(robin) san jose police continue investigating an officer involved shooting. the shooting happened on sunday morning... officers were shot at, but no one was hurt. kron 4's sara stinson was at the scene and has the details. san jose police arrested at

least one person at the scene on 10th street after shots rang out. police say no one was actually hit by the gunfire, but witnesses say they saw one person being taken to the hospital with other injuries. ("and then a few minutes later i saw a young man that was loaded on the gurney, loaded into the ambulance." what did he look like? "he was a young man probably about 10 years old, sitting upright so he wasn't laying down so they loaded him up and took him to the hospital.")moments after police tapped off the streets from 9th until 10th street and from san salvador street to reed street as they thoroughly investigated the scene. officers interviewed dozens of people at the nearby homes and businesses. ("large police presence all streets are blocked off.")in the mean time people like brian jennings are confused about how this could happen so close a shooting to san jose state.("because it's normally quiet as the college is right behind us and it's usually quiet just students out having fun on the weekends.")police have not confirmed many details about

this incident as they are investigating two seperate shootings in san jose within 24 hours. they plan on having a formal press conference monday morning.reporter tag: ("in san jose, sara stinson, kroon 4 news.")### (robin) in the east bay... police say a distracted driver is to blame for a nasty car wreck. concord police department tweeted out this photo. officers say the driver took a sharp left turn... too fast. the car veared off the road and drove up a telephone pole... causing it to roll over. the driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. . (robin) an east bay family wants to know who would destroy a memorial they built for their two young daughters... who died in a car crash. the cardoza

family put up two crosses for their girls... 4-year old lenexy and 2-year old camila ... at the intersection in anitoch where a truck smashed into their car. their mother survived the crash in january. the family says the destruction only adds to their grief. but they did replace the broken crosses... and are working to build a permenant memorial. (robin) two people are in custody after a shooting a bowling alley in daly city. this is cell phone video from the shooting at classic bowling center on king drive. the shooting happened last weekend. police say khejon nelson of oakley and taisia fauolo of vallejo were arrested in connection with the shooting. officials say a fight started between two groups of people before one person was shot. the victim is still at a hospital and is in critical condition. (robin) a driver apparently stepped on the gas instead of the break pedal...and crashed into a donut shop in the south bay. one person was injured.

(robin) take a look at this... mendocino got some help from sonoma county... rescuing four teenagers. the boys climbed out on some rocks to enjoy a day of fishing. but firefighters say they weren't watching the tide roll in. so when they decided to call it a day... they couldn't get back to safety without having to get into the water. sonoma county crews were able to rescue the 4 boys and get their gear off the rocks... all within 7 minutes. no one was hurt. (robin) mother nature is causing major problems on hawaii's big island. a volcano has destroyed more than two-dozen homes. and the area experienced its most powerful earthquake in decades. john lorinc reports.

(robin)a san francisco girl is one of the first in the country to become a boy scout. she and her family spoke to kron 4's hermela aregawi about what inspired her to join the scouts. jordan fong is the first girl in san francisco to join boy scouts.the organization says it's working to be more inclusive.so girls like jordan.. who has been with the girls scouts for four years.. are switching over. jordan says.. seeing her older brother take part in the group's activities inspired her. jordan fong/one of first to join scouts bsawhat i saw there was really good archery. and rock-climbing and horse-riding which i really like. and what made me want to do it more was i thought all the activities that i would get to do in boyscouts.

(robin) an elderly woman was hit and killed while crossing the street on cinco de mayo. as kron 4's ali reid reports, the pedestrian was only a few feet from her home when tragedy struck. there was a big scare at the stevenson house senior community saturday evening ... when residents heard sirens outside.i heard them stop here and i said oh no, because you wonder who it is they're coming after.emergency services were there for one of the tenants who was in her 80's. the reason was the last thing on her neighbors' minds. police say after visiting friends on cinco de mayo, the

senior citizen was dropped off. while crossing east charleston road to get home, an oncoming vehicle hit and killed her.she tried to walk diagonally across the street right here about 8:30.before getting to the curb, tragedy struck.it is very sadi think either she didn't see the car, or the car didn't see hershe was struck by the vehicle and moved along with the vehilce. we dont know if she was dragged or knocked in the air. all those things will have to be figured out.neighbors say this is a very busy roadway ... with cars driving by day and night. crosswalks are not closeby, so folks sometimes take a chance.sometimes it's really hard to cross the street because it's so busy. and so you make it out to the center divider and then wait. police say the driver of the red toyota pickup ... a woman in her 20's ... remained on scene and cooperated with police. she was cleared to go after no signs of drugs or alcohol were detected. the

investigation is still ongoing. reporting from palo alto ... ali reid ... kron 4 news. (robin) in the east bay, sheriffs deputies found the body of a boater who went missing over a week ago near the antioch bridge. it was later identified as 39- year-old johnson ng of daly city. an autoptsy is scheduled to determine his cause of death. initial reports from deputies said two men were on a boat trying to set an anchor to start fishing when a wake came along. the other man survived. (robin) officials are warning bay area residents to be aware of rattlesnakes after two people reported being biten in the last few weeks. the east bay regional park district issued a warning on friday after a teenager was biten near mount diablo state park. just last month, a 79-year-old man was bitten twice at mount tam state park. both survived the bites but park officials warn that as the weather heats up ...

