officer body-camera video from the las vegas massacre. videos made public today show two officers entering a 32nd-floor hotel room where stephen paddock unleashed gunfire on a concert last october. police say he killed 58 people and injured hundreds more before killing himself as authorities closed in. the video - just a sample of hundreds of hours of recordings - which police say

don't answer 'why' paddock opened fire. more video and 9-1-1 calls will be released in coming months. the sheriff's department says it's a long process... and they're concerned about the effect it could have on victims' families. (vicki) the shock still hasn't worn off for an east bay family who lost a fortune in a home burglary. kron four's philippe djegal reports from hayward... where a victim explains how 100- thousand dollars worth of cash and jewelry were stolen from her house. says she called the police immediately and filed a report. the burglary happened sometime between 830 in the morning and six at night that day. a crime scene technician showed up and documented the evidence. najia/burglary victim- "i keep asking why it happened. um, why me, you know, i'm a good person. i always help poor people. uh, so, its very difficult to come in terms with this." police say this case, right now, doesn't appear to be related to any others. najia believes it's possible the burglars are trying to sell her stolen items at gold stores and pawn shops.najia/burglary victim- "they're not going out of the country to sell these things. you know, there's few shops. and, if there's a system, an email system that like you shoot an email to 50 shops that hey you know, alert those people -- its very easy. you know, it's very easy to catch those people." the hayward police department says a detective has been assigned to this case. right now, investigators don't have any information to release on any possible suspects. in hayward, philippe djegal, kron four news. (vicki) new video tonight showing a violent laptop robbery in berkeley. you

can see a struggle between the two suspects and two witnesses who tried to stop the robbery. this happened on monday at cafe strada on college avenue. police say a man stole a laptop from someone inside. two witnesses tried to stop the man... and hold him until police got there. that's when a get-away car drove up and the driver assaulted one of the witnesses. both suspects then got in the car and drove off. police are still looking for the men tonight. cafe strada has been targeted by thieves before. in february... police arrested 6 people during an undercover sting. (catherine) a big story we're following tonight-- the first death in the e-coli outbreak tied to romaine lettuce.has been reported. and the victim is from california. 121 other people in 25 states have been sickened. 14 of them suffered kidney failure. the e-coli outbreak has been tied to romaine lettuce grown in yuma, arizona... an area that provides most of the

(vicki) we've seen walkouts at schools across the nation in recent weeks as students call for an end to gun violence in the wake of the massacre at parkland, florida. today, more walkouts. but this time students are standing up for the 2nd amendment and gun rights. kron for's rob fladeboe joins us now live from san jose -- where a walkout was planned today -- rob? (rob live) i'm here at the downtown college prep alum rock high school where students were said to be participating in this show of support for the second amendment. but it didn't happen. there was no walkout and there was never going to be one. in a statement issued late today, a school administrator said it was a scurrilous rumor. (vo) but we know that several schools around the country did indeed partcipatein the protest by walking out of school ,similar to the walkout protests we saw last month after the massacre

at a school in parkland, florida. this is video from a school in tigard, oregon, where students walkout outas a way to push back against calls for tougher gun laws. let's hear from one student now. (vicki) a southwest flight makes an emergency landing after a window cracked mid-air. take a look at these images showing the window. the flight from chicago to newark was diverted to cleveland when the window cracked. passengers say they heard a loud noise when it happened. the plane landed safely and nobody was injured. southwest says they are inspecting the plane to figure out what happened. this comes two weeks after a southwest plane made an emergency landing in philadelphia after an engine explosion and a blown out window. a woman who was partly sucked out of that window was killed. (catherine) you might remember the july incident at s-f-o when an air canada plane almost landed on

