there were only 40 cases last year. whooping cough is a highly contagious respiratory disease. it is spread when an infected person coughs, sneezes or talks. it can be spread up to three weeks after the cough starts. pregnant women and people who are near and around infants and children are encouraged to get vaccinated. ( marty )health officials have added the state of california to the list where cut melon may be contaminated with salmonella. the f-d-a has recalled pre-cut watermelon, honeydew, and cantaloupe sold at well-known grocery stores. some of those stores include walmart, wlagreens and costco. anyone who has recently purchased cut melons are advised to throw it away. california is one of 23 states who have received these warnings. ( marty ) sex and drug use are on the decline among teenagers in the united states. that's according to the c-d-c. the report provides data from 2007 to 20-17. it shows the percentage of teens who reported ever having sex has declined over a decade.

( marty ) in the north bay. a man is in jail this morning, he's accused of attacking a truck driver in his cab. it happened early thursday morning on weller street in petaluma. the 65- year- old truck driver was sleeping... when police say, 44-year-old damion grissom .. banged on the door. when the truck driver opened it, officers say, grissom attacked him with a blunt instrument and punched him. grissom then ran off ... but he dropped his wallet inside the truck. that lead police to his location. grissom was arrested and booked into sonoma county jail on $30 -thousand bail.
