( robin )this morning... a santa clara county man is behind bars for attempting to kidnap his neighbor not once... but twice.deputies say 35 year old hi-po-lito martinez was arrested for attacking his neighbor and entering her home in unincorporated gilroy. the victim told deputies that martinez entered her home, attacked her and tried to remove her clothing. the victim said she defended herself and escaped the house. however- martinez chased her and attempted to drag her back inside.. but she fought him off again and ran away and called police. martinez is behind bars and is facing several felony charges including kidnapping and false imprisonment. bizarre kidnapping and crash over the weekend. 40-year-old daphne bailey died, when the car she was riding in... burst into flames following a police chase that ended in emeryville. san francisco police said, bailey and a male suspect assaulted a woman in the city's tenderloin district sunday ... and then kidnapped her. the woman managed to escape unharmed. police say, the male suspect and bailey drove onto the bay bridge toward oakland, and collided with another vehicle in emeryville. bailey died at the scene. the male suspect who was driving the car, suffered major injuries and is still in the hospital. ( robin )in the east bay... police are searching for four women... in connection with the armed robbery of a group of exchange students from ireland. those students were held at gunpoint saturday morning near u.c. berkeley's clark kerr campus. the exchange students were walking on etna street... when a car pulled up next to them... and four female suspects got out. officers say the suspects pointed a gun at the group and demanded their property.

( robin ) the race for san franciso's mayor is still on. and this morning... london breed is in the lead with about 18- hundred votes. kron 4's ali reid has the latest on this election that's getting closer and closer... as the days go by. it's still less than a one percent difference.at this

point either candidate can take the lead.pkgvotes continue to be counted ... we're feeling really hopeful. the gap is widening. supervisor london breed maintains the lead for mayor by just over 1800 votesi think this is a really good day for us, but there's still so many votes to count and statistically we can't say one way or the other who the winner will bethere's a system and everything here is done strategically. every day the machines at city hall are tested so they're tabulating as we expect them to.election personnel added provisonal ballots to the mix today ... and got through half of them. in addition to all the other votes, supervisor london breed now has a total of 111-446, at 50-point-42 percent. and former senator mark leno is right behind at 109-585 ... 49-point-58 percent.and then there are still some that need manual review. so we've got through friday to get through the provisional ballot cards.

burning in the west.... are forcing thousand of people out of their homes. more than 13-hundred homes have been evacuated by a wildfire burning in colorado's mountains. the fire is burning in summit county... which is home to several ski resorts. and in southern california... los angeles fire officials say a power tool being used to clear brush sparked a wildfire. flames there led to evacuation orders for 86 homes in the wealthy hillside enclave of benedict canyon. and in washington state... the soap lake fire has burned about two-thousand acres. some people who evacuated were allowed to return home... but they've been warned they may have to leave again. bay... police are looking for 4 women who robbed a group of exchange students from ireland at gunpoint. this happened saturday morning... near the u-c berkeley campus. the exchange students were walking on etna street. when a car pulled up next to them... and four women got out. one woman pulled out a gun. the students were not hurt. the sheriff's department says a search for the teens along a stretch of the sacramento river is ending. burning in the west.... are forcing thousand of people out of their homes. more than 13-hundred homes have been evacuated by a wildfire burning in colorado's mountains. the fire is burning in summit county... which is home to several ski resorts. and in southern california... los angeles fire officials say a power tool being used to clear brush sparked a wildfire. flames there led to evacuation orders for 86 homes in the wealthy hillside enclave of benedict canyon. and in washington state... the soap lake fire has burned about two-thousand acres. some people who

the deadline is july 12th. ( will ) congresswomen nancy pelosi and barbara lee are inviting the golden state warriors to the u-s capitol to celebrate the team's n-b-a championship. they sent a letter to coach steve kerr... congratulating the team for winning back-to-back titles. pelosi and lee wrote -- "you continue to make the bay area and indeed the country deeply proud. we look forward to honoring your championship in the heart of our democracy." traditionally... the winning team visits the white house after their victory... but the warriors declined to do so last year and they've already said they're not going this year. ( james ) apple's i-phone ten is known for being water resistant... not exactly waterproof. but when one woman dropped her phone in the river she thought she would never see it again.( will ) fast forward two weeks and alyssa king got the surprise of her life. dallas is the star of a youtube channel man plus river. he goes diving in arizona's salt river looking for treasures and he tries to return them to the owners. one day he fouhnd the i-phone at the bottom of the river. of exchange students from ireland at gunpoint. this happened saturday morning... near the u-c berkeley campus. the exchange students were walking on etna street... when a car pulled up next to them... and four women goout. one woman pulled out a gun. the students were not hurt. ( james ) back to back crimes in broad daylight in hercules. first... police were called to starbucks on san pablo avenue. that's where a laptop was stolen. police say 2 men bought drinks... left... and then came back. when the men returned... they grabbed a laptop and ran off. police also responded to a car burglary on the 35-hundred block of franklin canyon road. someone broke a car door handle.. and stole the golf clubs. police are looking for the thieves in both cases. ( will ) sonoma county has settled a lawsuit by jail inmates... who claimed they were beaten in their cells by corrections officers during "yard counseling." court documents say at least 20 inmates in santa rosa were

the sheriff's department says a search for the teens along a stretch of the sacramento river is ending. there's a new tower-climber in town. it's a grainy live feed from the scene... but that is a raccoon scaling more- than-20-stories of a skyscraper in downtown saint paul, minnesota... overnight. people are sharing videos from inside and outside of the building-- one of the tallest in the city. at one point the raccoon took a break outside the window of a law firm on the 23rd floor. but it did eventually make it all the way to the roof.
