assault and robbery in concrod last friday has affected 93 year old grandma ---ann marie pedersen --- both physically and mentally. the violence that she endured has been very taxing on her as she's been having flashbacks of what happened to her on friday night otto hala-fi-hi was arrested and taken into custody wednesday night in the city of patterson in stanislaus county. once his photos started circulating for robbing the senior citizen and her caretaker, tips from the community led concord p-d to the suspect ... who turned himself in at a police substationjustice is served when we come together as a community.in addition to elder abuse and robbery, the 29 year old has been arrested for robbing a lowe's home improvement in fremont back on may 9th.in that robbery, police say the 6'3, 300 pound man went up to a register and lifted the front of his shirt, took out a semi-automatic handgun, and threatened to

shoot employees if they didn't back away from the register. he left the store with the 2 items he had in his hands and took off in a white vehicle similar to the one he was seen driving in friday's robbery, according to authorities.i do believe that god will take care of people who stealstandup hala-fi-hi was returned to the bay area where he remains in jail.his 93 year old victim is looking at months of physical therapy to recover from this injury.reporting live in redwood city ... ali reid ... kron 4 news. ( robin )the ghost ship warehouse fire case was back in court thursday. the two defendents - are max harris and derick almena... yesterday harris's attorney asked that his client be allowed to bail out of jail... the attorney argues that harris - on the left - be sent to what he called a "sober living arrangement." it is not clear whether that might happen later. harris

and almena are each charged with 36- counts of involuntary manslaughter in the december 2016 fire. the judge turned down a motion to dismiss the charges. it became clear, there is a major disagreement between the two defendants. the attorney for harris wants the trial postponed until at least september. but derick almena reportedly wants to keep a july 16th trial date - arguing, that he is tired of being behind bars .. and wants the case resolved as soon as possible. ( robin ) the san francisco district attorney says there will be no charges filed against the officers involved in the two high profile fatal police shootings involving mario woods and luis gongora. in december of 20-15 the shooting of mario woods was caught on video.... showing five police officers open fire on the stabbing suspect. an autopsy found he had been hit by gunfire more than 20 times. then in april 20-16 two officers fired on luis gongora - a homeless man armed with a knife who they say moved towards them rather than

she and her husband tyler anderson... put his five-year- old daughter's body in a storage unit... a week after she died in their reno apartment. averyauna anderson is being held on 50-thousand dollars bail since her arrest last week on charges of child abuse and destroying or concealing evidence. tyler anderson, waived extradition in sacramento monday and will return to reno to face a manslaughter charge. 10 .... whose children had to be removed from horrific living conditions last month. he's now facing sexual abuse charges. kron 4's tersia estacio has the latest on these disturbing new charges. four counts of lewdness with a minor at the hands of an adult those are the new charges facing jonathan allen, the father of the ten children. allen very confident in court today, speaking up loudly as he entered a not guilty plea. (take vo) no cameras were allowed in court, but this is a picture of allen from last weeks first court appearnance. the sex crimes alledged to have taken place over the course of a year from 2017 to 2018 - four separate times with one of the 10 children. ina rogers, the children's mother also in court today. this picture from last week as well. she twoo entered a not guilty plea. in contrast, she was soft spoken and quite subdued in court. outside court, allens relatives defended he and ina. doris./allen's grandmother it is unfortunate this has happened to our family and i

feel more help should have been there for the family to help with the children. maggie. allen's aunt he is a nice person. she is a nice person. i hope for the best. last week, both allen and rogers were charged on multiple counts of child abuse. in addition, allen faces 7 counts of torture. in court documents, the children reportedly told child abuse specialists that they had been bitten and struck with bb guns. and quote : due to continuous abuse the children have varying forms of scars, including broken arms." back on march 31st, rogers contacted police after rep0rtedly missing a child. when authorities arrived at the home, , they say, they found feces smeared on floors, urine soaked carpet - the house in shambles. rogers intially blamed the mess on looking for her missing child. the children were removed and a further investigation revealed the alledged abuse.

cases... has been arrested. he's accused of having inappropriate contact with a student.... and another case involving a teacher.. kron 4's gayle ong has the story. 43 year old christopher kaldy was placed on administrative leave in march of this year, that's when police received a report he had inappropriate contact with a student..during that investigation, police found another case against him - involving another teacher. milpitas police learned of a sexual battery case against christopher kaldy at milpitas high school where he's been a music teacher since 19-98. investigators say the incident involved another teacher.

