(j.r.)one of the two victims involved in this case was tied up and robbed of the marijuana they were growing on their property. there have now been around half a dozen cases like this in the county but one

neighbor i talked with said this should send a message to the victim.she was dealing near a school and shouldn't do that....the home invasion happened wednesday morning but wednesday night a search warrant was served where this home invasion happened. look at the bags of evidence that detectives walked out with. it appears marijuana was in some of those bags. a sgt. tells me the home invasion happened at around 9:30 in the morning. one robber came in through the front door the other came in through the back door. at least one of the two people inside where tied up and robbed at gunpoint. fortunately those victims are okay. authorities say the motive here was marijuana. grow permits are legal in sonoma county but it doesn't appear as though the homeowner

says burglars got away with more than 100-thousand dollars worth of cash, jewelry and electronics. authorities say the home burglary happened on monday... april 16th... on the southside of the city. a police report has been filed. the victim believes the thieves are trying to sell the stolen items at local gold stores and pawn shops.(sot)

punched in the face. kron 4's justine waldman has more details on what happened. the man in the hoodie, according to police, tried to take a laptop from a person sitting at caffe strada, when two other men stepped in and holding him from getting away. when second suspect comes in and punches one of the good samaritans in the face. sergeant andrew frankel / berkeley police department sot it takes courage to put yourself in harms way under those circumstances we do not encourage members of the community to do that because you do not know what could happen nextthe suspects drop the laptop and run to a waiting blue chevy impala. police have the license plate number of the car that speed away south on college.the coffee shop on bancroft is popular with u.c. berkeley students.and laptop thieves. after a series of stolen laptops from here police set up an undercover sting on february, and arrested 6 people.and the crimes stopped, until this robbery and assault happened on mondaysot when we have talked to the people we have caught they have admitted we look for the people who are not paying attention and they

( robin )a feature that was once a bonus on your car.... will now be required for all ánew vehicles in the u-s. a federal regulation took effect wednesday requiring rearview cameras... and video displays in all new passenger vehicles. congress passed the law in 2008... but automakers had several years to get ready for the change. the measure is intended to help drivers avoid accidents. rearview cameras and video displays are already included on many higher-end models... and vehicles with extra safety packages. but now... they

( robin )this morning east bay parents are learning the fremont unified school district decided it's 7th through 9th grade students will be taught sex education. however... its 4th through 6th grade students won't be. this after parents meet last night in freemont.. saying that the content of the course... was too sexual for young kids. kron 4's ali reid was at that meeting... and spoke to parents. pkgthe majority of parents in this room aren't saying they're opposed to sex ed. what they're opposed to ..... is the proposed curriculum. they believe it's too graphic. one of the scenarios was 2 girls and they decided to make out with each other. and one of the girls already tried a few male partners. and one day when their parents weren't home, they decided to try sex with each otherunlike many other districts, fremont unified chooses to teach sex ed to 4th graders. and because of that, the law mandates that additional components need to

be added to their sex and puberty education .need to talk about gender identity and sexual orientation, sterotyping, and other things that weren't included in the previous law.some parents are all for it "as is"they need this to prevent bullying so that children who are not heterosexual do not get bullied by children who the silence and shame approach isn't working.others stronly oppose they don't understand the consequence.i'm concerned about this curriculum because it endorcces a lot of irresponsible sexual behaviors. ( robin )for your health this morning... the first death has been reported in a national e- coli outbreak linked to romaine lettuce.... and the

victim is from california. federal health officials would not say where in the state the person lives. so far... 121 other people in 25 states have been sickened... 14 of them suffering kidney failure. the outbreak is linked to romaine lettuce grown in yuma, arizona... an area that provides most of the romaine sold in the u-s during the winter. the c-d-c continues to warn consumers to not buy or eat romaine lettuce... unless you can confirm it is not from the yuma, arizona region. ( robin )about 100-people in california have contracted norovirus in the past week.. from eating raw oysters from british columbia canada. the state department of health put out the warning. the agency says, there is a possible risk of illness from consuming oysters ... canada has reported more than 170- cases of norovirus. ( robin ) playing tackle football at a young age could lead to cognitive and emotional problems much earlier in life. that's

according to a new study neurology." researchers studied the brains of nearly 250 football players... 211 of them were diagnosed with c-t-e after death. they discovered those who started playing before age 12 showed symptoms of brain disease earlier than those who got a later start. researchers found those who played tackle football as children and were later diagnosed with c-t-e... suffered from cognitive impairment and mood swings much earlier in their lives. they also found they experienced problems with memory, planning and organizing skills and struggled with depression and aggression by an average of 13 years earlier. the man accused of being the golden state killer will be back in court this morning... fighting efforts to collect more of his d-n-a. joseph deangelo's attorney is trying to block prosecutors from taking d-n-a... fingerprints and pictures of deangelo's body. deangelo is a former police officer. he was arrested last week near sacramento. he's a suspect in at least 12 murders and more than 50 rapes between 1976 and 1986. prosecutors say they used d-n-a and a ancestry website to track down deangelo. ( robin )in sonoma county... a former boys and girls club director convicted of sexually abusing young boys... will spend the rest of his life in prison. 70-year-old paul kilgore.... was sentenced to 150-years to life in prison

