(robin) a man and a woman are found dead inside a north bay home and police say the deaths are being considered suspicious. it happened in petaluma on the 47-hundred block of roblar road. police were conducting a wellness check after the woman's sister said she hadn't seen the two in about a month. police say the grass was very tall and unkept and mail was piling up in the mailbox. the violent crimes unit is investigating. (robin) a 17-year-old boy is recovering ... after being robbed at gunpoint... police are still looking for those responsible... it happened in downton palo alto... kron4's ali reid has the details. the teen was hit in the head and suffered minor injuries after refusing to hand over

his cell phone .... even while being held at gunpoint.pkg police say the 17 year old was on his cellphone while walking downtown. when he got to the lytton and kipling intersection, 3 suspects approached him and demanded his phone. he refused to hand it over. authorities say the suspects pulled out a gun, pointed it at the teen and told him to get on the ground. once again, he refused. it then got physical.they produced a gun and didn't get the results they were looking for so they physically punched him in the headthe victim was knocked to the ground. at that point, his cell phone, cash, and belongings were stolen. authorities say the suspects took off and hopped into a black 4 door sedan where the getaway driver was waiting.a lot of times these events occur in other jurisdictions and i believe on that particular night there are a couple cases in other cities that we're looking atthis all happened after 11-o clock saturday night, when most of the businesses nearby were closed. but police are checking surveillance footage in the area. downtown palo alto is normally safe ... even then, police is offering up some advice.if you find

collided with an audi traveling east on lewelling boulevard. five people were taken to the hospital and three of those were ems personnel. the ems personnel were treated and released from the hospital. there is no word on the driver of the audi. (robin) a fremont woman escapes serious injury... after a stolen van crashes into her home. police say the driver was speeding... and lost control of the stolen van. she plowed through the garage door... and into the living room of the home on barnard drive. the homeowner had just stepped into her backyard when the crash happened. (robin) the driver of the van was not hurt. she is facing a charge of felony auto theft. (robin) senator kamala harris has canceled her appearance at this weekend's u-c berkeley graduation in response to the statewide u-c employee strike. thousands

of u-c patient care and service workers rallied yesterday across the state. they are protesting a number of contract issues including salary, benefits, and the outsourcing of jobs. the strike caused thousands of changed appointments just at the 3 san francisco medical campuses. (robin) today u-c registered nurses are expected to strike in sympathy with the service and patient care workers. (robin) two new cracks in the ground have opened near hawaii's kilauea volcano. 35- homes and other structures have been destroyed - and 17-hundred people have been evacuated. that is not only because of the lava... but also toxic gas pouring into the air. kron 4's j-r stone has been tracking this dynamic situation and has the story.

sot i think what we can say is...this is not over... geologist janet babb is referring to the volcanic lava that continues to spill out onto hawaii's big island. through the weekend at least 10 fissures or vents had appeared...two more appeared on monday.sot the seismesty continues there is still magma within the rift zone...eruption likely to continue.17-hundred residents near the kilauea volcano are still under evacuation orders as at least 26 homes have now been destroyed by lava in the leilani estates subdivision. some of those homeowners were able to return to their homes monday to get extra items and pets. sot it's sad...it's so sadsot this may be the last time i am here and if so then that is okay...perhaps the most visual video seen on monday involved this lava overtaking a car. the video

person or persons responsible in this case. in pleasant hill haaziq madyun kron4news (robin) a former contra costa county sheriff's deputy accused of unlawfully having sex with two jail inmates pleaded not guilty to four felonies. patrick morseman was arrested last month. he had been working at the west county detention facility. despite morseman's claims the sex was consensual... lawyers for one of the inmates says it was rape. morseman faces 5 years in prison if convicted. (robin) the university o florida is apologizing... after several black stents were pulled off the stage during a commencement ceremony. authorities say the students were celebrating their achievements by dancing - when an usher pulled them off stage. the university president acknowledged the staffer's "inappropriately aggressive" conduct. he assured parents and students

(robin) a near death experience for a florida four- year old .... after what had been a fun day in the swimming pool. the little girl swallowed pool water forcing her to spend four days in the hospital with infected lungs. kron 4's sara stinson spoke with her mom and takes a look at the dangers in some swimming pools. ánat soundsáon a warm florida day, four year old elianna grace was playing in the pool with family."somebody would swim by and she would spray them. she was playing with a pool noodle."stand-up: (" it started as a fun day in the pool with a noodle like this

(robin) the salinas family of a murdered teenager has waited almost thirty years to bring her killer to justice. the man charged with killing 14 year old christina pina was extradited from mexico to california. her body was found in a castroville in 1990. her father says dna evidence helped link arsenio leyva with her murder. (robin) a proposal to build a huge church in hayward is causing some controversy. the pilgrim baptist church is looking to move from san mateo to hayward.but neighbors say they do not want the 39-thousand square foot church in their backyard. kron4's michelle kingston explains. alphonzo mc-innis is accused of assaulting a 15- year-old girl in berkeley last month. police say she was walking to school when a man grabbed her from behind.. held her at gunpoint.. and sexually assaulted her. mc-innis was arrested last week after d-n-a evidence connected him to the crime. he is scheduled to be in court today. mc-innis is without bail. ( darya ) 4 your money this morning... a warning for ford and mazda truck owners. the department of transportation says ford rangers and mazda "b-series" trucks from 2006... are under a "do not drive" order. this comes as the agency is urging owners of cars with defective takata air bags to get repairs immediately. the specific mazda and ford models are being singled out because officials are concerned they are not being repaired quickly enough. at least 22 deaths and more than 180 injuries have been linked to the bad airbags. some 50 million takata air bag inflators have been recalled in the u-s.

( darya ) a big story this morning... a man and a woman are found dead inside their home and police say the deaths are being considered suspicious. it happened in petaluma on the 47-hundred block of roblar road. police were conducting a wellness check after the woman's sister said she hadn't seen the two in about a month. police say the grass was very tall and unkept and mail was piling up in the mailbox. the violent crimes unit is the violent crimes unit is investigating. ( darya ) a 17-year-old boy is recovering... after being robbed at gunpoint in palo alto. it happened at the corner of lytton avenue and kipling street. police say the teen was talking on his cellphone... when 3 people approached him and demanded the phone. when the teen refused... a gun was pointed at him and he was punched in the face. so far... no arrests have been made. ( darya ) police in san jose say they've made two arrests in an armed robbery and home invasion that happened sunday night. ezequiel flores has been booked into the santa clara county jail on multiple counts... including burglary and brandishing a weapon. when confronted near the scene... police say flores refused to drop his gun. an officer shot at flores -- but did ánot hit him. he was later tracked down by another officer and taken into custody. a 17-year-old was also arrested. ( darya ) richmond police have arrested a man for a deadly assault. it happened sunday night at lucas park. right now... investigators trying to figure out if others were involved in the attack. ( james ) three men are behind bars... accused of stealing power tools from a home depot and leading police on a chase. this all started at the home depot on crow canyon road in san ramon. once police showed up... the men took off onto 680. the chase didn't last long. the men crashed after exiting the freeway on sycamore valley

( james ) the man accused of killing a 14-year-old girl almost 30 years ago in monterey county is now back in the u-s. arsenio leyva was extradited from mexico to california. the body of christina pina was found in a castroville artichoke field in 1990. her father says d-n-a evidence helped link arsenio leyva to her murder. the monterey county sheriff says mexican authorities caught up with leyva back in 2014. leyva finally lost his years long fight against extradition. leyva is now facing a number of charges... including kidnapping and murder.
