara sebastian / mother of injured woman: "i was in shock and i was so scared. i don't know how to explain it." saturday - family received word andrea holiday and husband andre were sideswiped near san jose del cabo in mexico.among several injured... andrea and her husband were taken to a private clinic outside the city... raising questions. tamara sebastian / mother of injured woman: "it was a private clinic and they just wanted all his money."andrea was unresponsive with a traumatic brain injury.andre -- with a concussion and broken arm. neither given pain medication.the bill?almost three thousand dollars for a catscan.tamara sebastian / mother of injured woman: "he gave them all their money. and kept giving them money and wouldn't do anything for them so my daughter laid there with a shattered arm and swelling of the brain for the first whole day."meanwhile andrea was fighting for her life with severe brain swelling.the private clinic holding medical care hostage... until cash was paid up front.tamara sebastian / mother of injured woman: "they were in some place where they weren't getting medical care. and drea could've died

because of the swelling in her brain."frantic family - contacted the u-s embassy, who intervened but not without a delay... eventually moving the couple to a hospital inside cabo san lucas.tamara sebastian / mother of injured woman: "we're trying to help as much as possible. the whole family is. we just want her home. i don't know. my chest just hurts its so hard." surgeons still need to repair andrea's shattered arm, and her brain swelling needs to go down before the mother of four can be brought back to omaha. it's medical care, the hospital is refusing... unless it's paid in advance. he was arrested friday for allegedly showing up drunk to the sheriff's department to be fitted with an alcohol monitor. he pleaded not guilty today to a string of charges in connection with a domestic violence incident last month. the alcohol monitor as well as an ankle monitor were ordered because smith violated a protection order. the order banned him from contacting the victim in the case. he's being held on 500-thousand dollars bail. .. (grant) in the east bay... antioch police are praising some good samaritans after they stopped an attempted laptop theft. it happened at a starbucks on lone tree way near blue-rock drive monday afternoon. the two suspects entered the store and then returned a short time later, attempting to steal a laptop. that's when customers blocked the door...keeping them fromleaving...customers were able to hold one suspect down until police came. the second suspect was caught shortly after. they were arrested and are now facing

grand theft charges. (grant) promising news for teachers in the east bay... the west contra costa unified school district is working with a startup company to help teachers put down payments on homes. san francisco-based company-- landed-- will pay half of the down payment on a home. at up to 120-thousand dollars....so the maximum down payment would be 240 grand. the teachers are responsible for the rest of the payment. the teacher will have to repay the company between 10 to 30 years after the initial investment. if the teacher sells the house, the company will share 25 percent of the sale whether the property rises or falls in value. (catherine) in the north bay... a 17-year-old boy is recovering after being shot in the back last night. it happened just before nine on basalt drive near whitney avenue. police say the teenager had been washing a neighbor's boat when he heard gunshots...then he ran to a house and collapsed. he was shot in the back once -

and is expected to survive. the suspect is described as about six feet tall and slim, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and mask. he was last seen driving northbound in a dark car on serpentine drive. (catherine) novato police are asking for the public's help in identifying this man. they say he robbed vilma's jewelry store on grant avenue in downtown novato monday night. he's described as hispanic, about five-foot-7 -- weighing about two-hundred pounds. he has black hair with a mustache, light brown eyes and a light complexion. the man was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, a baseball cap and carrying knit caps for sale. (catherine) happening now--- investigators are looking for the person who stole a mailbox in oakland. the postal service says the blue mailbox was ripped from the ground in the middle of the night. fortunately... the theft was captured on surveillance video. kron 4's charles clifford has the story.. normally, this blue postal service mailbox sits here along chabot road in oakland, quietly doing it's job. but early monday morning, someone stole it. the box was bolted to the ground but the theives yanked it out of the sidewalk. the caper was captured on surveillance video.around 1am monday morning, you can see what appears to be a flatbed truck pull up to the intersection and shine it's headlights lights on the blue mailbox. less than 30 seconds later, the box is pulled from the concrete.natsthe truck backs up natsand then drives off into the night. the

national park workers could be seen digging up rocks and mud with bulldozers. while crews from the conservation corp north bay have been busy putting down sandbags and plastic sheeting....trying to build the banks of the eskoot creek back up. the heavy rains of that atmospheric river caused the creek to overflow.....and in this video you can see it still flowing into the stinson's beach central parking lot. you can see there's a lot of rock and mud here too. at this time the worst damage is still roped off with caution tape.