(robin) a richmond family is reunited with their beloved french bull dog... mack...after he was stolen from their backyard. kron 4's ella sogomonian talked with the family. they are overjoyed after weeks of worry.back in the end of february - video surveillence captured the moment a man grabbed the family pet from their yard and ran off, the report circulated on social media and got the attention mack needed to get back home. pkga richmond family watched in awe as their cameras caught this man on their front porch who then went around the back, opened their dog kennel and stole their french bull dog mack.sot: michelle, dog owner// "i didn't know where he was so i missed him."they called kron 4 immediately and had faith they would find mack with the help of a news report. the dog owner says: (dubbed from spanish)sot: silvia navarro, dog owner// "at first we were hopeful but the days passed and people sent us photo after photo and it wasn't him. so we kept losing that hope."two months later mack is back home thanks to a vigilant couple that noticed social media posts of reprots that he was missing.the family says that couple was looking to breed their own dog and were offered mack by a man who brought the him to their place.

(robin) an infant died after being mauled by a dog in sherman oaks, a suburb north of los angeles police say the attack happened saturday inside a home the three- month-old infant was taken to the hospital in critical condition. police later announced the child had died. animal control was called and the dog is now with them.

(robin) the june election is just a month away, and some dramatic changes are ahead for registered voters in san mateo county. going forward, they will be receiving their ballots in the mail... as kron 4's dan kerman tells us, those ballots will begin arriving as soon as today. with election day just a month away, there's a flurry of activity going on at san mateo county's election headquarters. what sets june's election apart from those in the past, is every registered voter in san mateo county will be receiving their ballot in the mail, which they can then fill out at home and mail in or drop off some voters think that's a great ideasotit give everyone time to think about their choice and make sure on the day they need to vote and no one has to take time out of their busy day to do it so it's fantastic

san mateo county tried this mail in concept for a local election back in 20i5. now it's one of 5 counties in the state to take advantage of the california voter's choice act which clears the way for this shift to mailing in ballotssot i don't feel comfortable or safe about it, i'd still rather drop it off and do it manually and make sure i see where it goesfor voters who are not excited about the new mail in system, there are other options. while san mateo county's more tha 200 neighborhood polling places will no longer exist, there will be 39 vote centers throughout the county, some opening as early as next week where voters will be able to cast their ballots in person. elections officials think this combinaton of early voting and mail in ballots will make a huge difference.áásot mark church/chief elections office, san mateo county 126-136the fact that it will make voting easy and convenient and will provide for increased voting opportunities, expand early voting and we believe the

since the shooting at a sutherlin, texas church where 26 people were killed and about 20 others wounded. the shooting has devastated the small texas town east of san antonio, described as a place where "everybody knows everybody." reporter david cal-ta-biano was there to talk to members about what's ahead. (robin) one of the victims of the deadly shooting at a nashville-area waffle house was honored this weekend... 21-year-old de-ebony groves' lost her life in the waffle house shooting. her family and classmates paid tribute to her at the graduation ceremony for belmont university. groves' mother -- shirl baker walked the stage to accept her daughter's diploma in social work. university officials announced the creation of a social work scholarship in de-ebony groves' honor. (robin) first lady melania trump will announce her formal platform today during an event in the white house rose garden. it will be her first speech from that location. most first ladies in modern times have chosen an issue to promote or focus upon during their tenure. before the

(robin) a 90-year-old arizona man has made history by being the oldest driver ever in a nascar event. hershel mcgriff competed in two races at the tucson speedway saturday night. he also played the national anthem on his trombone before the race -- and said he was more nervous about that than the high speeds on the race track. mcgriff was a nascar driver in his youth and won four races in 1954. mcgriff did not win saturday night ... but he's won 35 races in his career ... the most recent in 1989.