the wrong spot... in this video you can see its lights....as it comes in for a landing before the pilots realize the mistake.. the video has just been released by the national transportation safety board...we'll show it to you more than once. the plane comes dangerously close to a taxi-way where there were four fully loaded jets... the air canada airliner then suddenly swoops upward...when the pilots saw they were 'not' looking at their runway. the f-a-a, meantime - has determined that three of five close calls in the last 16 months at s-f-o have been because of pilot error. including incidents where planes lined up for the wrong runways or taxi-ways. brought sunshine and warm temperatures to the bay area today. low clouds and fog lingered at the coast to keep temperatures much cooler and in the 50s and 60s. it is breezy again tonight especially near the coast. low clouds and fog will begin to move back into the bay and coast tonight and we could even see some coastal drizzle. doppler radar is showing a few more showers over the sierra and even a couple of snowflakes over the highest peaks. on the satellite you can see the low pressure center moving futher east while high pressure builds along the coast. temperatures will be similar again tomorrow with highs in the 60s and 70s around the bay, 70s and sunny inland, and patchy fog and 50s and 60s at the coast. friday will be tgeh warmest day of the week with some highs moving into the 80s in the warmest locations inland. it will begin to cool this weekend with a few more clouds, but it will stay dry and warmer into next week. if you think bay area freeways have become more crowded ... the state finance department may have an explanation. its annual report estimates that nearly 60=thousand new residents moved here in the last year. and three quarters of them moved into the east and south bay. santa clara county gained the most residents ... 19=thousand in all.alameda and contra costa were next.san francisco found room to add almost a thousand new residents last year.in the north bay, napa and sonoma counties recorded population declines..the steepest drop was in the

unincorporated parts of both counties,.that's where thousands of homes were lost in the wine country fires. santa clara was not only the top county .. the city of santa clara gained the most residents among smaller towns ... eleven people moving there every day.also on the list: dublin and newark in alameda county and brentwood in the far eastern part of contra costa county. (catherine) tonigth at six - we'll talk to dublin's mayor about why his city is attracting new residents. (vicki ) as catherine mentioned...one of the fastest growing cities in the state is newark in alameda county. kron4's maureen kelly went there to find out why. has several communities in it in total 2500 homes were approved and just now you're seeing those homes are being built and occupied quickly and at least from what we've heard from the developers building the communities the homes are selling very very quickly that's probably due to the increase in jobs related to the internet companies around here here's the signs pointing the way to all of the things newark is close to....it's proximity to silicon valley & the 880 freeway are just two reasons why newark saw a 4- percent spike last year ...bumping their population up over 47-thousand. putting them on the california department of finance's list of fastest cities in the state. newark is still very affordable to the rest of the bay area

(vicki) cambridge analytica is shutting down. the controversial data firm worked on president donald trump's 2016 campaign. it had also come under scrutiny after facebook said the firm used information on millions of facebook users without their knowledge. today's closure announcement claims that quote "unfairly negative media coverage" of the controversy... drove away its customers and suppliers. the company has denied any wrongdoing -- saying that it has "unwavering confidence that its employees have acted ethically and lawfully." cambridge analytica said it will immediately cease operations. starbucks -- have made a deal with the city and the coffee company. donte robinson and rashon nelson settled separately with the city of philadelphia for one-dollar each. city officials also promised to set up a 200- thousand dollar program for young entrepreneurs. robinson and nelson will develop and run that program. the duo met with the ceo of starbucks earlier this week...officials say the meeting did include a financial settlement. robinson and nelson gained national were arrested at starbucks on april 12th...after the manager called police on them....while they were waiting for a potential business partner. (vicki) happening now.... a meeting is being held right now ... as a school district is set to vote on changes to their sex ed class. this comes as parents are upset with fremont school board officials over the curriculum being taught. kron4's will tran has the details. many fremont parents are upset accusing the school district of having material in their sex education course that is too graphic for fourth graders.(arun romani/parent-we have r rated content from movies. and anyone going through the content will clearly see the content is r rated)in many places in the country sex ed is being taught to elementary school kids. fremont parents say kids need to learn about their bodies and how it changes but they were caught off guard by what they saw was being taught to their kids(arun romani-how we found out is they sent us a link and once the parents started to go through the material that's when we found out how bad the material is) the school district heard from

the parents for months and is finally willing to listen to their concerns over the course and the material.parents want school officials to know they are not against sex ed being taught(rachel solima/parent -- i'm one of the parents that is for it because i'm one of the parents who did learn about it in school. i think parents need to teach it too but i'm one of the parents who is for it in school and my kids would be part of that)(will tran stand up-the parents say they want to work with the school district over the material before it's exposed to their kids. they point out that other nearby school districts don't even teach their students sex education at such a young age. in fremont will tran kron4 news. (catherine) the boy scouts are changing their name.

