( robin )in the east bay... police arrested a high school student who brought this loaded gun to school. police arrested the student in the middle of class. it happened tuesday afternoon at san lorenzo high school. police say the student had the handgun in his possession when they took him into custody. kron 4's dan kerman has the story. tense moments for san lorenzo high school students tuesday around 12-45 a student told

administrators a fellow student had a loaded handgun in his backpacksot sgt. ray kelly/alameda county sheriff's office 09-17but with the end of the period approaching, officers wanted to prevent the bell ringing and students including the one with the gun from entering the hallways so they called for a lockdown.sot miriama filimigo/freshman 29-36sotsheriff's officials say in the 16 year old boy's backpacked this glock 9 millimeter handgun loaded with 12 rounds. what the student planned to do with the gun is unknownsotas the school day ended students started to find out that a student brought a loaded handgun on campus

robbery and elder abuse. earlier this month, halifihi (holla-fee-hee) allegedly stole a purse from a 93-year- old woman and knocked her to the ground. the victim was rushed to the hospital and suffered a broken hip. the suspect allegedly stole her friend's purse as well. halafihi(holla-fee-hee) turned himself in to authorities last week. he is also accused of robbing a fremont lowe's hardware store at gunpoint. ( robin )a teenager remains in the hospital this morning... after a horrific car crash. we first brought you this story yesterday. police say the vehicle was stolen and the driver was also a teenager. kron 4's charles clifford has the latest details on this story. natsthe san jose police the san jose police department says that around 1013 monday evening, officers attempted to pull over this honda accord near mclaughlin avenue and tully road. the car had been

reported stolen. the driver failed to yield, turned off the car's headlights and continued northbound on mcglaughlin. a short time later the car crashed into an oncoming ford c-max. the drive of the honda, a 13-year- old boy, suffered minor injuries and was arrested. two passengers in the honda, a 14-year-old girl and a 16-year-old also recieved minor inuries. another 13-year- old boy in the car suffered life-threatening injuries and remains hospitilized.the adult male driver of the ford was tranpsorted to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.the crash, involving a teenage driver in a stolen car, is another example of what authorites says is disturbing trend across santa clara county.just last week the santa clara district attorney's office released a report on crime during 2017. one of the findings in the report was a substantial increase in juvenile crime over the past three years. auto thefts in particular were up 51 percent between 2015 and 2017.authorites believe that the rise in juvenile crime can be partially attributed to a recent increase in gang activity. earlier this year,

san jose police arrested 16 people in connection to multiple crimes across the south bay. 11 of the suspects were under the age of 18 and authorties say they were working together as a sort of informal gang.sotthe method of operation is committing robberies, commtting burglaries and committing car jackings.it's unknown at this point if the teenagers involved in monday's crash were part of the same group but authorities have said they believe there are still gang memeber active in the south bay.standupsnow, because they are juveniles the identies of those involved in monday nights crash have not been released.in san jose, charles clifford kron4 news. last week... linda quan was headed to the dublin bart station and boarded a san francisco- bound train for work. she told kron 4... she was pricked by a needle when she sat on the seat... forcing her to get treatments for the next year and a half. bart responded by saying, it has hired more police officers and are re-deploying train cleaners, so bart cars get cleaned more often. ( robin )a trader joe's store manager in the east bay is recovering... after a thief knocked him out during a robbery. kron 4's j.r. stone you spoke with the victim... and has the latest on the incident. a lone security guard standing outside this concord trader joe's on tuesday...hours after a thief stole less than 20 dollars worth of goods then knocked out a manager who confronted him.sot it's getting worse and worse and worsethe manager tells kron 4 the thief took salami, yogurt, freeze dried strawberry's, fruit rollups and walked out

this door. the manager confronted him outside and was hit in the face...right under the eye. a shot from the thief's back forearm near his elbow. the manager fell back and hit his head against this concrete that seperates the shopping carts and the walkway. the thief then ran to a nearby silver getaway van and hasn't been seen since.sot they don't work and they think they can rob the people to survive which is wrong.the manager who confronted the man outside the oak grove road store says he'll be okay but next time he might think twice about confronting someone over something so small. shoppers we talked with believe the manager did the right thing. sot 20 bucks or 2 bucks it is still stealing...you don't have to go in and rob people and knock em out when you get confronted. starbucks employees spent tuesday learning about bias... after employees in one philadelphia store called the police on two black men. locations in the bay area particpated in the training. kron 4's ella sogomonian met with a diversity and inclusion expert who weighed in on the training. confused and at times frustrated customers tugged at starbucks door handles across 8 thousand locations in america monday...sot: gino mascardo, starbucks customer// "they were closed today. i didn't know they were doing store training for everyone. now i have to go find another coffee shop that's open . is it all starbucks that are closed?" ( robin )some angry san franciscan's are calling on the city's district attorney to resign. that's after the decision was made ánotá to prosecute the officers involved in the death of mario woods. at a news conference tuesday... woods' mother promised to continue to seek justice for her son. kron4's terisa estacio has the story. gwen woods - "i have been saying to self, how am i going to live without this kid." with tears streaming down her face, gwen woods.. pledged to keep fighting for justice. her son, shown here in this cell phone video fatally shot by several san francisco police officers. woods. ( robin )in the north bay... police say there is link bewteen property crimes in petaluma... and the growing opiod crisis. last night... the police department held an open town hall meeting encouraging concerned residents to keep an open line of communication. prescription drug abuse and narcotics overdoses have become such a problem in petaluma... that as of just a month ago... all patrol officers are now equipped with the anti-opiod medication narcan. no officer have not had to use it yet... but police say... it's only a matter of time. < "15 years ago, we saw very little to no heroin in petaluma and not much in all of sonoma county, and now because heroin is so incredibly cheap, uh we're seeing an increase in heroin usage as well.">( robin )klein

