(grant) kron 4's terisa estacio is at the school tonight... terisa what can you tell us? a possible drowning of a teen boy happened at san ramon valley high school on tuesday afternoon.it was reported at around 1:51 p.m.crews pulled the teen from the water and were trying to revive him. he was rushed to kaiser in walnut creek.the school is on lockdown.here is a statement from the school:this afternoon during the lunch hour we had a medical emergency at the san ramon valley high school pool. san ramon valley fire and danville police responded and transported a student to the hospital. police are investigating the medical emergency. we only have very preliminary information right now but will update you as soon as possible. we appreciate your patience while police investigate.

(grant) breaking his silence. today, embattled santa clara county superior court judge aaron persky opened up about his fight to stay on the bench. in a month -- santa clara county voters will decide whether or not he deserves to be recalled.(vicki) persky has faced mounting pressure to step down or be removed from the bench since issuing what critics call a light sentence in the brock turner sexual assault case. kron four's philippe djegal shares what the judge had to say. .. persky/judge- 'it doesn't feel good to be on the, on the receiving end of so much negative attention." in 20-16, persky sentenced turner to six months in jail and three years of probation... after the 20-year-old stanford athlete was convicted of three felony counts of sexual assault. persky says criticism of his ruling is fair -- but a recall is going too far.aaron persky/judge- "i think judicial recalls should be reserved for misconduct by a judge or incompetence." those helping judge persky in his fight against a recall say removing the judge would have a negative impact on the justice system. the last judicial recall in california was 86 years ago.ellen kreitzberg/persky supporter- "we have heard judges in courtrooms already refer to not wanting to be perskied. uh, refering to the fact that they're concerned if a certain ruling is issued in that case that they're suddenly going to find themselves the subject of a recall." michele dauber is a professor of law at stanford law school. she chairs the committee to recall judge persky -- who she considers to be biased in favor of privelidged men. michele dauber/recall organizer- "a biased judge is a threat to the rule of law

ground-- even though volcanic activity has paused on the island of hawaii. lava has stooped oozing--- but there is still a threat for people in the area tonight. residents are being told to be ready to leave at a moments notice. bridgette namata has the latest. hi, brigette namata here checking in from hawaii island. it's day five since kilauea first erupted. damaging multiple homes in the leilani estates area. we are right outside of the check point to get into the neighborhood. it's pretty grey out here guys. skies gloomy, plenty of rain overhead. but geologists say all is calm for now, but another danger is emerging. sulfur dioxide. unless you have a pass from hawaii county officials, you can not get into the neighborhood. but with permission from the national guard, we were allowed in. lava has overrun several homes, destroyed many roads, and one area on one of the roads there were cracks. there was white smoke billowing upwards and it looked very magnificent to see, until you remember that that beautiful

smoke contains sulfur dioxide, which is actually a very serious irritant and at very high levels can cause respiratry damage. that's why we were with the national guard. they were checking sulfur dioxide levels to ensure they are below .1 which is considered fairly decent or fairly ok. residents we spoke to though said we have to get in there, we have to retrieve our belongings. and one person actually told us she drove through the sulfur dioxide, through that billowing gas, to get to her home and she likened the smell to rotten eggs, and saying she could only handle it for 15 minutes. now hawaii county mayor harry kim, has urged residents, if they haven't evacuated already, to please evacuate. they say .. he says,.. they don't know the situation. right now all is calm for now, all is stable for now but that can change at a moment's notice. so they are warning residents to be prepared to evacuate at any moment. we'll continue to keep you guys updated, stay with us. i'm brigette namata, sending it back to you.

u-c employees...on strike for a second straight day. and today... u-c registered nurses joined the strike in support of thousands of service and patient care workers. they are protesting a number of contract issues including salary... benefits... and the outsourcing of jobs. the strike caused thousands of changed appointments at the three san francisco medical campuses. senator kamala harris has canceled her appearance at this weekend's u-c berkeley graduation...as a show of support for the striking workers. washington pushing for early childhood development programs and help for families. as our washington correspondent drew petrimoulx reports... parents and advocates are pressing congress to increase funding. veronique davenport is a single mother from chattanooga tennessee. she got pregnant her senior year of college and says childcare programs were crucial to finishing school and getting a job. , single mother: "i'm advocating for the young mothers who are trying to finish school and get over that hump." davenport is joining parents from all 50 states this week to lobby congress about the importance of programs aimed at children up to three years old. myra jones-taylor, zero to three "when children dont get what they need, when their brains dont get what they need face higher risks of challenges later on." myra jones-taylor with the to three says their focus is three fold. they want to increase investment in early education, boost access to child care, and create a national paid family leave program for new parents. drew petrimoulx,: "parents and advocates saw they appreciate the work congress has done to improve the situation for babies and young families but they say there is much more to do." a noon rally at the

