bay...historic japantown in san jose is at the center of a crime wave. several businesses were broken into these past few months and most recently this week. kron 4 's ella sogomonian has the story. it's a pattern that has this tight knit historic community on high alert. several of these family owned businesses have had their glass doors smashed and cash registers swiped.(nats:greetings)warm hugs welcome customers at the door of kazoo sushi restaurant in historic japantown in san jose. although it's all smiles today - it was glass and shattered hearts on friday as employees found the front door broken into using a cement sewage block....and the cash register gone.sot: sean yang, kazoo restaurant owner// "a small shop like us we don't have a lot of cash to steal, we are just making a day to day living."it's the latest in a series of burglaries in the past few months in the area. japantown is made up of about two dozen family owned businesses who have become targets and are now shaken by

(robin) we now know the name of the two climbers... who died after falling from a rock in yosemite national park. authorities identified the climbers as 46-year-old jason wells and 42-year-old tim klein. the duo fell from el capitan ... a three thousand foot rock. the hike...is known as one of yosemite national park's most difficult climbs. park rangers are still figuring out how those two climbers slipped. < "both climbers uh, they were in a party climbing together. they were climbing on the route known as 'freeblast.' i'm not sure exactly where they were on that route."> (robin) this is the second fatal incident in yosemite national park in a little over a week. last week... a hiker fell to his death climbing the granite cliffs of half dome in rainy conditions. (robin) in our world news coverage guatemala's fuego volcano erupted for a second time this year on sunday. at least 25 people

parties. they believe she can create change in the city.the child care initiative .. prop c,hich we're all excited about. to provide affordable childcare for everyone in the city.the most vulnerable, the most low income people have been pushed out and jane is the one that can fix it. i don't think anyone can stop ehat's happening, but she's the one that can put a plug in it and stop the trickle.over in the richmond district, london breed held a meet and greet with voters.i'm really impressed with her homeless platform. she really want to help people and get them off the streetbreed is also working on changing the me health system so falies arent tied up in the criminal justice system instead of getting the help they need.she has the type of energy to take the city in the direction it needs to go ini think it says a lot that the whole board of supervisors voted her unanimously to be the leader of the board. it says she can be a coalition leader. homelessness, housing and public safety are important to her platform...what i'm also focused on is education in the

(robin) it's been just over a week now since the bart extension in antioch begain carrying riders in east contra costa county.... the new antioch station has been so

popular -- parking has been a major issue. kron4' s j-r stone spoke with passengers who are upset about the parking situation. sot i would have fired half the people involved in this project and put them some place else.outrage over the parking situation at the new bart extension in antioch. the issue...not enough spaces. sot they had to have known there were going to be this many people....no solution.a viewer reached out to us showing that problem...cars parked in the grass across the street. in fact those cars weren't ticketed wednesday but were ticketed tuesday. those with bart say there are 1- thousand six spots saying the extension was built with the idea that some would drive, some would carpool, some would take the bus, and some would walk or bike.sot i think there is a lack of respect for people out here maybe because there isn't as much money out here i think a lot of people feel that way.some we talked with were able to get a spot.

on saturday at pinto lake county park. police say the man grabbed the 27- year-old woman... and tried to pull her away from her car. the woman was able to break free... and started screaming for help. that's when the man drove off. this is a sketch of the man. police say his car is a mid 90's light blue, two-door honda accord with sun damage on the paint. (robin) marin county officials are warning car owners to be careful after an aerosol can did this to a car. this car's back window was shattered after the can of cleaning product exlpoded due to extreme heat. with temperatures expected to increase these next few weeks officials are reminding drivers not to leave certain items in their car. (robin) the search is on for a man who killed a small dog in san francisco. the troubling surveillance video shows the man kicking the puppy. kron 4's ella sogomonian has the details. san francisco police got a hold of surveillence video

that shows a man kicking a small dog not once, but twice...so hard that it fractured it's skull against a wall. dog owners at a nearby park who watched the clip couldn't imagine what could drive a person to attack the pet name puppet...sot: concerned dog owner// "uh, i can't watch anymore."the attack happened in an alleyway near market and stevenson streets.puppet died from its injuries saturday morning at 2:45 at an emergency hospital where the three year old dog was being treated. sot: concerned dog owner// "i think that's despicable because you're so much bigger especially that dog there's no reason for you to extend your leg out and harm them in that kind of fashion and manner." animal control services employees want viewers to take a close look at this man who they believe to be responsible so he can face animal cruelty charges.sot: amanda edwards, concerned dog owner// "yeah i think it's incredibly important i think we have to prevent it from happening again."the san francisco animal control executive director said "the community

acts as our eyes and ears. if anyone has evidence that animals are being mistreated, i encourage them to call our agency." (robin) a family is demanding answers after their dog died on a flight. the family was headed to new jersey from phoenix and had a stop in detroit. when they landed in michigan... their dog "alejandro" was still alive. just hours later... the 8-year-old pomeranian was dead. (robin) when the airline gave the dog back to its family... blood stains were found on his blanket -- raising even more questions about what exactly happened. delta says its conducting a thorough review and will work with the family to support them. coming upi didn't give you the

(robin) in national news ... a somber graduation for seniors at marjory stoneman douglas high school. just months after the deadly shooting on the parkland, florida campus-- students walked across the stage in their caps in gowns on sunday without four of their classmates. kim hutcherson has reaction from survivors as they try to move on with their lives and careers. it was supposed to be a happy

(robin) police in tampa, florida gave a boy with spina bifida a brand new bike... but it's not just any bike. alexi martinez uses a wheelchair and can't ride a regular bike. police first met him back in april when his siblings won bicycles as part of a giveaway. they noticed

how sad alexi was that he didn't get one.... so they found a company that specializes in adaptive tricycles. the bike lets disabled people use their arms to pedal. alexi's mom told him he was going to the doctor... but took him to the police department instead for his big surprise. (robin) this is the first time alexi has ever been able to ride a bike. astronomers found this neutron star. it's the first of its kind found outside the milky way galaxy ... and is located some 200-thousand light years from earth. scientists say neutron stars are dense cores of massive stars that collapse and undergo a supernova explosion. in this case, it's believed the explosion happened about two-thousand

( will ) police are looking for a man who stole a computer from a person he planned to meet through craigslist. it happened over the weekend near h and first streets in petaluma. the theif was bringing the computer to his car... and told the victim he needed to get his money. when the victim questioned the man... the thief pushed the victim... got into his car... and drove off.