this is happening. beachgoers need to watch where they step on the sand of linda mar beach right now.because these little gelantinous critters are everywhere. surfers say there are even more out in the water. they're all over the beach and there tons in the water you can't paddle without hitting 10 jellyfish they're everywhere people who came out here to cool off from the inland heat are marvelling at the sight. it's a little freaky and a little exciting at the same time this mom and her budding scientist have collected some to discent them and learn more about the sea creatures. i think it's kind of sad because all them died also but also very interesting the executive director of marine science institute says these are moon jellies...which are very common around the world. they can travel in the millions in groups referred to as blooms. but having so many blown up on shore here is not common. she can only remember it happening a few times this century. she says it's natural phenomemon that has nothing to do with global warming. because jellies are not swimmers like fish didn't they can't swim against the

rig traveling south on 680 near dublin blvd. hit a center median, regained control of the rig and was able to park on the right lane. california highway patrol says something malfunctioned with the big rigs gas tank which cause the tank to rupture spelling diesel fuel all over the highway. at this point the semi-truck is parked on the right side of the highway and three lanes are closed near dublin boulevard on the 680 southbound between san ramon and dublin. it's going to take about two hours till we open the lanes. thanks

( darya ) a trader joe's store manger in the east bay is recovering after a thief knocked him out during a robbery. it happened at the trader joe's store on oakgrove road in concord. a thief stole 20-dollars worth of food and then hit the manager in the face when he confronted him. the thief was able to get away. ( james ) some people are calling on the city's district attorney to resign. that's after he decided not to prosecute the police officers involved in the death of mario woods. mario woods was fatally shot by san francisco police officers in 20-15. district attorney george gascon annouced last week that no charges would be filed against the officers. but he is taking the case to state attorney general xavier becerra. on the steps of the san francisco hall of justice yesterday, woods's mother promised to continue to

( james ) a good samaritan is being credited with helping police catch a car burglary suspect in berkeley. the person saw the burglary happening on ridge road. they took this picture with their cell phone and sent it to police. a few days later police arrested jamal rudledge. and when police searched his home they found information linking him to identity theft. ( darya ) we now know the name of the man shot and killed during a home invasion robbery in oakland's fruitvale neighborhood. hoan lieu leaves behind a pregnant wife. the home invasion happened last tuesday on the 41-hundred block of carrington street. so far... police haven't released any information on the gunman.

( james ) novato commissoner, paula neese has resigned from her post after making a controversial comment. she talked about people living in novato with hispanic last names... she said quote - "its usually the case more often than not" that those people are undocumented immigrants." unquote. city officials have not commented on the situation. california highway patrol says something malfunctioned with the big rigs gas tank which cause the tank to rupture spelling diesel fuel all over the highway. at this point the semi-truck is parked on the right side of the highway and three lanes are closed near dublin boulevard on the 680 southbound between san ramon and dublin. it's going to take about two hours till we open the lanes.

( darya ) police are looking for a scooter thief in san francisco. the robbery happened monday night just before 7... near larkin and hemlock streets. police say the victim was riding his scooter when a man used his dog to push the victim off. officers say the thief then took off on the scooter. the victim was not hurt. ( james ) disturbing allegations coming out of a water park near sacramento. roseville police say 7 men groped a group of girls... and those men were arrested. officers say the men had a strategy. they waited until the girls were by themselves and surrounded them on memorial day. the men were arrested for lewd and lascivious acts with a minor.

( darya ) hateful messages have been tagged throughout a high school in sacramento. the most recent message said "trump will deport you" on a spanish teacher's door at rio linda high school. the district released a statement saying that this behavior is unacceptable. but one parent says parents were never notified about the racist messages. in all ... four classrooms ... two elevator doors and a wall were tagged with hate messages.

( darya ) a good samaritan is being credited with helping police catch a car burglary suspect in berkeley. the person saw the burglary happening on ridge road. they took this picture with their cell phone and sent it to police. a few days later police arrested jamal rudledge. and when police searched his home they found information linking him to identity theft. ( james ) some people are calling on san francisco's district attorney to resign. this after he decided not to prosecute the police officers involved in the death of mario woods. mario woods was fatally shot by san francisco police officers in 20-15. district attorney george gascon annouced last week that no charges would be filed against the officers. but he is taking the case to state attorney general xavier becerra. on the steps of the san francisco hall of justice yesterday, woods's mother promised to continue to seek justice for her son.

jewelery store in san leandro. it happened last week at the bayfair mall. police say four people came into the shop with surgical masks. the thieves jumped over the counter and assaulted two employees. the group left the store with an estimated 20- thousand dollars worth of jewelery. a witness saw the thieves leaving the mall in a car that was waiting outside. an undercover sargent located the car on the freeway. the driver tried to get away but got caught up in traffic. charles brown, lonnie beard, and a minor were taken into custody. detectives learned that there was an another get away car involved after looking at surveilance video... they are now looking for the other people robbery. roseville police say 7 men groped a group of girls... and those men were arrested. officers say the men had a strategy. they waited until the girls were by themselves and surrounded them on memorial day. the men were arrested for lewd and lascivious acts with a minor. the victims were all under the age of 14. police say the young girls did the right thing... by reporting the men immediately.