( robin )for the third time in a week... a dead whale has washed ashore in the bay area. this time in bolinas. the carcass of a 58- foot female fin whale... washed up on the beach earlier this week. scientists were on the scene wednesday to make preliminary observations. the marine mammal center who released this picture yesterday... is still trying to determine the cause of death. it is the second recorded death of an endangered fin whale since last friday... when a grey whale was found dead in marin county. (philippe)andy lie/juhsd/nats- "so here we are at the site." if andy lie (lee) gets his way...andy lie/juhsd/nats- "right now, this is a parking lot." in four years -- this former serramonte high school parking lot in daly city... will morph into an 80-unit affordable housing complex for educators and administrators in the jefferson union high school district.andy lie/juhsd- "this will be below market rate housing -- we are targeting 50-percent below market rate when we open hopefully in the fall of 20-22." but first voters will have to approve a bond measure to fund the project. it's on the june ballot for san mateo county voters as measure-j. lie (lee) -- who is president of the board of trustees for the school district -- supports it. a yes vote would allow the district to issue up to 33- million dollars in bonds at a rate of seven dollars per every 100-thousand dollars of assessed property value from 20-19 through at least 20-42. andy lie/juhsd- "so, if your home is assessed by the county at 800,000, that means you'll be paying $56 per year for

the unofficial start to the summer travel season. and for some... swimming and boating at yosemite... will be on the agenda. reporter carlos correa visited yosemite... to see how employees... are putting safety first. more than a dozen members of the yosemite national park search and rescue team are getting ready for a busy summer season that starts over the memorial day weekend.jamie richards, park ranger, yosemite national park: "most people who end up taking a swim, are not people who intend to go swimming."along the merced river, teams are participating in an intense training exercise. it involves crossing shallow water and the basics of rescuing people from aggressive and fast-moving water.moose mutlow, coordinator, swift water program: "people underestimate the speed in which things can go wrong. they get too close to the water and somebody falls in and instantly they are just swept away."trainers say the water is capable of taking someone down stream anywhere between 10 to 20 miles per hour. it's a dangerous situation they say for even the most advance swimmer.moose mutlow, coordinator, swift water

( robin )the dublin waterslide where a young boy was injured... is set to reopen. the wave...will open to the public this saturday.last year a 10 year-old boy fell off the 48-foot áemerald plungáe just hours after its grand opening. he suffered skin abrasions after sliding on the concrete. the slide was closed during the investigation into what happened.all slides have since reopened after the manufacturer deemed them safe.

( robin )4 your money this morning... federal lawmakers are warning of a certain type of fuel could ruin older cars, boats... and other equipment. our washington correspondent brie jackson has the details. you can expect to see more drivers on the road despite the highest gas prices since 2014 says triple a spokesperson jeanette casselano. "we have a strong economy, people are seeing more in their paychecks. people want to travel. they may not travel as far in terms of mileage or they may cut back on the number of days but they will continue to travel. triple a predicts 42 million americans will travel this memorial day weekend. also millions of boaters are expected on the water. now lawmakers want to send a warning about a certain type of fuel known as ethanol fifteen. any high performance motor if you put that new fuel into those engines it will destroy those enginese-15 contains higher levels of ethanol than e-10

