( robin ) fremont police are looking for a man suspected of groping a woman in her garage monday. police say the victim just parked in her garage in the ardenwood district when the man grabbed her breast. the woman screamed and scared off the man who said quote "oh

sorry, wrong house." officers are describing the suspect as a black male in his 20's, about six feet tall with a goatee. police say he was wearing a baseball cap with a black or gray horizontal striped long sleeved shirt. ( robin )police in danville are investigating the drowning death of teenager... at san ramon valley high school. it happened just before 2pm tuesday. students and teachers found the 15-year-old boy in the deep end of the schools pool. kron 4's charles clifford... has the story. around 145 tuesday afternoon, students and afternoon, tuesday around 145 around 145 tuesday afternoon, students and teachers preparing for a p- e class in san ramon valley high school's pool found a 15-year-old male student underwater in the deep end of the pool. riley bergstedt was in the class, he says several students and teachers jumped in to help.sotour teacher ran and helped them get out of the pool and then did cpr with him

along with the students. another teacher called 911 and paramedics arrive within minutes.sotpossible student in the pool. coco county is onscene with cpr in progress. the student was tranpsorted to the kaiser hospital in walnut creek but tuesday afternoon the school said that he had passed away. police are now investigating but have not yet said how or why the young man was in the pool.as news of his death spread, many students came to leave flowers at a growing memorail on campus. several students told us that the young man, who's name has not yet been released, was a good student and a kind person. sotit's hard to think he's here one second and then hes not.sothe was a good student and i think he was a good person.the principal at san ramon valley high school said on tuesday that there will be counselors on campus wednesday to support staff and students. police are investigating an armed carjacking in a bart parking lot. police say three men stole the victim's car at gunpoint. it happened here at the west oakland bart station monday night at around 11-30. police say no one was injured, just shaken up. the are still looking for the suspects and the victims car... it is described as a red toyota camry ... license plate number 6-a-q-b-4-9-9. ( robin )for the first time ever... researchers found public school students are bearing the cost of charter schools in oakland... and other districts schools throughout california. their study revealed the expansion of charter schools... has led to 15- hundred dollars áless in available funding... for every child enrolled in an oakland neighborhood public school... or more than 57- million dollars annually. the report says, the san diego school district and santa clara county's east side union high school district.... are also financially affected.

reports say, the california charter schools act... does not allow school boards to consider how a charter school may impact district's other educational programs or fiscal health, when weighing new charter applications. this leads to cuts in core services.. such as counseling, libraries, and special education ... and leads to increased class sizes at neighborhood public schools. ( robin )a san jose woman is behind bars this morning... after turning herself in for a hit and run accident.police say 50 year old angelica rodriguez... struck a pedestrian near highway 101 in santa clara tuesday morning. it happened near duane avenue between kenneth and alfred street around ten o'clock.police closed down the area for hours while they investigated the crash. right now the victim is in the hospital... where he remains in critical condition. tuesday by registered nurses. the strike is about to enter it's third and final day today.. and is severely hampering ucsf medical centers regular routine. kron 4's dan kerman has the latest. for the second day in a row thousands of uc medical center patient care and service workers across the state walked off the job to protest a variety of contract issues. sot marleanne legaspi/ucsf food service employee 11-20 we're losing our job security because they are outsourcing our jobs and they're not giving livable wages.tuesday these striking employees were joined on the picket lines by some of uc's registered nurses. sotit makes us strongersot erin carrera/ucsf registered nurse 28-38it's important to be here because we work side by side with afscme members. i honestly couldn't do the job i do without my pca's , unit secretaries, housekeeping, everybody here contributes to giving excellent patient care while many registered nurses

reuben foster... pleaded not guilty tuesday... to felony domestic violence and weapons charges. the charges stemmed from allegations that he attacked his then- girlfriend in their home in february. last month foster's ex... recanted her story... saying her injuries came from a fight that she got into with another woman.. and not foster. and that the fight was caught on camera. legal analyst... steven clark... says her video and testimony... could make or break the case against foster. ( robin )the race for governor is heating up and... the top 6 candidates... faced off at the california theatre in san jose tuesday night. kron 4's ali reid was there... and has the detals. the candidates stuck to the issues at hand. they discussed housing, transportation, the environment immigration, education and children.housing is a big problem in the bay area, and candidates talked about how they would fix it. sot - we have to use vouchers from hotels and motels ... according to statewide poll averages, lieutenant governor gavin newsom is the front runner in the race for california governor, leading republican businessman john cox by an 11 point margin.

