( robin )a hit and run accident in oakland... leaves a nine year old girl dead. the crash happened tuesday night near fruitvale avenue and interstate 5-80. kron 4's ali reid spoke to witnesses... who say the intersection... needs to be made safer. neighbors tell me there are a regular occurence along 35th avenue.they want either more

stop lights, or stop signs along the strip.pkggetting hit, there are accidents. there's an accident down the street right now right? accidents seem to be common on 35th avenue. tuesday night's tragedy rang through the neighborhood.it sounded like a bomb went off. that guy was doing 100 mph, and no skid marks, just went right into those cars full impact.a 25 year old woman and and 2 girls ... ages 8 and 10 are now listed in stable condition. unfortunately the third child ... a 9 year old died from her injuries wednesday.the 9 year old girl, we didn't know she was in the car. we went over there and pulled the door off and the whole side of her face ... it was horriblethey just came from bible study. police say the victim was making a u- turn onto 35th when the crash occurred.he lost control and hit that cara number of other vehicles were hit during the collision. witnesses say the people inside the infiniti s-u-v didn't stick around.they

run away, all of themone fainted. the driver fainted resusitating him, he got off the ground and ran awayat this time we're still trying to identify the driver of the suv just a quarter mile away, there was another deadly crash back in september of 2016. 2 year old jeremiah esera was chasing a ball into the street when he was hit by an a-c transit bus. neighbors tell me accidents are ongoing.slow it down on 35th avenue in east oakland. slow it down. my kids play herestandupaccording to eyewitnesses, speed was a factor in this particular crash.police say it's unclear if drugs or alcohol also contributed.reporting live from oakland ... ali reid ... kron 4 news. ( robin )a north bay family is mourning the loss of their young daughter.23 year old mariah coogan was killed monday.. when the small plane she was in... crashed in scottzdale arizona. this morning... her family is speaking exclusively with kron 4's hermela aregawi. mariah sunshine coogan is remembered for living up to her middle name. chris coogan/victim's fatherwhen she walked into a room, she just lit it, lit the whole room up. she's just a good spirit. i can't explain it. the light of my life, light of our lives stacy coogan/victim's mother you know as a child you have a mother daughter relationship and then they get to be an adult child i guess and it was such a beautiful relationship between us, it was a whole new relationship and i feel robbed. i feel so robbed the 23 year old recently moved to la to pursue modeling full time.monday night.. she and five others left a golf tournament in scottsdale.. and were headed to las vegas.but the plane crashed soon after

( robin ) the family of a man who died in a fiery crash involving a tesla...is considering taking legal action. a law firm posted on its blog.... that relatives of the san mateo man might file a wrongful death lawsuit. the suit would name tesla and possibly sub- contractors... for design of the car's auto-pilot mode. walter huang's tesla was on autopilot when it veered into a highway barrier and caught fire back on march 23. ( robin ) exclusive video showing the moments before a driver in a stolen car... crashed in san jose. you can see the car speeding past surveillance cameras. the incident happened on san carlos street, when a man driving west in a stolen hydunai lost control and swerved off into an embankment. he crashed.. and later died from his injuries. two kids were also injured in the crash. we spoke with to the man who heard the

accident.. ( robin ) the two children are at the hospital now with life-threatening injuries... ( robin ) novato police are asking for the public's help in identifying a man they say robbed a jewelry store monday. authorities are looking for this man. they say he robbed vilma's jewelry store on grant avenue in downtown novato monday night. he's described as hispanic, about five-foot-7 -- weighing about two-hundred pounds. he has black hair with a mustache, light brown eyes and a light complexion. the man was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, a baseball cap and carrying knit caps for sale. ( robin ) in the east bay... antioch police are praising some good samaritans after they stopped an attempted laptop theft. it happened at a starbucks on