beginning in february of 2019, programs for older scouts will be called "scouts b-s-a." the boy scouts of america said the change is part of an expansion that will welcome girls into the organization. the only boy scouts program affected by the change is the one for teenagers aged eleven to 17. the cub scouts program for children aged five through ten -- will keep its name. tonight at 5:30... kron 4 is always tracking local stories. here's a look at what's going on in your neighborhood...(vicki) in the north bay... a napa man accused of exposing himself to children... is now facing child porn and molestation charges. we first told you about the arrest of ronald fryer last week. he's accused of exposing himself near oran court... as kids walked past him on their way to school. after that arrest... police searched fryer's home and say they found a large amount of child pornography. officers also say their

investigation led them to believe fryer had been molesting children he knew for several decades. . (vicki) in sonoma county... a former boys and girls club director convicted of sexually abusing young boys... will spend the rest of his life in prison. 70-year-old paul kilgore was sentenced to 150 years to life in prison this morning. kilgore was arrested back in 2016... after police connected him to a string of child molestation cases dating back to 20-10. kilgore was working as a child mentor and athletic director. he worked at the sonoma valley boys and girls club for 10 years before resigning in 2013. (catherine) in the south bay.... authorities in santa clara county say so- called "distraction burglars" are targeting the elderly. they pose as utility workers - and tell victims they need to entertheir homes to check equipment or talk about their bills. once inside and out of view - they take what they want. the phony workers usually communicate with each other using walkie-talkies...

instead of cell phones... to avoid detection. (vicki) in the east bay... the oakland city council has agreed to new limits on plastic straws. the new legislation will prohibit the use of plastic straws in the city's dine-in restaurants... bars and cafes unless the customer asks for one. americans reportedly throw away 500-million plastic straws every day. city council members say that poses a threat to the environment. a final draft of the legislation will be voted on in about six months and could include restrictions on other disposable containers. if approved... the new regulations will go into effect immediately. (vicki) the city of oakland is taking steps to make sure students have safe drinking water at schools. last night the city council voted to provide new drinking fountains to 110 schools in the oakland unified school district. the idea for this project came after the district found elevated levels of lead at mcclymonds high school back in 2017. the project will be paid for with money from oakland's soda tax. the district plans to

(catherine) the attorney for the man accused of being the golden state killer is trying to limit additional evidence from being gathered... this is joseph deangelo when he was in court last week... today his public defender asked the court to stop any more evidence linked to a search warrant from being collected. the sacramento bee reports that she also wants to stop prosecutors from taking more d-n-a samples. the suspect - a 72-year-former police officer - is accused of being the killer responsible for at least a dozen murders and 50 rapes, from 1976 to 1986. he was arrested last week. released stephon clark's official autopsy report yesterday. investigators are calling the family's private autopsy findings erroneous....citing significant differences. reporter shirin (sure-in) rajaee (ra-jay) has the story. one month ago forensic pathologist dr. bennet omalu, hired by the clark family legal team, revealed the results of his private autopsy report. dr. omalu said stephon clark was shot 8 times by sacramento police- with 6 of those shots hitting him in the back. his findings fueled protests in the streets of sacramento but now- "this is a very thorough and comprehensive report that was signed off on by four pathologists."sacramento police released the county coroners official autopsy report wednesday that showed stark differences with dr. omalu's findings. the county's report indicates that clark was shot seven times - not eight - and three of the shots - not six - were fired into his back.the toxicology report also reveals that clark had cocaine, marijuana and codeine in his system. "based on dr omalu's findings and the family autopsy, it suggests all bullets were from behind." back in march, dr. omalu said clark was not facing officers at the time of the shooting. that the first gunshot wound was on clark's left side, and the force of that bullet spun him around. but according to one of the county pathologist reviewing the autopsy: "the left thigh was likely the

first shot" and "at no time does the video show clark to have the left side of his body facing the officer's position as shots are fired" meanwhile, clark's cousin says he's not sure if he can trust the county's report and will continue his fight. "i just want justice for him and want him to know they're gonna get away with this." in the nation - inthe e-coli outbreak tied to romaine lettuce... and the victim is from california. 121 other people in 25 states have been sickened. joining us live now via skype is pat buck. she's with the center for foodborne illness research and prevention. pat - you say this is a particularly serious strain of e-coli. what should people be doing to protect themselves? the first death has been reported in a national food poisoning outbreak linked to romaine lettuce.federal health officials say california reported the death, but they did not provide other details. the government now has reports of 121 people who got sick in 25 states. at least 52 people have been hospitalized, including 14 with kidney failure, which is an unusually high number of hospitalizations.the centers for disease control and prevention updated the numbers wednesday.kentucky,

