were getting outsot as we were coming up we could see the doors had bulletholes in them and the glass was all shattered.sot as i was going through the patio i found the female that was later determined to be the shooter laying on the ground just outside the doors there.sot i noticed there was a male laying motionless gunshot wound on his chest and first thing i thought was i need to stop the shooter before he is injured.these are the faces of the nine police officers and the dispatcher who were on shift that day.they are faces that often go unnoticed but faces that didn't shy away on that dark tuesday when shooter nasim ahgdam came into a courtyard where many were eating lunch and opened fire. sot there's no time to sit and wait for a swat team or wait for more people or different kinds of weapontry we have to go stop that threat.sot we had over 200 phone calls that we were responsible to answer to make sure that every caller was going to be safe at the end of the day.and to do that....it was no easy task....five and a half acres of youtube property to search....including a room by room track of the almost 200- thousand square foot facility. some of these officers were on scene for 40 hours straight without slowing down or sleeping.the three shooting victims all survived. the gunman, who took her own life, was the only one to die that daytry to call any one of these officers a hero and they are quick to respondsot i don't see myself as such i think any other officer would have done the same thingsot i don't consider myself a hero

three murders in less than a week. but in the five months before that, there were no homicides in richmond.. a longtime record for the city. when that was announced i read it, and i kind of held my breath. it caused a little discomfort. it's only five and a half months. if we were hitting a year or two or three then i would really celebrate. residents tell us although number of homicides are down... there is still a lot of gun violence in their communities. there were many gunshots fired. there were many people hospitalized and that were probably in some condition that they didn't start out in because they were shot.