which most manufacturers built motors to run on.lawmakers are concerned the higher levels of ethanol can damage older cars , boats, and other equipment. congressman scott introduced the consumer protection and fuel transparency act". the bi- partisan legislation requires the e-p-a to provide warning labels and establish p-s-a's to raise awareness about the potential risks from e-15. certainly those people who sell the fuel have the right to sell it, but people who are purchasing the fuel need to have an adequate warning.whether you're hitting the road or the water this summer season, officials suggest checking the owners manuel or research to decide what fuel type works best for your car or boat. in washington brie jackson. showing the video... james ahn says the woman was angry at him for driving the speed limit ant she wanted to go around him. as she drove past... ahn had his passneger start filming because he was worried that she was going to cause an accident. that is when she started screaming more racist things. at one point the woman appears to use her fingers to slant her eyes in another racist gesture. in his facebook post ahn says he is planing on reporting the woman to police for a hate crime. . the woman has not been identified. ( james ) a san jose man is accused of killing his father and injuring his mother. duong luu and madison muong were arrested at their home in connection to the homicide of luu's father and the attempted murder of his mother. on sunday... police went to a home on senter road for a reported shooting. police found a

man and his wife suffering from gunshot wounds. the father died at the scene and his wife was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. police have not released a motive for the shooting. a candle light vigil will be held tonight at the spanish cove mobile home park at 6:45. ( darya ) also in the south bay... a teacher is arrested... accused of sexual battery in two different cases. now deputies are looking for more victims. christopher kaldy is accused of inappropriate contact with a student and another case involving a teacher.. he did surrender to police. kaldy has been a been a music teacher milpitas high school since 1998. he's been on adminstrative leave since march... that's when the first report against him was made. ( darya ) a san jose elementary teacher is behind bars... suspected of comitting a lewd act against a child. eduard frerking was a kindergarden teacher at dahl elementary school in san jose. police say he asked a 9- year-old student to help him

set up his classroom earlier this month. he is suspected of inappropriately touching her. detectives arrested frerking at the school on wednesday after the incident was ( darya ) happening today... a san jose man accused of making lewd comments toward school kids will be in court. ashour tarverdi is expected to enter a plea. a number of willow glen middle school students told police they were followed by tarverdi. tarverdi is a registered sex offender -- with a previous convition for annoying a child. ( james ) a chase involving two cars ended with gunfire. it happened at macdonald avenue in richmond. police say the drivers started chasing each other in el cerrito and continued to richmond. a person in one of the cars took several shots at the other car... however no one was injured. no arrests have been made so far. sexually assaulted a 5- year-old girl at his calaveras county cabin back in 20-16. burgess was sentenced to 90 days of house arrest and five years probation... after pleading no contest to statutory rape of a child. burgess does ánotá have to register as a sex offender. prosecutors have not explained why that's the case. the girl's family has since filed a civil suit against burgess. police have arrested a man accused of killing a puppy in a store... after a 5 week manhunt. delos pierre gallon is accused of slamming the puppy to the ground back on april 14th. police were intially called to the store because of a fight. investigators say surveillance video shows gallon throwing a can at a woman... before attacking the dog. he was arrested in san mateo. ( darya ) for the third time in a week... a dead whale has washed ashore in the bay area. this time in bolinas. a 58-foot female fin whale washed up on the beach earlier this week. scientists were on the scene wednesday. the marine mammal center -- which released this picture -- is planning to a necropsy today. this is the second recorded death of an endangered fin whale since last friday. a grey whale was also found dead in marin county. national park search and rescue team is gearing up for a busy summer. along the merced river, teams are participating in intense training on how to rescue people from fast moving water. trainers say the water is capable of taking someone down stream anywhere between 10 to 20 miles per hour.... a dangerous situation for even the most advanced swimmer. ( james ) take a look at this ...researchers have are testing a sort of ocean sweeper ... to help clean up great pacific garbage patch. the ocean cleanup launched its nearly 400 foot device out of the san francisco bay area. the screen is designed to scoop up plastics and garbage by relying on power from ocean currents.the test will run for two weeks so scientists can see how it holds up against the waves. the company behind the sweeper hopes to one day launch a version of it that is more than 19-hundred feet.