lone tree way... near blue-rock drive monday afternoon. the two suspects entered the store and then returned a short time later, attempting to steal a laptop. that's when customers blocked the door...keeping them from leaving...customers were able to hold one suspect down until police came. the second suspect was caught shortly after. they were arrested and are now facing grand theft charges. ( robin ) former raider player aldon smith has pleaded not guilty to a string of charges in connection with a domestic violence incident last month. smith appeared in court yesterday.,he was arrested on friday for allegedly showing up drunk to the sheriff's department to be fitted with an alcohol monitor. smith had also violated a protection order ... which prohibited him from contacting the victim in the domestic violence case. smith is being held on 500-thousand dollars bail. and stray animals near east sixth street. people who live there say the homeless can be loud at night... and sometimes will even start uncontained fires on the property. they also complain of unknown people wandering throughout the community. while the news of the encampment getting shut down brings joy to some... other residents feel sympathy for those who have to relocate. ( robin )the city will post an abatement warrant on the property today... giving people who live there until monday to vacate. ( robin )in pacifica... property owners are facing a huge fine for fixing a staircase that was ruined in a storm two years ago. city officials say the staircase was not approved ... and not built up to code. kron 4's charles clifford explains. well, back in 2016,

powerfull storms here in pacifica opened up a sinkhole in a staircase that leads from here along esplande avenue down to the beach below.the staircase is owned by a real estate group that also owns the nearby oceanaire apartments. shortly after the sinkhole appeared, contractors hired by the apartment owners started repairs on the staircase including pouring concrete into the sinkhole. but in california, the california costal commission has to sign off on any work or construction along the shoreline. the commission says the property owners did not coordiante with them on the repair work. alex helperin is an attorney with the coastal commissionsotno one talked to us for months. we sent out letters right away saying we know this has happened. there are procedures in place that we can work with you to get this taken care of. and we got nothing.the coastal commission has the legal authority to fine the

property owners millions of dollars but the two sides were eventually able to sit down and hammer out an agreement. a deal which still needs to be approved by the coastal commission's board. under that proposed agreement, the apartment owners would pay 1.4 dollars in fines and finish repairing the staircase, which has been closed for more than a year now.sotthey have agreed to pay the penalty. to work with us on restoring access. and to work with us on a longterm solution to restore permantely and to ensure that this sort of problem doesn't happen again.the coastal commission is scheduled to vote on the proposed agreeent on thursday, we reached out the oceanaire apartement owners but no one was available to comment for this story. in pacifica, charles clifford kron 4 news. ( robin )last weeks big storm left the parking lot at stinson beach severely damaged. yesterday marin county officals were out assessing the damage. the worst of it is still roped off with caution tape. rushing water washed away the ground underneath the concrete... and caused much of the parking

lot to collapse. people who live and work in this small beach community say... parking is already an issue... and this is only going to make things worse. ( robin ) locals are worried that all or part of the lots could be closed into the summer. the national park service says, it will have a better picture of what needs to be done... once more of the mess is cleaned up. ( robin )a sunnyvale institution closed it's doors last night... after nearly 60- years in business. locals said their final goodbye to the infamous... brass rail. the popular bikini bar was founded in 19- 60... and sat right in the middle of a residental neighborhood. over the decades... some 6-thousand exotic dancers have performed there.

( robin ) an oakland man is behind bars after robbing and assaulting a woman near a san leandro bart station. it happened yesterday morning on west juana avenue ... where police say a 23-year-old man approached a woman.the suspect pushed the victim to the ground ... started kicking her and ran off with her purse. police quickly caught the attacker in a nearby neighborhood .. and returned the purse. the woman suffered minor injuries. the man is in jail on 105- thousand dollars bail. one to place another, living 4 or 5 people to a room, living in unstable situations they would like to leave but where there is no where else for them to go.vice principal claudia delarios moran says it's taking a toll on these students academic progress, so now they are looking at a first of its kind alternative. using the school's gymnasiums as a transitional overnight shelter for 20 of these students and their familiessot we can supply a warm dry space for our students that they don't currently have and therefore i think it's imperative for us to do so. under the proposal the city would hire an outside agency to run the so-called "stay over" program and provide services to help the families find permanent housing. soti think it's something we have to trymission district supervisor hillary ronen is spearheading the push to get the city to budget the nearly

