or-cheez for the shooting. the 17-year-old appeared in court friday afternoon. he's been charged with capital murder and aggravated assault on a public servant. nine students and one substitute teacher were killed after pag-or-cheez allegedly opened fire in an art classroom. last night the community came together in grief at a vigil. texas governor greg abbott spoke ( marty ) pagourtzis is being held in solitary confinement at the galveston county jail. ( marty ) here is a map of school shootings in the u-s which have happened in the last five -months. if you look back over an entire year -- there have been 22- school shootings where someone was hurt or killed. that averages out to more than one shooting a week. responded to a threat friday morning at terra nova high school. police arrived at the school around 11 a-m after a student reported seeing a threatening message on snapchat. some parents also rushed to the school, after getting a text alert about the situation. police say, it was a shooting threat that prompted their response... but they did not find anything to lead them to believe it was a credible threat. the students were kept on lockdown until the end of the school day... when they were released to their parents. ( marty ) in southern california, the riverside county district attorney's office has filed perjury charges against david turpin. he and his wife are accused of keeping his 13 children captive in their home. investigators say, turpin and his wife tortured, shackled and starved 12 of their 13 children for years. the children were rescued after their 17-year-old sibling escaped and called 9-1-1. david turpin also faces one - count of lewd acts on a child. the turpins have pleaded not guilty. been following. the latest form the kilauea volcano in hawaii. these are the latest dramatic pictures from the big island. the fast- moving lava flow completely englufing and burning a house. u-s-g-s now says at least 40 homes in lower puna are under threat from the lava flow. eruptions from kilauea have increased, with at least five fissures active on friday. lava flows on friday overtook two more homes. that adds to the more than 40 homes already destroyed. mandatory evacuation orders have been in place there for two ( marty ) in east bay, a 19-year-old has been arrested after leading police on a car chase. it happened after eight last night. antioch police were called to hillcrest avenue and larkspur drive to check out a car jacking report. the 19 year old victim, told police he was sitting in his car when he was approached by the suspect. who pointed a gun at him and forced him out of the car. police later

found the car in the 48- hundred block of lone tree way. but he fled and crashed into two other cars. the suspect then tried to run away, but police arrested him. he's booked on suspicion of armed carjacking, possession of a loaded and concealed firearm and evading police. ( marty ) in the south bay... a woman suspected of stealing a police car was shot early friday morning by a sheriff's deputy in santa cruz county. investigators say the shooting happened as the woman was trying to run-down a deputy with his own vehicle. kron4's rob fladeboe has more. rob fladeboe/santa cruz "....details emerging here at the santa cruz sheriff's office this afternoon paint a picture of a chaotic scene where a suspect slipped her handcuffs, got behind the wheel of a deputies vehicle and tried to run him down before she was shot by another deputya pair of patrol cars, one with it's windows shot out, mark the spot where the shooting occurred here at the end of the ocean street extension in santa cruz. just

after 3:30 this morning, deputies had detained a man and woman who were loading something into a suspected stolen vehicle. the suspects were handcuffed and placed in the back seat of separate patrol cars says sheriff jim hart. jim hart/santa cruz sheriff "....while the deputies were interviewing the man, the woman slipped the handcuffs, reached out the partially open window and opened the door. she then goes into the drivers seat and without warning drove the patrol car at at one deputy, striking him and damaging both patrol cars...."the sheriff describes a scene where the two deputies, one of whom is now injured, are fearing for their lives as the woman, instead of fleeing the scene, is coming after them again, driving back and forth at the deputies before she was shot. jim hart/santa cruz sheriff ".....the deputy who had not been injured by the vehicle fired multiple times at the woman to stop the assault. she was hit three times in the chest and the stomach..." the woman survived, was life-flighted to an un-named

found in the bay area on friday. the body of a fin whale washed up to shore in alameda friday morning. and then in the afternoon the remains of a female gray whale was found on a marin county beach. so far this year, five whales have been found dead in our region. kron 4's charles clifford is in san francisco with details. on friday morning, the carcass of a fin whale was found along the docks in alameda. the marine mammal center in marin is investigating the death. so far, they are not sure how the whale got into san francisco bay. adding to the mystery, fin whales aren't usually seen along the california coast as often as other whales, like grays or humpbacks. sotare not sure where it came from. it could have come in from quiet a ways

