(cheers)(vicki) the warriors celebrate their 3rd championship win in four years with fans today. a million people were expected to show up to see the players and coaches as they paraded through the streets of downtown oakland. good evening i'm vicki liviakis. (grant) and i'm grant lodes. it's something we are getting used to seeing-- championship parades. but there was still a lot of excitement in the bay area today. kron 4's j-r stone is live in oakland tonight with a look at how the parade went today. j-r? .. (j.r.) it was fun, exciting, and it sure was hot. it was roasting outside this afternoon in oakland but that wasn't enough to stop the huge crowd from coming out. sot we're champs again....never imagined we'd be taking larry home...the larry o'brien championship trophy that is. in the hands

of the warriors for the second straight year and the third time in four years. so how is this one any different?sot joe lacob this one was hard...they were able to grind it out that's really what it was like this year it was hard....so proud of themtuesday the streets of oakland were jammed packed with warriors fans who there to see their favorite stars...the hometown athletes who took center stage before riding through the town. coach steve kerr compared this year's squad to a thorowbread. sot kerr...like race horse that knows it's the home stretch...1st game of playoffs i knew we were going to be okay....turned everything around.when it came to praising the player who made a difference in game six and seven draymond green named a man who wasn't ever an nba finals mvp and hasn't ever been a season mvp.sot the one that stood out most was klay...he doesn't talk much at all but in those two games he probably talked more than anyone....he just wants to win and those two games as much as he talked....have the sucess we've had. (grant) thousands of warriors fans used public transit to get to the parade...creatinto get to the parade...creating long lines and delays. kron 4's sara stinson takes us to the madness at the 19th street bart station. reporter intro: ("people took bart from all over the bay area to attend the parade and avoid traffic. it's true the

early bird gets the worm, they beat the lines. eventually bart had to close down the southern stations were actually closed down because there was too much foot traffic.")("super, super crowded and we were trying to get the best spot.")before the madness began....dozens and dozens of warriors fans decked out in blue and gold got a head start jumping on bart before sunrise.("we started at bay poinand we got off around 19th and it was really chill we were like the first ones here though.")some of the first trains arriving at the 19th street station came in at five in the morning -- six hours before the parade even started.("i got here no issues, no lines getting on bart or anything like that.") then it started picking up around six, seven , eight o'clock in the morning.("it was crowded in the bart though.")("it was pretty packed, not as bad as usual, but there was a lot people this morning.")eventually - overcrowding forced bart riders to exit at the lake merrit station. but fans say the parade made the madness on bart all worthwhile.("i felt welcomed to oakland. excited to celebrate and had a good time.")reporter tag: ("the sea

of blue and gold continued to flow back into bart. the lines and crowds continued as people tried to get home from the parade. in oakland, sara stinson, kron 4 news.") (vicki) and any time there is a parade-- there is a lot of cleanup afterwards. (grant) kron 4's charles clifford is live in oakland tonight with an update on the progress of getting the town back to normal. charles? well, if your're going to throw a party and invite a million people there is probably going to be some trash to pickup.. the parade route stretched for a little under a mile and half

and that entire length was packed with people. so, in addition to the confetti along broadway there was also a lot of trash in the trash cans, garbage on the streets and discarded banners. but, the parade wasn't even over and the city of oakland already had crews working on cleanup. guys with rakes and leaf blowers gathering up that confetti. an arm of street sweepers and garbage trucks also started following up the parade. . pretty much cleaning up while the parade was still going. now the parade has been estimated to cost between 2-3 million dollars which the warriors have agreed to pay. the team will also give 1.2 million to pay for police, fire fighters and the clean up crews at the parade. the city will pay for any costs over the 1.2 million.in oakland, charles clifford kron 4 news.

meeting between president trump and north korean leader kim jong un in singapore is over. back in the nation's capital -- our washington correspondent drew petrimoulx reports... members of congress have mixed reactions about the future of the relationship. it was all handshakes and smiles during the first ever meeting between a sitting u-s president and the leader of north korea. "i think this summit was a good first step." republicans like senator tom cotton and democrats like senator chuck schumer agree the summit is progress. "americans feel better about talking than name calling and threat of war which had characterized the relationship up to now." but the two senators say there is much work to be done. "we have months of hard negotiations ahead of us to hold kim jong un to his commitments to denuclearize the peninsula>" "its imperative that we actually get action here not just photo ops.""but there is disagreement here on capitol hill over whether president trump is giving up too much without solid commitments from north korea."

s-u-v's recently failed crash tests. (vicki) a test simulating a violent and dangerous collision shows jeep grand cherokee and ford explorer are not safe. they were the only cars to earn a poor rating. the explorer's passenger door frame was crushed inward by more than a foot in some places. it received the lowest possible rating in this insurance institute's test. ford says that the explorer has earned top scores in all other crash tests. they plan to update the car and put out a new version that will pass all tests next year. and human services was grilled on capitol hill today about prescription drugs. this comes about a month after president trump announced an effort to reduce drug costs for all americans. alex azar reiterated to senators today - a few ways the trump administration wants to help lower drug costs. the white house wants drug companies to include a list price in t-v ads. but democratic senator maggie hassan says t-v drug ads are inherently problematic - because drug companies get tax breaks for them. "to me, this is a basic fairness issue. we shouldn't be giving tax breaks on the billions of dollars they spend on advertising - advertising that hikes up costs for consumers."(ken) azar said the u.s.needs a more competitive marketplace... because right now, some companies sit on their right to have a generic drug exclusive to them for the first six months.

(pam) death records from hurricane maria's devastation of puerto rico.... must be released to the media today .. according to a new court document. the puerto rican government filed a motion monday, to delay the release of death certificates, but it was overruled in court. this comes less than a month after puerto rican governor ricardo rossello told c-n-n .... there would be quote - 'hell to pay' if documents are withheld. starting today , the documents will be released to c-n-n and the center for investigative journalism. the two organizations sued for their release in february, after evidence suggested the death toll was much higher than officials reported. the puerto rican government sited logistical difficulties, budget cuts, and personnel shortages in their motion to delay. settled a lawsuit by county jail inmates..... who claimed they were beaten in their cells by corrections officers during "yard counseling" back in 2015.(ken) court documents say at least 20 inmates in the main adult detention facility in santa rosa were beaten over five hours in may 2015. seven inmates were named as plaintiffs in the suit. sonoma county sheriff rob giordano disclosed the $1.7 million settlement monday in a video on facebook. (pam) in addition to that training, sheriff giordano says, they're also purchasing more body cameras in the correctional facility.