wednesday morning. kilgore was arrested back in 20-16... after police connected him to a string of child molestation cases... dating back to 20-10. kilgore was working as a child mentor and athletic director. he worked at the sonoma valley boys and girls club for 10- years.... before resigning in 20-13. ( robin )the federal aviation administration announced wednesday that ápilot errorá was to blame for 3 of 5 close calls... involving planes landing in s-f-o over the past 16 months. kron 4's charles clifford went to s-f-o.. and has the lastest on this investigation. this is sfo surveillance this is sfo surveillance video from july 7th 2017. . on the right hand side of the screen you can see an air canada jet on approach to land when it flies right over the top of four aircraft

waiting to take off. fortuantly the plane pulls up just in time.. this particualr incident is still under investigation.but in three other cases the f-a-a concluded pilot error was to blame. in december 2016, a skywest pilot landed on the wrong runway and narrowly missed hitting another plane. in october of last year, another air canada crew almost landed on a plane waiting to take off but was alerted at the last moment. and earlier this year an aeromexico flight was ordered to abort a landing because it was about to strike a plane on the ground. the f-a-a did conclude that in one case late last year, an air traffic controller mistakenly cleared a jet to land on a runway where a virgin america plane was watiting to take off. fortuantly, they were able to correct the error in time.now, sfo officials say that they have made safety improvements at the airport including adding lights along the runways, upgrading the ground radar system, and closing a problematic taxiwa they also released a statement today saying that

safety is our highest priority, and sfo has a safety culture focused on continuous improvement and collaboration. ( robin ) a southwest flight made an emergency landing in cleveland after a window cracked ... mid- air. take a look at these images showing the window. the flight from chicago to newark was diverted to cleveland when the window cracked. passengers say, they heard a loud noise when it happened. the plane landed safely and nobody was injured. southwest says... it is inspecting the plane to figure out what happened. this comes just two weeks after a southwest plane made an emergency landing in philadelphia.. because of an engine explosion and a blown out window. a woman who was partly sucked out of that window ... was killed. ( robin )back here at home... city council officials approved a plan to build

additional boarding gates at san jose mineta airport. the temporary facility will offer four gates... a hold room with seating for 400 -travelers... a concession space and restrooms. the project will cost about 50- million dollars... and is set to open next summer. the makeshift terminal will be used for up to seven- years, while the airport plans construction for permanent new gates. ( robin )the puerto rico national guard says nine of its crew members were killed wednesday... when a military cargo plane nose-dived into a georgia highway. you can see the w-c-130 plane falling out of the sky... and heading straight to the ground. the plane was flying from savannah, georgia.... to tucson, arizona on its final military flight.... when it went down shortly after takeoff. the plane was scheduled to be decommissioned once it arrived in arizona. the cause of the crash remains under investigation. ( robin )a new report reveals... the golden state's population grew by more than 300-thousand people last year. that means just under 40- million people live here now... and one of the fastest growing cities in the state... áis newark. kron4's maureen kelly tells us why that alameda county city... is now so popular. (maureen)i'm standing in the middle of one of the reasons that newark made this list in the first place.it's one of several developments being built in an area called bayside newarkthe city's deputy community development director is holding up the plan for this area.....you can see how it's been carved up into several sections... it has several communities in it in total 2500 homes were approved and just now you're seeing those homes are being built and occupied quickly and at least from what we've heard from the developers building the communities the homes are selling very very quickly that's probably due to the

increase in jobs related to the internet companies around here here's the signs pointing the way to all of the things newark is close to....it's proximity to silicon valley & the 880 freeway are just two reasons why newark saw a 4- percent spike last year ...bumping their population up over 47-thousand. putting them on the california department of finance's list of fastest cities in the state. newark is still very affordable to the rest of the bay areacongratuations... inside the sales office of the bayshores housing development...some buyers shake hands on a deal on home here. they range from condos starting in the high 900- thousand high 900-thousand dollar range to single family homes at a million and a half. who's moving in? a lot of young professionals, engineers a lot of facebook actually so that's our biggest buyer profile out here or tech the community development director says there are still several other developments in town under construction and the projects here in bayside

monday at cafe strada on college avenue. police say a man stole a laptop from someone inside. the two good samaritans tried to stop him. but a getaway car drove up... and the driver helped the thief get away. ( darya ) a thief is now behind bars after a woman was assaulted and robbed near u-c berkley. it happened tuesday night near bancroft way and fulton street. the theif got out of a car...punched a woman in the face...and took her laptop. the person then got back into their car and drove away. shortly after an officer pulled over a car that matched the decription of the one involved in the robbery and arrested the driver. ( james ) in the north bay... a former marin county coroner will spend 1 year in jail for sexually abusing his own daughter. darrell harris must also register as a sex offender... and stay away from his daughter for 10 years. harris pleaded guilty to one felony charge back in january... after making a deal with prosecutors. the judge called the deal