(robin) more than 15 puppies in training showed up on the red carpet for the ádoclands documentaryá film festival in san rafael. the screening was on sunday afternoon. the documentary "pick of the litter" follows the journey of five puppies as they train to become guide dogs for the visually impaired. the film features local san rafael school, guide dogs for the blind, which is the largest guide dog school in north america. the film's directors were on hand for a q-and-a session along with the school's c-e-o. on strike today across the university of california system. ucsf hospital staff are among those set to walkout in a three-day strike as they demand fair and equal wages. the strike is planned by a major union representing university employees ranging from janitors to security guards to nurses. uc employees from this union and three others in the bay area will be walking out to demand that the university system make wages fair and equal for all genders. these are issues these unions have been discussing for years. additionally, employees say they are sick of jobs being outsourced to private contractors. staff at uc's six medical centers say the current wages impact the

( james ) one person is dead... after a motorcycle and a napa county fire engine collide. the crash happened yesterday on highway 128 near lake hennessey. the name of the person killed has not been released. ( james ) an elderly woman -- walking just feet from her home -- is hit and killed while crossing the street. the woman was in her 80's. the crash happened on east charleston road in palo alto. the woman was ánot in a crosswalk. the driver who hit the woman... stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators. police say the driver isn't facing

( darya ) vandals destroyed an east bay memorial for two young girls who died in a car crash. the family says the destruction only adds to their grief. the cardoza family put up two crosses for their girls... 4-year old lenexy and 2-year old camila ... at the intersection in anitoch where a truck smashed into their car. their mother survived the crash in january. the family did replace the broken crosses... and are working to build a permenant memorial. ( darya ) one person is injured after a car crashed into a donut shop in the south bay. it happened over the weekend at donut basket in milpitas. investigators say a driver accidentally stepped on the gas pedal instead of the breaks. the car jumped the curb, hitting a man who was walking by. the victim was taken to a trauma center with non-life threatening injuries. a woman who owns a salon in the same shopping center says this is the second time a car has crahsed into the donut shop. ( darya ) firefighters quickly put out a fire at the santa rosa seafood market and restaurant. crews say the fire caused 400-thousand dollars worth of damage. it mainly burned in the

( james ) police arrested a man for having 15 pounds of meth in gilroy. officers say juan quintero-sicarios was bring large quantities of meth into gilroy. a search warrant was also served at his home in monterey county. police say gilroy is a popular destination for drug traffickers because its linked to the major highways. ( james ) hundreds of guns were traded in at a gun buyback in san mateo county. more than 3-hundred people made some extra cash in redwood city. the sheriff's department paid up to 100-dollars for handguns, shotguns, and rifles... and up to 200-dollars for assault weapons. the money was raised by a local group who say they were inspired after the parkland shooting in florida. ( james ) an elderly woman -- walking just feet from her home -- is hit and killed while crossing the street. the woman was in her 80's. the crash happened on east charleston road in palo alto. the woman was ánot in a crosswalk. the driver who hit the woman... stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators. police say the driver isn't facing charges. ( darya ) in the east bay... police say a distracted driver is to blame for a horrific car wreck. concord police department tweeted out this photo. officers say the driver took a sharp left turn... too fast. the car veared off the road and drove up a telephone pole... causing it to roll over. amazingly, the driver had minor injuries. ( darya ) vandals destroyed an east bay memorial for two young girls who died in a car crash. the family says the destruction only adds to their grief. the

help from sonoma county... rescuing four teenagers. the boys climbed out on some rocks to enjoy a day of fishing. but firefighters say they weren't watching the tide roll in. so when they decided to call it a day... they couldn't get back to safety without having to get into the water. sonoma county crews were able to rescue the 4 boys and get their gear off the rocks... all within 7 minutes. no one was hurt. injured after a car crashed into a donut shop in the south bay. it happened over the weekend at donut basket in milpitas. investigators say a driver accidentally stepped on the gas pedal instead of the breaks. the car jumped the curb, hitting a man who was walking by. the victim was taken to a trauma center with non-life threatening injuries. a woman who owns a salon in the same shopping center says this is the second time a car has crahsed into the donut shop. ( darya ) firefighters quickly put out a fire at the santa rosa seafood market and restaurant. crews say the fire caused 400-thousand dollars worth of damage.

( james ) police arrested a man for having 15 pounds of meth in gilroy. officers say juan quintero-sicarios was bring large quantities of meth into gilroy. a search warrant was also served at his home in monterey county. police say gilroy is a popular destination for drug traffickers because its linked to the major highways. ( james ) hundreds of guns were traded in at a gun buyback in san mateo county. more than 3-hundred people made some extra cash in redwood city. the sheriff's department paid up to 100-dollars for handguns, shotguns, and rifles... and up to 200-dollars for assault weapons. the money was raised by a local group who say they were inspired after the parkland shooting in florida.