killing kate steinle.... faces an uphill battle on gun charges. jose garcia zarate claims he's the target of a vindictive federal prosecution. steinle was killed in 20-15 on pier 14 in san francisco. in november... garcia zarate he was acquitted. 5 days later... federal officials charged him with illegal gun possession. garcia zarate's attorney says authorities targeted him out of frustration. this case has been mentioned by members of the trump administration... with the president arguing it's an example of why the sanctuary city policy is a dangerous idea. ( robin ) a man in sacramento believes fate put him at the right place, at the right time. manny cota says he found a nine-year-old girl in tears after she was reportedly forced into a vehicle in a shopping center parking lot. cota's wife helped the young girl while he confronted the suspected kidnapper...a woman... who was still in the parking lot. the woman told him she made a mistake and then took off.

cabins. this will be the second location in oakland for this type of housing. kron 4's michelle kingston went to that cabin community... and shows us the efforts the city is making. district board of directors... voted to support the project known as "california waterfix..." and pledged 650 million dollars... toward the 17 billion dollar project. it's governor jerry brown's proposal to construct two 35 mile long tunnels to bring water from the sacramento river delta to central and southern california farms and cities. supporters say it would modernize an outdated system. last month, the metropolitan water district of southern california board of directors also voted to support the waterfix project in full. on tuesday's vote... governor brown released a statement saying "simply put, this courageous decision will help two million santa clarans have a more reliable water supply." ( james ) breaking news out of the east bay. a shooting at the caldecott tunnel shut down traffic on highway 24 this morning. chp says the incident started around 2:00 a.m. when a driver got a flat tire while traveling through the tunnel. soon after the driver pulled over, a caltrans two truck arrived for assistance. a verbal argument erupted between the calrtrans worker and driver.that's when the driver took out a gun and fired several shots into the air. the driver then took off. no one was hurt. police are still looking for the driver.

( darya ) embattled santa clara county judge aaron persky is opening up about his fight to stay on the bench. in less than a month... voters will decide whether or not he should be recalled. kron four's philippe djegal has the story. judge aaron persky says he thinks about his ruling in the brock turner case all the time. he says he also thinks about the victim. persky says he didn't think the cricitism of his decision in the 20-16 case would be as vicious as it has been. turner, a standford athlete at the time, was sentenced to six months in jail and three months probation after he was convicted on three counts of sexual assault.aaron persky/judge- "how many judges want to drive down the streets of their neighborhood with their two children in the car and see a lawn sign -- their

what started as a driver needing assistance on the side of the road turned into a shooting. ( darya ) kron 4's lydia pantazes is live in oakland with the details. lydia? at approximately 2:15, a motorist received a flat tire while traveling on sr-24, through the caldecott tunnel. the motorist pulled over to the center median just west of the tunnels and awaited assistance. shortly after, a cal-trans tow truck driver arrived and made contact with the motorist. when the cal-trans worker attempted to get the motorist to drive his vehicle to the right shoulder, a verbal altercation occurred. at some point in the altercation the motorist drew a handgun and pointed it at the cal-trans worker. the motorist then pointed the handgun up and discharged a few rounds into the air. a friend of the motorist arrived, and they both fled the scene. chp units arrived on scene and shut down all lanes of sr-24 wb, in order to process the scene.

( darya ) a big story we're following. embattled santa clara county judge aaron persky is opening up about his fight to stay on the bench. next month ... voters will decide whether or not he should be recalled. persky has faced mounting pressure to step down or be removed since issuing what critics call a light sentence in the brock turner sexual assault case at stanford. in 2016 ... turner was sentenced to six months in jail and three months probation after he was convicted on three counts of sexual assault.

kilauea volcano on the big island of hawaii. the lava lake in the center is bursting with activity.now police are going door-to-door to get people living near volcanic vents out of the area. those vents are emitting dangerous gases near the leilani estates ... where lava has been pouring into streets and backyards for the past week. 14 vents have opened since the volcano erupted last thursday.the national guard is monitoring toxic fumes levels. the official plea is to stay out. in oakland... what started as a driver needing assistance on the side of the road turned into a shooting. ( darya ) kron 4's lydia pantazes is live in oakland with the details. lydia? at approximately 2:15, a motorist received a flat tire while traveling on sr-24, through the caldecott tunnel. the motorist pulled over to the center median just west of the tunnels and awaited assistance. shortly after, a cal-trans tow truck driver arrived and made contact with the motorist. when the cal-trans worker attempted to get the motorist to drive his vehicle to the right shoulder, a verbal altercation occurred. at some point in the altercation the motorist drew a handgun and pointed it at the cal-trans worker. the motorist then pointed the handgun up and discharged a few rounds into the air. a friend of the motorist
