evening i'm grant lodes. (catherine) and i'm catherine heenan in for vicki liviakis. the shooting happened just after 11:30 today on santa monica drive in pleasant hill. that's right next to the sun valley mall. kron 4's haaziq madyun is at the police department tonight-- and we will have live report shortly. (catherine) happening now in san francisco-- police are looking for an armed suspect after a shooting in the pacific heights neighborhood on california street. police were called to the scene just after 1:30 this afternoon and found a person who was shot. the victim is expected to survive. the gunman got away - and police don't have a detailed description. (grant) the dublin waterslide where a 10 year old boy was injured when he was propelled into the air last year is set to reopen tomorrow. kron4's maureen kelly has the report that details the state's findings into that accident and talked to the waterpark's operators about why they believe the slide is

now safe for riders. it happened not long after the city of dublin's brand new 43 million dollar waterpark called the wave open it's doors to the public last year. the 10 year old was violently flung off the slide known as the emerald plunge. the child suffered scrapes and bruises....that slide and the once called the dublin screamer you see to the right were shut down. and the state launched an investigation. it was ultimately concluded that the water flow and the water height settings of the slide or too high here's the report from cal osha that found that the slides's manufacturer, whitewater west, did not have effective development testing procedures in place. now one year later....the settings on the emerald plunge have been lowered all of the slides are set to reopen saturday. the spokes person for the city of dublin this time around says this time around both the emerald plunge and the dublin screamer have been thoroughly tested have been thoroughly tested starting with bags of bearing weight and length and then dummies and then finally a multitude of life riders look at this facility in another facility with a similar slide and settings that people who made the people who meet the height and

weight settings can ride down safely the city is confident that the ride will now be safe for all riders. but parents had mixed feelings about whether or not they'd let there kid take the emerald plunge.not yet maybe were going to wait for like a month or three months before we let them go slide just to make sure everything is working on the slide i don't wanna wipe my kids to be to test subject seems like they've done the adequate testing so i think would be safethe parents of the boy who was injured eventually dropped their lawsuit against the city and settled with the makers of the waterslide for an undisclosed sum. they didn't want go on camera but their attorney says they just hope the repairs are made for the safety of the kids who visit the park. maureen kelly kron4 news.

that is how investigators here at the pleasant hill police department are describing a shooting that happened around 11:30am on santa monica drive right across the street from the sun valley mall. police say they were called to the area following a report of gun shots. a man who works in the area describes the scene after the shooting sot

(grant) a big national story a big a big national story we are following tonight-- police have arrested a driver suspected of crashing into three women on a sidewalk in portland... and then leaving the scene. this is video as officers surrounded the suspect's car-- and took him into custody. the crash happened this morning near portland state university.

two of the three women were seriously injured. police arrested the man after someone spotted his car. right now investigators are trying to determine a motive. (catherine) a teacher and a student were injured in an indiana classroom today....and a student has been detained. it happened at the noblesville west middle school....where students say they were taking a test when a classmateleft the room.....then walked back in and opened fire. frightened parents and friends began to gather outsidethe school when word of the shooting spread.. police say they're trying to figure out a motive...and the student is in custody. chief kevin jowitt, noblesville police department: a male student asked to be excused from his class. he left the classroom. he then returned armed with two handguns. and that classroom is where the activities occurred. we do know the situation resolved extremely quickly with the result again that the teacher and one student were injured and the suspect was placed into custody. custody. one reason

the incident ended quickly -- a science teacheris being credited tonight with tackling the student who was firing... after swatting the gun from his hand. jason seaman is also the school football coach. a woman on facebook identifying herself as his mothersays he was shot three times - but is out of surgery and doing 'well' tonight.. no details have been released yet by the police. (grant) happenning now... people in a palo alto neighborhood have noticed more and more coyotes roaming their streets in the past few months. kron four's philippe djegal details the number of sightings and what the coyotes may be looking for. (philippe) just a few minutes into walking her dog friday... nancy tillman came across a coyote.nancy tillman/neighbor- "it walked across stanford avenue into our neighborhood -- college terrace." tillman says the coyote was not aggressive. wildlife experts say they rarely are towards humans... but still, coyotes running freely on neighborhood streets concerns those who live in palo alto's college terrace neighborhood... even though it isn't totally out of the ordinary.nancy