bonus on your automobile is now required for all new cars in the u-s. rearview cameras and video displays will be featured in all new passenger vehicles. congress passed the law in 2008... but automakers had several years to get ready for the change. the measure is intended to help drivers avoid accidents. more than 200 people are killed every year in backover crashes and more than 12-thousand are injured. (vicki) and ford...has unveiled a "smart window" for the visually impaired. the prototype technology -- called "feel the view" -- works like this:a window camera takes pictures of the view outside. similar to how letters are translated into braille, the pictures are translated into vibrations. the images are reproduced as a gray-scale rendering on the window glass. when a person touches it, the gray shades vibrate at different frequencies. this enables the user to "feel" the image and mentally recreate the view.

(catherine) the parkland, florida school shooting in february rocked the nation, creating a huge response. that's mostly because of the way the students there responded.. (vicki) the anti-gun movement they started lit a spark across the nation .. but there are two views to this issue.. pam moore is in the newsroom to explain. pam? "after columbine a lot of people thought this is a one off incident. this is an anomoly not going to happen again. then there was sandy hook was really young children. but with the parkland kids - they remember a time before sandy hook when we didn't do lock down drills. and they have fearlessly pursued what they feel is absolutely necessary." on march 24th- the day of the national demonstrations... that fearlessness spread across the country .. "we are done with thoughts and prayers. it is time for us..the youth to stand up ..walk out.. shout it loud and make change". lily spoke at the huge and diverse rally in downtown oakland..last month jada went to washington

d.c. with a delegation of kids from the east oakland youth development center. "it was really powerful to see a lot of other people marching for the same reason i'm marching".. "the examples of people like me who have been communities highly affected by gun violence" "we live in a violence has become the norm.. not the live in a world don't feel safe to go to school..." "we're gonna be the ones who change this. it's not anybody has done it for us. so we are the are going to be that really makes gun violence and prevention. inches. still caltrans chose to reopen the roadway. and between 530 and 550 there were three motorcycle crashes near that lane. after the third crash the chp closed lane 1 saying that lip may have been a contributing factor to all three accidents. did caltrans make a mistake in opening up that unpaved lane. sotwe have to review everything that happened here, so we will get together and review everything that happened and if we have to make any changes we will. lane 1 remained closed until 4 so it could be repaved. now with lanes one and two paved, there is a lip between lanes 2 and 3.. but does not appear to be as deep as the one from the morning.

well, it's defintiely a critical game... it's always harder chasing a team in a playoff series on the road... so tonight the sharks will want to take advantage of their home ice... a place wehre they typically play well and have shown they can bounce back after tough losses.. this is where we see what the sharks are made of.. they were without one of their best wingers on the first line in game 3.. head coach pete deboer is not giving any hints on if donskoi is returning or any clues as to changes to the lineups before this game...and you can't change the fact that the golden knights goaltending has been amaznig... fleury with 94 percent save rate this series. continues to be a tough test for the sharks... san jose with 30 shots on goal at even strength had some great chances, even in o-t... deboer says it's playoff hockey... consistency is key.. temperatures to the bay area today. low clouds and fog lingered at the coast to keep temperatures much cooler and in the 50s and 60s. it is breezy again tonight especially near the coast. low clouds and fog will begin to move back into the bay and coast tonight and we could even see some coastal drizzle. doppler radar is showing a few more showers over the sierra and even a couple of snowflakes over the highest peaks. on the satellite you can see the low pressure center moving futher east while high pressure builds along the coast. temperatures will be similar again tomorrow with highs in the 60s and 70s around the bay, 70s and sunny inland, and patchy fog and 50s and 60s at the coast. friday will be tgeh warmest day of the week with some highs moving into the 80s in the warmest locations inland. it will begin to cool this weekend with a few more clouds, but it will stay dry and warmer into next week.next week.
