in the north bay. a man was sentenced to 60 years behind bars for looting. douglas rosado stole from a hope village group home on spears road last october. witnesses they he was loading items into his truck when confronted. he told them his wife was a former employee and had wanted him to come check on the residents. prosecutors say stolen items were recovered from his home during a probation search. we are getting a first look at a look of a woman accused of shooting her husband. 56-year-old sarah told a police dispatcher that she shot her husband because he treated her badly and she could not take it anymore. she said she used her own gun to shoot him some 18 times. she was arraigned in alameda and is being charged with murder. r multiple people were injured in walnut creek.

that accident happened just before 3:00 this morning. chp officials are investigating the incident as a hit-and-run. two people were taking to a local hot will for minor injuries. all lanes were closed. they have since reopened. investigators are trying to figure out what sparked the kitchen flyer it -- fire in a restaurant. fortunately no one was hurt. firefighters were able to keep the flames from spreading. state police have arrested this man in connection with an alleged gang related killing. police say jay vasquez was wanted as a suspect in the murder of gilroy resident jason contreras. witnesses told officers that vasquez was arguing with contrariness before contreras was found with most of -- multiple moons. -- wounds. if you are headed to the

big news involving one of the 49ers star players. the ex-girlfriend of reuben foster says foster did not attack her. the santa clara district attorney's office has charged foster with domestic violence for an incident involving melissa and his that happened on every 11th. the attorney for her says that their client can prove her injuries were not caused by foster but rather the result of a fight with another woman. her attorney says there is video of that fight. earlier this week for niners general manager said that the team would release foster if the assault allegations were proven true. foss or is not participating in the teams of cells in program. will have much more on the story. a straightforward light from seattle to kansas city turned into a crimes dean aboard and

of burglaries...all linked to the golden state killer. after more than three decades...the suspect was taken into custody today in sacramento kron4's kody liebowitz explains how authorities managed to catch him. district attorney anne marie schubert and ventura county district attorney gregory totten -- announcing capital murder charges against 72-year old joseph james deangelo. he's the man believed to be behind a decade long string of burglaries, rapes and murders spanning from sacramento to the central valley to the bay area and in southern california.while not many details are known about the break-through in this case...we do know it all happened within the last week and it involved dna.anne marie schubert, district attorney/sacramento county "we found the needle in the haystack and it was right here in sacramento."the golden state killer.the east area rapist.the original night stalker.officials say the aliases synonymous with terror in the mid 1970s to mid 1980s across california now has a suspect and another name. joseph james deangelo.former police officer.defendant in

multiple murder cases -- in sacramento and in ventura county.gregory totten, ventura county district attorney "this is a case -- much like the rapes that occurred here in the sacramento area -- literally struck terror in the hearts of ventura county residents.sacramento county district attorney anne marie schubert says the 72-year-old man was not considered a suspect until six days ago. according to sacramento county sheriff scott jones - detectives conducted surveillance on deangelo to learn his habits.he was arrested tuesday.schubert said d-n-a played a role in their case - she called it a "discarded dna sample" but wouldn't add any other specifics.sheriff scott jones, sacramento county "when he came out of his residence, we had a team in place that was able to take him into custody he was very surprised by that." the cases spanned from across two decades..from 1976 to 1986...and 10 counties.. officials say the east area rapist is linked to at least 12 murders, at least 45 rapes and more than 100 burglaries. one case is linked to alameda county... an april 1979 rape in fremont.alameda county district attorney nancy o'malley says that case won't be tried -- the statute of limitations ran out.but today, she says is a day for the victims.nancy o'malley, alameda county district attorney "knowing that he has finally been identified is justice for those victims. - bruce harrington talking (;04) that's bruce harrington.his brother and sister-in-law keith and patrice harrington were allegedly killed in orange county in 1980 by the golden state killer.deangelo has not been charged yet in their deaths. but harrington remembers the toll his family's death took a toll on his late father..bruce harrington "our father at the time (pause) it really destroyed his life. the inability -- discovering them in his house and then trying to cope..."

change as we head into the weekend. on the satellite you can see low pressure spinning off the coast. that low will eventually aproach the bay area this weekend leading to increasing clouds, cooler temperatures and a slight chance of showers mainly to the north. for tomorrow we will start with patchy fog and low clouds. it will slowly burn back to the coast revealing sunshine and cooler temperatures. highs will be in the 60s to low 70s inland with 60s inside the bay. it will be cooler at the coast with highs there in the 50s. the cooling trend will take us right into the weekend too. temperatures will be running below average through this period. there is a slight chance of showers with partly cloudy skies on saturday too. warmer weather will retuirn in the middle of next week. child predator has been reported in santa rosa. a man in a van reportedly used the old fashioned lure of candy to entice a young child. but as kron 4's gayle ong reports.... it didn't work. police are warning parents in santa rosa about two men trying to lure a kid with candy. kron 4's gayle ong has reaction from residents. pkg word is getting out in this santa rosa neighborhood about two men trying to lure a 10 year old boy into a van yesterday afternoonsanta rosa police say the suspects were spotted on brush creek rd. between badger rd. and fistor dr. around 4:30. 12for area residents, it's hard to imagine a child predator is lurking on their same quiet streets. chris siri lived here for 15 years.

(catherine) a company hired by the navy to clean up the hunter's point shipyard - says that it stands by its work there.. the area will eventually be cleared for new housing, retail and office space. the company in question is accused of falsifying soil samples. now, as kron four's philippe djegal reports -- that company is willing to pay for new testing to clear its name. (philippe) when asked directly if he believes the hunter's point naval shipyard in san francisco will ever be habitable... tetra tech's chief engineer bill brownlie says...bill brownlie/tetra tech- "yes." tetra tech is the contractor hired by the u- s navy to clean-up the

shipyard and prepare it for redevelopment. at the start of the year... the navy shared that 50-percent of the soil samples taken at the shipyard were possibly flawed. the environmental protection agency later added that up to 97-percent of the samples were bad. tetra tech says it will pay the navy to hire an independent contractor to re-test the site within a one to two month period.bill brownlie/tetra tech- "we proposed to the the navy that they choose the contractor." in addition to the navy and epa's findings... in a letter dated tuesday... the chairman and c-e-o of tetra tech reached out to the u-s navy. stating that his company is aware of negative allegations made by former employees of a subcontractor. accusations that tetra tech's soil samples at the shipyard are inaccurate. when asked if he believes those allegations are false... bill brownlie says...bill brownlie/tetra tech- "yes." thousands of housing units, and millions of square feet of office and retail space is planned for the shipyard. but the area has been exposed to radioactive material in the past. so, the project can't move forward until it's determined its safe to do so. in san francisco, philippe djegal, kron four news. boulevard exit in walnut creek. authorities say at least four cars were involved.. two people were taken to a local hospital for minor injuries. all lanes were closed while authorities investigated.... but have since reopened.. (catherine) happening now: police are trying to figure out if a string of robberies at trader joe stores are connected. there have been eight robberies at stores in southern california since mid february... they've happened in los angeles, long beach, culver city and irvine... the robberies have followed a similar pattern...with the suspect pulling a gun and demanding moneyfrom employees... (catherine) dallas police say that one of their two officersshot at a home depot yesterday - has died. a third person - a store security guard - was also shot. the two injured officers remain in critical condition. j-d miles has more on what