out.friday afternoon, the remains were towed to angel island where, weather permitting, the mammal center hopes to perform a necropsy next week in order to determine the cause of death. also on friday, the remains of a gray whale washed ashore on tennessee valley beach in marin county. sot that whale is a female about 35 feet long. earlier this month, another gray whale. . a 44 foot female. . was found flaoting in san francisco bay, the mammal center says that whale and two others found earlier this year were killed after being struck by ships. unfortuatnly, with the whales migrating through busy shipping lanes, it's not uncommon to see fatalities this time of year.sotthis is a cluster but that tends to happen . we are within a normal number of animals.in recent years, shipping lanes going into and out of san francisco bay were narrowed in the hopes of reducing the number of whales killed by ship strikes. the mammal center says it's still to early to know if those changes are making a difference.sotit is something we want to look at over time. we are getting more and more data but the jury is still out.the mammal center is also hoping to preform a necropsy on the gray whale found along tennesse beach tomorrow.in san francisco, charles clifford

evacuation orders have been in place there for two weeks. ( marty ) in east bay, a 19-year-old has been arrested after leading police on a car chase. it happened after eight last night. antioch police were called to hillcrest avenue and larkspur drive to check out a car jacking report. the 19 year old victim, told police he was sitting in his car when he was approached by the suspect. who pointed a gun at him and forced him out of the car. police later found the car in the 48- hundred block of lone tree way. but he fled and crashed into two other cars. the suspect then tried to run away, but police arrested him. he's booked on suspicion of armed carjacking, possession of a loaded and concealed firearm and evading police. whale's were found in the bay area on friday. a fin whale, was found friday morning in alameda and then in the afternoon the remains of a female gray whale washed ashore in marin county. so far this year, five whales have been found dead in our region. kron 4's charles clifford is in san francisco with details. on friday morning, the carcass of a fin whale was found along the docks in alameda. the marine mammal center in marin is investigating the death. so far, they are not sure how the whale got into san francisco bay. adding to the mystery, fin whales aren't usually seen along the california coast as often as other whales, like grays or humpbacks. sotare not sure where it came from. it could have come in from quiet a ways out.friday afternoon, the remains were towed to angel island where, weather permitting, the mammal center hopes to perform a necropsy next week in order to

a lava flow. eruptions from kilauea have increased, with at least five fissures active on friday. lava flows on friday overtook two more homes. that adds to the more than 40 homes destroyed in the leilani estates and lamipuna gardens subdivisions. mandatory evacuation orders have been in place there for two weeks. ( marty ) in east bay, a 19-year-old has been arrested after leading police on a car chase. it happened after eight last night. antioch police were called to hillcrest avenue and larkspur drive to check out a car jacking report. the 19 year old victim, told police he was sitting in his car when he was approached by the suspect. who pointed a gun at him and forced him out of the car. police later found the car in the 48- hundred block of lone tree way. but he fled and crashed into two other cars. the suspect then tried to run away, but police arrested him. he's booked on suspicion of armed carjacking, possession of a loaded and concealed firearm and evading police.

the back seat of separate patrol cars says sheriff jim hart. jim hart/santa cruz sheriff "....while the deputies were interviewing the man, the woman slipped the handcuffs, reached out the partially open window and opened the door. she then goes into the drivers seat and without warning drove the patrol car at at one deputy, striking him and damaging both patrol cars...."the sheriff describes a scene where the two deputies, one of whom is now injured, are fearing for their lives as the woman, instead of fleeing the scene, is coming after them again, driving back and forth at the deputies before she was shot. jim hart/santa cruz sheriff ".....the deputy who had not been injured by the vehicle fired multiple times at the woman to stop the assault. she was hit three times in the chest and the stomach..." the woman survived, was life-flighted to an un-named hospital and underwent surgery. her condition is unknown. the deputy was treated and released. the sheriff offered no details about how the woman slipped her cuffs or whether the deputies failed to properly secure her in the patrol car. the shooting occurred in an area where the sheriff's office has received numerous complaints about drug use and other illegal activity. rob fladeboe/santa cruz '....citing an investigation in it's early stages the sheriff declined to identify either of the deputies or the two suspects. however, he did say the woman who ran the deputy down is facing charges of attempted murder. in santa cruz rob fladeboe kron 4 news.

clifford is in san francisco with details. on friday morning, the carcass of a fin whale was found along the docks in alameda. the marine mammal center in marin is investigating the death. so far, they are not sure how the whale got into san francisco bay. adding to the mystery, fin whales aren't usually seen along the california coast as often as other whales, like grays or humpbacks. sotare not sure where it came from. it could have come in from quiet a ways out.friday afternoon, the remains were towed to angel island where, weather permitting, the mammal center hopes to perform a necropsy next week in order to determine the cause of death. also on friday, the remains of a gray whale washed ashore on tennessee valley beach in marin county. sot that whale is a female about 35 feet long. earlier this month, another gray whale. . a 44 foot female. . was found flaoting in san francisco bay, the mammal center says that whale and two others found earlier this year were killed after being struck by ships. unfortuatnly, with the whales migrating through busy shipping lanes, it's not uncommon to see fatalities this time of year.sotthis is a cluster but that tends to