tillman/neighbor- "i see them every two or three days since march, and in the recent months its been much, much more frequent." from this neighborhood... the santa clara county vector control district says it has received 25 coyote-related calls in the past 60 days... 13 were confirmed sightings. vector control says those numbers are actually down for this time of year based on the past six years of data... but not all sightings are reported.norma stoliar/walker- "they don't seem to be aggressive. they're just on their way, looking for rodents to eat, i think." norma stoliar (stow-lee-are) and janie garcia spotted a coyote during their midday walk off page mill road. i also spotted a coyote on the trail nearby but it ran off as soon as we made eye contact.janie garcia/walker- "we were going to pick up some walking sticks, just to prepare ourself if they did get a little closer." the vector control district says small dogs and cats are pray for coyotes. don't leave your pet food outside... use loud noises to scare them away. and, make sure your garbage bins are secured. in palo alto, philippe djegal, kron four news. five -- how high can it go? are we in a bubble? is there a crash coming? we're talking about the red hot bay area real estate market. kron four's rob fladeboe has some perspective from the south bay -- where home prices are rising the fastest. rick smith/windemere real estate "...i don't think were in a bubble or a peak..." past president of the santa clara county realtor's associationrick smith just sold this home in san jose's burbank district. it was listed for $899,000 and sold for $1,250,000. there were multiple offers.rick smith/realtor "....it's an average home, 3-bedrooms, 2 baths, 11-hundred square feet, the burbank area is an up and coming area, theres a lot of things happening o nearby san carlos street and it's close to diridon station where the new google complex is planned..." prices for existing single-family homes in the 9-county bay area region are up 11-percent from a year ago to a record $893,000 dollars. in santa clara county, which saw a 25- percent jump over last april, the median-price is now

(grant) lava eruptions are unrelenting tonight in the leilani estates area...with several fissures re-activating. and officials warn and officials warn anything could happen at any time. it's been 3 weeks since lava first started destorying homes and changing the landscape on the big island... experts say it could spew lava for months.

something we need to watch for the dalton family is still recovering from when lava first erupted on may 3rd. fissure 9 opened in their front yard. heath dalton, home destroyed by lava: and then the fissure kept going and it literally opened up underneath our house on moku. you see what's left of the house on both sides of the fissure. the fissure was actually in our front yard but the heat caught our house on firethey accept what happened... but it's still a hard pill to swallow. the ..uh..yeah what can you do. it is what it is. the daltons lost everything. as a mom i'm focusing on my son and my daughter but inside i'm a complete mess. we lost the house and everything inside. denise and heath's kids are 3 and 4...it's very stressful. it's daunting. it's like..how do you 3yo and a 4yo and how do you keep yourself together to keep things going knows we can't go home coz there's lava. what toys..well honey i'm sorry your lava>they say, they're taking it day by day... and looking for a new home. there's just ..there's not a very large rental big island but until then we just kinda ..very gracious to all our friends who are opening their doors and letting (grant) the family says there are not a lot of homes available to rent on the big island-- so for now they are relying on friends for places to stay. later to be taken to court,he was wearing handcuffs and being escorted by officers. he's been charged with first and third-degree rape - and committing a criminal sex act. weinstein later appeared in court for a bond hearing...whereprosecutors outlined the allegations.. benjamin brafman/ attorney for harvey weinstein: mr. weinstein did not invent the casting couch in hollywood and to the extent that there is bad behavior in that industry that is not what this is about. bad behavior is not on trial in this case. it's only if you intentionally committed a criminal act and mr. weinstein vigorously denies that. that. the charges stem from the accounts of two women... more charges could be coming - since a grand jury continues to hear testimony from at least four other women. weinstein is now out of jail, after posting a one-million dollar cash bail. he had to surrender his passport and has to wear a monitoring device.

was arrested on wednesday. he is a kindergarten teacher at dahl elementary school in san jose. police say he asked a 9-year-old student to help him set up his classroom earlier this month. he was accused of inappropriately touching her -- but today police say they did not find sufficient evidence to charge him. .. (grant) a teacher is arrested... accused of sexual battery in two different cases. now deputies are looking for more victims. christopher kaldy is accused of inappropriate contact with a student and another case involving a teacher.. he did surrender to police. kaldy has been a been a music teacher milpitas high school since 1998. he's been on adminstrative leave since march... that's when the first report against him was made. (catherine) bart riders got a scare when a false bomb threat was reported at the hayward rt station. the call came in through the bart watch mobile app just before noon yesterday. officers and k-9 units responeded to