that's here in the north parking lot where all of that rushing water washed away the ground under neath and caused much of the parking lot to collapse. it makes for an unusual waterfall but the national park service is asking people to stay out of this area because it's simply unsafe..the beach itself is still open to the public.....but getting to it will be a challenge.....es pecially since the parking lots are inaccessable for now. those who live and work in this small beach community say parking is already an issue....because there is very little street parking here. this is going to make things a whole lot worse the longer this drags on...especially on the weekend....when the beach loving tourists start showing up in droves parking lots gone there's no way to park that many people in town. on a busy weekend this but town is parked at the rhodes on highway one along highway one even up on the hill so i'm not sure what they're gonna do two bolinas residents taking a peek at the cleanup worry that this might even impact them if the problems keep all or part of the lots closed into the summer.and we're gonna be just over run it over filled with cars and we have no places to park over there and this is where all the people from the city and oakland call come to enjoy their weekends and the surfers and i'm just not sure what's gonna happen this is gonna be a devastating summer for tourismthe national park service says they will have a better what needs to be done when the majority of the mess is cleaned up.(maureen)

in a hit and run collision. oakland police say the eight and 10-year-old girls also hurt in the crash are in stable condition. the 25-year-old woman behind the wheel of the corolla was critically injured, but her condition has stablized. police say the driver and passengers in the infinity s-u- v that collided into the corolla ran from the scene. it appears the cars crashed, when the corolla tried to make a u-turn.ofc. felicia aisthorpe/opd- "it is, um, sad when something like this happens. it's devastating." two parked cars were also damaged during the collision. one of them belongs to denise gonzalez's mother. gonzalez says she heard the crash at around nine o'clock tuesday night... and, saw the driver of the inifinity s-u-v and four passngers run off before police responded. denise gonzelez/neighbor- "uh, there was two girls and three boys. (philippe) did any of them look injured to you? florida police officers punching and kicking a homeless man is going viral this evening. many are outraged at the video ... but police say it doesn't tell the whole story. (pam) lakeland police have reviewed the video which is now posted on social media. they say, the use of force is appropriate ... and they stand by their officers. reporter evan donovan has more. you can see from this short video shot by a witness... one officer kicks the man... as the second officer struggles to contain him.... then begins punching him. it all started tuesday afternoon under this i-4 overpass off highway 98. lakeland police say officers deangelo anthony and j-r west approached a homeless man and told him he was trespassing... they say 38 year old justin abbott then refused to leave. gary gross / lakeland pd"and then he took a stance. and to a law enforcement officer, this is an aggresive stance. he backed himself up against the wall, refusing to move.

that's not a good sign for a police officer. that shows us he's willing to fight." that's when the officers tried to arrest him ... but police claim abbott began "actively resisting." so officer west used his taser. when it didn't work, he tried to use it again... yelling for the officer to clear. that's when police say officer anthony backs up...and abbott tries to grab the taser."both hands are on that taser. now if he gets that taser, we're in a deadly force issue. the officer that backed up, again with ... come forward when he saw him grab the taser and kicked him in the arm, not the head." police said that kick forced abbott to drop the taser... ending the altercation. a third officer in the video ... was identified as a polk county sheriff's deputy. rammed a motorcyclist off the road in sarasota. (steve)the road rage incident was caught on video.jake peterson reports. darin hendrickson:"he was definitely trying to kill me on purpose."but hendrickson wasn't expecting a traffic citation himself.darin hendrickson:"they said i didn't stay in my lane properly."detectives writing him a ticket just today..the same day they announced the arrest of the driver magdiel medrano.darin hendrickson: "they can say whatever they want to say, the fact of the matter is the man tried to kill me."sheriff tom knight: "it's better for law enforcement to handle these situation and not for victims to take it in their own hands." sheriff tom knight says hendrickson shouldn't have continued engaging medrano once he noticed their was trouble.sheriff tom knight: "what's most concerning for me as a sheriff is who this suspect is."knight says medrano is an illegal immigrant from el salvador..he didn't have a driver's license and he tried to cover up the evidence.sheriff tom knight: "the suspect had already begun to strip the vehicle of the doors, windows and tags, and had sent text messages, which we were able to determine was going to reveal how he was going to destroy the car." hendrickson is just glad justice will be served, but he's going to think twice from now on about letting aggressive drivers get the best of him.darin hendrickson: "hopefully somebody else can prosper and learn from my mistake."