oakland bart station just after 11:30 last night. police say the victim's red toyota camry was taken from him at gunpoint by three men. nobody was injured-- but the suspects did get away with the victim's car. police are now looking for a 2004 red toyota camry with the license plate number 6-a-q-b-4-9-9. (grant) fremont police are looking for a man suspected of groping a woman in her garage. the victim parked in her garage yesterday... in the arden-wood district when the male suspect grabbed her chest. the victim screamed and presumably scared off the suspect who then said quote "oh sorry, wrong house." officers are describing the suspect as a black man in his 20's, about six feet tall with a goatee. police say he was wearing a baseball cap...and a black or gray horizontal striped long sleeved shirt. (grant) in the north bay... officials are preparing for fire season as the weather gets warmer. last year, california had some of the most destructive wildfires in state history. now-- napa county officials are holding a series of public meetings to help residents prepare. fire officials are encouraging people to maintain a defensible space around their homes. they also say families should have an emergency evacuation plan in place and put together an emergency supply kit. four-year-old girl had to be rescued.. after she was left dangling from the fourth floor of a residential building in china's inner mongolia autonomous region last week.. the young girl, who lived on the fifth floor, had been left home alone by her mother, according to c-c-t-v. the girl tried to get out through the window, but apparently fell from the balcony. she was left dangling precariously outside the window on the fifth floor, clinging onto a guardrail. two local residents were able to reach out through an adjacent window and save the girl. pictures of me... and video taping me... and when i got on the plane they were congratulating me and had told all the pilots.. and stewardess and everything... so.."millie fritzanne lindsey made her debut into the world friday, may 4th at 5:23pm.spc. brooks lindsey:"she's 21 inches long... 7 lbs 6 ozs and a head full of hair."had lindsey's flight actually left on time.... he would have likely missed her birth... so being stuck... at the airport? spc. brooks lindsey:"it was a blessing... blessing in disguise that i got to see it first hand... or via facetime.. that was pretty awesome.. and we have a pretty awesome story to tell about her birth."his wife haley agrees.haley lindsey:"he told me... some lady was video taping me. and he showed me the video... and i heard the doctor say.. push push push push... and i saw his facial expressions... and i was like oh my gosh. so it was really awesome and the lady that video taped that ... we appreciate that."haley and brooks are still newlyweds... married in november of last year. these last few months have taken this military family by storm... but they don't take it for granted.spc. brooks lindsey:"but there's a lot of people who don't get to come home or don't get to see their kid born on facetime or skype.... or anything like that. and by the time they get home... their kid is like 9 months old.. so. just keep those people in your prayers... it's awesome to have a kid.. laugh... deep sigh.. it's awesome to have a kid... but there's a bunch of people who don't get to see it first hand."haley lindsey:"i guess that you don't realize at the moment how important things are." specialist lindsey got to spend four days with his new baby girl, before returning to fort bliss. he is preparing for a tour in kuwait with the army national guard. (ken) if you hate being stuck in bay area traffic, those woes could soon be a thing of the past. rideshare giant uber is teaming with nasa to simulate flying taxis in urban areas. uber is working on a ridesharing network of flying cars to help cut down on road congestion. the space agency is going to conduct simulations to create industry standards and regulations for such vehicles. uber is hoping commercial trips on flying taxis will become available by 20-23. riders will book through the app - just like millions do now every day.

lawrence karnow: there were a few more clouds moving across our skies today. low clouds and fog were very stubborn at the coast and kept temperatures much cooler there. it was still sunny elsewhere but the temperatures cooled a little compared to yesterdays highs. you can see some showers moving into northern california today while we see more clouds in the bay area. you can see the storm on the satellite image. it's falling apart as it approaches the coast. it will likely help deepen the marine layer which means more low clouds and fog and coastal drizzle. wednesday will begin mostly cloudy before seeing partial clearing in the afternoon. temperatures will also be cooler too with highs at the coast in the 50s, 60s around the bay and mid 70s in the warmest inland locations. high pressure will then begin to build on thursday bringing more sushine but also some gusty winds. the weather will continue to warm into the weekend with some highs in the 80s. cooler weather will likely return on mother's day.