estate market here in silicon valley these days.."i'm at the corner of bird and minnesota in willow glen. the sign out fron of this place says "coming soon." the property will reportedly be listed soon for $800,000. as you can see there was a devastating fire here a whileback. it's now a weedy lot surrounded by a fence but it has some appeal for the right buyer. the inventory of homes for sale is at historic lows right now in silcon valley. this property is very close to some key locations like diridon station, dow toensan jose and ighway 87. i asked the santa clara county realtors association's doug goss to weigh in on this property.doug goss/santa clara county realtors assoc. ( darya ) new video this morning ... showing the moments before a driver in a stolen car crashed in san jose. this is an update to a story we first brought you yesterday morning. you can see the car speeding past surveillance cameras. the crash happened on san carlos street, when a man driving west in a stolen hydunai lost control and swerved off into an embankment. he crashed.. and died from his injuries. the two children were also in the car ... they are at the hospital now with life-threatening injuries. ( darya ) happening today. the mayor of san francisco and the police chief are going to update the city on its efforts to prevent car break-ins. just last year ... the number of thefts from vehicles increased 24-percent from the previous year. city officials are calling it an epidemic. a few weeks ago ... police said they have doubled foot patrols to help deter possible theives. we'll keep you posted on today's announcement. ( darya )(ááá2 shotááá) property owners in pacifica are facing a huge fine for fixing a staircase that was ruined in a storm two years ago. ( james ) city officials say the staircase was not approved ... and not built to code. kron 4's charles clifford has the story. well, back in 2016, powerfull storms here in pacifica opened up a sinkhole in a staircase that leads from here along esplande avenue down to the beach below.the staircase is owned by a real estate group that also owns the nearby oceanaire apartments. shortly after the sinkhole appeared, contractors hired by the apartment owners started repairs on the staircase including pouring concrete into the sinkhole. but in california, the california costal commission has to sign off on any work or

construction along the shoreline. the commission says the property owners did not coordiante with them on the repair work. alex helperin is an attorney with the coastal commissionsotno one talked to us for months. we sent out letters right away saying we know this has happened. there are procedures in place that we can work with you to get this taken care of. and we got nothing.the coastal commission has the legal authority to fine the property owners millions of dollars but the two sides were eventually able to sit down and hammer out an agreement. a deal which still needs to be approved by the coastal commission's board. under that proposed agreement, the apartment owners would pay 1.4 dollars in fines and finish repairing the staircase, which has been closed for more than a year now.sotthey have agreed to pay the penalty. to work with us on restoring access. and to work with us on a longterm solution to restore permantely and to ensure that this sort of problem doesn't happen again.the coastal commission is scheduled to vote on the

( james )last weeks big storm left the parking lot at stinson beach severely damaged. yesterday marin county officals were out assessing the damage. the worst of it is still roped off with caution tape. water washed away the ground underneath the concrete... and caused much of the parking lot to collapse. people who live and work in this small beach community say... parking is already an issue... and this is only going to make things worse.

( james ) antioch police are praising some good samaritans after they stopped an attempted laptop theft. it happened at a starbucks on lone tree way... near blue-rock drive. the two thieves entered the store and then returned a short time later, attempting to steal a laptop. that's when customers blocked the door...keeping them from leaving...customers were able to hold one thief down until police came. the second thief was caught shortly after. they were arrested and are now facing grand theft charges. help in identifying a man they say robbed a jewelry store. authorities are looking for this man. police say he robbed vilma's jewelry store on grant avenue in downtown novato monday night. the man was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, a baseball cap and carrying knit caps for sale. ( james )property owners in pacifica are facing a huge fine for fixing a staircase that was ruined in a storm two years ago. city officicals say the staircase was not approved and was not built to code. the staircase is owned by a real estate company. shortly after the storm contractors started repairs on the staricase including pouring concrete in the sinkhole. but the california coastal commission has to sign off on any work done along the shoreline. the commission says no one contacted them about repair work.
